Chapter Nineteen

Thorin stood, not knowing what to say after hearing the news. "Lets get out of here!" said Thorin quickly as the two of them left the Treasury. They entered the King's Chambers, as Thorin turned to her. His expression filled with worry. "Jessica, this pregnancy isn't really good news to me. You know this." said Thorin gravely. "Why are you saying that?!" asked Jessica, sharply. "What happens if something happens to our children? What happens if they would bear the same curse as my grandfather and myself?" asked Thorin.

"Thorin, there is nothing for you to worry about, as long as we keep the child safe! Thorin, this is supposed to be a happy occasion! I'm happy and very excited on becoming a mother, and you should be too." said Jessica. "Jessica, you don't understand. The child will be born mixed blood, and its going to be raised not liked much by our people, and other races." said Thorin. "Bull shit! I never had problems with my life, Thorin! It doesn't necessarily mean our child is going to be growing up the same way!" Jessica argued.

Thorin slammed his fist on the table. "I'm in no mood for this! I'm just telling you the cold hard facts, and you're just brushing it off like its nothing!" shouted Thorin. "Thorin!" shouted Jessica. "Don't Thorin me, you two faced whore!" barked Thorin, as he stormed out of the chambers, slamming the door behind him. Jessica picked up a plate and thrown it at the door, and she collapsed to the floor screaming in anguish, tears falling down her face.

An hour later, Dis came running in the chambers, finding Jessica sitting on the floor, her knees drawn up, weeping softly. "Jessica, what happened? What did my brother say to you?" asked Dis, gently. "I told him the news. He didn't take it very well." said Jessica sadly, and she explained Thorin's argument about the pregnancy. "He worries to much! We shouldn't care what others say. The child may grow up as half bred, but its you and Thorin's child! My brother is making too much of a negative thing." said Dis. "Try telling him that. He just called me a two faced, W word!" said Jessica. Dis raised her eyes hearing his.

"Oh no he didn't!" fumed Dis, angrily. "He did." said Jessica sadly. "Jessica, we're going to fix this. I'm going to track down my brother and have a long chat with him!" said Dis, firmly, as she kissed Jessica on the cheek, and she leaves the chambers.

Good luck on trying to reason with him, he won't listen! Jessica thought, as she stood up and she went into the bedroom, and laid down in her bed, as she continued to allow the tears to fall, feeling hurt from Thorin's words to her. "As anyone seen Thorin? He didn't go back to the Treasury did he?" asked Dis. "No, we haven't seen him. And I don't think he's in the treasury. We saw him leave the Mountain, he seemed very angry." said Nori. "We tried stopping him, but he didn't stop. What's going on here?" asked Balin.

Dis explained the situation to the dwarves. "You can't be serious! That's how he reacted?!" snapped Dwalin angrily, standing up. "He worries to much, Dwalin. He's making this too much of negative." said Balin. "That's what I was just telling Jessica. Jessica is very upset right now, which is not good for her and the baby." said Dis. "I'll go and calm her down." said Fili. "Good luck with that laddie. No matter what you'll say or do, she will re main like this. Your Uncle said some very harsh words to her." said Balin.

"I'm going to track that fool down myself and have some words for him." said Dwalin. And Dwalin left the private living quarters of the kingdom, as he went to find Thorin. Meanwhile, Jessica felt restless, and in the need for some fresh air.

After getting dressed, she pulled on her cloak, and she leaves the Mountain, heading to the City of Dale. Some fresh air would do her some good. As Jessica made her way into the City, she could see a pub ahead of her, and she decided to enter. She felt hungry (which surprised she had a appetite after the days events), and she decided to stop to have something to eat. As she entered the pub, she took a seat at a table nearby some loud and rowdy patrons. As she waited for the barmaid to take her order, she could hear the patrons shouting and chanting.

"Kiss, Kiss, Kiss!" the crowd chanted. Then she heard a familiar voice call out. "Hold your horses! I need a drink first!" the familiar voice said. Jessica could have sworn it sounded like Thorin's voice. But it can't be Thorin! Why would he be doing down here? Jessica thought. Jessica slowly turned, to see if it was Thorin or not. Once she looked behind her, her fears came true. It indeed was Thorin, sitting at a table not too far from her, appearing in a very drunk state.

But she seen something else that angered her tremendously. A human woman, sitting straddle on Thorin's lap, as she leaned forward, and the two kissed deeply and passionately. Jessica wanted to control herself from losing her cool, and not to make a public scene, but what she had just saw caused rage and anger fuel in her.

She couldn't remain silent for much longer. Without thinking, she quickly stood up, and threw her mug at Thorin, as the mug struck Thorin in the shoulder. "YOU BASTARD!" shrieked Jessica. Thorin sat in shock as he saw this. "Who was that?!" snapped the woman. Jessica bolted out of the pub. "Miss! Your food!" called out the barmaid. But Jessica ignored the barmaid, as she continued to sprint out of the Pub, running towards the Lake.

As she reached the pier, she collapsed as she heavily sobbed. Meanwhile inside the pub, King Bard was also there, as he saw Jessica running out of the Pub, and the King of Dale approached Thorin. "What is going on here, Thorin?" demanded Bard. "Its none of your business, Bowman." growled Thorin. "Thorin, your wife is upset. What have you done to her?" demanded Bard. "Look, I told you its none of your business!" barked Thorin. "Let me handle this, King Bard." spoke up a gruff voice. Thorin and Bard turned, and they saw the Fundin Brothers standing in front of them.

Balin and Dwalin both glared at Thorin. "Laddie, its time we need to have a little talk about your behavior!" growled Balin. "Lets take this outside." said Dwalin. Thorin hesitantly followed his friends outside the Pub.

"What in the hell has gotten into you, Thorin? Do you have any what you're doing?! Why are you putting your wife through this? Why can't you be happy at the fact she is carrying YOUR son or daughter, Thorin?" snapped Dwalin. Thorin remained silent. "A king should not behave this way. Bard told me what he had saw in the pub with you and the human woman." said Balin, sternly. "Not a word of this to my sister!" hissed Thorin. "She'll find out anyway, Thorin. Why bother about it?" barked Dwalin.

"You are causing your wife hurt, and you should go find her and talk to her. The more she is in distress, the harm she'll put on the child." said Balin. "But she left the pub! I have no idea where she went off to!" said Thorin. "Get off your arse and go find her, you idiot!" shouted Dwalin, who wanted to take his hands and strangle his friend. Thorin stood realizing Balin and Dwalin are right. Here he is wasting his time lashing out anger, when he could be supporting Jessica through her pregnancy. Instead of supporting her, he is hurting her instead.

His heart ached, after hearing how terribly torn Jessica is now, and he quickly sprinted away from Balin and Dwalin as he went to find Jessica. Meanwhile, Jessica sat on a pier, as she looked out over a lake. Suddenly, she could hear several footsteps behind her.

Jessica turned around, and she could see two very drunk men approaching her. Both were grinning at her, as they drew near her. "What is a pretty little thing such as yourself doing out here this late at night? Shouldn't you be at home?" said the first man, with blonde hair and a goatee. "Sod off! I don't even know you, so go away!" snarled Jessica. "Woa, such a sharp tongue for someone so beautiful." said the second man, with short black hair and mustache, as he sat down beside Jessica.

"Look, I told you two to leave me alone! Now scram!" Jessica shouted. "Oh come on, miss. You look as if you need some cuddling! You seem to have a very bad day! I can tell by the look on your pretty face." purred the second man. "My bad day is none of your damn business!" snapped Jessica, as she stood up. But as she backed away from the second man, she bumped right into the first man. "Gotcha! You will not run from us, woman! We want our play time!" demanded the first man. "To hell you're not!" screamed Jessica, as she kicked the first man in the groin.

The first man roared in pain, as she took off. "You get back here! We're not done with you yet!" shouted the first man, as both men begin chasing after her. Jessica wasn't paying much attention where she was going, as she bumped into a familiar figure. She stopped, and she saw Thorin in front of her. "Jessica!" exclaimed Thorin.

"Out of my way, I have nothing to say to you!" hissed Jessica. "Jess, listen to me, we need to talk!" said Thorin. "Now's not the time, Thorin!" hissed Jessica. "What do you mean?" asked Thorin, sharply. "Hey! You get back here woman! We're not done with yer!" shouted the second man. Thorin scowled as he saw the men heading towards their direction. "You stay away from my wife!" Thorin barked, as the men stood in front of them. "Oh, we're sorry! We didn't know she belongs to you!" sneered the second man. Balin and Dwalin approached, as Dwalin marched angrily towards the men.

"If I find out you harm our Queen, you will pay for this! Now leave! Or I will drag the two of you to the dungeons!" barked Dwalin. And the two men ran off. "Come on, lets go home." said Thorin softly, with his arm around Jessica. Once they arrived home, Thorin and Jessica sat in the Main room of their chambers. "Jessica, I don't know what came over me, and why I reacted the way I did. I wouldn't blame you for being angry and upset at me. I should be more supportive to you, and happy of the news of the pregnancy, instead of getting angry about it." said Thorin.

"Thorin, I understand your concerns about everything, yes, but making this whole ordeal into a negative is not what I expected. I'm happy of becoming a mother Thorin." said Jessica.

"And I'm happy too, Jessica. I'm very happy. And I regret deeply for how I reacted earlier." said Thorin gently as he took Jessica's hands. Jessica could feel the warmth of Thorin's hands, and she could feel his hands trembling. "Forgive me, love." whispered Thorin as he kissed her hands, and then he placed his hand on Jessica's abdomen. "Forgive me, whoever you are. I can't wait for the day you are born!" whispered Thorin. Jessica laughed. "You have both of our forgiveness, Thorin!" said Jessica.

Thorin pulled Jessica into his arms, brushing his lips over hers, embracing her in a passionate kiss. Suddenly, the kiss abruptly broken, as Jessica pulled away. "You should have washed your lips before you kissed me Thorin!" said Jessica firmly. "Why?" asked Thorin. "Because your lips were kissing another earlier this evening." Jessica replied. Thorin flushed, feeling embarrassed when Jessica had mentioned the incident of the pub. "Jess, about that, I was very drunk, I didn't know what I was doing. I know I'm never going to hear the end of it." said Thorin. "Not just from me either. From those who know you as king, and definitely your sister." said Jessica.

All that morning, when Thorin woke up to start his day, he had been heckled a lot about his actions, especially from Dis. Even some of the elders among the council had given the dwarf king a chewing out. Jessica could not help but laugh at this. He didn't see that coming, thought Jessica. Thorin publicly apologized to everyone for his actions, and he informed everyone, he spoken with Jessica privately and apologized to her.

Later that evening, as the family sat together over dinner in the private dining room, Balin smiled at his friend. "Now all is right in the kingdom now, I hope laddie?" said Balin. "Everything is alright, I received everyone's forgiveness." said Thorin. Dwalin snorted. "What?" said Thorin. "And mine? You haven't apologized to me, when you struck me in the nose at the pub." said Dwalin. "I didn't hit you in the nose!" argued Thorin. Everyone laughed, as Balin, Dis, and Jessica shook their heads.
