To say that dinner was tense was an understatement, it was more then uncomfortable and awkward and everybody could feel it.

Simone was sitting as far away from Fili as she could; neither of them were in the mood to talk to each other. Jessica tried to get closer to Kili but every time she took a seat next to him, he just picked up his plate and found another place to seat. Leaving her clueless.

And Febe was stuck in the middle of her friends; she didn't know what to do.

When Kili moved away from Jessica again, it became all too much.

"I've had enough of this!" She growled and pulled Kili up by his collar and grabbed Jessica by her arm before walking to the closest room and tossed them in. "Grow up and talk to each other or so help me God, I will leave you here to die." Febe slammed the door shut and locked it before walking to Fili and Simone. She grabbed both of them too and tossed them into another room. "Fix this or I will bust in your sculls!" She slammed the door shut and locked it.

"Care to tell us what's going on?" Thorin questioned.

"None of your business!" Febe growled and walked outside for some fresh air. "My friends are idiots, that's what's wrong!" She called over her shoulder and slammed the door to outside shut. With a huff Febe dropped herself on the front porch and immediately regretted that she didn't bring a cloak or jacket with her. It was damn cold outside!

"Not a damn word, Fili!" Simone snapped when Fili was about to say something. She was not going to let him apologize! She wasn't! No, not even when he was looking at her like a kicked puppy dog, all pouting and big blue eyes. She was not going to give in!

No!

Not in a million years!

Absolutely not!

Nope-

"Screw this!" She growled and buried her face in her hands. This was not going well. "I'm going to stab that bitch."

XxX

"Febe, you fucking bitch!" Jessica shouted as she pounded her fists on the large wooden door. "What the fuck is going on?! What the fuck are you doing?! Let us out, you poor excuse for a bitch! I haven't even finished my diner! Open this fucking damn door and face me like the bitch you are! If Dwalin eats all the cookies you answer to me! Febe?! FEBE?! Kut kind dat je bent! FEBE! Bjorn was going to teach me how to transform into a bear-"

"Bring up the damn bear again and I'll throw you out the window!" Kili snapped. "Now shut up! She won't open that door even if you gave her the Arkenstone! Now be quiet so I can sleep…"

"What do you have against Bjorn?!" She questioned. "You've been Mr. Moody ever since this morning?! What the hell is wrong with you?!

"Me?!" He asked as he shot up from his sleeping position on the floor. "You're the one who had been drooling all over that guy! You don't even spend time with us anymore!"

"Boohoo!" Jessica whined. "It's not my fault that I like spending time with somebody else for a couple of days!"

"It seems like you've been doing more then just 'spending time' with him!" Kili spat. "You've been all over him since you met him!"

The dwarves, hobbit and wizard, that were still sitting around the dining table, gave the three doors questioned looks. Just because the doors were large and tall didn't mean that they were soundproof, though the only yelling they heard were Kili and Jessica's.

"What was that all about?" Bilbo questioned. He wasn't used to all the yelling and cursing. The Shire had always been a quiet and peaceful place. "Is there something we're missing?"

"Probably." Bofur said with a mouthful of bread. "Maybe everything that happened finally hit them in the heads? What do you think, thief?"

"Don't know." Nori shrugged and rubbed the spot where Bofur had elbowed him. "They all seemed pretty normal this morning."

"Aye, though Kili seemed to be a bit off." Dwalin said from across the hatted dwarf. "I've never seen the lad train so badly. He was even worse then the first time he held a sword, his aim was off too."

"I did hear Fili and Simone yelling when one of Beorn's cats showed me how to make those honey rolls." Bombur said eating a piece of chicken. "They were going on about braids and about the girls hurting Kili."

"If the lad is hurt then I would need to check on him." Oin said. "Why hadn't he said a thing?!"

"Because he's from the line of Durin." Balin answered. "They are all hard headed."

"No, we're not!" Thorin protested. "Though I did find Febe alone trying to pick an apple this morning… She's never alone, the girls are always next to each other or at least in a certain range of each other."

"I did see Kili and Jessica arguing right before training while I was making tea." Dori said. "I've never seen the lad so angry before."

"But if those two are on the brink of killing each other why did Febe toss them in the same room?" Ori asked, his soft voice just reaching over the yelling of the said two. "As goes for Simone and Fili. I thought they were happy together."

"You're absolutely right, Bifor!" Bofur beamed as his cousin was signing with his hand. "The girls probably don't even know what braids are. Gandalf, where are these girls even from? They don't seem to know a damn thing about dwarves or orcs or even Middle Earth. They don't know Khuzdul and they talk about these charge things like amusement parks and TV…"

All eyes went to the wizard who had been smoking quietly and watching the scenes around him.

"Yes, well…" Gandalf cleared his throat. "They are not from here, you are right about that."

"Then where are they from?" Thorin questioned, as he got more and more suspicious by the word. He wasn't liking this for a second "You are telling us that they aren't from here?!"

"No, they are not." Gandalf repeated. "They are from a small country called Holland, rather the Netherlands, those two get mixed up easily-"

"Don't talk around this, wizard." The dwarven king growled warningly.

"Very well, they are from the Netherlands and are here for a specific reason that only time will show them-"

"What reason, Gandalf?!" Thorin had had enough of this. "If you tell me that you invited witches into my company-"

"You truly believe that they are witches, Thorin Oakenshield?" Gandalf huffed. "Is that truly what you think of your companions?" He turned to the others. "They are no such things, I can assure you that! You have all been traveling with these girls for long enough to know that that isn't true! Everything they do is for another… though it doesn't always follow as planned."

Fili and Simone were both sitting on an opposite side of the room, wrapped in a thick blanket of awkwardness. The silence was killing them both but neither wanted to speak first.

Until Fili finally gave up.

"You're still wearing your braids." He said, his voice cutting through the silence like a knife. "I though you would've taken them out after this morning."

"Why would I do that?" Simone asked, maybe even a bit insulted. "I like my braids."

"Even if you know what they mean?" Fili questioned carefully. "I mean, you don't mind 'belonging' to me? It's not like belong belong to me. It's just… It shows other dwarves that you belong with me, it shows them that they can't touch you and if they do then I will kill them. I don't want anyone stealing you away from me because…" he flexed his fingers and took a deep breath. He had never been so nervous in all of his life like this, they were just three words for Mahal's sake! "Because I love you a-a-and I want you to be with me and only me. I-I-I wouldn't know what to do if you would choose another dwarf. T-That's why I gave you the bra-"

He was cut off when Simone crashed into his chest and gave him a kiss. "Why would I want to choose someone else when I can choose my own blond prince?" She asked as she got comfortable in his lap and swung her around his neck. "I'm sorry I freaked out this morning." She said as she combed her fingers through his hair. "Just with Jessica being so utterly stupid and blinder then a blind man! She can just really be… so… so… Argh! You know what I mean?"

"… No… Not really…"

"It's a girl thing." She sighed and rubbed her eyes. "How do I explain this? Jess is being so much herself that she doesn't always see what's in front of her and we felt so sorry for Kili that we wanted to help him, but… It didn't go as planned." She added in a mumble. "I really want to break her nose sometimes."

"I have a feeling Febe did that already."

"…I don't even understand why you hate the guy so much!" Jessica shouted. She had been yelling at Kili for more then an hour and you started to hear it in her voice. "You don't even know him!"

"I don't want to know him!" Kili yelled back. His voice was already hoarse; he would ask Oin for a poison once he was out of this miserable room! "I want to stay away from the guy as far away as possible! I DON'T LIKE HIM!"

"You don't like anyone besides your brother-!"

"You don't know that!" He snapped. "You don't know me! You don't know what my family's been through! Why do you think we're on this suicidal quest?! No wait, you're not part of the company because you never signed anything! You don't even get a golden coin!"

"I don't need a stupid golden coin!" Jessica shouted as she threw her arms around in anger. "The only reason why I came with is because I have nowhere else to go! I don't know if you've noticed but I'M NOT FROM AROUND! I only came with because I want to get home as soon as possible and away from you! I hate this stupid quest! I hate it that I can't get home! I hate being locked up in here and I hate you! You are nothing but a prick and an arrogant asshole who thinks it's fun to yell at people for no reason!"

"I have my reasons!"

"Do you now?!" She questioned. "Let's hear them! No, wait! They're probably as terrible as your ego!"

"My ego is still not as big as your head!"

"You've got a bigger head then mine!"

"No, I don't!"

"Do too!"

"NO, I DON'T!"

A bang on the door made them stop for a second. "Will you two shut up?!" Thorin's voice came the other side of the door. "Most of us are resting for the night and I've had it with your fighting! Now, be quiet!"

"This is all your fault!" Jessica hissed. "If you hadn't made such a big deal out of it!"

"I'm not the one who keeps arguing!" Kili whispered. "You're the one who won't shut up!"

Thorin sighed and rubbed his tired eyes as the shouting turned to whispered shouts, but still hearable. At least it was less noisy, which was good enough for now. He went to check on the room where his heir and Simone had been tossed in.

Febe had been smart enough to leave the key in the lock. He turned the key and opened the door just a little as a smile spread on his face. Soft snores were heard and when the light from the hallway entered the room he could see Fili and Simone all tangled up in each other and sleeping.

At least they had made up.

Thorin carefully closed the door again but didn't lock it again; they weren't fighting so it was safe to keep it unlocked. Now he only had to find out where Febe had disappeared to and walked outside.

The shorthaired girl was curled up in a ball like a cat on the edge of the wooden front porch. She was shaking, thanks to the cold breeze outside, her nose was all red and she looked extremely uncomfortable

Whispering a short prayer to Mahal that she wouldn't wake up, Thorin walked up to Febe and carefully placed her arms around his neck before picking her up. Febe's arms tightened around his neck when he adjusted the position he was holding her in.

"Thorin?" She whispered sleepy, clearly still half asleep.

"Shhh… Just sleep." He whispered as he entered back into the house. "Not a word about this…"

"Hmmm." Febe hummed before snuggling into his chest and fell asleep again.

"You are such an ass!"

"You are such an elf!"

"No, I'm not!"

"Yes, you are!"

"Then you're an orc!"

"And you a shape shifter lover!"

"I don't love shape shifters!" Jessica hissed again. Their round of name-calling had gone too long. "I'm just friends with Bjorn! What the hell is your problem with that?! Don't you dare say 'I have reasons' because I want to hear an actual reason! What's your problem?!"

"Oh, so now Miss I-Actually-Care-For-Once wants to hear my reason?!" Kili hissed back. "You really are blind aren't you?!"

"Will everybody just stop saying that?!"

"No!" He snapped in a whisper. "Why should I stop saying it if it's the truth?! Do you know how frustrating that is for someone?! It's killing me because I can't do a damn thing about it!"

"A damn thing about what?!"

"About showing you how much I care for you!" Kili shouted. He had had enough of all the whispering! He didn't care if he would wake the others. "You know what forget it! Run off with Bjorn and see if I care."

"What the hell is wrong with you?!" If Kili was going to raise his voice so would Jessica. "I'm just friends with Bjorn-"

"Did you even hear what I just said?!"

"SAID WHAT?!"

"Mahal save me." Kili mumbled and rubbed a hand over his face. "I'm going to get killed for this."

"KILLED FOR WHA-" Jessica was shut up when Kili cupped her face and pulled her in for a kiss. It took a second for her to progress what was going on. Kili pulled back and looked at her as he let go of her face.

"Happy now?" Kili asked. "You broke me. Do me a favor and run off with that furball-"

Jessica grabbed his blue tunic and pulled him back into the kiss when he started rambling on again. Kili let out a sound of surprise but cupped her face again and pushed her back against the door with a loud thump before deepening the kiss.

"Guys, I swear to God that if you two don't quiet down then I'm going to punch you! It's fucking over midnight!" Febe's sleepy yet angry and grumpy voice came from the other side of the door. "Some of us are deadly tired and I think I'm getting a cold! Fight it out in the morning!"

"Okay!" The two giggled before Kili trapped Jessica between his arms and kissed her again.

"Oh my God." Febe gasped in disbelieve. "Are you two… Oh my God! Simone! Wake up! Kili and Jess have a thing…!"

"Here we go..." Jessica mumbled and rolled her eyes before she placed her head against Kili's as Febe's voice started to disappear in the distance. "This is going to be a lot of fun in the morning. I think she just woke up the whole company…"

"Or we could be lucky and they just ignore her." He smiled and kissed her nose. "Sorry for shouting."

"I'm sorry too."

"Jess?" Kili asked carefully. "Tell me honestly, do you like that bear- man- shape shifter-furball?"

"What?!" Jessica frowned. "Course not!"

"Then can I braid your hair?"

"Sym! He's going to braid her hair!"

"I said that a little to loud didn't I?"

"Yes, you did."
