Prue's P.O.V.

"Can you remind me on how this is going to work again?" I asked. We were currently behind the school, it was almost dark and the night chill started to settle in. I shivered; I should've brought a coat. Trash littered the ground in front of us and the air smelled of garbage. I frowned and turned my gaze back to Patricia.

"You said David always leaves the school late."

"No, I said that he's always hanging around it, I never said he left late."

"Close enough, right?"

"No! If I'm freezing my ass off it better be for a reason and not 'close enough'."

"Fine," Patricia huffed.

"We have ten minutes to wait. Otherwise, I'll get hypothermia."

"Oh stop being so dramatic!" she said with a roll of her eyes.

"Dramatic? I have goose bumps!" I complained.

"Oh God forbid she might catch a cold!" Patricia shot back.

"Oh, will the two of you just shut up?" Piper snapped. "You're so annoying!"

"Hey!" Patricia and I said and suddenly I froze as I heard a branch snap.

"Did you hear that?" Phoebe hissed and Piper covered her mouth with her hand as I threw her a deadly glare.

"You're supposed to be in the car," I growled and she shrugged.

"I got bored," she said honestly. "And besides, I always miss the exciting parts."

"Phoebe you're an idiot," Patricia snapped and I hushed her, hearing the footsteps coming near us.

"Move," I hissed. They obediently moved backwards and hid between the dumpster and the giant recycling bin. The shadow of someone leered into view and I tried to find somewhere to hide but realized that there was nowhere to go. In desperation I ran towards the door that opened from the cafeteria and pulled it. The door opened easily and I stumbled but caught myself at the last second. Pulling myself upright I closed the door and leaned my back against it, breathing heavily.

Why was the door open? I thought. Nobody was supposed to be here. But then again, we weren't supposed to be here either.

Suddenly, without warning someone knocked on the door. I jumped and started to turn away when I heard it again.

Knock knock…knock knock knock knock….Knock knock knock.

Two knocks, then four, then three. Piper and I used that as a code when we were smaller, I knew it was her. I slowly advanced towards the door and threw it open.

"Come on, he left a while ago," Piper said, pulling me with her.

"What direction?"

"Over here." I saw the person in front of me. Once again they were wearing all black and they walked swiftly, almost making it impossible to be seen or heard.

"Where's Phoebe?"

"Right here," Phoebe said. I turned my head and saw Patricia giving her a piggyback ride.

"Really?" I hissed.

"You're just jealous because you can't get one," Phoebe said and stuck her tongue out at me.

"Guys wait," Piper said and stopped in her tracks. I bumped into her and Patricia bumped into me, dropping Phoebe in the process. She yelped in surprise and the empty woods echoed her sound. The hooded figure turned around to look at us and suddenly started running. I groaned inwardly, it was had enough for us to see him in the dark but now it was going to be nearly impossible. I bolted after him although I wasn't nearly as smooth. Branches snapped at my every step and I could barely see where I was going. All of a sudden without warning he just disappeared. No footsteps, nothing. I stopped running and waiting until my sisters caught up to me.

"We lost him!" I snapped in frustration.

"Gee they run fast," Patricia said, her hands on her knees as she struggled to catch her breath. "I need to work out more."

"No kidding, you couldn't even give me a proper piggyback ride!" Phoebe huffed, crossing her arms.

"You were too lazy to walk on your own feet!" Patricia shot back.

"HEY!" Piper shouted, cutting them off.

"Do you hear that?" I asked.

"Hear what? I don't hear anything."

"Exactly." There was not a sound, no crickets, no birds, nothing.

"This is getting creepy," Phoebe said, looking around suspiciously.

"Yeah, maybe we should-" Patricia started but stopped as I put a hand over her mouth.

"Look," I whispered, pointing in front of us. There was a pathway that led up to a somewhat large house, cleverly hidden by the woods.

"Wait, you're not actually planning to go inside there, are you?," Piper asked, her brown eyes scanning the house.

"Come on Piper don't chicken out on me," I complained and Piper pouted.

"I'm not chickening out!" she protested. "I'm just-"

"Chickening out," I finished.

"I think Piper's right, we should leave," Phoebe said nervously, jumping as she stepped on a branch. Patricia and I shared a look and she only shrugged.

"Fine, Patricia and I will go inside because we're the only ones BRAVE enough to do it," I said with a roll of my eyes.

"Have fun," Piper replied, waving us off.

Patricia's P.O.V.

"This is so creepy," I commented, running my hand along a side of the house. It looked unkept, as if it was abandoned for a long time.

It probably was, I thought with a shudder.

The wall was covered in vines, so much that the wall itself couldn't be seen. I continued walking until I saw an open window. Silently, I motioned Prue over and showed her.

"Can't we go through the front door?" she asked.

"It's boarded up," I replied.

"Then why was the window open?"

"I don't know!"

"I don't want to go through that way," she whined and I narrowed my eyes at her.

"Too bad," I replied simply. "You're going to have to boost me up." Prue frowned but obediently got on one knee and held out her hands.

"Ow! Ow! Easy!" she snapped. I clumsily grabbed on to the windowpane and attempted to get inside. My hand swatted at the large spider web that had formed. Dust floated thickly in the air and I tried not to cough. Finally, I climbed into the room and dusted myself off while Prue attempted to climb in after me.

"A little help!" she said. Grabbing her arms, I tried pulling her in. Finally, after a few moments she collapsed on the ground.

"That," she breathed. "was a struggle."

"Yeah it was," I agreed, helping up. "So what are we looking for? Wepons? Bodies?"

"Not funny," Prue said seriously. "We need to look for clues and I'm almost positive that it's somewhere in this house."

"I feel like Nancy Drew," I said with a giggle. Prue rolled her eyes and pressed her ear against the door.

"I don't hear anything," she said and slowly pulled the door open.

"Are you sure that someone came in here?" I asked doubtfully.

"I can't say I'm 100 percent sure," she admitted. "But we should look around anyways."

"We should probably split up. I'll go downstairs, you check all the rooms here." I climbed down the stairs carefully, trying not to touch anything. The stairs groaned underneath my weight and I froze as I heard footsteps. Taking a deep breath, I dismissed it as my nerves acting up and reached the ground floor. After pulling open all the doors and looking inside, I came up with nothing. With a sigh, I went back upstairs.

"Did you find anything?" Prue asked immediately.

"No," I said with a frown. "Did you?"

She held up a brown leather briefcase.

"I found it underneath the floorboards," she said.

"Unbelievable!"

"What?"

"I literally spent the past twenty minutes searching the house and you get to find the cool stuff!" Prue gave me a look before laughing.

"Fine, I'll give you the honors of opening it," she said, handing it to me. I rested it on the ground and attempted to open it.

"It's locked," she said in amusement after a few minutes of me attempting to crack the case open.

"I knew that," I pointed out a if it should've been obvious.

"Here, try this." Prue handed me a hair pin.

"What do you think is in it?" I asked as I fiddled with the lock.

"I don't know but I remember Andy saying something about some files gone missing. Maybe-" Prue was cut off as suddenly there was a loud crash from downstairs. I jumped in surprise and Prue froze. Footsteps were heard and they became louder and louder until they were right outside the door. Creeping towards the door, I locked it right as someone attempted to open it. Prue practically threw the case out the open window and started to climb back out. Fixing the floorboards back to its original state, I ran for the window and climbed outside as the door opened with a loud bang. As soon as my feet hit the ground, I started running blindly, not knowing where I was going. Suddenly, I crashed into someone and fell to the ground. Scrambling to my feet, I started running the other way when the person grabbed me by the hair and roughly pushed me to the ground.

"What are you doing here?" a deep voice asked. I struggled to escape his grasp but failed.

"I got lost," I squeaked, trying to keep calm.

"You got lost?" he asked mockingly. I nodded quickly in response.

"Don't lie to me," he threatened, tightening his grip on me. I whimpered in pain and stomped on his foot. Yelping in pain, he let me go and I started to run again but he was faster.

He grabbed me from behind and lifted me off the ground. Screaming in fear and pain, I attempted to kick him but failed to do so.

"You know what I do to trespassers?" he asked tauntingly.

"Let me go!" I screeched.

"You're not going anywhere," he said darkly. Suddenly, without warning a dark figure emerged from a tree and attacked the man. With a surprised yelp, the man let go of me and I immediately started running, faster than I had ever ran in my entire life. I ignored my aching legs and continued to sprint until I crashed into someone else.

"No!" I cried, pushing them away.

"Patricia its me," Piper said, holding me steady.

"Piper?"

She nodded and I hugged her, immediately bursting into tears.

"It's okay," she said softly, although it was clear that she was puzzled as to why I was upset. She rubbed my back until I calmed down.

"Where's Prue?" she asked. I looked at her in alarm when realizing that I had no idea what had happened to my older sister.

Prue's P.O.V.

I limped through the woods, carefully trying to keep silent. I winced in time every time I put weight on my feet; I had landed wrong when jumping out of the window and now I was positive that I had twisted my foot or something. I looked down at the briefcase in my hand and held it close to my chest. Something was in here, something important. Maybe it would finally answer all my questions. Maybe it would crack the case wide open. We could finally live in peace without having to look over our shoulders every few seconds.

Just then the sound of heavy footsteps echoed through the woods and I turned around again but found nobody there. As I turned around again, I found a tall figure quickly advancing towards me. I backed up a couple of steps before breaking into a run. The man sprinted after me and I screamed as I realized that he was much faster. After a few seconds I changed directions just as he tried to grab me. I took a deep breath and said a silent prayer before swinging the heavy briefcase in the air. It connected with the man's face and he collapsed on the ground with a thump. Terrified, I ran a hand through my hair and started to run when I realized that he wasn't moving. Picking up a stick, I slowly inched towards him until I was a couple of feet away and poked his back. Nothing. I poked him again and moved in closer and nudged him with my sneaker.

"Please don't let him be dead," I said softly. It was a briefcase, it couldn't do THAT much damage! Suddenly, without warning he grabbed my leg. I screamed and attempted to get away but he was too strong.

"Give me the briefcase," he growled. His nose was bleeding heavily and he had a small cut above his forehead but I still didn't recognize him.

"Let go of me," I said, struggling to keep my voice calm.

"I'm warning you, if you want this to end, you will give me the briefcase." The way he said it gave me the chills. His eyes bored into mine and I felt myself starting to panic.

"I said, let go of me!" I screamed, kicking him in the face with my other foot.

He lost his hold on me and I sprinted away, the briefcase still held tightly in my hand. I continued to run until my foot screamed in pain and exhaustion and I knew that there was no way he could catch me.

Leaning against the tree, I closed my eyes and breathed heavily, hoping that nobody would find me. After a few moments, I regained my composure and looked around me.

The woods were clear, there was nobody around as far as I could tell.

Snap.

So much for that assumption.

I whirled around, my breath caught in my throat. My eyes scanned around me but I couldn't see anything.

Snap.

Patricia had wanted to use a flashlight but I warned her that it would do more harm than good.

Now I wish I had listened to her.

SNAP.

I heard the shuffling of footsteps but this time, I knew they were running. I froze in fear before realizing that the sound stopped. I started to breathe a sigh of relief when I heard a loud sigh right behind me. Before I could react, a hand clamped over my mouth, muffling my scream.

A.N) I can't believe it's nearly been two months since I've updated!

*yikes*

So what do you think happened to Prue? What's in the briefcase? Thanks for reading and don't forget to review :)
