After an eventful first two months of being back at Hogwarts, Elizabeth had gained a new group of friends. Ever since the whole Dementor debacle on the train she had been spending more time with Harry, Ron and Hermione. She really did enjoy spending time with them. Today was the first Hogsmeade trip of the year and all the third years were very excited about it. She and Harry were the only third years not going to the wizarding village. She hadn't gotten the courage over the summer to ask Lorelai, her caretaker at the orphanage, to sign the permission form. She did not know how she would have explained what Hogsmeade was.

Elizabeth was sitting in the Gryffindor common room as a lot of the students left for the first trip to Hogsmeade. She was reading, yet another book when she heard a boy shout, "Harry! Harry! Hi, Harry!"

It was Colin Creevey. Elizabeth giggled under her breath, as she knew Harry was going to be very annoyed by this second year boy. The boy was very obsessed with the Famous Harry Potter and the Slytherins thought this was the best thing to ever happen. They enjoyed mocking Colin whenever Harry was around.

"Aren't you going to Hogsmeade, Harry? Why not? Hey_"

Elizabeth put her book down and went to Harry's rescue. "Hi Harry," Elizabeth said interrupting Colin. "We have to go to the library to get some work done. Are you ready?" she asked giving Harry a pointed look. She so hoped he'd catch on and agree.

Harry understood Elizabeth and shook his head in agreement. "Er—yeah, that's right."

After that the two had no choice but to turn right around and head back out of the portrait hole.

"What was the point of waking me up?" the Fat Lady called grumpily after them as they walked away.

Harry and Elizabeth wandered dispiritedly toward the library, but halfway there Harry decided he didn't really want to go there. "Elizabeth," he said clearing his throat. "Do you really have work to do in the library?"

"No, I honestly just said that to get you away from Colin." She said sheepishly. "I had a feeling you did not want to be ogled at."

Harry scoffed as he ran his hand through his hair. Why did I just do that? He wondered to himself. "Erm, yeah thanks."

"Do you want to go to the grounds instead? The weather is nice out." Elizabeth added brightly.

Harry nodded and the two headed to the front doors. They spotted the occasional student wandering about. First and second years who didn't have the privilege of visiting Hogsmeade yet and older students who had visited Hogsmeade so much the appeal had faded.

Harry looked over at Elizabeth as they headed off toward the lake. "Elizabeth," he said, "if you're from America how come you didn't go to a Wizarding school there?" he asked. "Sorry for being forward." He added quickly after.

She laughed, "It's okay. You're not the first to ask me that question." She sighed, "Dumbledore said my name was down from when I was born. Considering my parents were both Hogwarts students it made sense for me to come here as well. I mean everyone knows who my father is…" Elizabeth looked down at her feet. Sirius Black was her father. She had never met him but everyone would give her a look these days as if she were on his side. She was shocked of all people Harry Potter was normal with her. She thought if anyone had the right to treat her differently it would be him.

Harry looked out in front of them at the lake. "Do you miss being there?"

"Sometimes. Mostly the food." She giggled. "The food here is different. 'Bangers and Mash' and other dishes like that."

Harry laughed. "Yeah, I guess that would sound unappetizing to someone who hasn't eaten it growing up."

"I lived in an orphanage so not much of it is home. "Elizabeth said sadly. "I know it's a lot better than what you have at your Aunt and Uncle's, but in a way it's better to know you have family, even if they don't care for you like they should."

Harry looked at Elizabeth who gave him a small smile; he smiled back. "I think of Hogwarts as home." He said. "We spend most of the year here anyway."

Harry and Elizabeth talked some more before coming up to the castle. It was the first time the two spent time together without Ron and Hermione. Harry actually enjoyed it. She was like Hermione in her need to study, but she was different as well. She liked jokes and didn't mind stepping out of line at times. She was like a nice combination of Hermione and Ron put together; in a weird way.

When they got up to the castle Oliver Wood ended up dragging Elizabeth off. Harry ended up having tea with Professor Lupin before returning back to the Common Room. When he returned he saw Elizabeth sitting and reading a book on the couch in front of the fire. He walked over and sat by her.

"What did Wood want?" he asked without thinking.

She answered nonchalantly without looking up from her book. "He got some new Quidditch gear he was really excited about."

The rest of the year was very eventful indeed. Sirius Black had made it into the Castle on Halloween night. The entire school had to sleep in the Great Hall that night.

Harry found out that Sirius Black was his father's best friend at school. That also revealed that Sirius Black was Harry's Godfather. This added more fire to Harry's want to be the one to kill Black himself. This, in return, led to a rift between Harry and Elizabeth. After all, Sirius Black is her father and she did not want to see him killed no matter what crime he was being accused of.

Hermione and Elizabeth continued to work on Buckbeak's case that Hagrid ended up losing. The executioner was going to come to Hogwarts to follow through with Buckbeak's sentence.
