"It's been a while since we've met like this Ryouta." Haizaki simpers, a foax smile stretched across her face, her dagger like silver orbs boring inter her golden orbs. "Since you quit, yes it has been Shogo." The tension thickening around the two girls as the glared at one another, both their teammates recoiled at the tension that radiated from them. Kasamatsu has never seen Kise look so hostile before, the way Haizaki raked her eyes over his teammate like she was devising the best way to take her down sent a chill down his spine.

It was obvious that this went beyond basketball.

"Ladies break it up; I want a clean game alright?" The referee reprimanded when he finally noticed that the two were nearly face to face. The two nodded rigidly and backed off to their team's side of the court, getting into position for the tip off.

.~.

Haizaki looks directly at Kaijo and smirks sharply, "Why the surprised faces? Of course I'm better than her, I've always been." Her gaze sweeps back to Kise, on her knees, sweating pouring down her disbelieving face.

They watch in disbelief as Kise was pushed back by Haizaki; it starts to sink in that Kise
Ryouta of the Generation of Miracles is losing to someone that isn't one of her own. Only a select few know that Haizaki was once one of them, a genius first year that Kise could never match. In the stands Kuroko watches with determined clenched hands and Aomine watches with attentive disinterest, Kise won't lose.

.~.

Kise flinches and Kuroko decides that she can't just sit and watch anymore.

She stands abruptly, takes a deep breath.

"I believe in you Kise-san!"

Exhausted gold and determined blue lock and Kise feels like she's in middle school again. Watching Kuroko seamless play with Aomine, reining in Murasakibara and Midorima when they get into one of their fights. Amazing, controlled, and unwavering belief in them.

"Kurokocchi." She utters under her breath, her lips upturning into a smile, she gets up.

"Shogo let me tell you something before I win; don't get carried away just because you managed to pull one guy out of the flock from me." The situations changed, Kise is standing tall and strong and Haizaki is now the one staring in astonishment. The blond flies by her with Daiki's speed, makes shoots with Shintaro's accuracy and deflects anything Haizaki does with Atsushi's response and defense.

Ryouta smirks at her and Kaijou rallies behind her.

Haizaki clenches her teeth in frustration and remembers Akashi.

'You won't beat Kise, in the future, she'll replace you.'

As much as she loathes admitting it, Akashi was right. Ryouta is strong. There's only one thing she can do now.

She resolutely slams her foot with all her strength into Ryouta's injured foot.

"If you're looking for Kaijou, they won't be out for a while." Aomine calls out; Haizaki looks at her in slight surprise. "Whatever you're planning to do forget about it and go home. Don't get in the way of Kise and Tetsu's match." She warns finally, her eyes narrowing when Haizaki snorts at her.

"Idiot, as if I care. If you wanna stop me you gotta use force!" Haizaki lunged forward; fist raised-Daiki's indigo orbs shimmer before ramming her own fist into the silverette's jaw. Haizaki crumbles to the ground and Aomine turns and walks away, confidant that she'll have a cool head when she gets up.

~.~

At the end of the night, despite her misgivings, Haizaki can't let go of her shoes.

She swings them beside her; she'll deal with things as they come.

Haizaki won't give this up again.

The bus was silent as it hummed down the dark Tokyo streets, none of the teenagers on board bothering to make small talk. Wakamatsu wasn't yelling about their victory, Sakurai wasn't nervously twitching and apologizing to his seat mate for annoying him, Imayoshi wasn't giving them his devious, patient smile and Susa wasn't sighing in exasperation at their actions. Aomine hadn't said a word since they boarded the bus and silently took a seat the back away from their teammates, except that this time Momoi followed his friend and sat next to her.

He wasn't expecting Dai-chan to talk about their upcoming shopping trip, not until later. He didn't blame her; everyone was still reeling over their very (not even half an hour ago) recent loss to Seirin. If the loss was unexpected by the rest of Touou, then it must have been absolutely jarring to Aomine, it was jarring for him too, to watch Aomine of all people lose.

Even if their teammates were in disbelief that their ace lost, they still wouldn't understand the implications. Aomine hadn't lost a match in years and she had just lost and his friend must be feeling terrible and elated at the same time. There was no doubting the smile that sprouted on Dai-chan's face during her showdown with Kagami, she'd played her absolute hardest.

The small shift of the body next to him alerted Momoi to what he knew was coming.

Aomine slumped heavily against him and rested her head on his broad shoulders, slight trembles wracking her body, her hands clenched tightly on her sweat pants. "Next time Dai-chan." He whispered into her ear, maneuvering his green sweater around her exhausted shoulders, pulling the hood over her head.

"The hell are you looking at bitch? Move it." Kuroko didn't flinch at the harsh tone of Hanamiya Makoto as he shoved passed her and headed back to his team's locker rooms until the second half of the Seirin vs. Kirisaki Daichi game. She could practically feel the heated glares coming from her teammates, "Bastard." Kagami growled lowly, his warm presence pressing behind her gently.

"Ignore him," Kuroko says, nudging the red head in the direction of their team, where Mitobe and Riko were carefully supporting Kiyoshi to the locker room.

He scowled and Izuki patted his shoulder sympathetically before moving back over to a fuming Hyuga.

Kagami's scowl darkened as he took in the numerous bruises marring his sempai's skin, Furihata and the others went around getting everyone ice packs and honey soaked lemons. Kiyoshi by far had the most injuries while everyone else managed to get away with a few bruises, thankfully, Kuroko had managed to get away unscathed.

So far anyway. He hadn't liked the way Hanamiya's eyes glinted darkly at the small blunette and the dark look made something angry bubble in his chest.

"How could someone play so horribly?"

He looked over to tha small girl on the bench and paused.

Kuroko's face was blank as ever, maybe the smallest hint of a frown, but her light blues was another story. Her eyes were positively livid and brimming with a white hot rage that Kagami felt a shiver go down his spine.

It was the most emotion he's seen on her and as the saying went; Hell hath no fury like a woman's scorn.

Kuroko was going to make Hanamiya regret this match.

~.~

Hanamiya paused and looked at the face in the reflection of the mirror.

"This is the men's bathroom, are you lost?" His voice thick with sarcasm.

Aomine blinked lazily, "You're gonna lose."

Hanamiya snorted and glared up at the dark skinned girl, "Really? I don't see how, enlighten me."

She smirked and his eyes narrowed at the response.

"You made her mad. That's why."

"You-"

"Ah there you are Aomine! You know this is the men's bathroom and you shouldn't use it to meet strange men." Imayoshi said, smiling at the sight of both teens.

Aomine spun around, "Creep did you follow me?"

Imayoshi pouted, "It's not nice to call people unflattering names and of course I followed you, how else would I have known if you made it safely to your destination? And hello to you too Hanamiya, It's been a while."

The latter scowled, "Not long enough and I'm out of here." He was unwilling to spend an extended time near Imayoshi Shoichi, which was just asking for trouble. "I've got a game to win."

He ignored the silent snickers from the Touou players as he shrugged past them.

~.~

"Kuroko!" Hyuga warned suddenly and Kagami barely caught the motion of Hanamiya bring his elbow down to crash against Kuroko's head. His blood froze because while she was a gifted player Kuroko wasn't fast and she was going to get hit and if she got injured because of that bastard Kagami was going to-

Hanamiya missed. Kuroko took one graceful step back away from him and his elbow was met with empty space.

Kuroko locked her eyes with his.

We'll beat them in basketball.

"I hate basketball." She once said flatly, and looks at Himuro as if he should know this by now, it's not the first time he's heard Murasakibara proclaim her hate for the very thing she plays. She states it with finality that it's hard not to believe her, hard not to hear the open boredom and disdain in her voice. And at first, Himuro did believe her.

But actions spoke louder than words.

Out of a combination of curiosity and wanting to scope out Yosen's competition, he decided to stay at the club room after practice. He scoured through boxes of DVDs until he finally found videos of Teiko matches, more specifically, matches that were Atsushi oriented. He plops the first DVD in the player and plops down on a chair, presses play.

He's amazed.

Even when she was just 14 years old, her reach is extensive and all encompassing. Himuro notes that she actually plays; Murasakibara moves with her team the same way a flock of birds goes into formation. But what truly stick out are her eyes.

They're sharp and boiling with an intensity that makes his heart still in awe. Atsushi has never looked so alive and deliciously in love with what she was doing; playing basketball.

Even though the screen shows Aomine's formless shots and Midorima's three pointers that are impressive on their own, as far as Himuro's concerned, it's nothing compared to the dunks Murasakibara does. Wild, strong and beautiful.

He watches several more videos of Teiko games and he observes with fierce attention. And he learned two things; one, that since her first game in Teiko as a first year, she had grown into a lovely teenage girl. Two, that Atsushi didn't actually hate basketball. She may have grown disinterested in the sport, but it wasn't hate.

Murasakibara, more than anything, looked frustrated.

Frustrated with the lack of formidable opponents.

Frustrated with the boredom.

Frustrated with herself because now basketball had become something tiresome and unenjoyable.

There was no way Murasakibara Atsushi hated basketball.

~.~

"Muro-chin, you're staring." She said dispassionately, she'd long since given up on trying to dissuade the raven haired teen from his weird returnee habits. He gave her a, what he thought, charming smile, "Forgive me, your face is just too cute to not look."

She wished her face didn't heat up while she sent him a warning glare.

"See? That's the one." He continued.

"Shut up," Murasakibara mumbled, "I'll crush you."

"Hey Reo-nee doesn't Akashi seem I dunno happier lately?" Hayama questions, balancing the basketball on his head. "The other day she was smiling a lot and even ended practice an hour early. Wonder why?"

"Maybe she got herself a boyfriend hahaha!" Nebuya laughs, "Maybe she's with the guy right now!" Hayama adds.

Mibuchi swatted them with his towel, "Don't be stupid, Sei-chan wouldn't waste her time with a boy outside of basketball."

"What if the guys' a basketball player?" Nebuya challenged.

"…"

Hayama patted Mibuchi's shoulder, "Hahaha! It's okay Reo-nii, there's no way Akashi is meeting with some guy!"

"Except she was interested in that Seirin player." Mayuzumi commented from the bench, not bothering to look up from his novel. Fighting a small smirk at the scandalized look Mibuchi was sprouting.

"…I forgot about that little guy, what was his name again?" Nebuya wondered.

"Furihata Kouki." Mayuzumi offered.

Nebuya snapped his fingers, "Hey when did she leave for the train station?"

"About 20 minutes ago, why?" Mibuchi answered hesitantly, already having an idea where this conversation was going.

"Great let's follow her and see who's she meeting with!"

Hayama pumped his fist in the air, "Yes! That's genius! Let's go before she meets the guy!"

"…You guys are seriously going to stalk Akashi."

"We're going to stalk her, as in all of us." Hayama replied grinning, Mibuchi huffed in resignation; someone responsible would have to go to keep the idiots in line. Nebuya laughed his agreement and Mayuzumi's eye twitched minutely.

"I'm not helping you stalk Akashi." He replied plainly.

Hayama pouted, "C'mon! Aren't you the tinniest bit curious why Akashi ended practice early? Why she's been in a good mood?"

"No."

"Think of this as a chance to take a break from studying! It'll be fun."

"…Alright fine, I'll go along." And should Akashi figure out that she's being followed by her teammates then he'll simply slip into the shadows and leave his juniors to their doom.

~.~

"Sorry Akashi, did you wait long?"

"No, I've just arrived too. How is Seirin doing?"

"Ah we're doing good, Coach is really happy because the schools giving us a bigger budget for next year."

"It's to be expected."

_._

"I knew it! Akashi's meeting up with a guy!" Hayama whispered, "Told you Reo-nee!"

"And it's that Furi guy too!" Nebuya added watching the brunette (weak looking guy) pull out Akashi's seat for her before taking a seat himself at an outside table in front of a café. Mibuchi wringed his t-shirt, "N-no way Sei-chan…!" Mayuzumi only blinked at the sight, "Surprising I guess."

"How long have they been meeting? When did they even meet outside of Winter Cup? Do you think they're dating?" Mibuchi whispered. "Look they're holding hands!"

"You're overreacting, Akashi was just grabbing a napkin." The shadow assured, pinching the bridge of his nose. Why did he come again? Really, as if Akashi and that guy could actually be on a date-

"He's touching her face…!" This time Nebuya called out, ignoring the furious shushing of his teammates. And sure enough, they watched as the brunette boy casually placed his hand on her cheek.

_._

"...I'm actually going to ride with Yukimura later, would you like to meet him?"

Furihata swallowed his bite of lemon cake, "Sure, I've never actually seen a horse up close before so it'll be something new." Akashi nodded and delicately sipped her tea, it was then that Furihata noticed the small broken piece of a leaf in her soft looking, red locks.

Without thinking he reached over with his hand, and carefully threaded his fingers through the silk like strands until all the pieces of the browned leaf where in his hands. Akashi had remained still and quite, watching his movements like a hawk. Furihata wasn't so sure if that was good or bad.

"S-sorry there was a leaf in your hair…" He finally said opening his palm, showing the red head the crumbled brown pieces.

"You could have just told me you know." She said, eyes twinkling with something.

The brunette felt his face heat up at the words, "…I didn't think about that."

Akashi's lips tilted up into an amused smile, "I was joking, I didn't mind."

"Oh…good. You had me going there…"

_._

All four teens stared at the scene in disbelief.

"Wow…just wow." Hayama finally said.

"Hahaha! I bet I can bench press that guy!" Nebuya laughed, once again ignoring the shushing of his teammates.

"They're dating. I knew it, oh Sei-chan you could have at least told me!" Mibuchi said mournfully.

Mayuzumi's eye twitched, "For the last time they're not dating. He was literally just pulling something from her hair." He scowled as he noticed that none of the Uncrowned Kings were listening to him.

"Nothing's going on, so I'm just gonna leave." The third year decided.

Neither of the four noticed the sharp gaze of their captain.

Man this one was long!

Until next time dear readers!
