Previously in "Angel of Destiny", Sarah kidnaps Amy, but Amy escapes from her mother by crashing the car.
Chapter Twenty-One
Finn, his brothers and Amy arrive at the house, where they're greeted with a too-quiet house. Finn peeks around the corner and sees Sage and their other children are fast asleep.
Sage woke up the minute she saw Amy and, giving Nathaniel to Ruby, she went to her daughter and hugged her. "Oh, Amy, my darling, you're all right! I was so worried about you."
"Mama," was all that Amy said as she clung tightly to Sage. Sage began to tear up at that word and hugged Amy tighter.
As they hugged, Amy looked over at her siblings, smiling at them through her tears. She was relieved to see them after what she went through. Once she finished hugging her mom, Amy hugged first Cooper then Bridget and lastly Ruby before she cradled Nathaniel to her.
Bridget smiled at Amy. "We're glad you're okay, Amy. We were worried about you."
"I know, Budge," she replied. "All I thought about was seeing you again, which made the situation I was in less scary."
"Who wants some cookies and milk?" Kol said from beside Lexi, who rolled her eyes as the two of them held their newborn twins.
Ruby smiled at her uncle's suggestion. "Oh, I'm definitely game. You're never too old for cookies and milk."
He smiled then bounced Xavier in place as he moved away from his wife before putting his arm around his niece's shoulder. "Let's go make some homemade ones then," he suggested.
Ruby smiled. "Good idea, Uncle Kol, just like we used to do when I was younger!"
He smiled again. "In fact, why don't we all pitch in?" he suggested to the group.
Kol's suggestion received a unanimous cheer from everyone and they went to the kitchen to begin the baking. Lexi, Sage and Caroline put the youngest ones in their baby bouncy chairs while Ruby, Bridget, Amy and Grace all climbed up onto the island, sitting with their backs to each other.
Once everyone was gathered in the kitchen, the ingredients for the cookies were taken out and the baking began. Halfway through it, a food fight had started, with everyone throwing flour, cookie dough and anything they could get their hands on.
As the food fight continued, screams and laughter could be heard from Amy, Bridget, Ruby, and even Cooper. In fact, making cookies seemed to be forgotten.
They'd reconnected as a family again and all was well in the world. Well, for some of them…
Finn was having a hard time being in a celebratory mood, especially when Sarah was still out there, no doubt injured after Amy caused the accident when she escaped from the car. Sage noticed how quiet he was and pulled herself away from the group, tugging gently on his arm so they could leave the kitchen.
The redhead stopped them in a private corner, where she hugged him tightly to her. "We'll get her, Finn. Please, I want to celebrate with my husband and not have him worry about his psycho ex being out there somewhere," she said softly against his neck.
Finn nodded. "I know we will, Sage, and I'm sorry that I'm so serious."
"Its okay, my love," she replied. "I don't blame you for being focused on protecting your family. But, how about we celebrate tonight and tomorrow, we can focus on finding Sarah?"
"I have a better idea," Finn said with a smirk before leading her out the back door, just past the kitchen, kissing her passionately once they were outside.
Sage returned his kiss and reached her hands up to frame his face as the kiss deepened. Finn began walking them backward toward the large, indoor pool house, walking them inside, where he gently pressed her against the wall, angling his head to further deepen the kiss.
Sage moaned as the kiss deepened, leaving his lips to throw her head back, allowing him to kiss her neck, letting out a small cry of pleasure. Finn took her offer then let one hand lift to the buttons of her blouse, opening them one at a time then parted the material, the same hand moving up the skin of her warm, supple ribs, where he pushed her blouse aside until he had exposed her shoulder.
Sage felt what he was doing to her, moaning and panting as the heat rose around them. "I love you, Finn."
"Not as much as I love you," he said in a muffled reply against the skin of her shoulder. His nose nuzzled its way up her neck, his lips pressing open-mouthed kisses along the skin there before finally venturing up to claim her lips once more.
Sage then slipped off his jacket and threw it on the floor, after which she went for the buttons on his shirt, her fingers making contact with the smooth skin underneath. Finn pushed his shirt off then removed hers as well before turning them and heading toward the steps that went into the pool. "Finn…you're not thinking of doing what I think you are, are you?"
Finn smirked at her. "Oh, come on, Sage, we used to do this all the time. Remember when we were in Miami? We snuck into the hotel pool after hours and skinny dipped together."
"That's been a while though, Finn. I haven't been in a pool since before I was pregnant," Sage told him, still hesitating.
Finn kissed her softly. "True, but just indulge me, please, Sage?"
"After you," she said with a playful grin, pushing on his chest and sending him into the pool with a big splash. Finn popped up out of the water and shook his wet hair out of his face. He then heard Sage laughing at him and looked to see her standing there, trying hard not to laugh too hard. Reaching out, Finn grasped her ankle then yanked her gently into the pool.
She came up sputtering and spit her water out in his face. He wiped it away before pulling her flush against him, kissing her before she could protest about where they were.
Sage playfully hit him as she returned his kiss, moaning against his lips as their tongues danced against each other.
Kicking his legs rapidly, Finn moved them over to the wall, gently pressing her against it. Then he stripped away the remainder of her now wet clothes, and she returned the favor.
Once they were completely naked, Finn pushed her thighs apart with his knee and drove his throbbing member into her core, thrusting slowly at first and then picked up speed. Sage let out soft sounds of pleasure against the skin of his shoulder, biting down gently so she didn't leave marks.
Finn moaned as he felt what she was doing to his shoulder. "Sage, love, don't tease."
"I have no intention of teasing you," she replied. "I intend on giving you everything."
"Good," he said as he pressed a little deeper into her. She clutched him tighter when he did. "Because I'm going to give you everything too…"
Sage licked her lips. "Give it to me, my British Prince."
"Gladly, my Irish Rose," Finn said. "You mean everything to me."
"As do you," she said as her slender fingers stroked the wet hair at the nape of his neck.
Finn smiled at her and kissed her, biting her bottom lip with his teeth, a shiver going up their spines due to both the intensity of their emotions and the water against their skin.
Meanwhile…
"Where did Finnegan and Sage go off to?" Rebekah asked as she helped clean Dante and Alexis' faces off.
Klaus smirked. "Knowing them, they're probably having their own celebration."
Caroline pinched his arm while cleaning their own children's faces off.
Klaus felt her pinch him. "Ouch! Caroline, what did you pinch me for?"
Caroline rolled her eyes. "You were being immature and I was bringing you back to reality."
Rebekah listened to this and started laughing at them. Klaus turned an angry glare to his sister, who only shrugged and continued to laugh. Klaus sighed heavily. "For God's sake, Bekah, what is so funny?"
Rebekah laughed as she said, "Nothing, I just like what Caroline did, that's all."
Klaus picked up what remained of the cookie dough and lifted it to aim at his sister's face, but just as he threw it in her direction, she ducked and it hit his brother instead.
Elijah felt the cookie dough hit his face and wasn't too pleased when he saw that it was Klaus who threw it at him. "Niklaus, why did you throw that at me?"
Klaus was indignant. "I wasn't aiming at you, Elijah, I was aiming at Rebekah. She ducked as I threw it." Elijah was about to respond again when he watched his wife, who had finished cleaning of Maria's and Colin's faces throw something in Klaus' direction.
Klaus looked at Katherine as he wiped his face. "I said I was aiming for Rebekah, not Elijah."
Katherine smirked. "I know. I just wanted to defend my husband."
And the food fight began again once the adults got the younger ones out of the room, but Ruby, Caleb, Amy, Evan, Bridget and Sam remained. They were all wearing identical smiles, happy that they could bond with the rest of the family.
At that moment, Finn and Sage came from the pool house, dressed in bathrobes because their clothes were still wet. Sage saw the mess in the kitchen and her eyes bulged. "What is going on here?"
Everyone paused when they heard Sage's voice and turned to look at the couple. "Mum, Father, where have you two been? And why is your hair all wet?" Bridget asked her mother.
Sage shook her head. "I believe I asked you first, Bridget. Now, why is my kitchen a mess?"
"Well, we were cleaning up and then Uncle Nik threw a chunk of cookie dough at Aunt Rebel, so Aunt Kat threw one at Uncle Nik because Aunt Bekah ducked and the cookie dough landed on Uncle Elijah's face instead," Bridget replied.
Sage sighed and rolled her eyes. Why was this not surprising, considering how Klaus and Rebekah would sometimes have clashes? It made her glad she was an only child. She looked at Klaus. "Why did you and Rebekah have to choose now to have your clashes, Niklaus? What kind of an example is that setting for your children, as well as your nieces and nephews?" She saw that Klaus was about to answer her, but stopped him. "And I don't care who started it, so you can forget about placing blame." She turned to Bridget. "Your father decided he wanted to go swimming in the pool," was all Sage told her middle daughter.
Bridget nodded when she heard her mother's explanation. "Oh, okay."
Sage nodded then headed upstairs. Lexi soon followed her now sister-in-law, stopping the redhead at the bottom of the stairs. "What happened with you and Finn earlier?"
"We went skinny-dipping, Lexi," Sage said with a crimson blush crossing onto her cheeks.
"Ooh, you dirty girl!" Lexi said with a smirk.
Sage blushed even more. "It was his idea, not mine. He mentioned the time we skinny dipped together in Miami."
"Still, at least you two got to have some more private time. You two deserve it, after all that you went through," Lexi reminded the redhead.
Sage nodded. "You're right, we do. This whole thing with Sarah really took a toll on us and we needed time to ourselves."
"If something happened to Grace, I'd be so angry," Lexi said with a frown.
"Yes, but you don't have a crazy ex-lover of your husband's coming after you. You have an adoring husband, one who was a widow before he met you," Sage told the blonde.
Lexi smiled. "Yes, and I'm definitely grateful that Kol came into my life. I adore Hannah and I even love Xavier and Nadia. Grace and Evan have never been happier to have a stepfather as loving as Kol."
"And you never thought you'd find a greater guy than him, right?" Sage prodded her.
Lexi smiled. "That's right. I thought that after Lee died, I'd never be happy again. Then, Kol comes along and everything changes and I'm happy for the first time in a long time."
"A relationship like yours and Kol's is a rare one," Sage said. "We all knew it as soon as we heard how you two met."
Lexi nodded. "Oh, rare doesn't even begin to describe it. Still, we're happy together. We saved each other, you know, from the emptiness that was left when our significant others died."
"That's the way Finn and I felt. I saved him from the life he didn't want with Sarah, a loveless marriage, and he saved me from entering into a marriage I didn't want," Sage said.
Lexi's eyes widened. "Wait, you were going to marry someone else?"
Sage nodded. "Unfortunately, yes. My father wanted me to marry someone within his company, but I wanted no part of it. I didn't love the man he chose for me, and I never would either. Thankfully, I found Finn and I haven't regretted it since."
"Will you tell me about how you and Finn first met?" Lexi asked with pleading eyes.
Sage got nervous. "Are you sure?"
Lexi nodded. "Of course I am. I want to know what happened when you guys first met."
"Okay, come upstairs so I can dry my hair off," Sage said, tugging gently on her hand to pull the blonde upstairs with her.
Lexi nodded and followed her sister-in-law upstairs to her room. She was looking forward to hearing about how she and Finn met, since it sounded like a very intriguing story of love conquering all.
Once they were in the bedroom, Sage closed the outer door then headed into the bathroom, where Lexi sat down on the closed toilet lid while the redhead got out her hair dryer. Sage dried her hair, making sure she got every last bit of dampness out. Then, once she was done, she looked at Lexi, who was patiently waiting to hear the story. Sighing, she said, "Okay, the story of how Finn and I met began like this. I had gone to a party my father was throwing at his company. I hated it, wanting to get out in the worst way. I especially wanted to get away from Patrick Duncan, the guy my father introduced me to earlier that day. The man was no gentleman, I'll tell you that much. Hell, Sarah would've loved him."
"So, what happened next?" Lexi asked.
"Well…"
Twenty-One Years Earlier
O'Reilly-Duncan Merger Party…
"I asked you to go away, Patrick! Don't you get it? I don't have any desire to talk to you!" Sage yelled, throwing her hands up in surrender.
"Excuse me, but is this gentleman bothering you?" an accented voice asked Sage. The redhead looked over to where the voice came from, and nearly fainted at the sight of the man with the voice.
He looked handsome in his tuxedo, and the two champagne glasses were obviously made for him. Sage accepted the one he held out for her before turning to smirk at Patrick, her 'get lost' look working wonders as he finally growled and walked away.
After Patrick left, Sage turned to her savior. "Thanks for the save. I couldn't stand being near that man another minute."
"Well, it was a good thing I showed up when I did, didn't I?" He smiled at her. "I'm Finn Mikaelson. What's your name, love?"
"I'm Sage O'Reilly. It's good to meet you, Finn Mikaelson." She glanced around the room before turning back to him. "What brings you here anyway?"
"I was hired to help keep the place secure by a Seamus O'Reilly. The rest of my family is here as well, since some of them couldn't seem to resist a good celebration," he replied before taking a sip of his champagne.
Sage nodded. "I could imagine that your family likes parties." She raised an eyebrow. "You said my father hired you? Well, judging by the way that you came to my aid like that, I definitely could use a man like you to keep me secure."
She was suddenly cut off when she felt his lips brush hers and her green-eyed gaze went toward the pair that was coming in their direction before they drifted closed. On instinct, the redhead and the man kissing her immediately put their barely-sipped champagne glasses on the tray of a passing waiter held in his hand before Finn let one hand lift to gently press against her neck while the other lowered to grasp her thigh gently, wrapping it around his waist. Sage gasped into the kiss, allowing Finn to gain the entrance his tongue had wanted.
Sage stepped back, reluctantly breaking the kiss. "That was amazing."
Finn smiled at her. "Yes, but not half as amazing as you."
Before they could say anything else, they were interrupted by the arrival of Patrick and Sage's father. "Sage, sweetheart, I see that you've met Agent Mikaelson," Seamus said.
"I have, Father," Sage said with a forced smile.
Finn saw that Patrick was giving him a rather nasty look. He was no doubt still angry about earlier, even though it was obvious that Sage didn't want to have anything to do with him. "If you'd like, Mr. O'Reilly, I can be your daughter's personal bodyguard."
Sage was ready to agree but Seamus cut her off. "My daughter does not need a personal bodyguard, Mr. Mikaelson. She will have a safe, secure home with Patrick here," her father replied. Sage grew red in the face before turning to her father.
"Father, I'd like to speak to Agent Mikaelson in private, if you don't mind," Sage said. Seamus regarded her for a few minutes before nodding and pulling Patrick away once again. Turning to Finn, Sage let her green eyes connect with his brown ones. Before Finn could say anything, she said, "My father is wrong, you know. I do need someone like to be my personal bodyguard. I neither like nor trust Patrick. He scares me. I'd rather die than live with a man like that."
"Do not say things like that, love," Finn said softly as he stepped toward her, framing her face in his hands. "You can be free of him. Just say the word, and I will take you away from all of this."
Sage felt her heart hammer as tears stung her eyes and flowed down her cheeks at his words. "Then, take me away from here, tonight, Finn, because I can't stand being here another minute. I don't care where we go as long as I'm with you."
"Let me see if I can round up the rest of my family and I'll find you," Finn said before pressing his lips to her forehead.
Sage nodded. "Okay, I'll be waiting for you. Hurry back."
Finn nodded then turned and went to find his family, finding his sisters huddled together. "Rebel, Sabrina, are you two ready to go?"
"Finnegan, you know I detest that name, but yes, we are ready whenever you are," Rebekah replied.
Finn nodded. "Good, sister, because we're going to have company with us. I'm bringing Seamus O'Reilly's daughter with us."
"Wait, you're bringing that redhead you were kissing earlier?" Rebekah hissed.
Finn gave his sister a stern look. "Yes, the redhead I was kissing earlier. Apparently, she doesn't want to be here, and quite frankly, neither do I."
"I will go find Father and Mum, and the others," Sabrina said before walking off.
Finn nodded and watched as Sabrina walked off to find the rest of the family. Then he turned to his other sister. "Do you have a problem with my choices, Rebekah? Because it sounds very much to me like you do!"
"I do not! You just made ONE bad choice. Sarah…That woman was insufferable. Did I tell you that she had the gall to call me one time and ask to go shopping with her?"
Finn growled. "Yes, well, you don't have to worry about her anymore, because I ended things with Sarah for good. I hated her as much as you did."
"Good riddance of filth," Rebekah said with a smile. "Oh, Finn, the redhead you were dancing with…she is quite lovely. I just hope you know what you are getting yourself into with her."
Finn nodded. "I do, Bekah. Sage is a delightful young lady and although I just met her, I think I'm already in love with her, kind of like how Father felt about Eleanor when they first met."
"If you need reinforcements, let me know. I can woo Patrick into forgetting that Sage exists," Rebekah suggested.
"No, that won't be necessary, sister," Finn said before kissing Rebekah's forehead.
Rebekah, though disappointed, nodded. "All right, but just remember, I offered."
"I do not wish to see you get hurt, Rebel. You are one of my two sisters, and I do not wish to see you hurt," Finn said as he hugged her gently, leading her toward the outer door. He smiled over at the redhead who joined them, putting his other arm around her shoulders.
Sage rested her head on his shoulder. She felt safe already with Finn. He didn't make her want to vomit the way Patrick did. The rest of Finn's family followed behind them, the entire group getting keys from the valet parker outside the front.
Finn looked at Sage as he started the engine. "Are you sure that you want to do this?"
Sage nodded. "I'm sure. The sooner I get away from Patrick Duncan, the better."
He nodded then pulled away, with his father's vehicle following behind.
As they drove, Sage looked out the window at the scenery that went by. She then stole a few glances at Finn, licking her lips. He looked handsome all decked out in his tux and she was tempted to jump him and tear it off as they had hot, steamy, passionate sex.
Finn caught her looking at him through the mirror. "I see I'm making you have impure thoughts about me, Miss O'Reilly."
She felt the heat rise in her cheeks and she looked away, gasping when she felt his hand cover her thigh and squeezing gently. Her red hair swished in a whisper-like movement as she turned to look at him. "Finn, you're supposed to have two hands on the wheel," she said on another gasp when his hand moved higher.
"We are almost at my apartment anyway, so you won't have to wait much longer," he said huskily. The smooth, husky timber of his voice had her squirming in the seat, and when the SUV finally came to a complete stop, the redhead released her seat belt buckle before undoing his and framing his face in her hands, her mouth crashing immediately to his.
Finn moaned against her lips and returned her kiss, feeling himself getting hard. "How about we take this inside? I'd rather have you in my bed than my car."
Sage nodded. "That's probably a good idea. We wouldn't want the neighbors to get the wrong idea about us."
They got out of the SUV then headed into the apartment building, where Finn immediately swept her into his arms, kissing her passionately as he carried her up the stairs to the second floor, where he put her down in front of his apartment door.
Finn smiled at her and opened the door. "Are you ready, Sage?"
Sage licked her lips. "Oh, yes, Finn, I am ready. I want this. I want you."
He nodded then carried her into the apartment, kicking the door shut behind him and letting her come to stand on her own two feet once more before crashing his mouth to hers, his tongue persuading, coaxing her lips open. Sage allowed him entrance, arms lifting to wrap around his broad shoulders while his wrapped tightly around her slim, tall frame.
Sage felt a thousand emotions hit her at once as the kiss deepened. She'd say this for Finn; he was quite a passionate lover. Finn then led them toward his bedroom, where he scooped her up again and carried her to the bed, following her onto the cool sheets, running his hands up and down her body.
Reaching up behind her back, Finn gently eased the zipper that he located in the area between her shoulder blades down until he could part the material. Sage arched against him, her slender fingers reaching up to his shoulders and pushing his jacket off. Her neck tilted to the side when he began to press open-mouthed kisses along the fair skin, adding his tongue on occasion and smirking when he felt her squirm against him. "Do you want me, love?"
"Yes. Yes, I want you. So, so bad!" she whispered, her breaths coming in ragged, uneven pants.
Finn nodded and removed her dress completely, as well her bra, caressing and kissing her breasts. Sage then ripped his shirt open, sending the buttons all over the place. Of course, she didn't care about that. The only thing she cared about was Finn. "Finn, please don't…"
"Don't what, love? Tell me."
"Don't tease me."
"Oh? Like this, you mean?" he whispered, his fingers trailing along the inner part of her thigh.
Sage let out a soft whining sound. "Yes, exactly like that!" she said between pants.
Finn smirked at her. "Then, I'll definitely make sure I tease you like that then." He trailed his fingers along her inner thigh again, getting the same result as before.
"Finn, please…I need you, NOW," she whined.
Finn kissed her. "Your wish is my command."
That being said, he removed his pants and underwear, pushing her legs apart and driving his throbbing member into her core, thrusting slowly at first so that she could get used to him and gradually picking up speed.
The Next Morning…
Finn stirs into a waking state, eyes fluttering open and he first glances over, a little sad when he sees only a note beside him. Reaching out and picking it up, Finn let his head fall back onto the pillow, opening the folded piece of paper and read the contents inside.
"My Darling Finn,
I enjoyed being with you. You are the sweetest, most caring man I ever met. In fact, I think I've fallen head over heels in love with you. I want to see you again, and I know you do too.
Love you always and forever,
Sage"
Present Day…
"That is such a romantic story!" Lexi said excitedly when Sage finally finished.
"It really is. We came a long way since then," Sage said with a smile.
