Disclaimer: I do not own Teen Titans
Scar laid in the imfirmery once again. He'd slept here more in the last few months than his own room, or it least that's how it seemed. His entire body ached, and his facial expression was that of extreme bitterness.
Robin hadn't said anything after Scar ahd claimed he didn't hate him. And if he had, Scar had passed out before it was said. He didn't know why he knew he didn't hate Robin. Perhaps it was because Robin had provided him with a home when no one else had.
He'd been walking in the void of emptyness he felt now. He'd left his kingdom. His family. His people. By chance, he'd walked into Jump City, and had been met with a women walking her poodle. Scar hated domesticated dogs.
He'd been angry, feeling just like the dog. He could never get this leash off of him. He'd eaten the dog, and the women screamed. Robin had heard the scream, and attacked him to defend the women.
The two were both on leashes, both so the same. But they were so different at the same time. One lawful good, the other chaotic good.
Scar growled, slamming his fist, which was wrapped in bandages, on the coffee table with a lamp placed on it next to him. "Rat bastard..." He muttered under his breath.
The door slide open as Scar stared at the ceiling. He knew who it was. "Well if it isn't my favorite visitor." He said sarcastically. "Your only visitor." Blackfire corrected, crossing her arms.
"Leave. I don't need to hear shit from you too." Scar said. Each of the others had leactured him on what he'd done. He didn't even bother to argue. They were all imbeciles. Blinded by their feelings. But then again, so was he.
"I'm not here to give you shit." Blackfire sat at the edge of Scar's bed. "Then what are you here for?" Scar asked, though he didn't really care. "For answers." "Piss off." Scar answered easily.
"Well aren't you in a pleasant mood?" Blackfire mocked. If Scar had the strength, and his body wasn't in constant agony, he'd have gotten up and smacked her upside the head. "Just shut up..."
"Why did you go so far as to transform into that on Robin?" Blackfire ignored Scar's words. The last thing she'd seen before she blacked out was the shock and horror on Scar's face as she fell.
Scar clenched his hand into a fist, which hurt. "None of your damn business." Scar growled. "I think it is. The others told me you snapped right after I fell. You even attacked Starfire because she was too close to my body..." Blackfire looked down at Scar, who's eyes remained on the ceiling.
To be honest, he couldn't really remember everything that had happened. He remembered the important parts, such as why Beastboy had a broken nose and constant head aches, and why Cyborg only had one arm.
But he deffinatly remembered why he attacked Starfire. He was filled with some much anger... It was like watching someone aim a gun at something you cared so much about... Scar shook his head. He refused to except that as the reason why he attacked.
He was just angry. Out of control. That was all. "You had nothing to do with it." Was he lying? "I was just out of control." Probably. "..." Blackfire remained sillent, before standing and walking from the room, leaving Scar to think alone once again.
Alone.
Again.
Beastboy sat on the couch, bandages on his nose and an ice pack on his head. Starfire sat across from him, deep in thought. Raven was asleep in her room, having taken a few Asprins.
Cyborg was in his own room, working on his new arm. With only one arm. That was... Difficult. Each of them were thinking the same thing. If Slade hadn't stepped in... Would Robin have survived?
And what had Slade used on Scar? How did he do it? The deep thoughts were broken when the door slid open, and Blackfire walked into the room. She seemed... What's the word? Pissed? Yeah, that fit.
Scar slowly climbed from the bed. It had been about an hour since Blackfire's visit, and his thoughts still tried to focus on her, though he wouldn't alow it. He had bandages wrapped around his abdomen, and he grabbed his jacket, pulling the sleeves over his arms.
Scar winced, and he grabbed his stab wound. It was bleeding, but he didn't care. In fact, he'd counted on that. The wound was signifigantly smaller, and he had to do this now, or he wouldn't be able to have a wound long enough to get a blood sample.
Scar limped to the door, one hand on his injury. The door slid open, and he walked into the hallway. He winced with a grunt of pain, placing one hand on the wall to steady himself.
He panted, beads of sweat falling down his face. He was sick of taking the injuries. But who better than him? He growled, slamming his fist on the wall. He felt weak. Helpless.
He continued to limp through the hallway, a permanant scowl on his face. He almost fell, catching himself on a small table with a picture on it. He looked up from the ground, which seemed to spin slowly, and up at the picture.
It was all seven of them. All grinning happily in front of the tower. Scar's fangs were showing as he grinned, and Beastboy laughed in the picture. Scar snarled, hitting the picture with his arm, sending it to the floor and making the frame shatter.
Scar continued to stumble, one arm staying on the wall as he turned a corner and walked past Cyborgs room. The door was open, and he could see him muttering angrily and working on his arm.
Scar shook his head, continuing to walk. He stood in front of a door, and it slid open. He walked in, walking to a table with a microscope. His hand grew claws, and he tore off the bandages, his blood falling to the ground.
Scar took a sample of his blood, and put it under the microscope. His eyes widened. He knew it. On his blood small robots with the Slade symbol on them. He gritted his teeth, and his hands clenched into fists.
All of the titans had gathered in the living room. Cyborg had recently finished recreating his arm from the usable peices left at the battle, and Raven's head ach had subsided.
"So... What are we going to do..?" Beastboy finally spoke. "I... I don't know, B." Cyborg said, running one hand over his head. "It's obvious Slade has some form of trump card. That's what he used to put Scar down. And it's probably what's used to keep Robin in line..."
"Correct."
Everyone turned to the door way, where Scar stood, leaning against the door frame. A small drop of blood sat on his lip, and sweat slowly slid down his face. It was obvious he was in pain.
"Scar! You shouldn't be up!" Blackfire immediately stood. "I'm fine..." Scar lied. "And I know what Slade did to us."
Slade sat in front of the monitors, which showed Robin's fight with the titans before Scar had intervened. "Thrilling." Slade was playing the same scene over and over.
"He's progressing even faster than I had hoped." Slade leaned back in his chair. "And Scar probably won't be a problem again." Slade concluded. "All he needed was a little... Motivation." Slade seemed pretty happy with himself.
"Motivate this!"
Slade looked in shock to the side, seeing Robin pulling back his fist and throwing a punch, which Slade caught with ease before throwing Robin through the air. "Robin, that was vicious dishonorable and ruthless." Slade stood, walking towards Robin.
Slade had forced Robin to take a few pain killers and healing excelerators after his fight with Scar. Needless to say, they'd helped. "Excelent work. You're becoming more like me every second."
Slade turned to walk away after speaking, but stopped, turning once again and throwing a punch, which Robin narrowly dodged. Followed by a kick, which was also dodged.
Robin threw a punch, but Slade dodged and Robin stumbled. Slade grabbed him from behind, crushing him. Robin dwung his foot up, kicking Slade in the face and making him drop him.
"What the hell..?" Cyborg muttered as he looked at the screen that showed Scar's blood sample. The probs remained hooked to his blood, though they were now shut down, as they'd left the body.
"That's what the blast did to us in the sewers, it put those things in us." Scar explained, looking to Cyborg. "Now, imagine those moving around with your blood and multiplying whenever needed." Everyone seemed to sweat.
"That's Slade's trump card. That's why Robin is working for him. To protect us." Scar smirked. "But if I know Robin, he's still rebelling against Slade, and it's likely he's been healed and is fighting him now."
"Well that's good and all, but what do we do? We still don't know where they are." Beastboy said. "Way ahead of you." Scar walked to the door, motioning for them to follow.
Scar staggered slightly, and when he almost fell, Blackfire caught him, helping him to keep steady by standing under his arm, taking some of the weight off. "I can follow his scent from the blood Robin had to have been bleeding." Scar said as they walked towards his room.
"But Scar, we can't let you-"
"I've got a plan for that, too." Scar interupted Blackfire's argument. As he walked into his room, he moved from Blackfire, opening his dresser drawer and grabbing one of his shirts. He slid it on, wincing.
"Well you've just got a plan for everything, don't you?" Beastboy asked, smirking lightly. "Damn straight." Scar answered, returning the smirk. "Now what are the words I'm looking for?" He asked himself, walking past the Titans and in front of them, turning to face them.
"Oh right. Titans, Go!"
Slade sat for a moment, holding his mask as Robin jumped into the air, flipping and coming down at Slade with another kick, which Slade caught before throwing Robin into the many gears that moved at random throughout the building.
Robin roared as he flew, spinning and landing on his feet before begining to walk through the dark room, passed the gears and other machanics. He stopped, flinching as steam shot with a groan from a gear before the gear moved.
Slade stood on the gear, letting it place him on the floor. "Good, Robin." He spoke. "You're doing much better than last time." He said as he stepped closer to his forced aprentice.
"A few more years of training, and you might actually pose a threat."
The titans stood on a roof top, stairing at the cloudy night sky. A cloud covered the moon. "Uh... Scar, you sure this is a good idea? I mean... Just last night you-"
"I'm well aware of what happened! But this will be different. The moon wont have the time to finish the transformation before the clouds block it again. Just enough time for my rapid healing to take effect." Scar interupted Beastboy.
"I don't know, Scar..." Blackfire looked down.
Just trust me, alright?" Scar looked to the sky, drawing breath into his lungs. "Cover your ears, this is gonna be loud." As Scar comanded, the others all got down, covering their ears.
There was a pause, before a loud howl rocked the building, and windows began shattering around them. A violent shock wave flew through the sky, and the clouds were tossed aside, revealing the moon. Well, not all of it. Just a portion of its center. But that wall all Scar needed.
Scar's skin began to quite literally crawl, and tufts of fur began to sprout out on his skin. His face began to grow forward into a snout as the wound on his abdomen began to seal, steam coming from the sealing wound.
The clouds slowly began to close once again, and Scar slowly began to shrink back down, the roar that was about to be loosed turning into a human groan as Scar fell to his knees. "Ah..." He smirked, sweating.
"And I'm back."
Robin backed up slowly, turning to see a leaver sticking out behind him. He grabbed it, kicking it off of its place on the ground and spinning it like his bow staff. Slade said nothing as he reached to his side, pulling out a small metal rod, which extended into a staff.
Robin growled, running forward as he threw his bow staff forward, and a metalic clang ran through the air as the two mentals collided. Robin spun, swinging again. A similair clang was heard, and the two struggled to hold the other back, Robin growling as Slade pulled his staff back, throwing it forward and slamming it into Robin's chin, sending him stumbling back into a metal tube on the wall.
Slade made a stabbing move at Robin, who jumped above it, landing on the staff as steam shot from the tube, obscuring Slade's vision as Robin pulled back, smashing his bow staff into Slade's face.
Robin watched the steam for a moment, before Slade shot out from it behind him. Robin gasped, jumping into the air and onto a bend in the tube as Slade karate chopped his own staff in half.
Robin backed up, a pendulum swinging in front of him. When it moved out of the way, Slade stood before him. When it moved away from him again, Slade was gone.
Robin backed up, looking around as he waited for Slade. He gasped, feeling Slade slam into his shoulder and send him flying off the tube onto a giant gear.
Slade roared, jumping above Robin and coming down towards him with his fist pulled back. Robin avoided at the last minute, and Slade's hand slammed into the gear, leaving a small, fist shaped crater.
Slade stood, clenching one hand into a fist as he glared at Robin, who ran forward, jumping and spinning in air as he delivered a kick to Slade's jaw, sending him stubling back. He jumped again, roaring as he slammed his foot into his arch enemy once again, sending him flying back off of the gear and right in front of the screens.
Slade climbed to his feet, a crack running across his mask. "You're going to wish you hadn't done that." Slade threatened as Robin walked from the shadows. "I only wish I'd done it sooner!" Robin growled, grabbing the Slade Symbol on his chest and tearing it off, throwing it into the ground before Slade, where it stuck.
Slade growled, and his growl became a roar as he stood, running at Robin. Slade threw heavy punches, fueled by rage. Each punch was easily evdaded. Slade was getting sloppy.
Robin ducked under a punch, flipping and sending a kick at Slade's face. Slade caught it, however. Slade threw Robin to the side, standing in front of him as Robin climbed to his knees, gasping for breath.
"I have a lot to teach you." Robin climbed to his feet as Slade spoke. "The first thing I need to teach you is gratititude." Robin wipped a bit of blood from his lip, looking to the screens that displayed the nano-bots on each of the titans blood cells.
Robin growled before roaring, running forward and throwing a punch at Slade, who avoided, catching his fist and using it to pull Robin into the ground, slamming him into the ground and pulling his arm behind his head.
"I made you my aprentice." Robin rolled over, holding his shoulder. "All my knowledge, all my power," Slade took hold of the back of Robin's head. "All for you! But all you care about is your worthless! Little! Friends!"
Slade let go of Robin, standing to his feet, as did Robin. "If your friends are so destracting, maybe I should just get ride of them." Slade took hold of the detonator. Robin's growls faded. "Don't... I'll do whatever you say..." Robin looked down.
"And, from now on, I'd like you to call me master." Slade spoke, turning to face Robin. Just after Slade spoke, a green blast slammed into Slade's side, throwing him across the room!
"Aw, come on Captain Halloween!" Robin looked in shock to see Scar standing, each of the titans standing behind him, Starfire's hands glowing. "You know little birds aren't meant for cages!" Scar rested his sword on his shoulder, grinning, his fangs visible.
"Robin, Attack..!" Slade groaned. "Get out of here! Go!" Robin yelled frantically. "You don'r know what those beams did to-"
"Dude, we know." Beastboy interupted. "And we don't care." Cyborg added. "We are your friends Robin, we will not let anything happen to you." Starfire said. "And if anyone is gonna beat you and torture you like that, it's gonna be me." Scar grinned, and Robin couldn't help but smirk.
"I'm afraid Robin doesn't need any friends." Slade said as he walked behind Robin, clicking the button on the detonator. The titans gasped in pain as their bodies glowed, agony running through them.
Scar snarled wildly, falling to one knee. He looked up at Slade, his eyes a fading blue. "I'll... Kill... You..." He attempted to speak.
"Robin! Attack!" Slade said, but Robin didn't hear him. All he saw was Starfire, looking up at him. Her cheeks were wet. She was crying.
"No..." Robin said, turning to the small glowing red mechine that controled the nano-bots. "Robin! No!" Slade reached out to Robin, but it was too late.
Robin sprinted quickly to the machine, jumping into the red light and grabbing the ball. He roared in pain, feeling the nano-bots seep through his skin and onto his blood stream.
He fell to his knees, now glowing orange and white. He climbed to his feet, struggling to walk to Slade. "New deal, Slade," He said, ignoring the waves of pain shooting through him.
"I lose my friends, you lose your aprentice!" Robin struggled to stand. "And I know how you hate to lose." Robin fell to his knees, and Slade stood silent for a moment.
Slade grabbed onto the detonator on his wrist, tearing it off and throwing it to the ground, where it landed in front of Scar. The detonator spewed sparks, and the titans' glowing slowly came to a stop, leaving each of them gasping for breath.
Slade snarled, looking down at Robin, who was recovering. He roared, sending a kick at Robin. But Robin moved, catching the kick and smirking up at Slade. WIth a yell, Robin threw Slade back through the air!
Slade landed on his back, and looked up to see Scar and Robin standing side by side. Scar had the detonator oin his hand. "You're in deep shit, Captain Halloween." Scar smirked, smashing the detonator to bits in his hand and dropping the dust that remained. "And you won't be making another one of those."
"Titans! Go!"
The titans rushed forward as Slade climbed to his feet. Slade turned to run, but was met with a green tiger, who growled, slashing him across the chest and leaving three long, not so deep cuts across his chest.
Slade stumbled, and gasped as he saw a wave of blue sonic energy being hurled towards him. He just barely ducked under it, when two green balls of energy exploded below him, throwing him into the air.
As he flew through the air, his feet were incased in a black ball, holding him in the air. Slade's eye opened, and he saw Blackfire jumping towards him, her eyes glowing purple as she pulled back her fist, roaring and slamming it directly into Slade's chest, sending him hurling towards the ground.
Slade rocketed towards the ground, where he saw Scar standing below him, one hand extended, claws pointed out. He gasped as pain shot through him, Scar's claw piercing into the right side of his chest.
"That's for shooting me, you son of a bitch." Scar growled, throwing Slade back off of his claw and to the ground, near the shadows.
Slade struggled to his feet, coughing and grabbing his stab wound. A roar was heard, and Slade looked up to see robin, coming down at him and smashing a kick into the side of his head.
Slade fell, one side of his mask falling off. His eyes widened, and he grabbed the side of his head, blocking his face from view. He ran to a large machine with red lights, grabbing a handle and turning it. "Another day, Robin! Another day."
Red lights flashed, and Slade escaped into the shadows. Robin looked up, seeing a large gear falling towards him. Just before it hit him, he was shoved aside, and when the falling gear had moved out of the way, he saw Scar's shadowed figure, who lifted him with one hand and threw him towards the exit without a word.
Robin landed before the exit, and opened the door, seeing Cyborg tear the machine that controled the nano-bots from the ground, and seeing Raven carrying Beastboy and Blackfire carrying Scar.
"Come on guys, lets go home."
Beastboy sat in a chair, hooked up to an unbelievable amount of tubes and machines. Beastboy asked something, but it was too muffled by the breather to hear.
"That's it y'all. The titans are officially probe free." Cyborg confirmed. Beastboy yelled with glee, jumping from the chair and doing a dance.
"Um... I know this isn't my style, but... We just kicked Slade's butt. Shouldn't we... Celebrate?" Robin and Cyborg looked at Raven in shock.
"Aw yeah!" Beastboy jumped onto Cyborgs shoulders. "All you can eat!" Cyborg said. "Free form!" Beastboy continued.
"BREAKFAST EXPLOSION!" The two yelled in unison. "Sorry I asked..." Raven grumbled before the two grabbed her, running towards the kitchen.
Scar watched in silence as the 'breakfast explosion' as Cyborg and Beastboy called it, went on. He leaned against the wall, watching everyone eat. For once, he wasn't hungry.
"I figured you would have devored half the food by now." Blackfire said, walking up behind Scar with a smirk. "I'm not hungry..." Scar spoke, and Blackfire looked at him in surprise.
"... It really get's to you, doesn't it?" Blackfire asked after a moment of silence. "What does?" Scar arched a brow at Blackfire. "For once, you got to be enemies with your rival. You had a reason to fight him. Now you don't." Blackfire explained.
"Yeah, I suppose so." Scar answered, before smiling lightly. "But to be honest, I prefer Robin more as a friend than an enemy." Scar smiled over at Blackfire, who was clearly surprised.
"There are less bruises that way."
BOOM!
Okay, that boom was unnecessary. I admit it. But it feels so good to be done with this ark after like three months! So sorry for the really really really really long waits between chapters, but lows on muse and the whole computer virus thing. But luckly I've fixed my computer a bit and we're back in bisnitch! I mean business!
Again, thank you so much for your support through thick and thin. I'd like to give a special thanks to Jade Pulse and Cortexin for their long time support and reviews. And with that, I'm out. See you all next chapter and hopefully in the reviews!
