Heheheh. Now this is a surprise. The piddly son of Lord Garmadon coming to ME. Do you have any idea who you face, boy? You are weakened, while I am at full strength!
I leaned down on all fours, snarling. The Overlord was an immense, ugly Dragon, multiple times my size, but I did not falter. This was the end. I couldn't back down now.
I wouldn't back down now.
"Even at diminished strength, I will still be able to defeat you!" I called, unsheathing my claws, as I prepared to jump. He leaned forward, giving me a hearty snarl, before he swung his tail at me, attempting to stab me with his barb. I leapt up, and latched on to the end of it, much to the Overlords annoyance. He waved it wildly, in an attempt to throw me off, as he roared. I continued to climb up his back, sinking my claws into his dark flesh, as he kept trying to shake me off.
I then stopped at the base of his neck, unsheathed my claws as far as I could go, and stabbed them into the joint where his neck and wing met.
The Overlord's scream of pure agony was the loveliest thing I had heard all day. I grinned as I dug my hand deeper into his corrupted flesh, smiling when I saw black blood splatter out, avoiding my skin. I summoned up my golden power, and injected it into his flesh, the screams getting louder.
"I am retribution for your creations, and your sins! I will destroy you, Overlord! Even if I have to send my own father down to Hell with you!" I proclaimed, as I sunk my claws in further. The Overlord continued to scream, spinning around and trying to throw me off, wildly shaking and spazzing. In return, I sunk my other set of claws into another part of his neck to hold myself down on top of him.
Insolent little brat! Get off me!
"Not until you're dead! I will never let go, and never give up, until you're six feet under!" I cried, unsheathing the claws on my feet. The golden power of the First Spinjitzu Master filled my veins, and I was filled with hope. I could do this. I could win.
Something suddenly stabbed me in the stomach, and wrenched me off the Overlord's side, pushing me up into the air. I choked, eyes wide as I realized a solid spear of darkness had formed below me on his skin to protect him, and now had me impaled and suspended into the air.
It then flung me back onto the roof of the fortress, in front of the Overlord, as I gasped for breath, holding my bleeding stomach with a grave injury that should have killed most men. The Overlord grinned, and shook out his injured wing, before spreading them both out beside him as he leaned towards me, grinning.
You were saying? You will never defeat me, child. I am a God, while you are a mere mortal. My power is far superior, and try as you may; you will never defeat me as you are
I spit at him, and shakily got to my feet, clutching my stomach. I refused to listen to him.
"I don't care WHAT you think. I will never give up. EVER. There are too many things at stake for me to just give up," I snarled, holding the Golden energy to my stomach. "Ninja never quit"
The Overlord seemed amused by my little speech. He flicked his tail, and shook out his wings nonchalantly, before he took off a bit, and hovered over the building.
As you wish, little insect. DIE.
I had no time to react when he suddenly charged up a blast, and with a huge explosion, I was flung off the top of the fortress, and into the darkness below.
As I plummeted into the abyss, my life flashed before my eyes.
Images of my childhood were the start, as I remembered playing in the snow. My mother was smiling from the porch, warning me not to stay out too long.
My days at a Tenkai Knight came next, as images of training, fooling around, and fighting swirled together to join the symphony, ending off at the final fight with Vilius. They trailed back into the snow again, as I was remembering the trial, and the darkness, erasing the knight in me.
The snow surrounded me, as I passed out in it, the blurry form of Kai being my savior from the cold. Weeks of bonding with the Ninja followed, making me smile, even in the face of death. Discovering I was the Green Ninja, bonding with Lloyd, and making amends with Kai, came near the end, as the ground drew closer.
'They're still counting on me. I can't give up...'
A rush of energy suddenly greeted me, and I gasped, feeling all my wounds heal at once. I whipped around in the air to face the ground, and with an incredible burst of energy, I lead out a mighty roar, as I transformed into the Golden Dragon, and took back off into the air, narrowly missing the ground by inches.
I was filled with HOPE.
I whipped around and took off back toward the Overlord's fortress, roaring.
"OVERLORD!" I shouted, just before I barreled into him, knocking him off the fortress. He let out a shout of surprise; before he shakily realigned himself in the air, and flew shakily back up to my level, glaring. "How about you pick on someone your own size?"
Cheeky little brat. You should have died!
"Maybe. But I didn't, because I have people behind me to protect. I will never let the likes of you get to them. Not now, not ever!" I proclaimed, flapping my wings mightily. He snarled in response, annoyed with my persistence.
Tough. Because once I'm done with you, I'm going to erase everything you hold dear, including your father!
"He's probably dead either way. Unlike you, I am accepting of the consequences of man's choices. Garmadon made his, and now he's your vessel. And if I have to get through him to send you to Hell, so be it" I hissed, before I dove toward the Overlord, claws extended as I crashed into him, slashing at his skin. He screamed, as he tried to retaliate, but to no avail. I was winning this time, no matter what it took.
I ripped at his front, and darted back as he tried to attack again. He roared in fury, and dove toward me, intent to kill all over his face. I grinned, and dove beneath him, knocking him off balance. He shouted, and flipped over in the air, sinking below me as he plummeted.
I dove toward his falling body, and bit into his neck, as I shoved him back down on top of the roof of the fortress, keeping my jaws digging into his neck, claws tearing his wings as he struggled to stay alive.
But it was too late. I released his neck, and dug my claws into it instead, before I ripped him open, from the neck to the base of the tail, to ensure he was finished. He screamed in agony, as his lifeblood poured out, trying to heal himself.
It was to no avail. He choked, and tried to flip over, but I kicked him back down, my claws on his neck holding him down as he bled out, waiting until his last breath trailed into the sky.
His evil eyes lost their light, and he went limp no more than ten seconds later, his face still twisted into a look of pure hate. As his body started to evaporate, I turned around, and grinned, before I took off into the air.
"The Overlord is no more!" I proclaimed in an ancient voice, before I summoned up all of my Golden Power, and released it in a huge pulse, that erased the Overlords influence as it passed over Ninjago. I grinned as I watched his fortress collapse on top of him, burying him under the rubble, and his Stone Army turned to dust.
Filled with elation, I took off into a spiral around the city, cheering as I watched the Golden pulse spread. Everything was finally over.
I had won!
After about ten laps around the city, I finally landed back in the middle, changing back into my human form. About two seconds later, I was dog piled by the other ninja, and even though so much physical contact would tick me off on any other day, I was too happy to care. I laughed as I wrestled my way out of the complementing mass, and jumped up and down.
"I did it! I won!" I cried, still in elation. Kai wrapped an arm around me, and gave me a hearty noogie in response. I cried out playfully.
"Yeah you did, kid! We're all proud!" Kai said, as I struggled to get out of his hold, laughing too much to care.
"That was amazing! I didn't even see most of it, but it was awesome!" Jay cheered, as I slipped out of Kai's grip. I smiled widely, as Ultra Dragon dropped down behind me, along with the two Quartonian Griffins.
"What is it with you and changing colors? Your suits a shiny gold now" Ceylan asked, pulling at the fabric of my suit when he had made his way over with the other two knights. I grinned, and gently pulled it out of his grip.
"It's my thing" I said, shrugging, as Sensei Wu spoke with the Ninja behind me. "So, now that I've won my prophesied final battle, what to you three plan on doing?"
Ceylan rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly, as Chooki stepped forward.
"We have to go back home. The Guardians told us before we came out here that we needed to return to our dimension after the final battle. There's some kind of dimensional law that prevents us from staying here for a prolonged period of time" Chooki explained, shrugging. "There's something called a death penalty if we break it, and we're pushing the time limit as it is"
"Oh... I suppose that makes sense" I muttered, rubbing the back of my head. I could get what the second thing was: I couldn't go with them. I'd made Ninjago my home. But I smiled again at my old team. "Well, I'm glad I was able to fight alongside you three one last time"
"Us too" Chooki said, extending a hand. I grinned and took it, giving him a hearty shake, as a portal opened up behind them.
"I wish you luck. Pray our paths cross again someday, friends" I said, smiling. We exchanged bows; before the other three knights turned their backs to me, and walked through the portal, back to their home.
'I wonder how Ceylan's going to explain to his mom why he's two years older?' I thought jokingly, even though a little part of me was in a lot of pain. I would probably never see the other knights again...
But as I turned around to face the other ninja and Lloyd, who had recovered, I was filled with hope again. I would see them again someday. I was sure.
I ran over back to the ninja, and scooped Lloyd up in my arms, cheering again as I nuzzled my little brother. The others seemed amused by my now cheerful attitude, but didn't mention it.
"Ack! Guren! Put me down!" He cried, as he tried to wriggle out of my arms. I giggled at his protests, but released him anyway. I looked over to Wu, and Silver, and reminded myself of Misako, who we had buried on the Dark Island.
Both of them seemed at peace, content with the fact that Misako hadn't died in vain. I looked down at Lloyd, and wondered for a moment on who would keep an eye on him now.
"Wu?" I suddenly heard a voice ask from behind me, causing me to flinch. I whirled around as I felt an arm snap out in front of me, keeping me from going forward. It was Kai's, which wasn't a surprise at this point.
What was a surprise was who crawled out of the ruin of the Overlords fortress. He had black hair that fell partially over his reddish-brown eyes, as he stumbled out of the rubble, and down onto the clear ground.
There was a few seconds of silence, as shock ran through the air.
"Dad!" Lloyd cried, shattering the quiet shock of the atmosphere as he ran down toward the man who used to be Lord Garmadon. I shoved Kai aside as I darted down after him, brotherly protective instinct taking over.
I stopped a few feet away from the two, as Lloyd happily jumped up, and wrapped his arms around Garmadon's neck, crying slightly with a smile on his face. I relaxed just slightly when Garmadon returned the hug, with a lone pair of arms.
"I feel... good! I haven't felt this way for a very long time" Garmadon cheered, as he spun around in a circle, Lloyd still in his arms. "I missed you!"
"I missed you too, dad!" Lloyd giggled, as he nuzzled his cheek. I relaxed completely in form, and I acquired a dumbfounded expression. I... Had no idea what an appropriate reaction to this situation was. I always treated Garmadon as an enemy that must be defeated, and pushed all feelings about him being my father to the back of my mind, so I would feel nothing if I killed him.
But seeing him here, alive, and devoid of all the evil that plagued him... I didn't know how to respond. I was so used to the enemy status I gave him that this had rendered me immobile in my shock and confusion.
Lloyd seemed to notice this, and he gently squirmed out of his father's grasp. Garmadon kept his eyes on him, as he scampered over to me, and grabbed my hand, tugging me towards the former Evil Lord.
He let me stop a foot or two away from Garmadon, and backed away quietly, leaving me alone with him. It was quiet and awkward for a few seconds, as we stared into each other's eyes.
I certainly wasn't expecting him to pull me into an affectionate hug. I went rigid as he put a hand on the back of my head.
"Thank you, son" He said, as he hugged me tighter. My ears flattened down on my head, as tears suddenly spilled from my eyes. I shakily returned the hug, a weak smile forming on my face, as I buried my face into my father's shoulder.
I finally felt at peace, in the loving embrace of my father.
Thank you to everyone who has followed this story to its end! Your support has been my motivation over the years, and I am proud to call this story COMPLETE. This alternate timeline, however, is still continuing. Instead of writing the whole Techno arc, I've decided to go a different route with a story about Lloyd in the Techno arc's place (the events still occur while Lloyd's story is going on, but I just didn't want to write that arc) instead, I am bringing more alternative stuff to this timeline, and getting creative.
The story continues, in Lloyd's Undertale
And the One Shot I will write afterward, RESET, will be relevant to the next Arc: The Tournament of Elements.
