Chapter 21

Spencer woke up the next day feeling a bit better than the previous day. As she got ready for another long day of school her sister came into her room.
"Hi Mel, do you need something?" Spencer queried curiously.
"I just wanted to make sure you're up for school that's all." Melissa replied smiling at her sister.
Spencer rolls her eyes silently and grabs her things before heading to the kitchen to grab her breakfast.
As Spencer grabs her bagel to put cream cheese on it she hears a knock on the door.
"I'll get it." Melissa says heading towards the door while Spencer eats her breakfast at the dining room table.
"Uh hi Noel, what are you doing here?" Melissa said seeing Noel at the door.
"I just wanted to see if Spencer wanted to go to school with me today, if she didn't have a ride to school." Noel said smiling nicely at Melissa.
"I usually take her but you're more than welcome too." Melissa said letting Noel into the house.
"Thanks Melissa." Noel said.
"What do you really want Noel? I know this isn't a friendly peer visit." Spencer said calling Noel out on his BS.
"What do you mean? I told you that I would like to be friends, that's all." Noel replied shocked at Spencer's serious tone.
"Just because you know my secret doesn't mean I want us to get closer than that." Spencer said.
Melissa looked shocked as Spencer got snappy with Noel.
"Wait you know that Spencer is pregnant?" Melissa asked confused.
"Yeah I do. It wasn't that hard to figure out." Noel replied.
"He knows but like I said having this secret together doesn't make us friends." Spencer said.
"If you would like to go to school my offer still stands." Noel said before stepping out of the house.
"Come on Spencer, he came all the way here just to offer you a ride to school. Let him." Melissa said scolding her sister.
"Fine I'll go tell him the good news." Spencer replied going outside to tell Noel she'll accept his ride to school.
"I'm sorry Noel for snapping at you. It's just I don't know who I can trust with this secret. My friends already know and no one else in school does besides you. I just don't want anyone knowing yet." Spencer said closing the door behind her.
"It's okay I figured it's just you on your crazy hormonal cycle anyways." Noel said teasing Spencer.
"If you want to still take me to school you can." Spencer said.
"Great I wasn't going to leave without doing that anyways." Noel smirked. "Go get your stuff so we can go." He added.
Spencer quickly went back inside to grab her backpack and her breakfast on the table, she quickly grabbed some coffee to go as well.
Saying goodbye to her sister she left the house with Noel in tow in his car.
"So can I really ask why you came over? And why you even bothered to walk me home last night?" Spencer asked curiously.
"I told you I was just keeping an eye out for you since you were alone. I swear I'm not trying to hit on you. I know you're taken by Toby anyway. No sense in breaking that up." Noel said driving his Camaro down the streets of Rosewood to Rosewood High School.
"Just because me and Toby are having a baby together doesn't mean we're happy. If anything he hates the idea of a baby in the picture." Spencer said sighing, tired of keeping silent on the whole baby issue.
"Why? I mean if it was my baby I'd be thrilled." Noel replied feeling bad for Spencer.
"I don't know but I guess he hates babies, he wanted me to abort it." Spencer said looking out the window of the car not directly looking Noel in the eye.
"Wow. Sorry to hear that." Noel replied his eyes on the road.
"Things are just complicated and I don't know how to make things not complicated." Spencer said.
"If Toby doesn't change his tune, he's an idiot. Any guy would be lucky to have a baby with you." Noel said to console Spencer.
"Thanks Noel. That's really nice of you to say." Spencer replied smiling at Noel.
"Well we're here. So I guess this is where we part. I'll spare you the embarrassment of having to explain to your friends why I brought you to school." Noel said grabbing his backpack before heading to his locker.
"Why the hell are you talking to Noel for?" Hanna asked strutting down the hallway with attitude.
"He was nice enough to bring me to school. No need to be catty Hanna." Spencer explained.
"Sorry I just don't trust a guy with a face that pretty. That's all." Hanna said giving Noel a weird look to shoo him away from her best friend.
"No offense taken, I gotta go talk to Sean. See you girls later." Noel replied winking at Hanna.
"Why did he give you a ride to school? I mean Noel doesn't just hang out with people like us. He's up to something." Hanna said giving Spencer a look.
"He keeps telling me that he just wants to be a friend. But I don't know if we can trust him or not. Plus he kinda already knows about the baby." Spencer whispered to Hanna before Aria and Emily came over to them.
"What who else knows about this besides us?" Aria asked shocked.
"Noel, but he said he wouldn't tell anyone. I'm not sure if he's on our side or not." Spencer replied sighing.
"How the hell did he figure out your secret? It's not like your blabbing it to the whole wide world." Emily asked annoyed.
"I don't know you guys. But let's not continue asking questions if he's silent, then that means he's keeping true to his word of being a friend." Spencer replied rolling her eyes.
