Note from the author: I felt strongly that Anna deserved a strong story, so I started to give her one in this chapter... Maybe a little too strong.

"Liam, honey, quick! Find a phone and call 911! Omg there's so much blood... Hang in there."

[November 3rd, 1983]

A little boy ran to complete his mom's mission. He was scared but he had decided that blood and people who were hurt would be forever a part of his life if he wanted to be a doctor. His mom was his inspiration, she was a nurse at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital and was always telling him that if he studied hard and got his medical degree, he'd be the greatest doctor and that would make her so proud. So he bravely made his way to the nearest phone (and to an adult that could dial 911 and explain the emergency).

Meanwhile his mother tended to a young woman who was on the verge of unconsciousness.

"Stay with me sweetie... What's your name, huh? Talk to me. I can't move you..."

It was still early in the morning but people were starting to occupy the streets, a small group of worried faces was already gathering. The nurse was in her uniform already so people limited themselves to whisper amongst themselves, inquire on what might have happened and pray.

"I was walking with my son and saw her on the ground... I don't know what happened, I didn't hear anything strange. An ambulance is coming."

The attention was reaching the awaken part of the girl's brain and she responded modestly, trying to speak. Her mouth was so dry and everything hurt so much, only the nurse got to hear her painful moan.

"A-a-"

"Shhh, don't try too hard, girl. Help is on its way." she tried to get her to calm down.

Soon after, Liam arrived and with him came also the ambulance. The rescue team was fast and efficient. Little Liam watched as they lifted her and observed the small unevenness that formed on the spot now covered in blood. He kneeled down and proceeded to get a small gray feather from the floor, put it in his pocket and follow his mom, who was accompanying the victim. She held her hand firmly, to pass her some level of assurance that all was going to be fine.

"A-an-na."

Anna was put in the ambulance that drove her bloody body to the hospital.

She had fallen from Heaven. No one would ever be able to figure that out. No one ever hears the fall, that's why its so hard. Even if you survive the impact, courtesy of great former white wings - that will turn gray upon their sentence - even if by some chance one Angel manages to land and live, chances are that Angel will bleed to death.

The Fallen Angel is the most complex and miserable creatures out there. Their fall transforms them into humans, they loose their wings and become vulnerable. What's so bad about that? Some of them even choose to jump. They wouldn't though if they knew what happens next.

Anna woke up a couple of weeks later, still in pain. But the greater pain was inside her head. What was that noise? It wouldn't stop, it was so loud, so many people talking at once. Oh yeah, their thoughts, she could still hear them. And if as an Angel turning them off was like breathing, as a new-human turning them off was impossible.

For the next few days she tried desperately, she inflicted pain on herself trying to focus on something else and nothing. She finally had to escape the hospital and get herself far away from the humans, which was hard. She was always hungry, always thirsty and cold... She couldn't believe how much. She knew how lucky she was it was not winter yet, she'd seen humans freeze to death and she strongly believed she could be one of those.

More than once she thought of giving up, of surrendering herself to eternal peace. But what would they think of her? What would God think of her? He did give her a second chance, she had survived the fall. How many Angels could say that? She'd find a smaller town, a further home, she'd learn how to deal with it. Up until she reached the small town of Greenville, IL, she believed that God had a plan for her and that kept her going.

She decided it was safer to arrive by one of the cemeteries, less people alive and thinking all the time. It was a good plan except for the wrong day and time. There was a man. He thought of Mary and Adam and Liddy and so many others... Anna thought of comforting him but she wasn't sure she was capable of doing that without her wings.

She chose to follow the man. As he walked into the city, the noise in her head became louder and more confusing. She stopped herself from entering the bar, that was too much. She decided to wait in the alley next to the bar. Eventually he'd come out.

But her human body was so fragile and uncontrollable... and she was so tired that she fell asleep right there. Forever from the moment she woke up, Anna wished she hadn't.

Her body was being pressed to immobility and, as she could hear clearly now, lust. She tried screaming, she tried fighting, but mostly she cried. That was new. Angels don't cry, they've got nothing to cry about. But she did. While that vile thing happened, after it happened and for a while more while she found something that could end her suffering. So God didn't have a plan for the Fallen after all. No second chances. Why should she care about the Heavens now? She doubted she'd end up there. Most humans don't. She'd probably be stuck in purgatory. It couldn't be as bad as where she was right now. She hated the Heavens. The more closely she drew the broken glass to her throat, the more her hatred grew. "To Hell with them..."

An inhuman hand held her 'blade'.

"That's right, sweetheart. To Hell with them all."

She looked up scared.

"Lucifer...?"
