"NEW ORDER"
"ORIGIN OF THE RESISTANCE"
(Witch and Wizard: Chapter 67 to During Chapter 68)
Byron
I scamper on Wisty's shoulder to see their plan of action. Wisty spins her head to me "Quit climbing on me, or I'll switch on my flames and turn you into the world's grossest shish kebab, that's all we need now, a double-crossing weasel spy, telling the New Order all our plans."
I scamper back to the floor and protest "I won't! Never! Won't happen!"
Janine seems never surprised "The weasel is a spy? It's a talking weasel?"
"Long story," Wisty says "But I don't trust this weasel as far as I can throw him, which I guess, would be about thirty feet." She looks to me "How much do you weigh now?"
"I'm not a spy!" I squeak "You think I could go back to them? Looking like this? I could have the secret of the universe, and they would still execute me half a sec."
"All the same, you go out there. Go!" she commands as she points the hallway.
I follow her insults and scuttle down the hallway. Well she is right for the fact, if I were on her place, I would really shoo the weasel spy "I was never meant to be a spy. It was a just a mere coincidence that I ended up here in this-"
Suddenly, I stop. I remember a meeting with Sasha in the Toy Section of Garfunkel's. I hurriedly scuttle to the section.
The Toy Section is of course filled with toys but nobody is around. There are toy parts scattered on the floor. The fluorescent light flickers on and off. There are toys on the other shelves that are still in good use but some are already destroyed and worn out. "Looks like I'm in for a horror movie."
"You're late." A voice calls as it makes me jump in surprise. I turn my head and see Sasha leaning on a toy shelf, playing a Rubik's cube. "I was expecting you to be earlier." He says, eyeing and toying on his cube.
I scamper near him "So what are we going to talk about? Don't tell me it's a trap, because I'm prepared to knock out you or your gang."
"Don't be insecure," Sasha says "It's just you and me. Everything's going to be alright. Just listen what I'm about to say and answer what I'm about to ask. Okay?"
"Okay."
"Good. Now tell me," Sasha stretches out front and waves it "what do you see around you?"
I look around. "I see nothing but toys-"
"Exactly," Sasha replies quickly "and do you know what do these toys represent?"
"Ummm….children I guess?" I reply.
"Not only the children but their happiness! The children's happiness" he exclaims but he soon to be silent again "Byron, what the New Order had told you about the Resistance, well, some of them aren't true."
He continues "Believe me on this. I know how the Resistance started because I was one of the founders of it and I will tell it to you its origin." He begins to tell the story…
"There was once a boy. He had a family and had a few friends. He lived in a poor state but his life is more than ordinary, for he had a dream to pursue. His dream was to make people happy, even though they are poor and the gloomy."
He continues "Then his dream shattered into pieces when he, his family and friends were arrested. On the day of the execution only he escaped. After that, he was left alone without any family member or friend left alive. All of them were vaporized by the One."
"Yes, he mourned and cried over vaporized ashes. He felt that there is no hope for him in this world but there was his dream; a dream that can never be destroyed by the N.O. He decided to make friends on his own and create a society where the lost children and orphans can be happy, sad or poor, to them find a new family, new friends and of course a new home."
That's when I realize that Sasha is the boy he was referring to. He continues "But The One was never satisfied and contented, thinking that we are some kind of organization that are against the New Order. Why you ask? Because they are children, they are the future of this world. The New Order doesn't like his government tremble because of these kids. So he searched for them, far and wide and spread rumors that are very threatening, like they have all the basic needs and weaponry? Or they had a training program?"
"Then one day, he found them. They ran for their lives but some of the children are vaporized from his craft. The founders of the society are all turned to dust except the boy who had a dream. Anger came to him, after that. Because of his anger, he created the children rebel army, the Resistance and the children, who survived, became part of it. Because of his anger, he led his soldiers bravely against the New Order. Because of his anger, he does not know if it's a time to be happy when there is a time to be and because of anger, would there still be a chance to make him pursue his dream-making people happy-when his life is miserable because of his anger?"
I look back, feeling ashamed "What have I done? I never thought that joining the New Order would just avenge my parents. The New Order also affects people's lives; especially Sasha's."
He tosses his Rubik's to me as he finishes the last turn of his cube. He had finished solving the puzzle "Think on what you are going to do next, Byron…" He leaves me again alone in the Toy Section.
"No Sasha, you're wrong." I say to myself. "You're still pursuing your dream, for every smile you make; especially to those kids."
