Chapter 20
Jaina made her way up the stairs to the nursery when she heard her twins demanding some attention. She walked into the nursery and picked up Hadrian, and behind her was Jag on his way to pick up Halia. They did a diaper check before making their way back downstairs where their family would be gathering to watch the holo net report on the pictures of the twins.
Jaina could hear her father speaking to her mother, as Luke, Mara and Ben walked in the house. As they walked down the stairs, Mara was setting up the food in the living room, as Luke went to the closet to bring out the carriers for the twins. Once they set the twins down in the carriers, Jacen and Tahiri walked through the doorway into the house. Luke, Jag and Jacen began setting up the tables and food for the holonet party. Tahiri was holding her holdson while Jaina entertained Ben, and Mara held her holddaughter. Han and Leia burst through the door only a few minutes before the holonet report was slated to start.
"I can't believe it," Han said loudly, "It took her all the time between when she got back to our house and the time we left to get ready. We live nextdoor for crying out loud."
"Kid, I hope my daughter isn't as bad as her mother, or it's gonna be a long 'til death do us part'. " Han commented
"No, I grew up with Wynssa Starflare as a mother, so anything is better than that. And my sister Wyn is worse than my mother, which just completely blows my mind." Jag said.
"Jaina, promise me something," Han said.
"I never promise anything." Jaina said with a smirk.
"Promise me that if all of this goes sour that I can lock my grandkids away here for the rest of their natural lives, or at least the rest of my natural life."
"No!" Every adult in the room shouted simultaneously.
"I'm pretty sure that even if things don't go over well there are enough jedi in our family that no one will be able to touch the kids." Jaina said.
"Alright, we'd better turn on the holonet before we miss it.' Han said acting like somone just stole his favorite toy.
Jacen was sitting on the floor closest to the holonet so he reached over and turned it on.
As soon as the holonet loaded, the news program began.
The news anchor spoke "Breaking News! Baby Bliss for Jag Fel and Jaina Solo-Fel!"
"Jagged Fel and Jaina Solo-Fel are the proud parents of twins, the family confirmed today. Exclusive holos released to GFFA Weekley earlier today show the Solo-Skywalker family with the newborn twins."
A picture of Jag and Jaina holding the twins was shown up on the screen, followed by the entire Solo-Skywalker family surrounding the proud parents and the twins.
"The twins, a boy Hadrian, and a girl Halia are shown in several of the pictures that will be featured in this week's issue of GFFA Weekly. We unfortunately only have access to a few of the exclusive holos." The anchor said.
She continued. "The date when the twins were born has not yet been confirmed. This renews the questions that were asked at the time of the wedding a few months back. Let's now go to our correspondant on Mon Cal."
"Since the last time the Solo-Fel family made the news, there have been very few sightings of either of them. The last time we saw Jag Fel we asked him about the rumours surrounding his wife's pregnancy."
A clip of Jag and Soontir walking into a building was shown. The reporter spoke to Jag "Where have you and Jaina been hiding these last few months?"
Jag replied "Other than the occaisional meeting, we've been on Mon Cal since the wedding."
"Why haven't you been at your appartment?" the reporter asked.
"We've been there; we just haven't used the main entrance since we knew that you reporters would be camped out there night and day. Its called being incognito." Jag answered smoothly.
"Is Jaina pregnant?" the reporter continued.
Jag chuckled, "No, she isn't. I'm pretty sure everyone would know if she was."
"That was the last time that any news personnel spoke with a member of the Solo family. News teams on Mon Cal are on high alert, waiting patiently for any sign that the Solo-Fel babies are on planet. Back to you."
The feed returned to the news anchor. "Following the press release this afternoon, we spoke with the Solo family spokesperson. When we asked where Jag and Jaina were, the spokesperson simply had this to say. 'Jagged and Jaina are doing what any new parents would be doing, enjoying the time they have with their newborn children. They are surrounded by family and friends who are equally thrilled with the arrival of the twins. We would ask that you please respect their privacy, as well as the privacy of their family members so as to not dampen the celebratory mood felt by all in the Solo-Skywalker and Fel families.' "
"Now, as to the burning question of when the twins were born; we are trying to find that out. As for where they are hiding out, many are now beginning to suspect that they are in fact not on Mon Cal or Denon, but are staying at the new Jedi academy. The location of the Jedi Academy is unknown to those outside of the Order, but tips are coming in every day, and as soon as we find out where they are we'll try to get a sit down interview with them. That's all for our breaking news for tonight. See you tomorrow."
"Well that wasn't so bad." Han commented.
"It could potentially be that bad." Luke said.
"How do ya figure?"
"Well for one thing, they are now starting to figure out that Jaina and Jag aren't on Mon Cal. And secondly, they are now publically asking for tips as to where the Jedi Academy is. I know that they won't really be able to find where it is unless they are force sensitive, but if some parents of students want to make some money they can sure tell them where to look." Luke explained to the group.
"You're right." Jaina said. "What are the odds that one or more of the reporters are force sensitive and just don't know it yet."
"I don't know though," Han said, "We've designed the anti-detection program pretty well before everyone got here. I doubt that they would be able to find this place."
"We always have to be prepared for the possibility that they could." Leia added.
"Even if they were able to find out where everyone is hiding, they would never be able to get approval to land. You have to have approval to land here, and press has never had and will never have approval to land." Mara stated.
"Well as far as I'm concerned, we'll have to cross that bridge when we get to it, because if not all we'll be doing is fretting until something does happen." Leia said.
"I'm just glad that they actually have to try to find us. Could you imagine if we were still on Mon Cal, they'd be pounding on our door all day and all night. We would never be able to go out anywhere, at least this way we can go around with the twins in a stroller and not have to worry about reporters hounding us. The only thing we have to worry about are curious little Jedi who want to get a look at our kids." Jaina said.
"Maybe I'll have to go over to Mon Cal just to shut them up." Jag commented to no one in particular.
"Are you nuts? Why would you want to go into that media storm willingly?" Jaina asked shocked.
"You have to admit it would make them stop looking. We could consult with Mara and Iella and make it work. Besides…hasn't our whole relationship been a media storm?" Jag pointed out.
"Unfortunately it has. I swear if I had known that you had such a fan club I would have married Joe Regular."
"Jaina!" Leia exclaimed.
"What? He knows I love him, I'm just saying."
"Jag does havea point though." Mara commented.
"How so?" Jaina asked.
"Well if they see you on Mon Cal they will likely stop looking for you anywhere else."
"How would we make it work? If they were watching the docking bays they would see the Goddess and then our mode of escape would be blown." Jaina asked.
"Well we could get Iella to find us a docking bay that is private and have her scan it for any security feeds when you land."
"Okay, but they would still look for how we got there. We'd need a diversion that doesn't include Janson in an ewok costume."
"Well I'm sure your parents would be more than willing to help us out. We could work it so that the Falcon and the Shadow dock around the same time in a more public docking bay so that you guys could slip in unnoticed. If you managed to get out unnoticed, you could probably get back on planet unnoticed since no one has actually seen the Goddess as much as the rest of the ships in our family. Just get a couple fake transponder codes and we're all set."
"My my Jade, you never cease to amaze me with your secret plans."
"Well, secrecy was my occupation before smuggling and being a Jedi."
"Well, at least Luke didn't marry an airhead." Han commented.
"He would never have married an airhead, she would never have challenged him like I do." Mara pointed out.
Luke made a small scoffing noise. Mara turned and glared daggers at him.
Leia interrupted. "I do agree that Mara's plan could work, we would just have to fine tune the details further.
After they finished eating, they moved the party up into Jag's office where they could access a commstation.
They keyed in Iella and Wedge's home frequency and waited until Iella's face appeared on the screen.
"A call from Ossus, to what do we owe the honour?" Iella asked smiling.
"I need a partner in crime." Mara said.
"Oh no, is Luke boring you again?"
Mara looked back at Luke and smirked. "Yes, but that isn't why I'm calling."
"What kind of adventure are you looking for?"
"I need a foolproof way of sneaking my niece and your nephew onto the planet so that the holo-press thinks that they've been on Mon Cal all along." Mara explained.
"Sounds like fun to me. I know you probably have this thought out, so what exactly did you have in mind?"
