The performance they put on that night was definitely one of the best shows that they had ever done. Even considering the fact that Jack and Kim hadn't spoken to each other all night, in fact, they had hardly paid attention to one another all night.

"Kim, are you ready?" a tall, brown-eyed male walked out of the curtains and towards the blonde female.

"Yeah just let me grab my bag and jacket and I'm all yours" she smiled at the boy and walked over to Grace who was giving her a questioning look. Taking the leather jacket and handbag that Grace was holding out, she gave the girl a wink and turned back around. Everyone watched the couple as they exited the stage, Kim's arm tucked into the crooks of her companion.

"Who on earth was that?" Grace shrugged at Jacks question, confused herself.

"Oh that's Brett, his Dad owns the venue. He asked Kim when she got here if she wanted a tour around the town"

"And she said yes?" Jack asked when Jerry finished talking.

"Of course she did" Jerry shook his head. "And they call me the dumb one"

"Come on Jack, let's just finish packing up" Grace took his arm and turned him back towards the stage.

An hour later Jack found himself stood outside his hotel room, saying goodnight to Jerry, Grace and Milton who were going to go and watch a movie. They had offered and asked if he wanted to join them but he declined and pulled his phone out of his pocket, scrolling down until he found a particular number. "Yes guys, I'll be fine. Go and enjoy your film" he walked into his hotel room and shut the door behind him, pressing dial whilst he did so. "Hey Liv, you free?"

"And this is the diner that all of us hang out at. Not going to lie, this place does the best burgers in town" Brett pointed towards a busy and lit up diner to his right.

"Best burgers in town eh? Maybe I should be the judge of that"

"Is that your way of saying you want to go on a date with me?" Brett smirked, glancing at the blonde from the corner of his eye. Kim blushed and ducked her head a little bit to try and hide her face from view. "Don't worry girl, I'd love to go on a date with you, come on, let's go" He took her small hand in his significantly larger one and began dragging her towards the door.

The diner was warm and friendly with beige and white walls and photos of what seemed like the staff and some of the regulars and even some of staff and different celebrities that must have come in, hanging on the walls. There were big red stools all around the bar with some of them occupied by people drinking coffee and reading the newspapers – something that Kim only imagined herself seeing in the mornings. Most of the tables were already taken but Brett had managed to find a clean and empty one near the back and next to the window.

"Two cheeseburgers, fries and vanilla milkshakes please" Brett told the waitress when she came over to take the order. Kim wasn't a massive fan on vanilla, preferring chocolate, but didn't say anything as Brett smiled at the waitress as she walked off.

They engaged in small talk for a while, getting to know each other's hobbies and favourite things, Kim telling Brett what it was like being famous and Brett telling Kim what it was like meeting famous people that came to play at the venue. It wasn't long until the conversation turned to the rest of the band and Brett's friends.

"So who's all of us?"

"There's a huge group of us who have been friends since the beginning of high school but some of us have been friends since childhood. There's me, Sam, Brody, Mia, Lizzie and Harry that have known each other since we were in kindergarten and then Theo, Angie, Chris, Nathan, Tasha and Lucy joined our group in Freshman year. I think you'll love them Kim, they're all so nice," her smile dropped a little bit at this and she stared sadly at the boy in front on her.

"Brett, you do know I'm only in town for another 2 weeks don't you?" he reached over the table and placed his hand over hers, her eyes softening a little at the gesture.

"I know, and I know that you're not looking for anything serious right now. I mean, with everything that is going on between you and Jack"

"There's nothing going on between me and Jack," Brett just gave her a look that once again made her duck her head, in slight embarrassment this time.

"Kim, I've been a fan of The City since the beginning of your careers. The chemistry between you and Jack is unreal," he squeezed her hand "plus, everyone heard your fight and what it was about before the show, so yes, we all know that there is something between you and Jack" he smiled and gave her hand another gentle squeeze before pulling it away. "That's why I am perfectly happy with just being your friend and go – to guy if you ever need anything."

"You're a great guy Brett," Kim said, reaching for her milkshake that the waitress had brought not too long after they ordered.

Before Brett could say anything else, the waitress, who's nametag read Amy came back with their food and another milkshake on a tray and placed it in front of them. "Eat up girl, I need you to tell me I'm right."

"So I can make your ego even bigger? No thanks," she threw a chip at his face and sent him a grin before beginning to eat.

Brett walked her back to the hotel and stood with her in the lobby. They had taken a detour on their way back and visited the park which had one of the prettiest fountains that Kim had ever seen. "I had a really good time with you tonight, thank you girl," he pulled her into a hug and kissed her forehead before pulling away. "like I said before, if you ever need me, I'm here. You have my number."

"Thank you Brett, it means a lot, considering you just met me and all. Goodnight," she gave him another hug and squeezed him tight, not wanting to leave his embrace just yet.

"Goodnight girl," she pulled away and smiled up at him. Stepping out of his arms, she began the short walk over to the elevator, giving him one final wave just as the doors closed. It didn't take long for the lift to reach the floor that the band was staying on and it was an even shorter journey for Kim to walk to her room. Jerry and Grace were staying in the room next door to hers and Milton's with Jacks room opposite. Rudy and everyone else had rooms a bit further down the corridor.

Kim opened the door to her room and chucked her bag and jacket onto the armchair that was nearest to the door. Turning back around, she began to close the door when she noticed Jack's room open, she closed the door a little bit but left enough space so she could see what was happening. The girl that was in his bed that morning walked out, carrying her heels in one hand and her jacket in the other. Jack came out a second later, shirtless and in a pair of sweatpants that were riding low on his hips.

He grabbed the back of the girl's neck and pulled her towards him in a bruising kiss. "I'll call you later," Jack whispered when they finally broke apart and smacked her bum when she walked away, causing the girl to giggle.

Kim scoffed and shut the door rather loudly behind her. "Sorry my ass," she kicked her boots off her feet and jumped onto the bed next to Milton, making him look over at the blonde beside him.

"You okay?"

"Of course," lies. Milton knew she wasn't from the minute she walked in and began sulking.

"How was your date," he asked, hoping he could take her mind off whatever was bothering her. It worked as she perked up and blushed slightly.

"It wasn't a date," she mumbled "we literally went out for a bite to eat and talked about our lives. We agreed to be friends and he gave me his number in case I ever needed him. He's lovely Milton, honestly so lovely. You'd love him," Kim smiled at her best friend and stole some of the popcorn from the dish that was resting on his lap.

"I'm glad you're getting happy again Kim," Milton replied.

"Don't get all soppy on me now Milton Krupnick, now tell me about what's been going on between you and Katy," As he oldest best friend began telling her everything that had happened recently between him and his girlfriend, Kim couldn't help but think how far he had come. From a shy and awkward boy to a confident and cool man, Milton had certainly changed the most since the band started and Kim couldn't be prouder of the man that he had become.

"Will the band be okay Jerry?" The couple were lying in their bed with a movie playing in the background. Grace was cuddling into his side and was gently rubbing circles on her slightly swollen stomach. Even though she was coming up to 22 weeks pregnant, she wasn't showing much and you could only tell she was expecting if she faced sideways.

"Of course it will be Gracie. Jack and Kim are meant to be; they can't stay mad at each other forever. I give it a month tops before they crack"

"He better not mess up again though. Yes, Kim hurt him and I get that he was upset but he has put that girl through hell recently and she doesn't deserve to be treated like that"

"Yeah that's true, I agree with you there," Jerry nodded but focus was now back on the movie playing in front of them.

"Are you even listening to me?" Grace asked her boyfriend.

"Mhm, yeah of course," he glanced at her for a second but carried on watching the film. Grace shook her head but smiled at him nonetheless.

"You're ridiculous," she replied.

"You love me though," he pulled her firmly to his side and planted a kiss on her forehead, his hand joining her own on her stomach.

"That I do Jer," she placed her head on his chest, right about where his heart was beating strongly and moved her arm so it was resting on his stomach before focusing on the movie with him "that I do".

Bet this is probably the shortest time that you've had to wait ever for a chapter isn't it. I hope you enjoyed it, Don't you worry, Kim and Jack will get together eventually, or will they?! Please review and let me know what you thought, I'm open to taking any suggestions, although you might not see them for another couple of chapters as i already have chapters 22 and 23 written. You shouldn't have to wait too long for chapter 22 either.
