"Exhaust Flame!" BlackGrowlmon boomed.
A stream of dark, orange and red flames rocketed at Lucio and BlackMetalGreymon. The flames surrounded BlackMetalGreymon who shielded Lucio from the lethal attack. When the flames died, fresh burns were seen on the ultimate level Digimon's body.
BlackMetalGreymon narrowed his eyes at BlackGrowlmon and his mind went into overdrive. That last attack he got hit with should not have left any damage, but it did. He grimaced as the burning sensation came back and flared around his body. This Digimon before him was strong. Very strong. He then glanced back at Lucio to see how he was doing. He was relieved to see his partner escaped being burned, but was hunched over holding his ribs.
"Lucio, are you okay?" BlackMetalGreymon asked.
"I think that thing cracked a couple of my ribs before he Digivolved." Lucio winced.
"What do you want to do?"
"We're not leaving until they're dead."
Lucio fought through the pain and pulled out another card. He glared at BlackGrowlmon and then at Kyle who appeared to be going pale from the blood loss. He shook his head and slashed his card through his D'Arc.
"Digi-Modify! Stamina activate!" Lucio hollered.
BlackMetalGreymon felt a flood of energy surge through his body. He flexed his claws and lunged at BlackGrowlmon who was ready for him. He thrust his claws forward, but they were caught by BlackGrowlmon who pressed his head against his and glared at him with his menacing, yellow eyes.
"If my partner dies, you'd better pray for death." BlackGrowlmon growled. "Because what I have in store for you two will be worse than that."
"You're not going to get that luxury," BlackMetalGreymon answered.
"We'll see about that. Plasma Blade!"
BlackMetalGreymon ducked just in time to avoid the orange glowing blade that extended out of BlackGrowlmon's arm. He got the opening he needed and clenched his fist.
"Megaton Punch!" BlackMetalGreymon sneered.
The punch hit BlackGrowlmon under his chin and sent him staggering back. The hit made him let out a loud growl and he flexed his claws. Even though he had more power on his end, he needed Kyle's help to fight BlackMetalGreymon. He sent a quick glance at his partner.
Kyle's half-lidded eyes were unfocussed. His grey t-shirt was now stained red from his blood which showed no signs of stopping. Despite Nasrin's best efforts to slow the bleeding it was no use.
"Kyle, focus! I need your help!" BlackGrowlmon yelled.
He saw Kyle's eyes blink a few times and he nodded inwardly. Even though it was a big struggle, Kyle was able to lift up his D'Arc and hold a card to it. With a quick slash, his arms fell back to his sides.
"Digi-Modify…" He slurred out.
BlackGrowlmon felt his strength grow and he glared back at BlackMetalGreymon. He opened his mouth and released another Exhaust Flame attack. The flames hit BlackMetalGreymon again and he grinned wickedly when he heard the scream of pain that followed. He relished it and wanted to hear it again. He bent his head low and charged BlackMetalGreymon again.
A loud thud sounded from the brutal tackle. The two of them were deadlocked once again which left BlackMetalGreymon exposed. Seeing the chance, Bobby and Mike jumped into action.
"Digi-Modify! Power activate!" The two of them yelled.
The power ups hit both Gargomon and Flymon and they charged towards BlackMetalGreymon. When they were within range, they let their attacks fly. Gargomon raised his guns and began to fire dozens of bullets with his Gargo Pellet attack. Meanwhile, Flymon soared overhead and behind BlackMetalGreymon.
"Poison Powder!" Flymon cried out.
A purple mist fell from his wings and covered BlackMetalGreymon. The combination of attacks made him growl and then roar loudly. It seemed as though they were finally making some progress against the powerful ultimate.
The remaining forces of the tamers continued to put the pressure on both Lucio and BlackMetalGreymon. Now that their attacks were more in sync than earlier, they were able to deal more damage to the powerful Digimon. It also helped that BlackMetalGreymon's stats were no longer being increased from Lucio's cards after being maxed out. There was still time to change the course of the battle and that was what they planned to do.
Bobby's fists were clenched so tight that his knuckles were now pure white. His eyes were fixated on Lucio and he intended to pummel him to a pulp. It was his job to keep Kyle and Mikayla safe and he failed.
The awkward silence that filled the room made Bobby uncomfortable. He just finished telling his parents the truth behind the supposed vacation to Japan. Gathering the courage he had, he looked up at their faces. His mother's brow was furrowed in contemplation and his father's was one of impassiveness.
His father's opinion would be the choice for the two of them, but the silence was not doing much to help. Bobby had been told time and again that he would have to do something the second he graduated high school. His grades were not that great which had hurt his chances to get into any good colleges. The only two chances he had was the baseball scholarship for the University of Virginia, but that had not been confirmed. The second was to enlist in the military.
"First your grades and now this…" Heather shook her head.
"Mom…" Bobby protested.
"You lied to us, Bobby! Don't you understand that this is your life you're talking about here?"
Bobby bit back a retort. He did not understand the reason she was getting so worked up over his decision. He knew it was his life and his decision, but he was doing what they asked. He had to do something after graduation and he was doing something now.
"I know I lied, but how would it have looked if I told you this from the get go?" Bobby replied.
"We would not be having this conversation for starters!" Heather crossed her arms. "Secondly, you would probably be at basic training soon!"
"I'm waiting for that scholarship from Virginia!"
"It's been two months, Bobby! You haven't heard anything back from them yet, so what does that tell you?"
Bobby's brow furrowed as he felt his anger rising. His knuckles cracked as his fists clenched tightly. The scholarship decision took time and always came down to the wire, but no matter how many times he explained that, it did no good. They wanted him to do something with his life, but the one thing he succeeded at was being rejected.
"I've told you dozens of times the reason why I haven't heard back from them yet!" Bobby shot back.
"Don't take that tone with me, young man!" Heather snapped.
"Why not? It doesn't matter what I tell you! The fact is you're getting pissed because I did not get into college like you wanted!"
"You need college to succeed in this new world, Bobby!"
"Bullshit! You know how good I am at baseball and that's what I want to do with my life! God forbid I'm not a freaking genius like Mikayla!"
A loud slap echoed around the dining room. Heather withdrew her hand, her face red with anger. She deplored that foul language and she did not like it when it was directed towards her.
"Watch your mouth. You still live under our roof and as long as you do, you'll abide by our rules," Heather said with barely controlled anger.
During this whole time, Richard remained silent. He had let Bobby vent his anger, but now he heard enough. He got up from the table and headed for the kitchen.
"Richard, where are you going?" Heather asked.
"Let him go," Richard said, looking back at her. "He wants to do this thing with these Digimon, that's fine."
"But…"
"He's a man now and it's time for him to make his own decisions. So long as he is doing something and not staying here, that's fine with me."
Bobby said nothing and only listened as his father defended him. He was sure there was more to his reason, but did not question it. He spared a quick look towards his mother and could see the look of disbelief on her face. It was clear that she was not happy with his father's decision to let him go and fight Seeker.
"You're just letting our son go face these Seeker people?" She folded her arms.
"It'd be no different if he joined the military, Heather," Richard answered back.
Heather opened her mouth to retort, but closed it. Not finding the words to say. She stood there for a moment before she sucked her lip and stormed out of the room. Silence fell between father and son after Heather's brisk departure.
Bobby looked back at his dad and met his eyes. He could see the acknowledgement in them. The moment they shared there was not one of father and son, but man to man.
"Since I'm letting you do this, I only have one job for you, boy." Richard turned to him.
"Yeah?" Bobby replied.
"Look after Kyle and Mikayla. You're the eldest, so it's your job to keep them safe."
"What if I fail?"
"Then don't come back. I don't think the rest of the family will be able to look at you if that happened."
With that, Richard entered the kitchen to leave Bobby alone to his thoughts. Now he knew what the catch was. He was now free to make his own decisions as a man, but he had to live with them. This was his father letting him go on his own and whatever happened next in his life was his responsibility. In a way he was happy, but at the same time, it scared him. If something happened to Kyle or Mikayla, his family would all but disown him.
"I'll keep them safe, Dad. I promise." Bobby leaned back in the chair.
A loud boom filled the area and Lucio dodged another attack from Flymon. If they were able to incapacitate Lucio, they could end the battle there. It was surprising to see Lucio dodge Flymon's Deadly Sting attack with his injuries. Although they had yet to hit him, it forced him to get closer to Bobby.
Bobby ran at Lucio as fast as he could. He felt nothing but excitement when a look of surprise and terror crossed his face. His hands gripped Lucio's throat and pants. With a hard pull, he lifted them high in the air and brought him down the ground. Lucio's mouth opened in a silent scream as the air left his body.
Punch after punch, Bobby continued to beat Lucio into submission. It was his fault Kyle was on death's door. His fault that his teammates were hurt. Now that he had the Seeker member in his grasp, he would not let him get away and planned to make him suffer as much as possible. He brought his arm up high and down in a swift pound. Lucio screamed in agony as his cracked ribs broke completely.
"You feel that, you piece of shit?" Bobby sneered.
He did not give Lucio time to answer as he pressed his knee on Lucio's ribs. The teen below him screamed in pain again and he took great satisfaction when tears of pain built in his eyes.
"Lucio!" BlackMetalGreymon called out.
BlackMetalGreymon heard his partner's cry of pain. He successfully hit BlackGrowlmon with another Megaton Punch and sent him to the ground with a crash. He then spun around just in time to block an attack from Flymon. His mouth opened wide and he aimed just ahead of Flymon.
"Revenge Flame!" He roared.
The searing ball of fire shot out of his mouth like a bullet and towards Flymon. The fireball hit its mark with a loud bang and Flymon plummeted to the ground, stunned. With the distractions gone, he hurried to Lucio to save him from Bobby's wrath. He would let no one kill his partner.
Just as he was about to scoop Lucio in his large hand and crush Bobby, a green blur entered his vision. Bobby vanished just as his nail stabbed the spot he was at a second prior. That's right. He completely forgot about Gargomon, but ignored him for the time being. His biggest priority was to get Lucio to safety and hold out long enough for backup to arrive, or if he killed the rest of the tamers in front of him.
He flew over to the tower and gently set his partner against the tower's side. Once he was sure Lucio was safe, he turned around and shot back to the fray. BlackGrowlmon, Flymon and Gargomon were waiting for him.
"We're not done with you yet!" Flymon shouted.
"That's right!" Mike yelled from the sideline.
BlackMetalGreymon said nothing. His body shook with chuckles which soon became full blown laughter. The group in front of him was very interesting and amusing. He had not had this much fun battling something in a long time.
"It's a shame I gotta' kill you all," BlackMetalGreymon said. "I was just starting to have fun!"
"Pump the brakes, ass clown. You're still fighting three of us!" Gargomon retorted.
"And I got a missile for every last one of you."
BlackMetalGreymon's chest opened wide again and three missiles came into view. A loud hiss and a whoosh filled the air when the missiles launched. They whistled towards the three of them. Gargomon and Flymon hurried off to lure the missiles away to avoid collateral damage, but BlackGrowlmon stayed put.
"Plasma Blade!" BlackGrowlmon bellowed.
The blade on his arm glowed bright and he slashed forward. There was silence when the blade cut clean through the missile, followed by a bright flash of light. A thunderous boom echoed around the desert as the missile exploded, engulfing BlackGrowlmon. The shockwave sent dust and a blast of air over everyone and everything in the field.
Gargomon stumbled from the shockwave and nearly lost his balance. He glanced over his shoulder and could see the missile upon him. Out of ideas, he did the only logical thing in his mind. He pushed off his feet and dove to the ground using his Gargo Pellet attack. His eyes stayed fixed on the large projectile as his bullets hit the tip of it. A smirk came to his face when a flash of light emitted from the missile a second later.
"Kaboom, baby!" Gargomon covered his head to protect himself.
The heat seared his body, and although the pain was intense, he did not scream. He was tough and he planned to keep that reputation with him to his grave.
Flymon continued his sharp, evasive maneuvers to shake the missile, but it proved futile. No matter where he turned, no matter what trick he did, the missile was hot on him. He gave a quick glance back and cursed. He was getting tired from all the dodging and it was only a matter of time before the missile reduced him to smithereens.
"Mike! I could use some help here!" Flymon hollered to his partner.
"Workin' on it, Flymon! Hold on!" Mike pulled out a fresh card.
Mike observed the card for a moment before he pulled another one from his holster. Once his eyes fell on it, he smirked. Now he was in business with a combo to keep Flymon from getting obliterated. He gripped the first card tight and slashed it.
Almost instantly, Flymon's speed increased and he pulled ahead of the missile. Once he was far enough ahead, Mike slashed his second card.
"Digi-Modify! Power activate!" He yelled.
Flymon glowed red for a brief moment as the new power surged through his body. He wheeled around and aimed his stinger carefully at the missile. Once it was in range he fired his attack.
"Deadly Sting!" He shouted.
The poisonous stinger flew at the missile and hit it dead on. Another deafening boom and blinding flash of light came. The blast of the explosion sent Flymon to the ground and he hit it hard a second later.
"Flymon!" Mike ran towards his partner.
When the dust settled, Flymon, Gargomon and BlackGrowlmon were revealed, covered in gunpowder and burns. The three of them struggled to stand again after the damage they took. The only one who was able to shake off the injuries was BlackGrowlmon and he stood tall once again.
"Just do yourself a favor and stay down," BlackMetalGreymon said with a scoff.
"I told you that I would kill you and your partner there before this was done, and I plan to do that!" BlackGrowlmon sneered back.
BlackMetalGreymon only shook his head as he glared at the defiant Digimon before him. His goal was admirable, but it was foolish. The only thing he would succeed in doing was fail and die.
"BlackMetalGreymon, let's finish these idiots off." Lucio appeared beside him a second later.
"Not happening!" Came Kyle's voice.
Lucio's eyes widened and his head snapped in the direction of Kyle's voice. His eyes fell on the tamer who was now standing up and holding his stomach. From the look of it, Nasrin had managed to slow his bleeding enough for him to stand again. Lucio clicked his tongue in annoyance and his brow furrowed at the sight. The kid refused to stay down.
"Why won't you die?" Lucio demanded.
"Because I don't quit!" Kyle shot back.
"I've had enough of you!"
Lucio gripped his D'Arc tightly as he glared at Kyle. His hero like attitude came back and it was stronger than ever. What he was looking at was a kid who filled the role of a hero like a glove and it angered him. What made him so special to defy the impossible and continue to fight? He growled and slashed his card.
"Digi-Modify! Speed activate!" Lucio spat.
"You're not going anywhere!" BlackGrowlmon charged at BlackMetalGreymon.
A loud thud sounded when BlackGrowlmon's full weight collided with BlackMetalGreymon and sent him staggering away. The force of the hit sent him to the ground and he was pushing himself up when Kyle made his move. It was time to end the fight.
"Digi-Modify! WarGreymon's Brave Shield activate!" Kyle yelled.
The giant shield appeared and BlackGrowlmon grabbed it just in time to block BlackMetalGreymon's flame attack. The flames split as they hit the shield and shot to the sides. BlackGrowlmon slowly moved forward and continued to block the incoming attacks.
"Giga Destroyer!" BlackMetalGreymon fired two large missiles.
The missiles whistled through the air and burst seconds later when they hit the shield. The smoke vanished to reveal BlackGrowlmon intact. He peeked over the shield at BlackMetalGreymon and smirked. Payback time. Not waiting for Kyle to make a call, he began to exact his revenge.
He sidestepped another Revenge Flame and wound his arms back while holding the shield. With a quick spin, he released the shield and sent it spinning towards BlackMetalGreymon. The surprise throw caught both BlackMetalGreymon and Lucio off guard. A loud ring came when the shield slammed into BlackMetalGreymon's protective mask and stunned him.
With BlackMetalGreymon stunned, BlackGrowlmon glanced at Kyle and nodded.
"Digi-Modify! Trident Arm activate!" Kyle slashed the card.
BlackGrowlmon's left arm turned white and shifted into a new robotic arm, similar to BlackMetalGreymon's. The shiny metal arm glistened in the light when he held it up and aimed it at his stunned target. There was a loud bang as the claw launched forward and pierced through BlackMetalGreymon's side. A loud roar of pain followed which made a smirk come to his face.
Ever since he saw Kyle and Bobby playing a very gory fighting game on a game console, there was one character that had a catchphrase he loved. Now that he was in a similar situation, he could not resist and took a deep breath.
"Get over here!" BlackGrowlmon yelled.
With a hard tug, he managed to pull BlackMetalGreymon towards him. He was wide open for an attack. The blade on his free arm extended and glowed a dark orange.
"Plasma Blade!" He swung his arm.
The blade sliced through BlackMetalGreymon and he hit the ground with a thunderous crash. BlackGrowlmon's upgrade vanished a second later and he turned to look at his downed enemy. His heavy footsteps made the ground shake a bit as he walked towards BlackMetalGreymon.
Lucio watched the whole counterattack take place and was shocked. There was no way that a champion level Digimon could have that much power and stamina to go toe to toe with an ultimate like he did. His mind then flashed back to what Kyle said about his partner being able to go toe to toe with champion level while he was a rookie. That alone meant it applied to when he Digivolved as well.
"I refuse to let you stupid heroes win!" Lucio slashed another card. "Recharge activate!"
A green light enveloped BlackMetalGreymon and his wounds began to heal. His eyes snapped open and he quickly pushed himself off the ground and thrust his claws forward.
"Trident Arm!" BlackMetalGreymon shouted.
His arm shot forth and pierced BlackGrowlmon's chest. The hit made him freeze in surprise and he looked down at the claw and grimaced. BlackGrowlmon fought the pain and with a shaking arm, grabbed the claw tight. He looked up and opened his mouth wide.
"Exhaust Flame!" He fired the flamethrower attack.
The massive flames swallowed BlackMetalGreymon, earning a cry of surprise from him. When the attack ended, half of his body was singed. He retracted his arm from BlackGrowlmon who fell to the ground with a crash. His body glowed white and he reverted back to his rookie form, BlackGuilmon.
BlackMetalGreymon was faring no better as he was hunched over trying to recover from the pain. His eyes scanned the field. He and Lucio won. It was a lot harder than they anticipated, but they succeeded in the end. All that was left was to finish them all off. He glanced back at his partner who looked satisfied with their job.
"Good job, BlackMetalGreymon." Lucio looked at him with a small smile. "Finish them off and we can leave."
"With pleasure." BlackMetalGreymon smirked.
His chest opened wide again as he prepared to fire his most powerful attack. A single, large missile poked out of his chest. It had razor sharp teeth towards the tip of it and red slits for eyes.
"Tera Destroyer!" He boomed.
The missile launched from his chest and high into the air. He watched with satisfaction as the missile went up high into the sky and then changed direction to come down on top of the tamers. He scooped Lucio up in his hand and glided out of the blast radius and turned to watch his victory.
"Lightning Joust!" A voice yelled.
A blinding flash of light intercepted the missile and it exploded a second later in a large ball of fire. A ringing sensation filled the ears of everyone under the blast and they looked up to see what the cause of it was. High in the sky was Gallantmon, Justimon, and Sakuyamon. Backup had arrived.
"Looks like we got here just in time," Justimon said, landing on the ground.
"Yeah." Gallantmon nodded.
Sakuyamon landed beside Gallantmon and did a quick look around. She frowned when she saw the state of the tamers. They had been thrashed. They all looked exhausted and defeat was etched in their faces. She then noticed that four members were missing. Andrew, Cerise, Lunamon and Commandramon were gone.
"Where's the rest of your team?" Sakuyamon turned to Kyle.
"That way." Kyle pointed north of the tower.
His arm dropped and he fell to the ground with a thud. Once he entered unconsciousness, Nasrin hurried to him again to check on his wound.
Not wasting time, Sakuyamon took to the air and flew in the direction Kyle pointed out. As she flew, she could see a pair of figures below her. One female and one Digimon. Although she was tempted to stop the woman in her tracks, she decided against it. She was coming from the direction where Andrew and Cerise were, and if that was the case, it did not look promising.
"Gallantmon and Justimon can handle her." She shook her head.
With that thought in mind, she soared as fast as she could.
Lucio glared at the newcomers. Just when he was about to seal the deal and leave, he got rudely interrupted and he did not like it one bit. Now he had an additional problem. His chances of winning had become very slim and the only good option that remained was to retreat and fight another day.
"Where do you losers keep coming from?" Lucio sneered at them.
"Don't worry about it," Justimon replied. "I hope you lived a full life, kid. Because we're gonna' take you down!"
"Shut up! Don't underestimate me! I still have one card left to play!"
Lucio hoped they were buying his bluff long enough for him to think of an escape plan. In truth, he had no energy left to continue fighting. He wasted all of it on the tamers in front of him in hopes of winning the fight early. If he were to biomerge with BlackMetalGreymon, they would not be able to last long.
"Bit off more than you could chew there, Lucio?" A voice asked from behind.
Lucio glanced back and could see Valerie and Elecmon standing on a large rock looking down at him. He was surprised that Martin kept his word. Now he had backup.
"This fight was mine before those two showed up." Lucio jerked his thumb at Gallantmon and Justimon.
"Typical." Valerie clicked her tongue. "Always jumping in headfirst without a plan of attack."
"At least I fight and don't cower like a child!"
Valerie's brow furrowed at that. She valued intelligence as strength. Fighting was barbaric and although she would never admit it out loud, she feared it. She was not one for physical strength and if she ever got caught in that matchup, she would lose easily. Her eyes bore into Lucio and she pursed her lips.
She was going to aid the boy in front of her, but now she had another idea. Her eyes glanced at the large spire to her right and then back to Lucio. She wanted to try a new function that she put into the towers. If it worked like she designed it to, it would send a dark ring programmed with a hostile virus to its target and corrupt it to make it stronger.
"Now get down here and make yourself useful for once!" Lucio shouted at her.
With her mind made up, Valerie looked down at her wrist. It was wrapped in velcro with a small PDA facing up towards her. She pulled out the stylus and tapped away at the screen. While she continued fiddling with the tower's controls, she ignored Lucio. When she finished, a cruel smirk came to her face and she pushed her glasses back up her nose. If he ended up dying, it saved her the trouble of killing him later.
"Is it time, Val? Huh?" Elecmon bounced on his heels.
"Yes it is, Elecmon." Valerie chirped back. "Yes it is."
With one last tap of the stylus, a loud clunk came from high above. She turned to see a secret wall open on the tower and two rings shot out of them like bullets. One soared for Lucio and the other went for BlackMetalGreymon. Valerie's smirk grew when she saw the looks of shock and confusion on their faces. The rings opened and then closed with a loud snap around them.
Both Lucio and BlackMetalGreymon grabbed at the metal rings and tried to pry them off, but it was no use. They were sealed on tightly and would not budge. They stopped struggling a second later as their bodies convulsed. Two loud screams reverberated around the base of the tower as Lucio and BlackMetalGreymon writhed in pain from the collars.
"What the hell's going on?" Justimon sent a quick look at Gallantmon.
"I don't know." Gallantmon shook his head. "But I think it's about to get nasty."
Lucio and BlackMetalGreymon stopped writhing and stood up gingerly. They turned to look at Justimon and Gallantmon. Their faces were ashen and their eyes were glowing blood red with vile, newfound power. They watched as Lucio held his D'Arc up high. His voice had become monotone.
"Biomerge activate!" He said almost robotically.
A gust of wind kicked up and black aura surrounded both Lucio and BlackMetalGreymon a second later. The two of them hovered in the air and then drifted closer to each other. The aura surrounding them grew and became a giant ball of malevolent darkness.
"BlackMetalGreymon Digivolve to…" A voice rang out.
The sphere of darkness then burst and sent waves of shadows over the group. They shielded themselves from the raw power and looked to see a fresh mega Digimon towering over them.
"Gaioumon!" The new Digimon roared.
Gaioumon was tall. The dark energy that flowed from him went well with his new appearance. He was covered in armor similar to what samurais wore in ancient times. Red eyes peeked out of a steel helmet that had sharp blades poking out the top of it. In each hand was a sharp, vicious looking blade, ready to cut down anything in its path.
Laughter filled the air. It was cold and menacing and sent chills down the spines of everyone around him. He tapped his blades together with a clang and sparks showered the ground.
"Let's see how you heroes deal with me now!" Gaioumon lunged at them.
That's part two of this three part series here. We got to see BlackGrowlmon be a bit of a badass, but it still was not enough. Now it's up to Takato/Gallantmon and Ryo/Justimon to face Gaioumon who is filled with dark power thanks to Valerie. Stick around to see what happens next. With that said, check out the statements/shout outs below, and I will see you next time.-CaptainPrice
1.) Remember what I said about reviewing. For those who already have their OC in a main spot in the story, don't forget to review. Like I said, I am keeping track and I already have tallies by people who have not been doing that. So don't be surprised if I decide to axe your guy and replace them with a reserve OC.
2.) Reserve OCs that replace a character that dies will be gender specific. So since Cerise was a girl, the OC to replace her will be a girl. Easy to understand, right?
