Chapter 21: the Fairies GatherEveryone froze; no one was sure what to do next.
All of our eyes were on the door that Gajeel had left just moments ago.
The mood had changed so quickly and so suddenly. I looked around the room, trying to figure out what to do next.
I bit my lip for a moment, trying to think of what to do next.
To tell the truth, I was actually quite concerned about the situation I was in. We realized that the situation that we are in now is a complete mess. Though a mess was a complete understatement and I had very reason to be worried, but that was not what I was worried about…I was worried about Gajeel.
I finally I built up enough courage to make my way to the door that Gajeel had just left from. I was about to touch the door handle when…
"Where are you going?" Lucy asked softly.
"To go see if Gajeel is okay," I replied.
"I don't think that is a good idea," Lily said as he stepped forward.
"Why?" I asked.
'Why can't I?! You saw him walk out! He needs to talk to someone!'
"Because Gajeel was from Phantom Lord Pub, he could be in more danger than ever before." Lily explained.
My heart ached.
Lily was right, unlike myself I would turned to my friends for help and support. However Gajeel was different…he was raised differently than I was and applying the same principles would be counterproductive.
I took a deep breath as everything began to hit me like a ton of bricks,'everyone in Fairy Tail was in danger…and it is all my fault…'
My heart raced, my breathing became shallow, and before I knew it I was panicking.
'What have I gotten myself and everyone else in Fairy Tail into?' I thought in horror.
I felt numb and ashamed. I could feel the shock start to set in; I did my best to shake off the negative emotions. However, I couldn't shake them.
My body felt numb and it also felt like time has stopped.
'What do I do?!' I panicked.
I was deep in thought and what snapped me out of it was the sound of Mira's voice.
The white haired woman's voice was soft and gentle. It was such a nice voice that it could easily put a baby to sleep. Or in my case bring me back to reality.
"We should make our way back to Fairy Tail," Mira said softly.
Wordlessly everyone made their way to the door and made their way out of the store. They made their way to the door, but I did not move out of the door. I actually moved away from the door so that everyone could pass me.
Everyone noticed, however, it was Lucy who spoke.
"Lev?" Lucy asked.
My emotions became too overwhelming for me to handle and I began to cry. My legs came out from under me and I landed on the floor
"Levy?" Lucy asked concerned, "are you okay?"
"I-I'm sorry," I said as the tears fell down my face.
"For what?" Mira asked, as concern appeared on her face.
"For everything," I hiccupped, "If I wasn't so selfish in becoming a great detective like my great-uncle. I wouldn't have put everyone in Fairy Tail in so much danger,"
"You didn't know," Mira cooed and gently placed a hand on my shoulder.
"I should have!" I snapped as more tears ran down my face.
Everyone was quiet while as I still sobbed.
A small part of me felt like a little girl who needed to be comforted by her parents.
I continued to cry, feeling bad for what I have done.
Though, unknowing to me, while I was still crying, Gajeel had returned.
"What are you crying about?" Gajeel asked.
Slowly, I looked up and I saw that Gajeel had just returned. He was partway through the door.
"I'm sorry," I whimpered.
Gajeel frowned, "for what?"
"For putting you through everything,"
There was an awkward and tense pause.
"What the hell?!" Gajeel snapped.
"Gajeel!" Mira snapped.
"What?!"
"That is no way in comforting Levy!" Mira snapped.
Gajeel growled and turned his attention back at me.
"So are you going to give up and quit?" Gajeel asked me.
Gajeel waited for me to answer but I could not respond I could only stare and sniffle at the tall me in front of me.
"Answer me," Gajeel hissed.
"I-I don't know…" I whipered
"If you don't know, then why are you apologizing earlier?!" Gajeel snapped.
"Because I put everyone I know in danger!" I shrieked
"Yeah, but that didn't stop you before!"
I paused.
"I am a well-known thug…I stole things, I have seriously injured people, and I have even killed a few people…but you knew that,"
I did not respond, I only listened, allowing the words to process.
"You risked your life to help me…"
"That requires courage," Lily explained as he entered the conversation.
"He's right," Lucy said with a smile on her face.
I wiped some tears from my face.
"No one on this planet would want to help Gajeel," Lucy explained with a smile, "except you,"
"That doesn't mean anything," I frowned.
Lucy frowned, "Yes it does,"
"You put others first before yourself," Lily explained.
"He's right," Mira chimed in, "Yes we are in a tight spot, but that does not mean we will surrender to the likes of those people,"
"Besides," Lucy smiled, "we are Fairy Tail,"
I allowed everyone's words to sink it and realized that they were all right.
With a deep breath, I recollected myself.
"Thank you," I said to everyone.
"About time," Gajeel said as he folded his arms, "I don't want the detective that I hired to quit on me,"
I frowned, "You didn't hire me,"
Gajeel rolled his eyes, "whatever,"
I heard Lucy giggle, Lily and Leo chuckle
"Well, it appears that everything is back to normal," Capricorn noted.
"Yes," Mira smiled, "it appears so,"
Capricorn nodded.
"Shall we make our way back to Fairy Tail," Leo asked everyone
"Yes," I said as I stood up from the floor, "Master Makarov must be aware of the situation that we are in."
Everyone nodded.
"It also means that everyone in Fairy Tail is involved," I began, "which also means that we have to be very careful from now on,"
"What do you suggest?" Leo asked.
"I suggest that we stay in groups, at least two or three,"
"So that means that Lil', me, and the shrimpette and I are a group," Gajeel noted.
'Stop calling me that!'
"Correct," I nodded.
"Do we pick our group?" Lucy asked.
"Yes, I'll ask if Makarov can contact everyone so that everyone is informed about the situation."
"How soon do you want everyone to know?" Mira asked.
"As soon as possible,"
Mira nodded, "which is why we are going to Fairy Tail to inform Master,"
I nodded.
"So the sooner we go to Fairy Tail, the sooner everyone can group up," Leo said.
"Right,"
"Alright," Leo said, "I will take the men,"
"I will drive the ladies," Capricorn said.
Everyone nodded and then we separated to the cars.
"Uh, Levy?" Bisca asked, "I know that I am not part of the group…but is it alright if I come?"
I was surprised that Bisca asked, but I smiled and replied, "of course,"
Lucy, Mira, and I sat in the back while Bisca sat in the front.
Capricorn started the car and it jerked forward.
"So…" Mira purred, "You don't like Gajeel,"
"You love him…" Lucy purred.
'Not this again!'
"You like Gajeel?!" Bisca asked in shock,
"Lucy has a thing with Natsu!" I countered
"Oh, sweetie, we knew this from the very start," Mira waved it off.
"From the very beginning?" Lucy asked raising an eyebrow.
"Oh, I knew," Mira nodded.
Lucy blinked a few times.
Bisca just watched as the event played out.
"Now," Mira smiled, "back to you and Gajeel,"
I shook my head.
Mira, Lucy, and Bisca pestered me throughout the whole car ride.
…
"Alright," Capricorn said as he parked the car in front of Fairy Tail, "We are in front of the pub,"
'Thank you'
I quickly opened the car door and jumped out of the car. Mira, Bisca, and Lucy followed right behind me as we got out of the car as I made my way to the pub doors.
I pushed open the door to get into the pub.
Because it was still early enough where no one was around; but late enough for the bar to be open. Which means, Makarov is in the back of the bar sorting out papers, taxes, and bills.
I quickly jogged my way through the pub as quickly as my little legs could carry me.
'I have to hurry,'
Once I was at the bottom of the stairs, I ran up the stairs that sat in the back of the bar. Finally, I arrived at the second floor of the pub, I ran down the hall where Makarov's office was.
I saw that there was light coming from under the door of Makarov's office.
'Okay, Master Makarov is here'
I did not bother to slow down; I awkwardly yet quickly opened the door.
"Master!" I yelled into Makarov's office.
Master looked up at me surprised.
"What's wrong?" Makarov asked.
"We have a problem," I wheezed, trying to get the air back in my lungs.
Makarov frowned, "what do you mean?"
Before I could open my mouth, I heard a pair of footsteps running down the hall.
I looked and there was Lucy, Mira, and Bisca running towards me.
"Did Levy tell you?" Lucy asked.
"No," Makarov frowned, "and please tell me what is going on,"
"We may have an issue with Phantom Lord, Raven Tail, and Tartarous," Mira began.
"And," I wheezed as I finished for Mira, "that the possibility that those pubs may create the RPT group again,"
Makarov's eyes went wide, "how did this happen?"
"It was my fault," I said stepping forward, "the store owners were asking strangely."
"Hon, it wasn't your fault," Bisca cooed
"I know…but still," I sighed
"No one would have expected this to happen," Lucy reassured.
I slowly nodded my head.
"Lucy is right," Master said, "and I know you must feel bad about the situation that we are in…however, the more details we have about the situation we are in the better,"
I gave a loud sigh, "We questioned the store owners about what they knew...however, they wouldn't tell us anything."
"When they returned," Mira began, "I forced myself to go with them so that I could help Levy…"
"Little did we know that the store owner that when we questioned wasn't talking so that he could protect his family." Lucy finished
"As soon as that happened, the man tried to kill himself and then we found out that Raven Tail, Phantom Lord, or Tartarous may have something to do with the murders," I explained.
"Then we arrived here as soon as possible to tell you," Mira explained
The old man rubbed his chin, he was deep in thought.
"Get everyone here who are regular at this pub," Makarov ordered, "and make sure that no one goes outside alone, I don't want any of my children to get hurt."
"Right," we all shouted.
With that we all ran out of Makarov's office and into the bar.
"What about the boys?" Lucy asked.
"We can wait for them here and once we inform them of Makarov's orders we will split up into two teams and gather everyone," Mira advised.
We all nodded.
"What about me though," Bisca asked, "I do not know a soul in this place,"
"You can stay here," I suggested.
Bisca sighed, "Alright,"
"It will seem boring, but once everyone arrives, it will get very lively and you would wish for the quiet," Lucy smiled.
Bisca raised an eyebrow.
'Trust me Bisca, she's right,'
With that, the three of us made our way to the door.
"What are Master's orders?" Capricorn asked.
"Get everyone here," Lucy commanded.
Capricorn nodded.
"Is it alright if I go back home to gather the entire Zodiac and come back?" Lucy asked Mira and me.
"Yes that's fine," I said, "Mira and I will wait until the men arrive,"
"I'll ask if Cancer and Taurus could drive their vehicles, so that we would be able to round up the regulars," Lucy said as she opened the car door.
Mira and I nodded
"We'll wait for the men to return," Mira smiled
Lucy nodded and jumped in the front seat of the car.
The car jumped to life again and raced down the street.
'Now for the men,' I thought.
I bit my bottom lip, hoping that they would appear at any second.
"Patience," Mira hummed, "it's a virtue."
"Yes, well, I also value my life," I noted.
"You can act calm when they arrive, but once they're outside of the car, then you can yell at them."
'You make it sound easy Mira,'
I blew any stray hairs out of my face.
I was becoming very impatient.
Finally, when I was about to scream to the heavens, Leo's car arrived.
'Act calm…act calm…ACT CALM…'
The car parked in front of us.
"What took you guys so long!?" I yelled.
'I tried…'
"Sorry," Leo said, "Gajeel tossed his cookies…"
I scrunched my nose, 'ew'.
"He'll have to wait in the pub with Bisca so that he can recover," Mira said.
Leo nodded and went to the back of the car to go get Gajeel.
"I'm fine!" Gajeel growled.
"But you can barely stand on your own!" Leo countered.
"Who fucking cares!" Gajeel snapped back.
I sighed
"Gajeel can you please go inside?" I asked impatiently.
"Who bunch up your panties shortie?" Gajeel asked as he came into view.
My face turned a bright red out of embarrassment and anger.
"Makarov said that we have to gather all the regulars," Mira explained, "there are a few nearby, so Levy and I will go get them."
"What about everyone else?" Leo asked.
"You and Lily can drive around to get anyone who is farther away," I explained.
"Where is Lucy?" Lily asked.
"She went to get the rest of the Zodiac," I explained.
"Alright," Leo nodded, "I'll take Gajeel inside and then Lily and I will drive around and see if I can pick anyone up,"
I nodded.
"Shall we go Levy?" Mira asked.
"Let's go,"
Mira and I ran, in the best of our ability, being that we wearing heels. We made our way down the block until we made it a fortune teller store.
"Do you know if Cana is home?" I asked.
"She should be," Mira said.
I knocked on the door, but there was no answer.
"Cana!" I yelled.
Still nothing.
I sighed, 'this is important'
"Cana!" Mira yelled, "No alcohol for a week!"
A window above us opened, "What do you mean no drinks for a week?!" Cana yelled, "What did I do?!"
Cana had long dark brown hair, a bit of a tan, and a thing for alcohol.
"Cana," I yelled, "you have to go to the pub"
Cana raised an eyebrow, "Why?"
"It's important,"
Cana thought for a moment.
"What's more important…?" Cana asked herself out loud, "my job, a nap, or my drinks?"
"If you don't come, Fairy Tail will be gone and you will have nowhere else to get cheap drinks!"
The comment got Cana's attention.
"I'll be down in a minute," Cana yelled down.
Cana quickly closed the window and within a minute, she was out.
"Alright," Cana sighed, "this better be good,"
Cana had her hair in loose waves; she was wearing a navy blue dress that ended at her ankles, and black flat shoes.
"There is a possibility that Raven Tail, Phantom Lord, and Tartarous might have recreated a large guild together and now it seems that they are after us." I explained.
"So…" Cana tilted her head a little, "two of the most threatening pubs are after us…but I have never heard of Tartarous…who are they?"
"Apparently, Raven Tail, Phantom Lord, and Tartarous was a large pub called, RPT once upon a time…however, they disbanded," I explained.
"Then why should we be concerned?" Cana asked.
"We don't know much about Tartarous,' Mira explained
"But," I cut Mira Jane off, "what we do know so far, is that it seems that they recreating the pub again and it seems that Master knows about RPT,"
"Well, he's old enough to know…but why are they on our tail feathers?" Cana asked
"Somehow we got in the way" Mira explained.
"So…We have three angry and powerful pubs on our asses," Cana finished.
I sighed, "Yes,"
Fairy Tail has a history of getting itself into a mess, though not as much as Raven Tail's and Phantom Lord's. So I was not completely surprised that Cana reacted the way that she did. However, with the fact that there were three pubs coming after us…then we should be concerned.
"Cana," I asked, "do you think you can do some fortune telling?"
Cana gave me a strange look, "of course,"
"Once we get everyone arrive at the pub, I need to do a card reading so that we can predict what is to come."
"So once we have an idea of what is to come, then we are going to build a strategy from that," Cana thought out loud.
I nodded.
"Alright," Cana stretched, "let's make our way to the pub…or else we might get shot here,"
"C-Cana," I stuttered, "that not funny,"
Cana just smiled and walked down the sidewalk.
I sighed.
"Let's go Levy, we have to gather more people," Mira said.
"Okay,"
We informed Cana a little more about the situation that we were in as we made our way to the bar.
Along the way, we walked into a restaurant that Jet works at.
We were greeted by a woman with light blue hair and fair skin.
"May I help you?" the woman asked.
"We are looking for Jet," I replied.
"Jet?" the woman responded, "But he's working,"
"I know, but it's an emergency,"
The woman blinked a few times, "R-Really?"
We all nodded.
"Oh, well, I will go get him… I will be right back,"
The woman quickly ran to one part of the restaurant to find my friend. She disappeared behind a door.
It didn't take long for my friend to make his way to the front of the restaurant.
"What is the emergency?" Jet asked.
"It seems that Fairy Tail is in danger,"
"What?!" Jet gasped, "Why?!"
Cana sighed, "It's a long story…"
"How long?" Jet asked.
"long enough to where I do not know the whole story," Cana explained
"…well, that isn't good,"
"No,"
"Alright, shall we make our way to Fairy Tail?" Mira suggested.
"Yes, let's," Jet nodded.
The five of us made our way outside of the restaurant and back on the sidewalk.
"…It's a long story and I believe Master will be able to inform all of us better than I can," I admitted.
"Well, it sounds like we are going to have fun," Cana sighed, "but I'll certainly look at what the future holds,"
"Thank you Cana," Mira smiled.
We were mere feet away from the pub.
Cana opened the door and Gajeel jumped out of the pub.
"Don't judge," Gajeel hissed, "I need some fucking air,"
I blinked a few times and I looked inside the pub.
To my surprise, the pub was almost half full.
"Apparently blondie was able to get a majority of everyone because of servants," Gajeel explained.
"That's Lucy for you," I smiled.
I caught Gajeel roll his eyes.
"Well, I'm going to leave you two to bring the last few people," Mira smiled as she pushed Jet inside the pub.
"Mira what are you going?!" Jet asked frantically, not really sure what the white haired woman was doing.
"Oh, nothing," Mira hummed.
'What is going on?'
I watched as Mira, Cana, and Jet made their into the pub.
"M-Mira…" I stuttered.
"Oh, darn…" Cana sighed, "It seems we forgot Natsu,"
"That's right," Mira said, "why don't you go get Natsu…Lucy would want him here,"
"You're right," Cana smiled, "in that case…"
"Why don't you and Gajeel go and get Natsu?" Mira suggested.
"M-Me?!" I shrieked.
"Yes," Mira clapped
"That is a great idea!" Cana smiled, "and in the meantime…have fun you two,"
"Cana! Not you too!" I shrieked.
Both Cana and Mira closed the door and locked us out.
"Let me in!" Gajeel slammed the door with his fist.
"Not until you bring Natsu," Mira said through the other side of the door.
"But shouldn't Lucy get Natsu?!"
"Lucy is with Capricorn and won't be able to get Natsu,"
"But Gajeel and Natsu don't like each other!"
"It's not my problem!" Cana yelled from the other side of the door.
I sighed, 'fantastic…'
"Fuck…" Gajeel growled.
"Let's go Gajeel," I sighed as I led the way to Natsu's house.
Gajeel followed me as he easily matched my pace.
"You walk slowly," Gajeel said.
"I have short legs," I told Gajeel.
"No kidding," Gajeel sighed.
We turned a few corners and walked another block until we were in front of Natsu's house.
"This is Salamander's house?" Gajeel asked pointing to a small house at the end of the block.
I nodded, "Yes, how did you know?"
"I can smell him from over here," Gajeel said scrunching his nose.
'That's right,' I thought, 'dragon slayers have heightened senses…'
We made our way to Natsu's house; it didn't take us long, about five minutes for us to each the end of the block.
"I'll wait here," Gajeel said as he folded his arms over his chest.
"O-oh okay…"
I walked up to knock on the door, but it suddenly opened and it hit me in the face.
"Oi metal head!" Natsu yelled, "what are you doing over at my house?!"
"Why should I tell you?" Gajeel sneered.
"Would you ballbags shut up?!" I shouted on the other side of the door, "We are in a situation and you are fighting like two year olds!"
The two dragon slayers stopped.
"Gajeel and I came by to pick you up," I advised Natsu.
"Pick me up?" Natsu asked as an eyebrow rose.
"Fairy Tail is currently in a tight situation right now."
Natsu still did not understand what I was trying to tell him.
I face palmed, "Raven Tail, Phantom Lord, and Tartarous might go after Fairy Tail!"
Anger appeared on Natsu's face, "What the hell…why?"
"Well…we may have tampered with something…and now they are coming after us. So the master wants us to go to the pub and we'll explain everything,"
Natsu nodded and right before the pink hair dragon slayer closed the door, a blue cat slipped out.
"Happy, do you want to come too?" Natsu asked as he pet cat.
The cat purred in response.
Happy was a cat that Natsu found when he was little. What is strange about Happy is that the cat has blue fur. However, I have blue hair, so it is not that weird. It is possible that it is due to a genetic defect.
Natsu picked up his cat, locked his door, and made his way to the sidewalk.
"Do you think we can pick up some fish for Happy?" Natsu asked.
I nodded, "That's fine,"
"Shouldn't we just make our way to the pub instead?" Gajeel asked with an annoyed tone in his voice.
"Shouldn't you keep your mouth shut?" I mumbled, just loud enough for Gajeel to hear.
It was
No one spoke as we walked a few blocks to the fish store.
Natsu went to the counter to buy some fish for Happy, while Gajeel and I stood by the door.
It was a small store, but once you entered, it smelled like rotten fish. I did not like the smell, so I held my breath, but I was human and I needed oxygen.
"You hate the smell of fish too?" Gajeel asked.
I looked up at Gajeel.
I slowly nodded.
"It's worse when you're a dragon slayer…it's ten times worse."
"Yuck," I gagged
"Alright," Natsu smiled, "Happy has his fish; let's go to Fairy Tail,"
"Oh, you're going to Fairy Tail?" an elderly woman asked.
"Yes," I frowned slightly, "why do you ask?"
"That pub has caused so much trouble for us…I wish they tore it down," the woman huffed.
'I'm sorry, I really am…'
"B-but, t-thank you for the warning," I said trying to smile.
The woman smiled and went to the counter to order.
'If something were to happen to Fairy Tail, the people could care less if the pub literally goes down in flames…they may actually celebrate it,'
A small shiver went down my spine.
We quickly got out of the store.
"We need to hurry," I said.
"You don't have to tell me twice," Gajeel said.
We started to walk at a quick pace…then it turned into a jog, and finally we began to run. However, because of my short legs, dress, and wearing heels can easily and dramatically slowed me down. It caused both Natsu and Gajeel easily pass me.
I sighed; I was getting frustrated because I had a hard time keeping up with both dragon slayers.
When both men turned a corner, I was about a third behind them.
'Looks like I'll have to take short cut,' I sighed
So instead of rounding the corner like Gajeel and Natsu, I continued running.
'Let's see…there should be a small alley…somewhere,'
I slowed down a bit until I spotted the small gap between the two buildings.
"…ah, here it is!"
I squeezed my way through.
"Oh, this is a lot tighter than I remember," I whispered to myself.
When I was younger, some of the friends would play hide and seek. I was usually the last person who would be found, because this was my hiding spot. No one could touch me…However, that was years ago
Slowly, I made my way through.
Once I was out, I ran down the street in the direction of the pub. But something was off but I could not place it.
Then I saw a car driving down the street.
It seemed strange, it looked like a normal car, but my instincts were telling me to run or hide.
I found a crate that sat outside of a store and hid behind that.
I watched as the car drove down.
Then, I heard some shouting, loud laughing, and I heard someone say, "Fairies"
I felt panic and fear for a moment. I thought it through for a moment.
It could be nothing…or it could be something. I didn't know but at the same time, I couldn't risk it either.
'This can't be good…' I looked around the area frantically, trying to figure out what to do next. 'I have to go the Fairy Tail…and fast!'
Once I was sure that the car was out of site, I got up from my hiding spot. I ran as fast as I could to the pub.
I knew the way to the pub, I knew it by heart.
"This is bad, this is bad!" I said to myself
'I have to hurry!'
As I ran into, bumped into people, people curse at me, and I also scared a few people as well. I did apologize profusely for what I have done, but I could only spend a few seconds worrying about the people on the street. My main concern was Fairy Tail itself.
It was my dad's pub and I had a legacy to uphold.
When I was about a block away, I ran to the Fairy Tail pub.
I continued to run toward the building and as I got closer, I saw Natsu and Gajeel were standing in front of the building.
"What took you so long?" Gajeel asked.
"I-I'm sorry," I said trying to get the air back into my lungs.
"Are you okay?" Natsu asked.
"S-Sorry, but I'll explain when we get inside,"
Gajeel raised an eyebrow, but did not say another word.
The boys stood there as I recollected myself.
"Shall we go inside?" I asked.
Gajeel shrugged and opened the door to the pub. Both Natsu and I followed him in.
When I was fixing the mistakes, I realized that I put down bar instead of pub...Cause, in the states, we call it a bar, but in England it's a pub. Anyway, I'm glad that you guys are enjoying the story so far...There are still a few chapters I still have to fix, but I'm getting closer.
