I do not own Yugioh, enjoy!

Chapter 20

The pressure holding him still was gone, and he slid down the brick wall not knowing if he was dead or still alive. His heart was beating at a thousand miles a second, he felt as if it was trying to escape his chest and run away. He heard yelling and arguing over the roaring sound in his ears. He touched his neck and came away with a wet red substance. There was pressure on his shoulder, but he couldn't tell if it was a hand or the reaper come to take his soul. Something shook him slightly, and his eyes focused on a figure above him, he could barely make out their lips moving in the faint light coming from somewhere above him.

"Yugi! Answer me damn it! I know you're alive!" a recognizable voice was shouting angrily.

Yugi…that was his name. He looked away from the figure above him and touched his neck again. The wet substance on his hands was still red. He pushed the hand on his shoulder away as he stood up, and started to stagger home. He had only made it two steps before that same figure of a person was in front of him, shaking him slightly as they grasped both of his shoulders. They were talking again, he thought in his fuzzy mind, at him. He attempted to focus on what they were saying, it must be important, if they were getting so angry.

"Yugi, talk to me! Just say something! Do you know who I am?" she shouted.

"You're angry." He said. She sighed in relief, and slammed him against her chest as she called out to someone behind him.

"He's fine, a little shaken up, but he's fine! I'm going to take him to his house; I'll bandage him up there. Take that bitch to Mira and Serenity. Explain what happened, and then grab Rebecca and have her go with you to see Atem. Come on Yugi, let's get you fixed up." The voice he was starting to recognize as Vivian's said.

He let her lead him home, and up into his living room. She had him sit on the couch, and she wandered off somewhere into the back part of his house. She came back with his first aid kit, and set to patching up his neck. Yugi sat docile like on the couch and let her. Two Pawns showed up and leaned against the wall across from him. He recognized one of them as Tracy, but he didn't have the faintest clue as to who the other girl was. She was huge though, in a muscular Yugi didn't ever want to tussle with her, type of way. Yugi also had no doubt that Mira had her in line to become a Knight. Mira would be a fool not to use a girl of this size to her advantage.

"There, all done. Come on, let's get you into bed, and we'll send someone round to wake you in the morning. We can't have you losing that scholarship of yours, now can we?" Vivian was talking again and lifting him from the couch at the same time. She helped him upstairs, out of his clothes, and into his star patterned pajamas. She then tucked him into bed, and left. Yugi heard them leave and then fell asleep soon after. He wasn't aware that his misfortune of this coming week was only beginning, things were about to get a lot worse for him.

[Atem]

He stood in the middle of the park not at all pleased about being called from his own search for his Servant, who was still missing. He had gotten a glimpse of Yugi earlier climbing into Kaiba's limo, when he had been searching over in that area. He hadn't gotten a wink of sleep for over 24 hours. As it was, it was starting to wear on his nerves. Which was why he was even less pleased when he saw Rebecca and Olivia, Mira's new Knight, strolling up to him, instead of the King herself.

"Here, you've been looking for this. We found it on the edge of our borders. Mira's still interviewing girl after girl to see who put him there. She still thinks the cut is off, almost like the person didn't want to cut him across the throat, but was forced to anyway. No girl would hesitate to cut an intruder, so we were just wondering why one of your Servant's was on the edge of our territory dead?" Rebecca explained getting right to it as Olivia dropped the Servant of the missing hour on the ground at his feet.

"Knives are your gang's specialty, so you tell me." Atem said squatting down and getting a better look at the cut on his throat. It was just as they described, timid and shy, but no Pawn was timid or shy when it came to a straight cut, and this one was all wibbly wobbly.

"We'll be sure to let you know as soon as we know more." Rebecca said and the two walked off.

Atem looked up at their retreating back, and frowned. Something was stirring, and it was stirring in all territories. Whoever was responsible for all these untimely deaths was going to be receiving the blunt side of Atem's gun, and the sharp edge of Mira's knife. He couldn't believe he was thinking this, but he needed to create a truce with Mira. His only problem? He didn't have anything she wanted.

[Mira]

"So you just saw him walking on the streets alone, and thought to yourself that you'd win brownie points with the King huh? Well, it seems your plan back fired pathetic Pawn. Not only did you attack the one man who's allowed to live on my property without an escort, but you attacked the one man I consider to be close to family of the gang. His Mother was my Mother's Queen." Mira was beyond pissed; she was as cold as ice. This Pawn was going to die tonight, and she was starting to get the feeling that even she knew it. You don't touch the truce piece with a blade, and live to tell about it.

"My King, I'm sorry I didn't know! I was unaware! Please forgive me!" the Pawn was groveling for her life and Mira was becoming disgusted by it.

"Ten more lashings." She ordered sitting back down in her seat.

Serenity stepped forward and delivered them. The girl was beyond broken; she was nothing more than a whimpering, groveling, begging mass of flesh and emotions. It disgusted Mira to know that someone so weak was among her ranks, and had been for six years now. Didn't recognize the name Yugi Mutou? Give me a break! You've been with her for six years, you know who he is, unless you've been hiding under a rock, you know who he is. Mira looked away from the torture in front of her to the surrounding Pawns, along the walls. She stood up and walked to the edge of the steps.

"Let this be a lesson to all of you. Yugi Mutou is no to be touched, under any circumstances with any weapons! I've grown tired of this, Tracy! Cull this bitchy maggot and dispose of the body outside of the funeral home! We don't give funerals to girls who step out of line!" Mira shouted out for the entire room to hear before walking out.

"No! My King! Please! Don't! I have siblings! Little brothers! Have mercy! Mer-" her cries were cut off in a gurgled word of mercy.

"Drop those brothers off in Atem's territory, he's got the orphanage." Mira said coldly to Pawn as she passed them.

"Yes, my King." She said looking at her feet before scampering off.

Mira burst into the tech room where Clarissa and another girl were working hard to get the bottom of the Servant's dead body on the edge of her territory. She gets home from Yugi's Grandfather's service, only to find her territory in an uproar. It didn't take long to figure out what was wrong.

"Well?" she asked demanding an answer immediately in her foul mood.

"It didn't come from any of our girls. That knife mark was made beyond our regions. The body was dumped on the edge of our borders not killed there. The lack of blood in the area that he was found in says that he was moved. His name was Tyler; he had a wife, who has been widowed, and a son. So she may be able to stay in Atem's territory just based on the fact that there is a male in the house, but she could be moving back here too. Her name was Willow Harris, if she moves back here she'll be placed in a civilian household. That's all I've been able to dig up so far, but I'll keep looking." Clarissa answered right away without a moment's hesitation.

"Very well, who are you?" Mira asked turning to the other girl in the room.

"I'm Mercy Laurence, I have a degree in technical analyzing, and Knight Rebecca thought I could be of help." she said nervousness written all over her face.

"Clarissa is your superior, you listen to her when there is no one of higher rank around, is that understood? And you know, most Pawns who go off to College never come back." Mira said immediately.

"Yes, my King, and I'm not most Pawns." She said nodding quickly.

"Clearly, if she acts up, you are to report it." Mira said before leaving swiftly.

"Yes, Mira." She heard as a quiet reply.

"You can call her by her real name?" the Pawn asked surprised and horrified.

"Only if you can get on her good side." Clarissa responded. Mira's mood lightened just a fraction of a hair at that comment, but not enough that Pawns weren't jumping to attention as she stormed down the hallway towards the kitchens.

Mira opened the fridge and grabbed a beer, opened it and chugged it down, before grabbing another one and drinking that one less quickly. She leaned against the fridge, and sighed. Things were getting worse by the day and her gut was telling her that things were only going to get worse this week. She was going to have to be on high alert to overcome whatever was coming this week. She was losing a Knight, she knew that much, but which one? Vivian, Rebecca, or her new one Olivia? She sighed and took a huge gulp of her beer. Her Knights were going to be kept close to home this week, and maybe, just maybe, they could all get through this week alive.

[Penny]

"Yes, it's all taken care of." Penny said over the phone.

"It better be, because you're costing me time here, Penny." Satake said back.

"Well, these things do take some time you know. They don't just happen overnight. Patience and they'll all get what they deserve in the end." Penny said calmly.

"You have a month to finish the task, before I give it to someone else." Satake said.

"Don't worry; it'll be all taken care of by then." Penny assured as she looked out at the city from her office view.

"It better be, because I'd hate to think I wasted all that time teaching you stealth for nothing." Satake growled over the line.

"Chill Satake, I've got this handled." Penny said with annoyance creeping into her voice.

"Fine, I'll call back on Sunday for an update." Satake said.

Click.

"What an ass." Penny muttered as she hung up her phone. She knew what she was doing; he just needed to trust her methods of choice. Honestly, the man couldn't go one day without checking up on her. Did he really think her that incompetent? After all she could handle a business, killing wasn't that much different. It was all a matter of business. And a good business knew how to get the job done right, the first time. She was a good business woman, and she knew how to get the job done right.

Penny put the files from that days meetings in her briefcase, and set off out of the building and for home. She didn't know of the dangerous games that Satake was playing in the streets, nor did she care. All she cared about was her revenge. And anyone who got in her way was as good as dead to her, no matter whom they may be. She had waited too long for this opportunity, and nothing was going to stop her from grasping it.
