30 Days of Writing - 21 - sunset

There's the sound of Ashley and Garrus' armoured shoulders against the bunks door ringing in their ears. Tali's hacking had unlocked it - but the door was jammed from the aggressive environment that engulfed the planets surface. Underground was almost the same story, branches and wines knocking their heads at every turn.

The two pulled off their helmets, taking in the fresh air, leaving Tali to link their comms back up with Shepard's team while the two snipers assessed the area.

"Shepard, everything is overrun up here," Garrus said once Tali had given him the thumbs up.

"We might not be able to see you let along cover you up here," Ashley added, "unless we start climbing."

"Just try and get your si- your sight -" Shepard let out a sneeze over the comms almost in perfect time with Ashley beside him, and then another before she was able to talk again, "I hate this planet. Just see if you can get to a better position, we've gotta get moving."

"Yeah, the day cycle here is short," Ashley said, securing her helmet back on her head.

The plates above Garrus's eyes raised at her, "I thought the sun was going down when we got here?"

Tali shook her head, "It was going up."

"It was definitely going up," Shepard's voice crackled to them once again. Ashley grinned, the two women staring at him in an amused silence.

"Did I mention I've been living on a space station for five years?"

"And now it's time to get back to nature," Ashley slapped him on the shoulder, "get climbing before the sun gets in your eyes, hot shot."
