Chapter 21
While Jo was in the bath, Lucy had put Robyn to bed. She couldn't believe how well Robyn had come on with her parents and uncles. Just as she was finishing up with Robyn, Virgil gets a phone call and walks up the stairs to see his mother.
"Hey Mom! Are you okay with keeping an eye here for a while? I need to head into the office to check something out. I had a phone call to let me know that the alarms have been going off. I have my phone on me, plus Lisa's number is in Jo's phone should anything happen while I am gone. I shouldn't be too long."
"That is fine, Virgil. Why are you going in at this time surely everyone has gone home?"
"I just need to go and check these out and call Dad if anything is wrong." said Virgil as he went to leave to go to the office.
"Okay, Virgil, you go ahead and I will make sure that Jo is okay. Give me a ring when you are on your way back."
"Will do, Mom. See you later." said Virgil as he left the house to head for the office.
Once Jo had had her bath, she came down stairs for a cup of tea, and saw Lucy sitting on the sofa, knitting.
"Hey! Where has Virgil got to?"
"He's just gone to the office to check out an alarm that kept going off. Jeff had put Virgil down as main contact in case anything happened. I don't think it's anything to worry about, but Virgil just wanted to check it out to be on the safe side of things."
"I don't know.. Lucy. I have this awful feeling that Virgil is walking himself into a trap here. Maybe I worry too much about these things; now that we are married, I don't want to take any chances with anything now."
"If it puts your mind at ease, do you want me to give Jeff a call to at least warn him so if anything does happen then the boys and Jeff will be ready?"
"Thanks Lucy."
"No problem Jo, anyway, have you got names sorted out for these little ones? It won't be long now till we meet them." said Lucy, who stopped what she was doing and made her way into the kitchen to make hot drinks.
"We have, but we don't really want to tell anybody till near the time, but, yes, we have names sorted." said Jo with a smile.
"Why don't you go up and check on Robyn, while I call Jeff here to let him know about these alarms going off?"
"Okay Lucy see you later." After Jo want up the stairs to check on Robyn. Lucy gives Jeff a phone call to let him know about these alarms going off.
"Hey Jeff, its Lucy here, how are things over in the island? Is everyone driving you mad yet?"
"Hey Lucy, everything is fine here, Holly and Gordon are pulling pranks like nobody's business. Anyway why the phone call?"
"Virgil was called into the office about 15 minutes ago because the alarms went off. Jo is worried that Virgil could be walking into a trap. It's 8.00 at night here, Jeff, and I am starting to wonder myself."
"I will let John know, and see if he can check into the computers to find out what is going on. It may be nothing but I will check it out. If anything is going on, John will pick it up, and I will have the boys on standby in case you need them. Aside from that, how are Jo and Robyn doing? It seems ages since we last saw them?"
"Jo is doing okay, Jeff, we are checking her blood pressure a lot, because it's going up and down at the minute. Virgil doesn't want to risk going back into hospital with her. Jo is getting a bit bored now but she hasn't got long to go."
"How far is Jo now, Lucy?"
"Nearly 7 months gone and has never been happier. Little Robyn can't wait to become a big sister, when I put her to bed they are all she talked about."
"That is wonderful to hear! Well, I better go now and warn the boys, in case anything happens. Knowing Virgil's luck something will happen. Give me an hour and I will ring you back. These alarms should never have gone off like that."
"Right, speak to you soon."
