After this chapter I am going to end the first part of the story and start a second part right from where I left off. It will be called What Kyle and Jessi remember part 2. I am planning to include more fighting against Latnok. Kyle and Jessi will start to use their intellectual gifts to benefit humanity. It will take us all the way to the end of season 3. The 3rd part will be my alternative version of a season 4.

Chapter 21

Prom

It was Friday; the students were going home at Beachwood High. Kyle and Jessi had big plans for the weekend. They drove their car back home and picked up the new suitcases that Adam and Shuang had given them. In no time the limousine was there to pick them up and they headed to the airport.

Jessi was very excited, it would be her first time shopping with Shuang and her second time shopping for clothes. Kyle and Adam were looking out the airplane windows and talking. Shuang and Jessi were sitting at a table eating a snack.

Jessi asked, so why is it that we are going to New York shopping instead of going to a mall in Seattle?

Shuang smiled at Jessi and said, that is because they have a better store selection, and you will have more choices when you pick your dress out. They also have some of the most exclusive boutiques in the world. I want you to have a perfect dress for prom.

Jessi seemed happy with the answer, and then asked, are we doing anything else besides shopping?

Shuang said, for sure we will go and watch a Broadway musical, I am not sure if we will be able to do anything else, we don't have that much time.

Jessi said, too bad, I was hoping we could make it to the statue of liberty.

Shuang hugged her and said, don't worry Jessi we will come back soon, maybe even this summer.

In the meantime Kyle was asking Adam, Adam, besides me and Jessi, do you know of any other children that were experimented on to increase intelligence?

Adam said, no, a while ago there was some talk of a Latnok member conducting secret experiments in a facility in El Congo, but no one really looked in to it, and to my knowledge they were just unfounded rumors. Why do you ask?

I was just wondering, that is all. Kyle thought to himself they were not unfounded rumors, that is where Nate came from. I wonder why no one looked in to it. As far as anyone knows they might still be conducting unapproved and unethical experiments in El Congo or somewhere else. I wish there was a way to check on that. But I cannot even discuss it with Adam, without exposing Nate. There is no way to tell how Nate would react if he knew Adam and Sarah are still alive we will have to tell him someday, but he is not ready yet. I am not sure how Shuang and Adam will take it either. I am concerned they would try to approach him to soon, they could also doubt that he is their son and believe he is being used to manipulate us, unless we show them the files that Nate has and the genetic testing. Plus Nate deserves for us to tell him first and then decide on his own if he wants to meet Shuang and Adam or not.

They got to NYC late that night. Kyle and Jessi enjoyed the drive to the Trump Tower, where Shuang had her penthouse.

The next morning all they had to do is take the elevator to start shopping at The Trump tower mall. Shuang and Jessi stayed together, and Adam and Kyle shopped for Kyle's tuxedo.

Shuang told Jessi, we are here to get your prom dress, but that is not all, I would like to get you some clothes for the summer, so if you like something I'll get it for you, get as much as you want.

Jessi said Really! I know exactly what I need for the summer, I was writing out a list and thought maybe I would go to the mall with Lori and my friends, when school finishes. But this sounds better since I have never been shopping with you, and there are some many stores here! It should be fun. Jessi had a grin on her face. Shuang said, it sure will be fun Jessi, now let's get started.

Before long Jessi was literally dragging Shuang from store to store. They met with Kyle and Adam at the penthouse after dropping the bags off they went for lunch. Kyle asked how did the shopping go Jessi? It went well Kyle, Shuang and I are going to go back and look at my 2 favorite dresses for prom, and then I will make a decision. How did it go for you Kyle? Jessi said. Kyle said, it went well, they will have my tuxedo ready by tomorrow morning, they have to make some adjustments. Adam and I also went shopping for summer clothes, and we are pretty much done.

Adam and Shuang were holding hands, as they looked at their children, it had been so easy to make them happy.

After lunch they all took a walk on Central park. Adam was walking well now and only needed a cane. Then Shuang and Jessi went to finish their shopping. Jessi told Shuang, I don't know which dress to pick, I like that blue one, but Kyle likes how I look in red. Shuang said, sweetie you look beautiful in both. I am sure Kyle will like you in either dress. Jessi thought to herself, or no dress at all for that matter. Jessi ended up picking the red dress, and then they got all the accessories that she would need. They also bought an after prom dress. Before they entered penthouse, Jessi hugged Shuang and said, Thanks, I had a lot of fun with you. Me too Jessi, we will have to do this more often. Shuang said after kissing Jessi's head.

They all went out for dinner. Kyle and Jessi were wearing some of their new clothes. Shuang thought to herself, the kids look great in the new clothes, we need to take them shopping more often. I don't like seeing Jessi dressed in none-designers clothes.

After dinner they headed out to the theater to watch Little Orphan Annie. No one expected to have Jessi crying through most of the play. At the intermission Kyle offered to go back with Jessi to the penthouse, but Jessi said she liked the play it just reminded her about herself. After hearing this Shuang made sure to tell Jessi how much she loved her and how lucky she was to have her in her life. Jessi hugged her, buried her face in her shoulder and without even noticing she said, mom, I am glad you love me and want me. For most of my life no one other than Kyle cared about me. Shuang was beyond happy to hear Jessi call her mom, on the other hand she felt profound sadness at the way Jessi had grown up. They both cried while they embraced each other. Then they heard the calling for the second act. When they went back in the theater, Shuang sat with an arm around Jessi. Jessi did not cry as much.

The next morning Kyle and Jessi were up before Shuang and Adam. They had slept together in a tub, as Kyle was concerned about her sleeping alone after seeing the effect the play had on her. They were glad they were not caught. Jessi headed to the piano and started playing and singing Tomorrow, Kyle sang along with her. That woke up Shuang and Adam and they headed to the living room that had a beautiful view of New York and Central Park. When Kyle and Jessi noticed they were there they started playing She could be you. Shuang and Adam froze for a moment, and then decided to slow dance to the song. It brought back so many memories. When Kyle and Jessi were finished, Adam asked, how do you know about that song?

Kyle answered, we found a box at Zzyzx, that had a record with the song. When we go back we can give it to you if you want.

The Shuang said, I did not know you could play the piano and sing. Jessi said, we learned to play and sing from Mrs. Williams in California. Our neighbor Amanda, has been giving us some lessons, and in exchange we let her play the piano that Kyle and I repaired. She used to have a piano, but her mom had to sell it after her dad died. She is very talented, and will be attending a conservatory for part of next year.

Kyle added, it was easy to learn to sing and play because we have perfect pitch and it is really not that different from math, that helped a lot.

Adam thought that he really should send a donation to pastor Williams's school. He was thankful that the children had that safe heaven when they were away, and alone.

Kyle and Jessi went back home on Sunday night. Nicole and Lori were helping Jessi to put away her new clothes. Lori said, I love your prom dress, you are going to look great in it's so classy. Jessi said, I just hope that Kyle likes it. Nicole said, of course he will honey. Lori added He would be an idiot if he didn't. Jessi gave her a wide smile. Nicole left to get ready for bed.

Lori said, Jessi all this clothes are sooo cool, Shuang must have spent a fortune on them. Jessi looked at Lori confused and said, really?, I don't know, Shuang just told me to get whatever I liked, and not to worry about anything else, I did not even looked at the price tags. Was I supposed to? Lori said, you did the right thing Jessi just listen to your mom. Jessi then said, oh! good, by the way Lori if you want to borrow any of my clothes feel free to, that's why we are sisters right? Lori hugged Jessi and said, I will take you up on that one.

Nate, Kyle and Jessi were in Kyle's room. Nate had taken to visit on Saturday evenings and generally stayed until Sunday after dinner.

Nate said, I have some important information for you. He was speaking so low that only Kyle and Jessi could hear him. Foss was getting frustrated as he knew they were having a conversation, and he could not pick up a thing from his microphones. He also wanted to understand why Kyle and Jessi were suddenly so fond of Nate. He was investigating the situation, and had Declan working on it too.

Nate continued, you know I am taking Amanda to prom. That is part of a scheme from Latnok they want to kidnap you sister and your brother from Prom to get you to show your abilities for them. They also have someone else helping them but I am not sure who. This is what you need to do, don't take your Latnok rings with you as they have design some special Taser to knock you out and for that they need the rings. The Tasers are still very powerful even without the rings, but I have seen you handle electricity and heard your stories, I don't think they will be a problem for you. I would also suggest that you leave a half hour early through the back door; they are going to be focusing on the front door. Have this, is a map of the 2 facilities they are planning to use. I am hoping you will avoid going to the first one, but if you don't, all they are doing is for show, they have not intentions to hurt you. The second is where they plan to hold the kidnap victims. They want me to implant a device in their brains to give them amnesia; I have no plans to do that. Please tell Lori and Josh to just act as if they are out of it, if worse comes to worse. The other very important thing is do not show them all your abilities; use the minimum necessary if you end up in a rescue mission. The more you show them the more they will want you.

Kyle and Jessi had a serious face, and said, thanks Nate, but won't this get you in trouble?

Nate said, I hope not, but if it does, I really don't care, it will give me a good excuse to run away. I really cannot run away unless I am sure it is the only option.

After the talk, Kyle, Jessi and Nate went to get a snack and joined the rest of the troop to watch a movie.

The next morning Kyle and Jessi had a talk with Foss, they did not tell him everything, just asked him to be on High alert for prom night, and to make sure to escort Lori and Josh after the prom. As much as Foss tried he could not get anything else out of them.

They also warned Declan to be extra careful with Lori that night. Declan was able to get a few more details out of them, that he shared with Foss.

It was finally Prom night. The boys were waiting for the ladies to be ready. First came down Andy, Josh told her you look beautiful. Thanks Josh, Andy responded. She was wearing a multicolor dress.

Next came Hillary dressed in a dark purple dress, Jeremiah said, you look gorgeous. Thank you handsome.

Amanda was wearing a beautiful gray dress, Nate said, absolutely beautiful my lady. Amanda kissed him on the cheek.

Then came Lori in a very pretty dress, Declan said, you look great Trager. Well Thank you Declan.

Last came Jessi, she looked gorgeous in her red dress, her hair was arranged in loose curls that went down to her back, her beautiful leg showing when she walked down the steps. Kyle only had eyes for her, he walked to her and whispered in the ear, you look amazing I love you so much. Jessi told him, I love you more, and then taking a step back she looked at Kyle and said, you don't look bad yourself. Kyle was wearing an Armani Tuxedo with a red tie to match Jessi's dress.

Shuang and Adam were there, they waited until Nicole finished taking pictures and when only Kyle and Jessi were left they approached them and took pictures, and wished them a great prom night.

Tom had not told Adam and Shuang about the possible danger; however he insisted in getting the Limousines himself, he had 2 fully trained bodyguards in each one, and the limousines were bullet proof. There was one for Jessi and Kyle, one for Lori and Declan and one for Josh and Andy. On top of that Foss had assembled a team of 5 "retired" special force friends of him to help him protect the group. Since the situation in California, it had been decided not to involve Shuang's security team until the investigation was completed. Foss started using more of the budgeted that Adam had for him. Adam also insisted on increasing the budget and asked Shuang to let him take care of the kids' security, since she was already taking care of so much. Besides Foss, now Kyle and Jessi had a body guard each as well as a spy to follow their every move. Fortunately they had not noticed or they would have objected.

Kyle and Jessi were having a great time at Prom; they spend most of their time dancing. They were definitely the best looking couple. The DJ had been secured by Lori and was a UW student named Mark.

During one of their breaks, Jessi said, let's go and get some punch. I am having a lot of fun. It would be even better if we did not have a black cloud hanging over us. Kyle gave her a confused look and said, that is one of those figures of speech that you look up on the internet right? Jessi smiled at him and said, yes Kyle and you should really get on the internet and learn all the expressions and figures of speech. It means that something bad might happen. Kyle said, I know Jessi. I am particularly worried about Nate, we cannot let Latnok know he is helping us. Jessi said, we will come up with something Kyle, don't worry.

After they finished their punch Kyle took Jessi to a more private spot and started kissing her and running his hands down her arms and back. Jessi responded enthusiastically but then told Kyle, not fair, you have too much clothes on. Kyle whispered in her ear, no problem, we can take care of that at the after prom party. After that they went back dancing but not before one of their classmates approached them and told them sarcastically looking at their clothes, made the lottery or what? Kyle smiled back and kept walking, and then he told Jessi that was a very weird comment. I agree Kyle, I don't know where that came from. Jessi said with a frown.

Declan was part of the security team, and got Lori, Josh and Andy out of prom a half hour early and into the limousines with the excuse that they should check in early and be ready for the after prom party. He did not think that it was necessary to tell Kyle and Jessi to leave, as they were fully aware of the plan. Kyle and Jessi did not want for Nate to be exposed, so they hid for a half hour until they were sure Nate was gone. Then they went back to the dance floor and exited through the front door after Hillary and Jeremiah.

The Latnok team realized that they had lost their opportunity to kidnap Lori and Josh. They decided to go for Hillary as they knew she was a good friend of the family, and they had no other choice but to try to kidnap Jeremiah as well, to prevent him from calling the cops.

A couple of men pulled out 2 tranquilizer guns and aimed them at Hillary and Jeremiah, before they had a chance to do a thing, they were shot dead by one of Tom's snipers. Kyle and Jessi were too close for them to take any chances. Then out of nowhere 2 beams of electricity hit Kyle and Jessi, they were ready, and after absorbing the electricity they aimed a smaller amount towards their attackers, just enough to knocked them out and produce a seizure, so they would have no memory of the night.

On the sides of the school the van driver was trying to escape, he was knocked out and secured by Tom's team. Tom and 3 other men were around Jessi and Kyle protecting them. The sniper was also on the roof providing over watch.

Kyle said, Tom we need to talk. Tom said, I am listening. Kyle continued look Tom we need to make it to the Latnok offices, it is time for us to talk to Latnok and ask them to stop messing with us. They have to understand that we have no intentions of being their property or working for them.

Tom said, that is too dangerous, I cannot let you do that.

Before Tom and his team had a chance to react, Kyle and Jessi were inside the Latnok van and the knocked out driver was inside.

Tom was so angry, his face was red, after cursing his luck, he said, the plan has changed we are following the kids, and letting them act, but at the first sign of danger we will take matters into our hands.

In no time the team was in its vehicles and following Kyle and Jessi, however with his fast reflexes, Kyle was able to gain an advantage of a few minutes.

Kyle and Jessi got out of the Van and tied the driver to the steering wheel. Then Jessi applied a control amount of electricity to his head, just enough to disrupt memory formation. Then they jumped out of the Van and Kyle said, Jessi how do you want us to get up there? Jessi said, I don't want to ruin my dress, I suggest you climb up there is only 2 stories, kick in the window, and then I will use the water of this bottle to raise myself up there and enter.

Kyle smiled and said, good plan Jessi, I wouldn't want for your dress to get ruined either. He had an amused tone, but Jessi did not notice.

They followed Jessi's plan, and entered a room of shocked people all the board members were there as well as Cassidy.

Kyle spoke first, he said do not even try to move if you want to live. One of the board members tried to pull his cell phone out to call security. Kyle lost no time and directed a current of electricity his way; the board member fell to the floor seizing. Kyle said, this is just a warning the next one dies.

They were all pale now and sitting still, a couple of security guards enter the room. Jessi and Kyle started manipulating the blood in their aorta, and they fell to the floor screaming in pain. Jessi said, I have them Kyle, I am not into killing security guards, I will just keep them suffering until they pass out, after all the humanitarians here did the same to us. It might even be fun to do it to all of them, I am sure they would not mind. The screams of the guards were unbearable.

Many of the Latnok members had no idea of what Kyle and Jessi were talking about, and realized it had been a very bad idea to try to get Kyle and Jessi to cooperate by force. One of them was the board president. He said 781227 XY and 781228 XX, why have you turned against us your creators and benefactors. That made Jessi furious and she started manipulating the blood in his head; he screamed and held his head between his hands. Kyle said, I have it Jessi. Looking at the man he said, first of all you will call us by our names my name is Kyle and her name is Jessi. Second of all you might have created us but you are far from being our benefactors, torturers would be more like it. What we are demonstrating here is just the things that you taught us that are acceptable to do to other people. I don't see why it would surprise you. Stop bothering us, we want nothing to do with you, we don't want to fight you, if you force us then a fight you will have and you have much more to lose than us.

A woman spoke and said, Kyle, Jessi. I see getting you here by using force was a very bad idea, all we want is a working relationship with you, after all we invested a lot in creating you. Jessi said, whatever you invested is your problem we did not ask for it. If you wanted a working relationship why did you send teams to attack us and hurt us? Why do you threaten our family and why did you try to enslave us at Madacorp?

A man in his mid-50s spoke, look you are just computers and you cannot have a family that is ridiculous you belong to us. Kyle simply constricted his carotid arteries until he passed out. The rest of the members were in shock and thought they would have to investigate the allegations of the subjects. No one dare to move or speak.

At that moment Tom could not wait any longer and he and his team stormed the room to "rescue" Kyle and Jessi. Kyle said don't kill anyone. Then Kyle and Jessi exited the building with the guards. Tom listened to Kyle and killed no one, as much as he thought it was the perfect opportunity to get rid of the Latnok board. He suspected Adam would not approve of it either.

Tom had Kyle and Jessi get in to his new truck that was bullet proof, but otherwise looked a lot like his old one.

Foss was getting ready to yell at Kyle and Jessi, but Jessi was already sobbing uncontrollably on Kyle's shoulder, and Kyle appeared to be spaced out holding tight on to Jessi. Foss started the truck and drove away.
