In the circle of Gluttony, within the lowest level of the realm, a grand battle was taking place. The battle consisted of Vergil fighting against the Lord of the Flies, Beelzebub. A large explosion of dust ignited on the top of a plateau, which quickly cleared away by another shock wave. It showed Vergil's sword clashing against Beelzebub's claws. The demon lord had one hand pressed against Vergil's blade, while the Dark Slayer held it tightly with one hand, and holding his scabbard with the other. He slashed with his free hand, prompting Vergil to duck, then parried the second claw swipe, and jumped back from the third claw slash that smashed the ground. He charged forward and slashed overhead, only for Beelzebub to bring up his forearm and block the attack and countered with an uppercut, but Vergil evaded by back flipping and quickly rolled out of the way from another attack when Beelzebub smashed his hand against the ground where Vergil once stood, creating a small crater.

Vergil came to a stop and quickly waved Yamato, unleashing a crescent blue wave of energy at the demon lord, whom simply bat it away with his gauntlet, causing it to dissipate. He countered by unleashing a stream of thin needle-like energy beams from his compound eyes. Vergil sprinted to the side as the energy beams created strong explosions upon impact while Beelzebub followed the Dark Slayer with his gaze. Vergil skidded to a stop and vanished instantly, before appearing beside Beelzebub, and swung his sword once with a shout. The blade met its mark as the collision created a strong wave of kinetic energy to erupt to the side and large amounts of dust to collect. When it cleared, it showed Beelzebub, once again, blocking the blade with his forearm and Vergil to suck his teeth.

The demon performed an uppercut at Vergil, knocking him the air, before quickly grabbing his leg with his other hand and smashed him down against the ground with fierce force, enough for him to bounce once off the ground and crash a few feet away from Beelzebub with a pained grunt. The Lord of the Flies laughed at this, "Come now, Vergil! You can do better then that!" He said, holding his arms out to the side slightly. Vergil wiped the corner of his mouth, before slowly standing up and brushing his coat, then sheathed Yamato as he glared towards Beelzebub, whom was smirking. "Alright Beelzebub. Let's try that again." he said, as he rolled his shoulders before cracking his neck.

Beelzebub licked his lips crudely as his fingers twitched. "Hmph. Come on then." Neither of the two demons moved an inch, simply staring down one another. When suddenly they both vanished in a burst of powerful speed, leaving behind cracks on the ground and a cloud of dust to ignite. A second later, the two collided, creating a shock wave and some slabs of the ground to upheave. Vergil was slashing and hacking his blade with lightning fast speed as Beelzebub countered by performing rapid punching with the same pace, parrying his attacks with his armored insectoid gauntlets. Each attack created a rapid barrage of sparks and metallic cling sounds. After a moment, Beelzebub attempted to punch Vergil in the gut, only for the Dark Slayer to leap and front flip above in evasion, quickly doing an ax kick on the Lord of the Flies' head, stunning him briefly.

Followed by a spinning kick, front flipping again and slashes down with Yamato cutting his chest, then slashes horizontally once then vertically twice against his torso, but Beelzebub countered by grabbing the final slash in his hand and kicked Vergil causing him to skid back a few feet against the ground before stopping. Vergil quickly formed his Summoned Swords, all aimed at Beelzebub's direction before they all darted towards him with Vergil sprinting forward behind them. Beelzebub's wounds had already healed as he too sprinted forward, when he suddenly dispersed into a cloud of flies, phasing through the spectral blades, and quickly reforming as he attacked with an overhead punch only for Vergil to dash to the side in evasion as Beelzebub's fist dove through the ground. Vergil attempted to quickly attack only for his sword to clash against one of Beelzebub's wings, blocking it and for Vergil widen his eyes with a gasp.

Beelzebub then punched Vergil in the stomach, followed by another punch overhead sending him to the ground, before kicking him up, grabbing his leg, and smashing him down against the ground causing him to bounce once, then for Beelzebub to kick him with a straight sending him rolling and bouncing slightly before stopping. Vergil grit his teeth when immediately rolled out of the way seeing that Beelzebub appeared above him, and smashed his fist against the ground creating another large crater. Vergil then formed Beowulf, and turned with a strong jab as the clawed gauntlet collided against Beelzebub's own fist, creating a flash of light and a shock wave to erupt around them. The Dark Slayer wasted no time, as he continued with an overhead punch with his free fist, but only for Beelzebub to counter by colliding it with an opposite attack; an uppercut. The attack was followed by both of their legs raising high up in a roundhouse, only for their legs to collide once again, they spun and punched each other's fists again.

They repeated this pattern as they collided fists and kicks with rapid speed, creating a series of shock explosions with flashes of light from the Beowulf gauntlets and grieves. After a moment, their fists collided a final time, creating a large explosion of light and kinetic energy. They pushed against each other's strength, although Vergil would not admit it, but Beelzebub was somehow far stronger then he originally anticipated and he found himself buckling against his opponent's massive strength. Their fists both slipped off, as they skidded forward briefly from the force they were exerting. Dissipating Beowulf, he whipped out Yamato in a flash, slashing horizontally as he turned only for Beelzebub to phase through it by dispersing into a cloud of flies. However, the cloud suddenly grabbed Vergil by the forearm causing him to widen his eyes with shock, as the cloud took the form of Beelzebub's shape and nothing more. He heard laughing behind him, and noticed the Lord of the Flies standing behind him with a sinister toothy grin.

He left a duplicate behind in time during his evasion of the sword strike. The duplicate, which was a plethora of flies, punched Vergil in the chest sending him flying towards Beelzebub whom then punched the Dark Slayer in the face, causing him to once again fly towards the duplicate, which the duplicate then sent Vergil flying in the air with a roundhouse kick. Beelzebub appeared as he kicked Vergil in the side, before grabbing him by the head, and smashing him down against the ground, causing him to bounce once. The duplicate then vanished as the flies that constructed it dispersed. Beelzebub laughed wickedly, when he unleashed a rapid flurry of punches against Vergil ending in a gut punch, as Vergil back flipped several times, bouncing once off the ground before crashing. Coughing once, he spat to the ground, and wiped his mouth.

Oddly, despite his injuries, he chuckled. "This may be fun after all." he thought. He looked up to see Beelzebub flying towards him, his wings creating loud buzzing sounds. Rearing his fist back he let it sail towards Vergil, intending to crush him, only for his fist to collide against the ground as Vergil teleported. The second it made contact, numerous Summoned Swords appeared around Beelzebub, aiming towards him causing him to widen his eyes. He looked behind him quickly to see Vergil with his back turned, but then the Summoned Swords all converged in unison, piercing Beelzebub in every direction of his body causing him to grunt in pain. "I should thank you for that, Beelzebub. Because now I'm MOTIVATED!" The Dark Slayer shouted, as he turned, and drew Yamato out in a horizontal slash, cutting Beelzebub across the stomach, followed by a series of slashes in a figure eight style, ending in a back flip kick against Beelzebub's head causing him to stagger back, Vergil suddenly appeared behind him and tripped him followed by a kick against his back with a Beowulf grieve sending him in the air.

He appeared in front of him, slashing upwards with Yamato followed by an attack consisting of forming his phantom blades, which then spun rapidly around his body like a saw constantly tearing at Beelzebub, then slashed horizontally twice, and knocked him down with an overhead. Before he made contact with the ground, Vergil appeared down in a blur, and unleashed several lighting quick sword slashes at Beelzebub, his sword attacks being like streaks of light. He made a zip-line slash, through Beelzebub, turned and tossed multiple phantom swords at Beelzebub's back. Vergil sprinted, taking out two of the Summoned Swords out of his back, sliding against the ground between his legs and appeared in front of him, before he slashed with the Summoned Swords in an X pattern downwards then upwards, forming streaks of light in the process, and sending Beelzebub staggering backwards for a moment.

"Had enough?" Vergil asked as he held Yamato by the handle while it was sheathed. Then, much to his puzzlement, Beelzebub began to laugh loudly as his wounds healed in seconds. "Enough? Ha! You've barely even scratched the surface. However, I am impressed you were able to damage me to this extent. But rest assured, this will be the only time where you do." he taunted as he cracked his neck with a grin. Vergil narrowed his eyes as he pressed his thumb against the guard preparing to draw. After a moment, the two vanished and appeared clashing once again. With Vergil's sword against Beelzebub's gauntlet, they then disappeared and appeared again this time in the air with Vergil slashing overhead and Beelzebub blocking it with his forearm. They repeated this pattern as the two teleported constantly, clashing and parrying against themselves when then, Beelzebub landed a blow against Vergil by punching him down to the ground.

The Dark Slayer crashed to the ground in a heap. Beelzebub was seen using his wings to propel himself downward with the intent of destroying the Son of Sparda. He reared his fist back and let it sail, only for his fist to collide against a large blue shield that was made by Vergil. Beelzebub narrowed his bright red compound eyes, "Hmph." he said, when he suddenly unleashed a rapid barrage of strong punches against the shield. Vergil grit his teeth, beginning to strain against the Lord of the Flies' onslaught and his shield weakening. The attack also caused the shield along with Vergil to sink in the ground slowly, creating massive cracks, and slabs of concrete to up-heave itself with large amounts of dust to collect around them. Beelzebub continued for eight seconds before ending in a final punch, suddenly creating a large crack on the shield. "THIS IS THE END!" Beelzebub declared as he raised his fist back and unleashed a final devastating punch, shattering the shield, and culminating in a titanic explosion of dust and debris that completely destroyed the plateau they were on.

Moment passed, when the dust cleared, Vergil was seen slowly standing up supporting himself with his scabbard and glanced to see Beelzebub approaching him menacingly but slowly. "Did you truly think you ever had a chance of defeating me? Did you think that you could hope to rival or even surpass my prowess? You ignorant fool. I am Beelzebub! The warden of the dead! Third in power in the hierarchy of Hell! Your presumption of me being a coward will now prove to be a fatal mistake, Son of Sparda." he boasted as Vergil stood up fully to his feet, then brushed his arm. Beelzebub flapped his wings once, creating a cloud of dust behind him as propelled himself forward, rearing his claws back, and threw them straight at Vergil. When he neared very close, Vergil suddenly brought up his scabbard and stopped the claw from skewering his face.

A gust of wind passed them from the Lord of the Flies' speed. Beelzebub's eyes widened with shock, seeing Vergil stopping his assault with his scabbard as his claws were lodge between the seemingly indestructible wood. Vergil turned and opened his eyes, glaring with fierce intensity at Beelzebub. Then, in a flash, Vergil had Yamato drawn, when a moment later, Beelzebub's arm was seen falling to the ground, completely severing it from his body as yellowish blood sprayed out. The demon of gluttony staggering back with a grunt. He looked to see where his arm once was, then towards Vergil whom stood there and holding Yamato with one hand. He flicked Beelzebub's blood off. "Are you quite finished?" he taunted, causing Beelzebub to growl slightly but soon gave away to an amused smirk. Beelzebub looked as though he was holding out where his severed arm was, Vergil staring in confusion.

A sound was heard, when suddenly, Beelzebub's arm jutted out, regenerating and reforming, minus the gauntlet he once hand. Vergil's eyes widened at this, causing Beelzebub to chuckle in amusement, "What? Did you think it was that simple? Here, allow me to make it even more interesting." He slowly hunched over, and with a slight grunt, two additional arms jutted out from his back collarbone, and two more out of his shoulder blades. Beelzebub slowly stood up, now sporting six arms as he laughed lowly, with Vergil bracing himself. Taking a step forward he said, "Prepare yourself, Son of Sparda. Here I come." He flew over with tremendous speed, rearing three of his arms back and punched Vergil, the Son of Sparda attempting to block with his scabbard, all three fists colliding against it, but the force was too strong as it sent Vergil flying and propelled through the air, crashing into three slabs of concrete, then bouncing twice, and landing down, skidding with his feet.

"Damn it!" He grit his teeth, only to look up seeing Beelzebub quickly upon him and unleashed a relentless onslaught of punches with all his arms. Vergil used Yamato to parry and block the punches as best he could, all while the he was being pushed backwards with his feet skidding on the ground, and Beelzebub hovering above it while performing a barrage of incredibly rapid punches. Vergil sucked his teeth, parrying and blocking with his sword with increasing difficulty, Beelzebub laughing in the process, each strike creating bright sparks of energy. His sword was then knocked out of his hand, only to have his body savagely battered by a series of rapid punches from all six of Beelzebub's arms. He ended his attack by punching down Vergil against the ground with his right three fists, then punches him with his left three, then grabs him with one arm, and beats him with his free five fists before punching him away with his left three as he spun in the air and bounced twice then skids across the ground for a moment.

He shook for a moment in great pain, only to heal from his injuries. He grunted and strained while he stood slowly. Beelzebub grinned before all six of his fists where lit with blackish brown energy, then performed a series of rapid punching motions with his fists, sending a hail of energy orbs towards Vergil with his guard seemingly down. But before they do, Vergil quickly manifested Ardor, and spun the staff around himself rapidly deflecting each and every orb that was sent at his direction. As he deflected the final orb of energy, Beelzebub suddenly appeared to his side, rearing three of his fists back and lets them sail towards him only for Vergil to quickly intercept and bring up Ardor causing Beelzebub's fists to collide against the rod of the staff instead, several slabs of concrete erupted to the side from Vergil from the force of the demon's attack and from Vergil halting himself by planting his foot against the ground.

He shoves Beelzebub back and attacks. The Lord of the Flies unleashes a series of rapid punches at Vergil whom constantly blocks and parries with Ardor by spinning the staff in front of his body quickly. Each time Beelzebub attempted to land a hand, his fist would only collide against the blunt end of the staff or the rod itself. Eventually, Vergil was able to subdue Beelzebub with Ardor by spinning it several times, and lodge it between his arms like a wrench in machine cogs causing him to grunt. He delivered a strong headbutt against Beelzebub, stunning him briefly, before kicking the ram end of the staff up, as it spun rapidly in front and allowing Beelzebub to be free of his lock. Vergil grabbed the staff, and began to counter by whacking Beelzebub in the head numerous times left and right with the bull and ram end of the staff, then spun it with one hand vertically as he uppercutted the demon lord repeatedly, and the move was similar to Dante's Prop Shredder.

He then spins the staff forward, switching it from side to side as he rapidly struck Beelzebub's body with the blunt ends of the weapon with fast pace. He then held it up overhead, purple energy charging through it with electricity coursing through the rod, and smashed it overhead against Beelzebub's head to the ground creating a strong explosion of dust and energy. As it cleared, he scowled to see Beelzebub on one knee, with the ram end of the staff against his head. He suddenly grabbed the rod with four of his hands, pulled Vergil over, and delivered a strong jab against Vergil's cheek, and causing him to slide along the ground with a pain shout. He opened his eyes to see Beelzebub examining Ardor curiously.

"Such a cruel fate for a devil's soul to be weaponized for the sake of the victor's coming battle. Although, I do find some form of entertainment in it. Example being...I could entrap their very body within the weapons they once wielded. A fate worse then death they say." He said with a chuckle. Vergil stood up slowly and Beelzebub glanced at him, annoyed by his persistence. Vergil then chuckled himself, and adjusted his hair before brushing his coat casually. "You misunderstand that not all demonic weapons are Devil Arms." He said stated, much to Beelzebub's confusion when realization quickly hit him. And literally as well, as Beelzebub felt a sharp stabbing pain pierce his midsection and causing him to stagger forward a bit. He looked down to see Yamato piercing out from his torso.

Vergil took the opportunity to sprint forward with great speed. Beelzebub unleashed several needle thin energy beams from his compound eyes, only for Vergil to dash around the battle field, leaving behind faint after images of himself attempting to throw Beelzebub off guard. He suddenly appeared in front of the Lord of the Flies while sprinting, and then mounting on him by running on his torso and chest with two steps causing the demon lord to lean back. Vergil took Ardor from his hand, then leaped forward off of him, spinning sideways once as he whacked Beelzebub in the back with Ardor, while also striking the end cap of Yamato that was piercing his back causing to fly out of his chest. Vergil immediately appeared near where Yamato was about to land, and grabbed the handle tightly before slashing three times with lightning fast speed, streaks of light surrounded Beelzebub for a moment, and severing two of his arms while sending him crashing forward to the ground with a shout.

Dissipating Ardor, he waved Yamato once now reunited with his beloved blade, while glaring towards Beelzebub. The demon lord of gluttony was slowly standing up and healing from his wounds as he growled but then laughed, "Good. You're getting better. It would seem that I would have to increase the intensity of this battle more." he said, before he flapped his wings once creating a strong tremor and a wave of dust to surround him and expand. Vergil narrowed his eyes, preparing himself as he pressed his thumb against the tsuba of the blade. Beelzebub held his arm out as a flash of blackish brown light appeared, when then a set of weapons appeared. Vergil glanced at them, and they seem to be insectoid in appearance. His hand to his wrist were wrapped around in a chain that had the appearance of insect legs, with the end of it in the shape of a scorpion's stinger. It appeared to be some kind of rope dart.

Beelzebub chuckled darkly, "I admit, it has been centuries where I've been forced to use my beloved weapon. The first time being your father of course. Feeling honored, Vergil? If not, then you should tremble. Because it will only get more difficult for you." He declared as he whipped out his rope dart once in a flash, striking the ground next to him and causing a sizable crater to form from the impact. Vergil was not fazed, instead bracing himself. Neither of the two moved for several moments, when they suddenly broke into sprints, charging towards one another with a shout. They clashed, with Beelzebub whipping out the rope dart towards Vergil with terrifying speed, however, Vergil was able to intercept it and parry it with his blade as he blocked a strong hay maker from Beelzebub's fist with his scabbard, he tilted his head to the side to evade a jab from Beelzebub's additional arm, then parried several thrusting motions of his rope dart before jumping back to dodge another punch from Beelzebub.

"Hmph. Now that he is armed with that rope dart, I can't attack at him close range. I'll rely on long range for the time being until I disarm him." He thought to himself before sheathing Yamato, and quickly teleporting to evade another lunge from the rope dart, striking the ground and creating a small explosion of dust and a hole to form. Beelzebub used his additional arms to his advantage by switching occasionally, as he rapidly lunged the rope dart at Vergil with incredible speed while the Dark Slayer dashed from one side to the next with flashy speed. He finally parried the last dart attack and sprinted with incredible speed at Beelzebub. The demon lord made several punching motions with his two right arms unleashing a barrage of energy orbs at Vergil. Vergil countered by deflecting them with Yamato and slashed once at him.

Beelzebub blocked it with his gauntlet, and pulled in his rope dart towards Vergil whom ducked in time to evade it's oncoming slash. He jumped back and parried the second lunge of the rope dart. Beelzebub then spun the rope dart around himself, switching from hand to hand constantly and rapidly at that, the connected chains made it look as though he was in a sphere while Vergil repeatedly parried and blocked the endless onslaught of attacks of the blade at the end of the chain his eyes narrowed with intense focus. Finally, Beelzebub slashed upwards with the rope dart as Vergil defended. Suddenly, he charged his energy through the chain and the blade, when it then took the form of a spectral scorpion's tail and stinger. Vergil's eyes widened, when the stinger then quickly rocketed down at him, causing him to dash to the side, then again and three more times to evade the strikes of the spectral scorpion's stinger. "There!" he shouted then vanished, when the scorpion's tail when then severed by a streak of light, and Vergil immediately appearing below Beelzebub, and whipped Yamato out from his scabbard, slashing upwards.

He was then shocked to see his blade tearing up at Beelzebub's torso and chest, but stopped by one of his arms as he held the blade. "Look at yourself, Vergil. You throw yourself in a forest of punishment and despair, and all for what? To go back to a world filled with animals? Animals that slaughter each other for the pettiest of things like politics and currency. Not only are you amusing...but you are actually quite pitiful." he mused, as Vergil frowned at him. Beelzebub slashed down with his claw, however, he only struck a faint after image of Vergil as the son of Sparda moved with immense speed and appeared behind the demon lord. He slashed once horizontally, only for his sword to go through Beelzebub as it was another duplicate made of flies. The real Beelzebub appeared behind Vergil in return and performed a jab of his claws, only for Vergil to block it with Yamato, then strike Beelzebub in the head with his scabbard. The demon countered by performing a side to kick against Vergil's ribs, cracking them and causing him to wince in pain, but he immediately slashed Beelzebub's chest horizontally once.

The two exchanged in a flurry of sword attacks and physical attacks, going faster and more fierce as a cloud of dust surrounds them slowly. Finally, the two are knocked back from their own attacks with Vergil slashing at Beelzebub's chest and the latter punching Vergil in the face as they skidded along the ground. Beelzebub's wounds soon healed, "Is that it? Vergil...I'm starting to become disappointed. If you really wanted to take my heart and escape to that miserable place of a planet, you would have easily done it by now. So tell me...are you holding back? Or am I coming to the limits of your powers? Come on...SHOW ME MORE, SON OF SPARDA!" he shouted as he reformed his rope dart and wrapped it around his arm, taking a battle stance.

Vergil said nothing, his eyes closed, but then his lips soon formed into a rather wicked smile which gave way to laughter, "For once you're actually right, Beelzebub. If I wanted to escape to the Human World, I would have easily carved out your heart by now to do it. But the truth is...I was only delaying the inevitable. For you see I have a rather bad habit of testing my opponent's abilities and physical prowess...to see what they are capable of until I deliver the killing blow. And I must say, you are actually more formidable then I expected. Which I am pleased about." he said, as Beelzebub frowned with a scoff. Vergil cracked his neck as he glared towards him, "The limits of my abilities? Please...don't think I didn't notice you were holding back much of your power as well. So...if you want me to show you more...then I am happy to oblige." he stated as he ran a hand through his spiky platinum hair, and then with a wave of his hand an explosion of blue demonic energy engulfed him.

The dust cleared as Vergil emerged, now in his Devil Trigger, with a dark blue aura enshrouding him circulated by streaks of blue electricity. He spoke in a dark and deep demonic voice, "My apologies for keeping you waiting, demon. Here is my demonic power in manifest. Now...let's make this more interesting and exciting, Lord of the Flies." He then swung his sword once, creating shock wave behind them, and charged with unbelievable speed, leaving behind slabs of concrete to up-heave from the force of his power as he sped towards Beelzebub.
