Chapter 21: Mission Accomplished
Cassidy's POV:
I woke up the next Saturday and felt like it was going to be a day of accomplishments. I jumped out of bed and quickly showered. Once I was dried off I curled my hair and applied mascara and eyeliner. I wrapped my robe around my body and made my way into the dorm. I opened my wardrobe and pulled out jeans, a white tank top, black combat boots, and a red leather jacket. I pulled on the clothes and headed downstairs and began to eat breakfast and wait for James to come down so I could start my plan. He came down around 11 o'clock.
"James," I exclaimed as he sat down. "How are you on this fine October morning?" He looked at me confused.
"I'm fine," he said cautiously. "How are you?"
"Just dandy," I chirped. "Now hurry up and eat. We have a date today."
"Since when?" he asked.
"Since 5 minutes ago," I said. "Now eat!"
We left the castle around 11:30am to make our way down to Hogsmeade. My arm was through his and we were strolling down the lane towards Hogsmeade.
"Not that I mind," he said breaking the silence. "But why are you hanging out with me today? Why not Marlene or Ellie or someone." Taking note that he didn't say Lily and Sirius' name I tried to come up with a reason.
"Do I need an excuse to hang out with my awesome best friend," I said with a dazzling smile. He raised an eyebrow at me.
"What do you want?" he asked. I frowned and look straight ahead.
"What makes you think I want something?" I responded.
"Cassidy," he said looking at me. "I know you. And you want something from me."
I huffed. "Fine I'll tell you." I said. "What's up with you and Lily?"
He stiffened.
"James please just talk to me," I pleaded. I gripped his arm tighter so he wouldn't run away. He groaned.
"Fine," he said. "But not until we go to the Three Broomsticks."
"Fine by me," I said.
Sirius' POV:
"Lily my love!" I exclaimed as I saw the red-head in question exiting the castle to head to Hogsmeade.
"Sirius my idiot," she replied back trying to get away from me. But I was quicker. I slung an arm around her shoulders and began walking with her.
"Take a walk with me my dear Lily," I said. "We have things to discuss."
"What things?" she asked raising an eyebrow.
"Fun things," I said with a wink.
"Are you hitting on me?" she asked out of the blue. I rolled my eyes and shook my head.
"You're kidding right?" I said taking my arm off of her shoulder. "You do know James has been in love with you since like 3rd year right?"
"James?" she said looking forward. "Who's James?"
"Come on Evans," I said grabbing her wrist, "Give it a break. We all know that James loves you and you love him too."
"Ok love is a really big word," she said her emerald eyes growing wide.
"It's four letters," I said confused.
"You know what I mean Black," she said pulling away from my grasp.
"Actually I don't," I said walking behind her. "Care to explain?"
"I'm not even 18 yet Sirius," she exclaimed. "How in the bloody hell am I supposed to know what love is? My parents didn't tell each other they loved each other until they were nearly engaged, I don't understand how James figured it out at 13 years old!"
"He knows what he wants," I said with a shoulder shrug. "And what he wants is you."
"Does he really want me?" she whispered. "Or does he want the idea of me?"
"What are you saying?" I asked confused.
"I'm saying does he only want me because he can't have me?" she asked. "He's been chasing me since the second he met me. Are you sure he wants the real me?"
"Of course he wants the real you Lily," I said getting frustrated. "He thinks that you're the bloody sun. Everything in his life revolves around you! He knows every bloody thing about you. I actually am starting to see why you always say no to him because it's bloody creepy the way he obsesses over you."
"He does?" she asked in a whisper.
"Of course he does Lily," I said softer this time. We were both quiet for a moment before she groaned and spoke up again.
"I've been such a bitch to him," she admitted. "How could he possible still have any interest after all the things I've done and said?"
"Because when you truly love someone you are able to look past small things like that," I told not even thinking about.
"Like with you and Cassidy," she says. I roll my eyes.
"Ok we're here to talk about your love life not mine," I said. "Now go find James, snog, and make-up because I'm bloody tired of having to listen to him whine especially when he's doing it 'silently'."
She smiled and hugged me. "Thanks Sirius," she said into my shoulder. "And be sure to thank Cassidy for me too." I smiled and gave her a small squeeze.
"No problem red," I said letting her go. "Now, go get your guy." She nodded and smiled before bolting down the path to Hogsmeade.
Cassidy's POV:
James drew out the afternoon making me go to basically every store in the town of Hogsmeade. By the time it was 4 o'clock we finally made our way into the Three Broomsticks Pub. We got a seat and before I could begin talking James went to get drinks.
"Bloody stubborn boy," I muttered to myself.
"Ok," he said sitting down. "Two icy butterbeers. One for the lovely lady and the other for myself." I thanked him for the drink and then folded my hands in a business matter.
"Ok spill," I said. "You've spent the whole damn day avoiding this subject but now it's time to talk."
"Do I have to," he groaned.
"James you promised," I said looking at him with hurt eyes. He groaned again but I held my ground. I intended to figure out what was up with him and Lily.
"Fine," he finally said. "I'm done trying to get her to like me. I've been trying since the moment I've met her and nothing has changed. She hates my bloody guts." I give him a sympathetic look.
"No she doesn't James," I told him. "How could anyone hate your guts? You're nice and sweet. You take the time to make sure everyone is ok, you're bloody hilarious, and you aren't that terrible to look at either."
"Gee thanks," he mumbled taking a gulp of his drink.
"You know what I mean," I said with a slight eye roll. "Lily would be crazy not to like you."
"Well then she must be a raving lunatic because she hates every fiber of my being," he grumbled.
"No I don't"
We both turned around and saw the fiery red head in question standing there breathless. Her cheeks were red and she was panting like she had just run a marathon. I smiled and finished the rest of my drink and stood up.
"I'll just leave you two alone," I said. I grabbed my bags and made my way out of the small pub. I smiled and did a small happy dance before heading back up to the castle.
"Hey Cassidy," a voice called in the distance. "Wait up!" I turned around and smiled. Sirius was running up the path to meet with me. When he got to me he swooped me up in his arms and twirled me around.
"What the hell," I squeal waiting for him to put me down. Once he set me down I readjusted myself before beginning to walk with him again.
"Want to tell me what's got you all excited," I asked him. He smiled and let out his infamous bark like laugh.
"What's got me all excited you ask," he teases. "Well my dear our plan worked! Mission accomplished!" I stared at him confused and he rolled his eyes and smacked my shoulder.
"Bloody hell Sirius," I snapped. "No need to get violent. What do you mean it worked?"
"Well my dear Cassidy," he began. "As I was walking past the Three Broomsticks I happened to see a certain red head and quidditch captain snogging the living daylights out of each other!"
"Are you for real," I exclaimed jumping up and down.
"Of course I am," he exclaimed back. I squealed and launched myself into his arms. He twirled me around again and then we continued to walk back to the castle.
"So about the Halloween dance," he said breaking the comfortable silence between us.
"Sirius I already told you," I said shaking my head. "It's not a good idea for us to go together."
"Why not Cassidy," he whined. "Give a good reason and I'll leave it alone." I sighed and place my hand on his cheek.
"It's just easier this way," I said with a sad smile.
"Well then I guess I won't be going considering I don't have a date," he grumbled. I scoffed.
"Just because you don't have a date doesn't mean you can't go," I said. "But if you really need a date I'll help you find one."
"Really," he questioned. "You'd do that."
"Anything for a friend," I said with a smile. As we were walking I was going through a list of people who might consider going with him. The list was limited because I had to eliminate people he has already dated and would potentially hex/curse him.
"Cassidy say hello," Sirius said poking my side.
"To who," I asked breaking out of my trance.
"To me," a small voice said form the other side of Sirius. I looked over and saw Ellie standing there her cheeks rosy red from being out in the cold.
"Oh," I gasped. "Sorry Ellie. I was off in another world. How was your first trip to Hogsmeade?"
"It was great actually," she said smiling. "Marlene showed me all the great stores and we got costumes for the Halloween dance."
"That's lovely," I said. "Are you going with someone?"
She shook her head and smiled timidly. "No guy would want to go with me. I'm very shy and don't really talk to guys."
"Don't be dense Ellie," Sirius said wrapping an arm around her shoulder. "Any guys would be lucky to go to the dance with you."
And that's when it hit me.
"Yea," I said with a broad smile. "I'm sure Sirius would love to go with you. Wouldn't you Sirius." He looked at me confused and then he smiled and winked.
"I'd love to go with you Ellie," he said. "That is if you wouldn't mind spending the entire night with me."
"That'd be great," she said in excitement.
"Great," I said. "Then it's settled. You two can go work out the details. I'll see you later." I then scurried into the portrait hole and up to the dormitories. I put away all my things away and began to get ready for dinner.
Sirius and Ellie...? Yay or Nay? Leave me a review on what you think! Next chapter should be up sometime Saturday afternoon. See you all then! Make sure to review! :)
