After saying goodbye to the teacher for the night, Emma and Eva went back into their room at the bed and breakfast. They decided not to move into Mary Margaret's apartment until the next day, they still needed to pack up the few clothes and other items that they had possessed while in StoryBrooke. It wasn't much but It was all they had at the moment. Gold had supplied the two money, to live on. He knew that Queen Eva had not worked a day in her life, and if he wanted this curse broken, he had to be generous. The next morning, Emma was sitting down while her Grandmother was brushing her hair.
"Stop moving so much Emma, this could be a lot easier for the both of us".
"But it hurts!" Emma whined.
Eva was about to respond but was interrupted when she heard a knock on the door.
"Well, who could that be. Stay right there. Your not leaving that chair until that hair is tangled free".
Emma waited until her Grandmother turned around to stick her tounge out at her as she went to open the door. She heard her Grandmother breathe deeply as she greeted the person at the door dryly.
"Madam Mayor. What a pleasant surprise. How many I help you?"
"Good-morning. I came to see if I could walk Emma to school this morning".
"That's nice of you, but Emma is not ready for school. She has to get dressed, and I have to finish brushing her hair, then she must eat". Eva thought about everything she had to do to get her granddaughter ready for school.
Regina looked at her watch, and said angrily. "Well, if I am correct, as I usually am, Emma has about 20 minutes to get to school, before she is late, and it takes about 10 minutes to walk there".
"yes, and right now, you have slowed down the process. I need to get back to Emma".
When Emma heard her name she jumped up off the chair and made her way to the door. She knew her Grandma was talking to someone, she just didn't know who since she was talking quietly. Emma pushed the door open more so that she too, can fit. When she saw Regina standing there, she greeted her excitedly. "Hi Regina". Emma gave her a quick hug around her waist that was immediately returned this time.
"Hello Emma. I wanted to walk you to school this morning. Do hurry up and get ready, so that you won't be late".
"Okay, I'll be right back". And with that she sprinted away to put on her school uniform.
"I never said it was okay for you to take Emma anywhere, Madam Mayor. I don''t know what she see's in you, that makes her look up to you so much, but you better not hurt my granddaughter".
"I can assure you Ma'am. I have no intentions on hurting Emma. I just want what's best for her. And if I may be so bold to ask, did you just threaten me?" Regina glared at the other woman.
"Make no mistake, I don't make threats, I make promises. And I NEVER brake those". The two women now stood about an inch apart as they were right on each other staring the other down. Eva sensed Emma approaching so she smirked at the mayor before she distance her self to let Emma through.
"Bye Grandma, don't worry, I will be good at school today, and I'll grab some breakfast to go down stairs, I've already called Ruby. I love you". Emma gave her grandmother a quick hug.
"I love you too, have a great day at school".
Eva looked at Emma half detangled hair, The back half was detangled and the top half was in a messy bun. Oh well she thought. It was kindof cute.
"Come on Regina let's go", Emma pulled at her arm, dragging her down the hall way.
The two talked about nothing in particular, most of the walk was just of Emma rambling on about random things. She was careful not to mention anything about the curse, or bring up any fairy tales. When they arrived in front of the school, a lot of the kids threw nasty looks Regina's way. Emma thought they were directed towards her.
"Why are they looking at me like that? Everyone was so nice yesterday". Emma said sadly.
"Emma, dear", Regina held Emma's chin in her hands so that she was looking at her. "They are looking at me, this may come as a shock to you but, not many people here like me, I make hard decisions that are best for everyone, sometimes they just do not see it".
"oh". Emma nodded as she listened to Regina. No, they don't like you because your a bitch sometimes, she thought to herself. She would never tell Regina that though. Regina was her friend. "I better go to my classroom now. Thanks for walking me to school". Emma gave Regina a hug before she started to walk off.
"Emma, wait" Regina said nervously.
"I would like to walk you to school tomorrow morning as well, I mean if you would like".
"I would like that but, Miss Blanchard said that I could walk with her every morning. She gets here before the students, but I can help her set up the classroom".
"The bed and breakfast is not on the way to her school. She in that direction". Regina pointed to the opposite direction in which they traveled. Regina felt herself becoming jealous. Why did that woman have to take away everything that she cared about, that she saw as hers.
"Oh, I forgot to tell you, My Grandma and I are moving into Miss Blanchard's apartment. She said upstairs could be ours, and we can share her kitchen, and she has a TV, and lots of movies. And scary movies".
Regina grind-ed her teeth. She did not want to share Emma with Mary Margaret. It was bad enough she was the only teacher that was available for Emma, Given each grade had one teacher. Emma noticed how quiet and pissed looking Regina seemed. She did not want her to do anything to her mother. She knew she had to fix this. Make Regina realize that Emma still liked her and wanted to spend time with her.
"Regina". Emma tugged on her sleeve to grab her attention. When Regina looked down at her she continued.
"Um, can I ask you a question?" Emma looked down at her shoe.
"It's may you, and yes you may".
"I wanted to know If maybe I could spend the night at your house on the weekend, maybe we could watch movies or something?" Emma looked up at the mayor, and noticed that she looked sad. "It's okay if you say no". Emma looked back down at her shoes.
Regina lifted Emma's chin again, this time when Emma looked at her she saw a smile. "I would love that Emma".
Emma smiled. She just needed to convince her Grandmother now, that she would be safe at Regina's. "Really. That's great". The bell ranged and all the kids started filing inside of the building.
"I have to go Regina, see you Friday, Come pick me up from school okay. Emma gave her a quick hug goodbye before she took off running towards the school door.
