The Unspeakable Bunny Incident

1867.

Mystic Falls.

"Damon what are you doing?!" Cali cried out as she watched her elder brother Damon marched ahead, his jaw clenched and determination in his eyes.

"I'm going to catch... and murder... a Rabbit!" He growled as he jogged down the steps, not even glancing towards Cali. "If it's the last thing I do!"

Cali's eye twitched, Damon had arrived back in Mystic Falls to visit them after finding out from Lexi that Calianne and Stefan had regained their senses and where now thriving as much as they could as a Vampire.

He had shown up, standing at the door of the Salvatore Mansion, black hair the same length as before, with a smirk and blue eyes twinkling madly. His clothing style had not changed as he wore the same upper class garb as before. Only in a different style and color, although he did keep the blue.

She suspected it was to make him stand out more, while also being unnoticeable.

His personalty on the other hand was the same as before, a little jaded perhaps. But he was still the nice, caring older brother who had helped her stand whenever she fell. His attitude towards Stefan on the other hand had decreased radically. And all three knew the reason behind his sharp remarks and bitter tone.

But they placed it aside, all three wanted to make it work as much as they could.

It was between a discussion they had while sitting in the dining room, that Damon asked of their diet. Lexi having told him of how Stefan had started to drink Animal Blood while Cali tired. Unsuccessfully at that, she never seemed able to keep it down.

She believed it was the taste. Animal Blood wasn't as sweet as Human Blood and gave off a tangy bitter taste. Although the smell covered it up and made it looked delicious.

They had agreed to show him how to hunt only for Damon to laugh at them, his eyes giving her concerned looks as she coughed out the Animal Blood she fed on. Stefan had smiled is usual - I-know-something-you-don't - smile and challenged Damon to find, kill and drink a rabbit but he only had until the end of the day.

The eldest of the Siblings had taken to it like a duck out of water. Eyes darting around and trying to hunt but unsuccessfully. His technique was good, but Damon made to much noise, he wasn't used to tricking and deceiving the smaller but more acute in hearing creatures. His Hunting style more suited for Humans who wouldn't notice or make themselves believe they were imagining it then the woodland creatures who both the younger Salvatore's hunted.

But he wasn't intimidated or had given up. No. He had tried even more to succeed in his quest, even climbing a tree so he could see more, only he fell off of it a few seconds later.

After the tree he had decided to give it a break. One that lasted a hour at the most and now he was out searching for a rabbit again. That had been two hours ago, he hadn't been back since. Even Stefan - who had started to get slightly annoyed at the time it was taking for Damon to complete the challenge - was worried.

"Do you think he's hurt?" She asked, voice filled with her worry.

Stefan shook his head as he ran a hand through his brown hair, "he's probably alrigh-"

Stefan was cut off by a loud bang from the front porch, making both him and Cali turn in perfect sync. Slowing they walked over to the front door, each step quiet and filled with caution. They didn't know who or what it was, it could be a hunter for all they knew.

With a slight tilt of his head, Stefan indicated for Cali to remain hidden so that he could open the door and if anything happened she would be able to help.

When he did open the door, what he revealed wasn't anything they expected.

It was Damon.

Only... he was dripping wet, shivering and had leaves and twigs all over both him and his clothes. "Damon!" Cali cried as she ran towards him and wrapped her arms around his shoulders, "what happened!?"

Damon didn't speak for a few minutes, he only stared ahead, almost through Stefan making the male twin even more nervous. But when he finally did speak it was a whimper. "Don't make me go back there."

Both the twins shared a worried glance. "Don't make me go back. I don't want to be... violated in such a way again!" He was all but wailing as he rocked backwards and forwards in his sister's arms. "I never want to see a Rabbit again!"

Over a hundred years later Damon still hadn't revealed what transpired that day, but it was notable that he had leporiphobia ever since.

It was also never mentioned again.

And that's what happened... yep. Damon's secret is that he has leporiphobia (Fear of Bunnies/Rabbits.)

And they didn't actually violate him, that's just how Damon sees it.

So what do you think?
