Chapter 21

Jace's POV

Even from across the room Jace could see the blood coming out of Clary's stab wound. She was lying on the ground shaking visibly. Jace tried to pry himself away from the wall but it was no use. The force that Sebastian was using on him was too strong, he could only sit, wait and watch.

Sebastian walked over to the table with the cup on it. He picked up a bag from underneath the table and started to unpack it. He took out different kinds of knives, seraph blades, and many other angelic and demonic weapons; some of which Jace had never seen before. Sebastian picked up a small blade and walked slowly over to Jace with a smirk on his face. Sebastian's almost white hair, shinning from the small bits of light spilling into the room between the cracks of wood on the boarded up windows.

"I've been waiting a long time for this day to come." Sebastian said evilly. He ran his finger down the blade as if to test its sharpness.

"And what," Jace swallowed, "what day might that be?" He kept stealing glances over a Clary; she was curled into the fetal position with her back facing the wall. Jace couldn't see her face and it was killing him. Where is Alec? Jace thought.

"The day you have to watch Clary die right before your eyes. And then you die with her." Sebastian paused to contemplate something, "Or, I could let you live in a world without your precious Clary and then you might even just kill yourself!" He walked right up to Jace so they were almost touching. They were almost the same height with Jace only slightly taller than Sebastian. The demon boy ran the blade along Jace's cheek cutting into his clear skin. Jace kept his eyes on Clary. He would not let Sebastian see that he was in any kind of physical pain; he owed it to Clary to stay strong.

"So weak," Sebastian turned away from him in disgust, "no wonder Valentine was disappointed in you. You are too soft." He was walking towards Clary, twirling the knife in his hand. "Well at least you can remember this moment, the moment that I defeated the great Jace Wayland."

Sebastian raised the knife preparing to strike Clary once again when Isabelle came sprinting into the room. She wrapped her whip around Sebastian's arm making him drop the knife in pain. It hit the floor hilt door before lying on its side next to Clary's back. Jace breathed a sigh of relief.

Alec and Magnus were the next to come barreling through the door with Magnus's hands shooting out spurts of blue sparks and Alec with a seraph blade glowing brightly in each hand. The all circled around Sebastian who snapped his fingers and made three demons appear out of smoke around the room. The immediately advanced on them making them lose their advantage against Sebastian.

Jace continued to struggle against the force. He needed to help his friends fight those demons! He tried to help as much as he could by calling out warnings when one of the demons snuck up behind them. It was the best he could do.

Eventually the three warriors were surrounded by the demons. Isabelle was holding her arm across her stomach trying to protect the baby. Alec was helping Magnus and became distracted. It was at this moment that a demon hit Isabelle across the stomach making her fly across the room and hit the back wall. She fell to the floor and wasn't moving.

Jace heard a scream and he realized it was his own.

Sebastian was busy trying to make a portal on the far side of the room totally unaware of the fight that was going on behind him.

Jace saw Simon, Jordan and Maia creep silently into the room, Jordan and Maia already in wolf form; ran over on all fours to help Magnus and Alec with the demons. Simon on the other hand crept up behind Sebastian. Simon was about to plunge a sword through his back when Sebastian turned around sharply. But Simon using his newfound vampire skills stabbed Sebastian in the gut causing him to scream out in pain. Jace felt the force against him weaken and he finally sprinted away from the wall and out to the battle ground before him.

He helped finish off the remaining demons, which was quick when there was now two shadowhunters, two wolves, a vampire and the high warlock of Brooklyn. They all turned on Sebastian next. He raised his hands into the air snaking his head smiling, "You seriously thought you would get me that easily?" He laughed loudly, "We will see each other very soon."

A portal opened behind him. It was swirling like the whirlpool with different shades of blue. Sebastian looked at the group on last time before throwing the Morgenstern ring at Jace and then jumping into the portal. Jace caught the ring easily as the roaring of the portal stopped. Everyone was frozen. Nobody knew what to make of these new revelations. It was only when they heard a soft cough that they all awoke from their trance.

Jace sprinted over to Clary lying her on her back. The wound was still bleeding from her side. Jace took off his leather jacket and pressed it firmly to her side. Clary gasped at the pressure and opened her eyes.

"Jace?" Her voice was hoarse.

"I'm here baby, I'm right here."

Clary tried to sit up only to clench her eyes shut in pain, "It hurts Jace, the pain. It's spreading."

"Okay, okay, don't worry Clary we will get you back to the institute straight away." He grabbed onto her hand and squeezed tightly.

"No, I have- I just want to- to sleep now." Clary started to close her eyes and her breathing became fainter.

"What? No Clary! Stay awake Clary! Don't close your eyes please don't close your eyes!" Jace shook Clary gently begging for her to wake up but her eyes were closed firmly. Jace quickly tried to find her pulse and felt that it was barely there. She was hardly breathing.

"NO! Clary! Wake up!" Jace started to preform CPR screaming at her to get up. Tears were now streaming down his face and Jace thought it was ironic that the last time he cried it was over losing a friend, the bird he loved but now he was losing his one and only love.

So short sad chapter but it is a chapter, now I only got 3 each for the last two chapters and I want to thank those that did review so much but I try to update as much as I can and it takes a lot of energy to write a chapter so could you please review! Even if it just says keep updating because then at least I know people are reading and enjoying the story. How about 5 reviews at least before I post the next chapter? Okay 5 reviews! Thanks!
