Selena's Secret
Chapter 20: Part 2
Selena was awaken once again. This time, the moon shone in the cloudless night sky. Luke's rough hand was resting on her smooth cheek. Once her eyes met his, she jolted backwards away from him.
"Shh! It's two in the morning!" Luke hissed, his eyes jolting around to make sure no one was awaken. He slid his hand under hers and guided Selena out of the building. Once outside, Selena whipped her hand out of his, causing his arm to become bent out of shape.
"Ouch!" He hollered, rubbing his shoulder. Selena brushed her shoulders and flipped her hair to the side snobbishly. The man wearily extended his hand to her and whispered, "I think we should talk."
"I'm not doing this again." Selena susurrated, turning to return to bed. Luke squeezed her shoulder and mumbled, "Please."
The duo strolled down to the beach and plunked down in the white sand. Selena ran her fingers through the tiny grains as Luke built a cushion for his head. They both laid down and stared at the stars. There was an awkward silence for about a good thirty minutes, but both were actually enjoying the night so it didn't matter.
"I want to say I'm sorry." Luke said, breaking the hush. "I really wasn't a man for so long. I can understand why you hate me."
Selena rolled on her side and faced him, "I can't hate you. You're too goofy!"
Luke quivered and rolled to face her, "I was such a jerk. I can't believe you're doing this."
Selena stroked his cheek, which was wet from his salty tears. She then combed her fingers through his hair and sighed, "We both were out of control." Luke smiled and placed his palm on her cheek. The couple locked lips for a few minutes before Selena pushed Luke back.
"What was the important thing you wanted?" She muttered, blushing from their sudden love. Luke cleared his throat and began to tell her the story of the girl in the woods, the squirrels, and the ring. Selena listened intently and occasionally giggled at Luke's terrible story telling.
"And then the girl was gone!" He concluded. Selena pursed her lips. Suddenly, a thought occurred to her, "Did the girl have green hair? Really young? Blue eyes?" Luke's nodding became vigorous by the last question. Selena sprang up and shouted, "Sephia! That's Sephia!"
Luke cocked his body up lazily, "Who is Sephia? Don't tell me you had another kid." Selena punched Luke's knee and yelled, "Sephia! Sephia who left this!" She pointed to the golden band on her arm.
Selena hoisted Luke up by the shoulders and shook him around, "Sephia! Sephia! Sephia! She knows something! She knew everything about my family!"
"Maybe she's a friend of Lucy's?"
"They have talked a few times… But I don't think Lucy would tell her that much!"
"Who is Sephia?!" Luke said, his voice rising with anticipation.
"Whoever she is, she's not telling the truth."
The Harvest Goddess Spring had dried up.
End of Chapter 20.
