Okay, I know that this is an incredibly short chapter and that this chapter and the last one really weren't my best. I'll explain some stuff that may be confusing at the bottom, as some people may not understand some stuff in this chapter.
Sandy immediately straightened up at that statement.
"Who?" Jack asked.
"Mother Nature. Didn't I explain this earlier?" Faith's reply was still muffled. The kids all nodded.
"She did. When she was talking about Pitch having a daughter." Emma said. Pitch was looking extremely confused, but the knocking sounded again. Faith stood up and walked to the door. The others could hear a door open and muffled voices.
"E- mmph!" the stranger's voice was cut off abruptly.
"Don't call me that, I have guests. I'm going by my middle name. Er… Maybe you should come back later. I got off schedule." Faith replied.
"It's fine, I'll stay. You know, for the spirit of time this does happen quite often. Didn't you plan on having the Guardians and the Burgess children all watch that movie about what happened last week?" she asked.
"Yes but… Um… I kind of brought your dad. I know I know you hate it when I bring that up. You know I was never really a hundred percent sure if I was going to bring him so I sort of just said what the heck and did it. You don't have to stay, I mean-" Faith's rambling was cut off by the stranger's voice.
"It'll be fine, Faith." She assured.
"You sure, Emily?" Faith asked worriedly.
"Yeah."
"Oh, Ombric left you this. He said it was important. Apparently he went time traveling again and got it a second time. Don't even ask me how that works; I'm the Spirit of Time not an expert on paradoxes." Faith joked. The woman's voice sounded slightly choked, as though she was fighting tears.
"Thank you. Thank you very much."
"It was nothing, Emily. You're my friend." Faith replied.
A few moments later Faith re-entered the room, followed by a young woman with a long but lovely face and waves of ebony colored hair. She was wearing a green dress and Faith pulled in another comfy armchair that the woman settled into. She was holding what looked like a locket in one hand like it was a precious treasure.
"Everyone who doesn't know, this is Emily Jane, also known as Mother Nature." Faith introduced. The kids all gaped in shock while Sandy waved at her with a smile. She smiled back.
"Hello, Sanderson." She greeted, warmth entering her voice as she saw one of her oldest friends.
It's good to see you again, Emily Jane. The curly letters appeared over his head.
"It's good to see you too." She said with a smile.
"You'll recognize the scene we're at, Emily." Faith said, picking up the remote.
"Wait, I have a question… Where did the thunder come from?" Jamie asked.
"Well, I may not be able to bring myself to fight in the war the Guardians and Pitch have been fighting, but I do make it a point to watch." Emily Jane said with a soft smile. The kids all nodded in understanding as Faith grabbed the remote. She turned to see that Pitch had vanished. She knew he wouldn't have left- he wouldn't risk angering her like that. But why did he disappear from his seat if he didn't remember Emily Jane?
Pitch watched from a shadow in the corner of the room, not wishing to face the girl who seemed to stir that traitorous piece of humanity left inside him. That little piece fought to go to her but he suppressed it. He had worked too hard to lose everything to Kozmotis.
"Better luck next time." He whispered. Faith picked up the remote.
"Alright then, let's continue the movie." She said, hitting 'play'.
See, what'd I tell you? The best way for you to understand this chapter is to read The Guardians of Childhood series, specifically The Sandman and The War of Dreams. It has the real story of Pitch and his lost daughter, Emily Jane.
**SPOILERS**
In a nutshell while Kozmotis was away fighting his wife and daughter were attacked. His daughter had snuck out so survived but his wife jumped out a window to make the Nightmares think that she and Emily Jane were dead. Emily Jane grew up and learned how to control storms before being trapped in a shooting star and meeting a Star Captain, Sanderson Mansnoozie. They eventually were attacked by Pitch Black and crashed on Earth. That's the short version. She had given her father a locket before he left the last time she saw him.
