A/N: So I owe all of you an enormous apology for taking this long to write something, but here is the next chapter. And before you finish this author's notes, I want to let you know that I do not know when I will be updating again. However, I do want to let you know that before the next update, I am going to go back and edit this story. I was rereading it so I could get back into the flow and I noticed so many mistakes. So before the next update or the next update be aware that I am editing the story as a whole. So be aware that I may change parts or that future parts may not add up. Now, for those of you who still are interested here's the new chapter.
"Good morning gorgeous," Dallas cooed brushing away Taylor's stray curls.
The blonde groaned as she opened her eyes. The first thing she registered was the sunlight streaming in from behind the white curtains and the warmth from her bedmate. Turning to snuggle closer to Dallas, Taylor saw her girlfriend's very entrancing pink lips before her eyes traveled down the expense of the very fit naked body. The lazy smile Taylor donned was replaced by a vixen grin.
"Hello," Taylor purred. "Aren't you a sight for sore eyes?"
Dallas let out a hearty chuckle seeing her lover's eyes switch and glow from her icy blue to an aqua tone.
"What are you laughing at?" Taylor growled flipping Dallas over so she was on top. Her lips twisting up into a smirk as she felt Dallas tremble beneath her.
Dallas gulped before looking up into her eyes. "Nothing. Why do you think that?"
Taylor shook her head before she bent down and kissed her. Her pink lips enveloping Dallas's. As Taylor mouth worked wonders on Dallas's neck her hands caressed down the sun touched skin, and ignited all of Dallas's cells on fire. Dallas's breath picked up as her body thrummed with new found energy. Reaching her girlfriend's weak point, Taylor's tongue swirled over the darker ink incasing the skin to the right of Dallas' belly button closer to the dip of her hipbone. Dallas moaned arching her body, her toes curled and her hands gripped the sheets, her breath—
"DALLAS! TAYLOR! GET YOUR ASSES DOWN HERE THIS INSTANT! YOU CAN HAVE SEX TOMORROW OR LATER! WE HAVE BUSINESS TO ATTEND TOO!" Mikayla's voice carried up the stairs.
Taylor slumped onto her girlfriend, snarling to herself, "You've got to be fucking kidding me."
Dallas let out a frustrated laugh. "It's Murphy's law, amor. Vamos antes de que nos grite." (It's Murphy's law, love. Let's go before she shouts at us again)."
"What?" Taylor grumbled as she met Mikayla's gaze from above her book. Dallas behind her slowly moved over to the table and took her seat.
Mikayla sat nursing a mug of hot cocoa reading. She was dressed in yoga pants a t-shirt and hoody. Her sneakers pulled on and her hair pulled back into a loose ponytail. Taylor dressed similarly walked over to the stove and poured herself a mug of fresh made chocolate. Taking the seat across from her alpha and next to her mate, Taylor slumped back onto Dallas.
"Morning to you to," Mikayla greeted smiling slightly before going back to her book.
Taylor glared while Dallas nodded in acknowledgement to her.
"What's up boss?" Dallas asked. She knew beating around the bush would be pointless. Mikayla sighed as she set her book down. She glanced at the mug in her hands before looking up at her second in commands.
"Meeting. Rachel wants to meet about what's been going on." Mikayla explained taking a drink from her cocoa. "We leave as soon as Tess gets home and Miley calls backs to tell me where she is."
"Tess comes home?" Taylor raised a brow. "And where is she?"
Mikayla copied her sister's movements. "My guess would be christening Caitlyn's bed. She drove her home and didn't come home last night. I'm assuming she crashed over at Gellars."
Dallas chuckled and Taylor shook her head. "And Miley?"
Mikayla shrugged. "I have no idea. Last time I saw her she was dancing with Lily, but that was when I still was dancing."
Taylor and Dallas tensed at the fact that they had been close last night.
"You don't think?" Taylor questioned.
Mikayla shrugged again: "I don't' know, Tay, I really don't."
"Do you think Lily would pull anything?" Dallas asked.
"Let's hope not." Mikayla answered. "Anyway. How was the rest of your night?"
Taylor smiled lightly and Dallas grinned. "Marvelous."
"Yeah," Taylor added pushing a strand of hair back. "It was special."
"Good. Anyway be ready in ten. I have a feeling this meeting isn't going to be short." Mikayla groaned as she walked to her room. "I'll see you here then. I have a few things to take care of."
"Do you think she's okay?" Dallas asked once Mikayla had reached her room.
"I hope so," Taylor replied taking a sip of her chocolate. "I really do. I saw her with Mitchie. I just want her to be happy."
"She'll be happy, amor," Dallas whispered wrapping her arm around Taylor. "It's Lex, she's the strongest person I know."
Taylor sighed, "Yeah, but even the strongest leaders crumble at some point."
Dallas frowned before settling her lips on Taylor's temple and leaving a small kiss.
"Well lucky for her, we'll be there to pick her up…for now don't think about it."
"Okay…"
"Hey there," Tess welcomed seeing Caitlyn's eyes open.
Caitlyn blinked once, twice before registering her girlfriend's naked body next to her. And the piercing blue eyes that looked directly at her.
"It really did happen then," Caitlyn whispered. "It wasn't a dream."
Tess frowned not expecting that answer. It hurt her a bit, but she changed her facial expression less than a second later.
"I'm afraid not…" Tess laughed off awkwardly. "Was I really that bad?"
Caitlyn hearing her girlfriend's insecurities turned to look at her.
"No! No no no! You were perfect. It was magical."
The couple had chosen to wait to have sex. Caitlyn needed to confirm her feelings and Tess needed to come to terms and accept her feelings for the other girl. Prom had seemed liked the perfect cliché and the perfect place and time. It hadn't been planned. Just when the two had left prom, Tess deciding to drop of her girlfriend, since she had convinced her to go, and had stayed. She was originally just going to drop her off, but a goodnight make out kiss turned into a session. The make out session had turned passionate and fast paced. That led to clothes being tossed around and to the girls making it to the bedroom.
Tess waved it off still hurt. "Yeah okay."
The blonde cleared her throat before looking around for her phone. She'd heard it go off to a specialized tone. She knew Mikayla had called four times.
"Umm," Tess mumbled sitting up. "I should get going. Mikayla wants me home for something."
Caitlyn's face fell. "No. Stay. Please."
Tess hesitated. "I should leave…call me."
Caitlyn only frowned as she saw Tess get up and get dressed. The blonde wolf dressed herself quickly avoiding her girlfriend's eyes. When she was set to go she walked over to the bed and settled a kiss on Caitlyn's temple.
"Umm," Tess muttered as she reached the door. "…I'll talk to you later."
Caitlyn nodded, "Okay…umm…I love you…"
Tess nodded back and whispered "I love you too," before closing the door.
Caitlyn couldn't help, but let her face fall into her hands. "Stupid…stupid…fuck, Geller you're an idiot."
Harmony woke up with possibly the biggest, brightest smile on her face.
"Stop thinking," Sugar's mumbled voice came from the lump of covers next to her. "It's too early…go back to sleep."
Harmony chuckled deeply, her voice still hoarse due to just waking up, at her mate's reaction. Smirking she lowered herself closer to the rich girl's body and started planting kisses on her neck.
"You sure about that?" Harmony teased between kisses. "We could do something so much more fun…"
Sugar's eyes fluttered open and she stared questioningly at her. Pushing herself onto her elbows, Sugar asked: "Oh yeah, like what?"
"Hmm," Harmony pretended to ponder, tapping her chin in a mocking fashion, "I don't know…"
She trailed her finger down Sugar's body, making goose-bumps raise before continuing.
"…We could…I don't know, maybe establish our bond…you know officially?..."
That made Sugar pause, the now frozen artist turned towards the younger girl.
"Sugar?" Harmony questioned, confused by the sudden change of pace.
Sugar for her part didn't pay any attention instead she turned towards her phone and checked it over.
"Sugar?"
But Sugar again ignored Harmony, getting up and throwing some clothes of the other girl towards Harmony.
"Sugar? Can you please tell me what's going on?" Harmony mentioned having enough of being ignored
"Change," Sugar replied already pulling on a pair of jeans.
"Why?...Is everything alright?"
Sugar stopped to look at her and shook her head. "I don't know, but things are about to get interesting."
"What do you mean?"
Sugar regarded her mate with a serious stare. "You're coming clean, Harmony. You are telling us exactly what happened."
"Oh…" Harmony murmured seeing Sugar finish dressing.
Lily woke up to brushes of fingertips across her faces, the pads of the fingers ghosted her lips and traced her eyes and nose. As she took a deep breath, Lily inhaled the scent of her own sex as well as something that was akin to home, she smelt Miley. She let out a smile as her eyes fluttered open to observe the brunette her heart belonged to.
"Good morning," Lily whispered, pouting when the caresses stopped.
Miley only smiled back, before she turned to look out the window quickly. Quietly she sighed, and frowned. Sensing the change, Lily sat up pulling the covers with her as to not expose her chest, not that it would matter. Miley had seen her plenty of time and so had she.
"Hey, what's up?"
Miley groaned also sitting up and answered, "I don't want this moment to end."
Lily almost chuckled but shuffled closer to the brunette and incased her in a hug.
"Then don't let it," Lily muttered, her hot breath hitting Miley's ear.
Miley almost let herself stay in the bed, in fact she would have if she hadn't decided to take a deep breath right at that moment. As she inhaled she smelt the scent of wolves, and not her scent but a new one. One that she had never smelt before, but somehow seemed familiar. And that's when the memories of the past few weeks came rushing back, the memories filled with betrayal and lies. And those were enough reason to push Lily off her.
"Miles?" Lily asked, not knowing exactly what had happened. Her brow creased as she saw Miley gather her dress from last night and start looking for the other articles of clothing.
"Please, don't call me that," Miley said, pulling on her underwear.
"Can you at least tell me what's going on?" Lily pushed, she was truly lost. Moments ago they were having a picturesque moment.
"This," Miley gestured between them. "Was a mistake."
Lily's mouth dropped open. "What?"
"It can't happen again. Ever."
"Miley, what the fuck?"
"What the fuck?" Miley laughed as she finished dressing. "What the fuck, is that we are not together. We are not fuck buddies. We are not friends. We are nothing."
Standing up from her bed, Lily jumped in front of Miley, stopping her exit from the room.
"What happened?" Lily questioned, not fully understanding how things could have changed so quickly.
"What happened?" Miley repeated before shoving herself away from the blonde. "What happened was that you lied to me, and I can't ever forget that."
Lily didn't have a chance to say anything else because Miley had already slammed the front door.
"Get up," Mikayla ordered, opening up the blinds in her room.
Mitchie groaned from her spot on the floor as the light invaded the previously dark room.
"What?" Mitchie mumbled disoriented.
"I said, get up," Mikayla reiterated.
"Why?" Mitchie asked, rubbing her eyes as she sat up.
"Because if my pack hears your or worse smells you," Mikayla threatened. "You are screwed."
"How did I end up here?" Mitchie questioned as she stood up.
"Did you drink last night?" Mikayla interrupted, not quite believing the witch.
"No," Mitchie answered truthfully. "I just…can't remember anything really past Taylor's song."
Mikayla rolled her eyes and laughed a dark cynical laugh. "Of course you can't, how fucking convenient."
"Okay, what crawled up your ass and died," Mitchie snapped. "If I remember we were actually having a decent time, even fun."
"What happened?" Mikayla echoed, "What happened is you swore you were going to come clean. But I guess you can't even bother to remember that."
Mitchie swallowed, when the hell did she promise that? And more importantly why couldn't she remember anything that happened past Taylor's song from last night. She honestly had no idea how she ended up at the Anderson-Tyler-Torres-Stewart household. She's utterly surprised Mikayla even allowed her to stay.
"Mikayla," Mitchie gasped. "I swear, I don't know what's going on? I honestly can't remember anything that happened after that song."
Mikayla huffed, "Sure. Just get the fuck out of here, Monroe. I frankly don't have time nor do I want to deal with your crap."
"I know you have no reason to believe me, but I'm telling you the truth," Mitchie pleaded.
"Get dressed and get out," Mikayla growled and her eyes glowed a dangerous gold before returning to their normal brown.
"MIK?" Dallas voice came from downstairs, "TESS JUST CALLED, SHE'S PICKING MILES UP AND MEETING US DIRECTLY AT RACHEL'S. WE'RE GOING TO HEAD OVER. WE'LL MEET YOU THERE."
"ALRIGHT," Mikayla shouted back and she waited until she could see both Taylor and Dallas's figures walk in the direction of Rachel's house.
Once she was sure, she couldn't hear anyone else in the house (the adults had been smart and rented a room at the Lima hotel for the night. Shelby, David, Robby Ray, Holly, Kelly, and Theresa had all known it would be a bad idea to be home.) Mikayla turned to look at the witch who was changing back into her dress. Groaning, because she was much too nice of a person sometimes, Mikayla found a pair of sweats and a hoody for the magical being.
"Here," Mikayla offered. "Now c'mon, I'll wait for you downstairs. And don't touch anything on your way down."
Mitchie smiled gratefully and changed as quickly as she could once the wolf had left. Five minutes later she found herself in the kitchen and found a cup (disposable) of coffee thrust in her direction. She followed Mikayla out the back door and through the garden gate, before being led to the back alley, were surprisingly her car was parked.
"Here are your keys," Mikayla informed tossing them over along with Mitchie's purse. "Now, get out before anyone sees you."
Mitchie couldn't help but feel saddened by the nonchalance Mikayla displayed. But nonetheless she nodded and scrambled to turn on the engine. She rolled her window down and turned to look at Mikayla.
Mitchie took a deep breath and smiled: "I know you don't believe me, but I don't remember what happened half the night. But anything I said that had to do with my feelings for you are true, Mikayla. I like you, that's true."
Mikayla bit her lip and turned her head in the direction of Rachel's house. "Just leave."
Mitchie swallowed and nodded, as she ignited the engine she turned to whisper words that she knew the other girl would hear.
"Thank you, for last night."
Mikayla didn't make any form of acknowledgement and instead walked over directly towards the one place she was hoping to get answers from. Or at least anything that would take her mind off the previous night.
New Text from Harmony
Can you meet me at Rachel's?
Gabrielle looked confused at her screen. She'd just woken up next to Puck after one of the best nights in her life and she was hoping on going steady with the badass after this night.
New Text to Harmony
Why?
Next to her Puck grumbled indicating he was awake. "Hey."
"Hi," Gabrielle smiled and grinned when she saw Puck turn to look at her face instead of her body. "You slept well?"
"Yeah," Puck answered. "It was a pretty great night."
"Just pretty great?" Gabrielle teased, standing up to look for her clothes.
"Here," Puck offered, opening a drawer from next to his bed and handing her one of his clean t-shirts.
Gabrielle took it gratefully, slipping it on. "You wouldn't happen to have pants that could fit me, now would you?"
Puck shook his head, "Sorry, but no….these might help?"
He pulled out a pair of running shorts that had a waistband that could be tied.
Gabrielle slipped them on adjusted them to her waist line. She looked kind of ridiculous but it would do.
"Thanks," Gabrielle stated, as she fixed her hair. "For this and for last night. It was special."
Puck smiled softly and nodded. "You're welcome."
"I should—"
"What do you say about dinner tonight?" Puck questioned interrupting the junior cheerleader.
Gabrielle looked impressed before she smiled shyly and nodded. "I'd like that a lot…breadsticks?"
"Nah," Puck shook his head. "I think something else might be better."
Gabrielle nodded again. "Text me?"
"Leaving? I was hoping for another round," Puck chuckled, watching Gabrielle finish gathering her stuff.
"I need to get going," Gabrielle apologized. "Girl friend in distress and all that."
Puck waved her off. "I'll be expecting you tonight, Avery."
"Wouldn't miss it for the world, Puckerman," Gabrielle mentioned, settling a quick kiss on Puck's lips before walking out the door.
New Text from Harmony
I'm confessing. It's the only way Sugar and I can even begin to make amends. I'm not burning the only bridge I have to making things right.
As she started the engine of her car, Gabrielle sent off a quick text.
New Text to Harmony
Hold your tongue. I'll be there as soon as I can. We both got things to say.
In all honesty, Mikayla doesn't know why she's surprised to find her pack and most of Rachel's pack in the tiny brunette's house with no sign of Rachel.
Brittany is beaming from her spot on the couch. She'd had an amazing night with Santana, but the Latina had something to do with her family early in the morning to Brittany couldn't have stayed longer. Tina looks almost as happy as Brittany, she had a pretty great night with Mike and she knows this conversation has been a long time coming, Tina's just looking forward to get it out of the way. Sam looked tired, but overall happy. He spent half the night on the phone talking with Mercedes. The front door opened and in walked Tess and Miley, they waved at the others in the room before moving to take seats on the couch. No one made a comment on how they could smell Lily and Caitlyn on them.
"Let's get you changed," Tina suggested seeing both girls in their dresses from the previous night. She led both of them towards Rachel's room where she pulled out clothes that would fit them.
As they made their way downstairs the door opened again and this time Jesse and Charlie walked in. They brought breakfast as a peace offering and to help ease the long morning.
Mikayla took her time observing her pack and the members missing from Rachel's.
"Where's Sugar?" She questioned after only noticing her missing, Blaine had slipped in shortly after Charlie and Jesse.
"Right here," Sugar answered walking into the room, Harmony shuffling in behind her.
"What's she doing here?" Tess hissed.
Sugar stepped in front of Harmony, her instincts to protect her mate overpowering her.
"She's here to explain what's been going on," Sugar replied. "As is Gabrielle, who'll be joining us soon, I believe."
The living room is launched into silence, the only noises being those of crunched wrapping paper and chewing.
"Where's Rachel?" Jesse asked once everyone is settled with food. Charlie is sitting in between his legs, her back against his chest. "We can't start without her."
All the wolves shrug, not knowing where the other Alpha resides. Charlie, however, chuckled and all eyes turned to her.
"You don't know?" Charlie laughed. "She spent the night at ours."
Quinn woke up to the most gorgeous sight possible—Rachel (slightly drooling, even though she'd deny it for the entirety of her life) asleep next to her. The blonde couldn't believe how lucky she was for having the small brunette back in her life.
They hadn't slept together the previous night. No, they'd come home from Prom, and made their way to Quinn's temporary bedroom where they'd changed before making their way to the living room. There they had chosen a random chick flick and Rachel had gotten up to make popcorn when Judy had walked into the living room.
The older blonde had been surprised (happy but still surprised) at how joyous her youngest was. It wasn't until Rachel walked out of the kitchen with the popcorn, that Judy understood why Quinn was glowing. Because it was late, the mother of three had nodded towards Rachel and waved before retiring to bed; ecstatic that things were back on the right track.
The moment of quiet did not last long because Judy soon knocked on the door.
"Girls," Judy called, "breakfast is ready. I got called into the office last minute so I can't eat with you, but hopefully I'll see you soon."
Quinn opened her mouth to reply but was cut off by Rachel.
"Thanks, Judy," Rachel mentioned, "have a lovely day at work."
"Yeah, mom," Quinn added, "thank you."
Judy only chuckled from the other side of the door before bidding them a goodbye.
Once they were sure they were alone, Quinn turned to look at Rachel.
"Morning, beautiful," Quinn greeted, raking her eyes over Rachel.
"Morning, yourself," Rachel whispered. "How'd you sleep?"
"Better than I've had in a long time," Quinn confessed.
"Me too," Rachel whispered.
Slowly the brunette sat up stretching, as she did her shirt rode up and Quinn's eyes locked onto the exposed portion of skin. Her show didn't last long because Rachel was soon standing and rolling Quinn's chair towards her.
"No," Quinn said, "I wanna try walking to the kitchen."
Rachel quirked her eyebrow before she asked: "Are you sure? I don't want you to push yourself, Quinn."
"I'm positive," Quinn answered.
"Don't over exert yourself," Rachel warned, "it will only set you back."
"Rach," Quinn stated, "I'm feeling great, but the moment I falter you can bring the chair, okay?"
"Fine," Rachel conceded, as she watched Quinn struggle to her feet. She was very tempted to ignore Quinn's rules and just roll her out, but she respected the blonde wishes and did as she said.
The walk to the kitchen was taken slow, Rachel walking slightly behind Quinn but not hovering, knowing the blonde would not appreciate that. Once they reached the kitchen, Quinn sat down—per Rachel's request—while Rachel moved their plates towards the table. They ate in quietness, no words needed to be shared at the moment.
"We should talk," Quinn brought up as she swallowed the last piece of her breakfast.
Rachel nodded. "Yes we should."
"Do you want to go first or should I?" Quinn mentioned.
"I think I should go first," Rachel answered.
"Okay," Quinn said. "Let's start with the absurd story you told me the night of Puck's party. What was that about?"
Rachel winced and bit her lip as she focused on reigning in the wolf that become upset at the uncertainty of Quinn's belief.
"That wasn't a story, Quinn," Rachel supplied. "That was true."
"Rachel," Quinn laughed, "I don't want to fight, but please don't lie to me."
"I'm not lying, Quinn," Rachel sighed. "I'm really not."
Quinn took a moment to look deeply in Rachel's eyes. Her body language and assertive voice indicated that the little star was not lying. But the story seems like such a stretch that Quinn couldn't bring herself to believe it. She was saved from answering when Rachel's phone chimed with a new message.
Taking a moment to breathe, Rachel looked at her phone. She found at text from Tina asking for her presence at her home. They were ready to talk about the problems and Sugar had brought Harmony and they were waiting on her and on Gabrielle. She fired off a quick reply before looking at the blonde. Immediately Quinn could tell something had shifted.
"Rach," Quinn whispered taking a hold of the brunette's hand. "What's going on?"
"I need to go," Rachel answered, "they need me for a few things."
"Oh," Quinn exclaimed disappointed. "I guess you should go then…we can talk about what happened later…"
Rachel was about to nod and agree when she decided that if Quinn didn't believe her, maybe she'd understand if she saw the others.
"No," Rachel said, "C'mon, let's get dressed and then we'll leave. After all I promised I'd explain this to you."
"You sure?" Quinn questioned, already starting to stand so she could walk back to her room.
"Yes," Rachel confirmed. "Here, let me help you."
This time, Quinn allowed Rachel to help her—because she feared that might be the last time.
"She did?" Tina asked. "And?"
Charlie shrugged. "And what?"
"Are they back together?" Miley questioned.
Charlie shrugged again. "I don't know."
"They better be back together," Sam mumbled. "God, knows what a pain they were…"
And others laugh agreeing (with the exception of Harmony, who's trying not to squirm from the glares she's receiving).
The room settled into a quiet environment before Mikayla broke it.
"Okay," The Latina Alpha moaned, "can someone please call her?"
She wanted to leave. She itched to shower. She felt that Mitchie's scent was drowning her and that the moment the attention was drawn from Harmony it would be on her. She feared that her pack would immediately smell the witch on her.
"I got it," Brittany mentioned, already dialing the other wolf's phone. However, the ringtone could be heard within the space followed by Quinn's voice.
"Aren't you going to get that?"
Rachel's voice echoed back an answer.
"Nah, its Brittany and knowing her, she's probably already inside."
There was a jingle of keys before a sigh and then Rachel opened the door.
"When I told you where the spare key was, I was expecting you'd remember to lock the door after using it," Rachel commented walking into her living room with Quinn rolling herself in behind. "Morning, by the way."
There was a chorus of "good mornings, morning, hello, hey" 's back.
Taking an empty seat on the corner of the couch, Rachel flopped down. She beckoned Quinn forward and slowly but surely, the blonde ended up on Rachel's lap.
"So," Rachel started speaking and turned to face Harmony. "Start speaking."
The room grew silent and both packs turned to look at Rachel, blinking owlishly.
"Did I stutter?" Rachel asked. "I said start talking."
"Rach," Blaine questioned glancing at Quinn on his alpha's lap. "Umm…"
"She's here to listen," Rachel clarified. "If you'd like Kurt to know, now would be the moment to call him. Santana and Mike are more than welcome to join. And Sam," she turned to him. "I don't know where you and Mercedes stand, but it's up to you."
The room was silent once more, all the members of the packs looking confused at the smaller brunette.
"Rachel," Mikayla growled, suddenly infuriated she hadn't been warned about the change of plans. "A world, please. Alone."
The living room was quickly becoming the new library with the amount of times and how quickly it became quiet.
"Can someone please tell me what's going on?" Quinn questioned extremely confused. She knew Rachel was friends with everyone in the room, but Harmony? She hadn't seen the girl for a good few weeks. She was positive Sugar and she had broken up.
No one made a noise nor a move to answer Quinn's question. The shorthaired blonde sighed and took her time looking over every single person in the living room. Some of the wolves (Taylor, Dallas, Tess, Brittany, and Tina) met her gaze while others cowered away (Sam, Blaine, and Jesse). When her eyes landed on Charlie, Quinn turned towards her sister.
"Charles?"
Charlie gave her a tight lipped smile and Quinn's hope fell.
"I can't say anything," Charlie confessed, "but whatever happens, hear them out fully before saying anything. I mean that Quinn, I really do."
Quinn opened her mouth to reply when the doorbell rang interrupting her and causing Charlie and herself to jump. Meanwhile the majority of the wolves let out a growl, which made Quinn raise her eyebrows in alarm and shock. Seeing the reaction garnered, Charlie took it upon herself to open the door. When the older Fabray opened the door, she looked unimpressed while Quinn was confused to why a Cheerio was at Rachel's house.
"I'm sorry," Gabrielle announced. "I'm looking for Rachel…is she here?"
Charlie gestured her in and Gabrielle slowly made her way into the living room already becoming overwhelmed by all the different smells she was picking up.
"She's outside," Charlie mentioned, "but she'll be in shortly."
Meeting Harmony's gaze, Gabrielle nodded and took a seat next to her best friend only to be hissed and glared at by the other wolves.
"You reek of Puckerman," Miley stated, not trying to hide the snide in the comment.
Gabrielle blushed ashamed at the obviousness in her attire. The other pack members tried not to think or look too much into the possibility of Gabrielle trying to turn Puck against them. Quinn didn't know what to say and didn't feel like being the center of attention once again so she remained quiet even though she was dying to know the big secret. (Though, she was beginning to think of what the answer was—she tried to not think of that prospect.)
Charlie cleared her throat after minutes of silence and announced in a mumble: "I'll go get them."
She may have known about supernatural beings for a very long time, but she hated how tense it was becoming in the room.
"What the fuck, Rachel?" Mikayla hissed, as to not draw attention from inside. "Don't you think you could have run the idea by me? I mean outing us? Really? You were ready to out all of us. And while you're allowed to do whatever you want when it comes to your pack, you had no right to begin to even cross that line without my consent. Did you ever think, that I might not be okay with that?"
"You smell like her, you know?" Rachel commented, brushing off for the moment the other Alpha's words. "Monroe's scent is all over you, not basking you like Santana's on Brittany, or Taylor's on Dallas, but more like Quinn's is on me…it's subtle even."
Mikayla's gaze narrowed, not knowing where Rachel's train of thought was going.
"I'm not going to tell your pack," Rachel continued. "Although they should be able to figure it out by themselves. I do, however, owe you an apology. You're right. This was a decision that I should have included you in. If you still wish to not be revealed, then I'll tell Quinn later."
Mikayla sighed and groaned as she rubbed her temples. She was getting a migraine and that made it even harder for the Latina to mull over the possible outcomes if she relented.
"Okay…" came her answer.
"Okay?"
"Yes, okay," Mikayla conceded, praying that she was doing right by her pack. "Let's tell her and on extension Santana, Kurt, and Mike and possibly Mercedes. I trust you Rachel, so if you think she deserves to know then I trust you enough to tell her."
Rachel smiled gratefully and nodded. She turned only to be met with Charlie who addressed both of them about the arrival of Gabrielle.
"Now someone better explains to me why I'm here of all places with all of you instead of with my family," Santana greeted as she walked into the living room followed by Kurt and Mercedes. "And in addition why I had to allow Lady Lips and Tater-Tots to ride with me?"
Mike shrugged having only arrived a few minutes after Gabrielle. He sat next to Tina and the wolves, and Charlie didn't say anything either.
"Quinn?" Mercedes asked.
Quinn shrugged as well and answered truthfully. "I don't know."
"Well I'd appreciate if one of you explained, why we're here," Kurt stated. "Or at least offered us something to drink."
"Take a seat," Rachel ordered walking into the room, Mikayla one step behind her. "This is going to be a long talk."
"Oh dear hell no," Santana groaned, standing up from Brittany's lap. "If this is a fucking glee meeting, I'm leaving right now!"
"Sit down," Mikayla demanded, her voice changing towards a more dominant tone—shocking Quinn, Mike, Mercedes, Kurt and Santana, who'd never heard her like that. "Now. How do you wanna do this?"
The question was directed at Rachel (who hadn't moved to sit towards Quinn, but instead remained next to Mikayla). Rachel took a moment to think it over, she looked at every single member of her pack and saw nothing but trust and compliance; before her eyes landed on Quinn, who honestly, looked a bit frightened over what was going on, but mostly just confused. Rachel locked eyes with Mikayla's brown ones before gesturing with a slight jerk of her head towards Harmony and Gabrielle who sat away from the rest of the wolves.
Mikayla quirked an eyebrow: "You sure?"
"What would you suggest?" Rachel mentioned. "You trust me, Mikayla. And I trust you, this conversation involves both of us: so I want your opinion to have as much as an impact as mine."
The Latina glowed inside with the admission of trust, but her stony face didn't change. She was pissed and cranky at the moment and those emotions would help fuel her for the interrogation that was bound to happen—it also didn't help that her wolf was growing restless.
"Should I do the honors or you?" Mikayla asked, in the end Rachel and her were equals.
Rachel smirked. "Why don't you?"
"It'd be my pleasure," Mikayla answered, before turning her gaze towards Taylor and Dallas. "I want them on their knees in front of us."
Standing from their places on the ground in front of both Alphas, Taylor and Dallas made their way over to the two outcast wolves. Dallas stood directly over Gabrielle and jerked her head, and the cheerleader shakily got to her feet. Taylor tried to do the same with Harmony, but Sugar growled when Taylor's presence loomed over Harmony. That reaction caused Dallas to turn towards Sugar and emit a similar noise.
"Sugar," Rachel commanded, "back down."
"Dallas," Mikayla mimicked. "Now. On their knees."
"Rachel," Sugar rumbled—she might not trust Harmony, but the other girl was her soul mate and her genetics were insisting on protecting the other wolf.
Rachel raised her hand in a stopping motion. She watched as both girls came to a rest in front of her and were pushed down to their knees, Taylor and Dallas holding them down. Mikayla nodded allowing them to stand behind her.
"Rachel," Sugar snarled, not liking how things were being played out.
"No permanent harm will come to your mate, Sugar," Rachel stated and looked both girl's in her eyes. "To either of you. But know this—if you lie to any of us about anything that we are about to ask. You better pray that there's someone looking out for you."
"Rach?" Quinn's voice trembled. "What's going on?"
And for the first time, Rachel shook herself out of her role in the pack and took the moment to observe what was going on. Quinn, sat slightly scared—but interested in what was going on, Santana's eyes were wide in shock, Mike looked on with interest, and Kurt and Mercedes didn't know what to make of the situation.
"We're about to find out," Rachel answered, redirecting her attention back to the two girls on their knees. "Now, where were we?"
"Who do you work for?" Mikayla asked, her stare locked directly onto them.
Gabrielle cautiously raised her head and met full on the other wolf's eyes. She cowered when Mikayla's eyes glowed a gold causing her own to flash their bright green.
"Holy fuck!" Santana's voice squeaked. "What the hell was that?"
Both pack's attention was drawn to the Latina and suddenly Santana was hiding behind Brittany.
"This clearly is not working," Mikayla commented. "Tell them and then we can continue this."
Rachel nodded in agreement, but turned for a moment towards the two girls in front of them.
"I appreciate the fact that you two are willing to come clean," Rachel informed. "However, I do not trust either of you at the moment, so understand that what I am about to ask of my pack is for our safety. And if I see you argue and lash out against it, then I will be forced to take graver decisions."
Harmony swallowed but nodded and Gabrielle answered for both of them. "We understand."
"Good," Rachel said. "Sugar, Brittany…tie them up. Sam, Blaine can you help Quinn downstairs, we're taking them down to the gym. The rest of you if you can follow, Mikayla and I will be right down."
"What!" Kurt exclaimed, while Sugar and Brittany walked up to the two girls kneeled down in front of them.
Harmony was gently, but still swiftly pulled up by Sugar (immediately looked over for signs of harm) and Gabrielle was also painlessly jerked up by Brittany.
"Kurt," Mikayla mentioned, giving the flamboyant boy a glare that left no room to argue. "You'll see downstairs."
The boy looked put off but he wished to stay alive and slowly made his way down where the rest of them had already made it downstairs. Mikayla turned to Rachel and quirked an eyebrow.
"Trust me?" Rachel questioned.
The Latina Alpha nodded. "I do."
"Okay, what the fuck is going on?" Santana asked looking around the now crowded basement.
"Yah," Mercedes chimed in as she squirmed in the new seat. "Y'all into drugs or something?"
"If that's the case then I want no part in it," Kurt followed up.
Rachel took her time and observed her home gym; her pack (plus Charlie) and Mikayla's pack hovered around the big couch where Mercedes, Kurt, Santana, Quinn and Mike sat. Harmony and Gabrielle sat on the floor in front of Mikayla and her, their hands tied behind their backs and their feet also tied.
She cleared her throat before she calmly informed, "We're about to tell you."
"This ain't some orgy shit right? Cause Q, I love you and all but I don't want to know all the kinky-nasty shit you and Berry do under the sheets," Santana grimaced.
The wolves (with the exception of Harmony and Gabrielle) snorted and the humans (minus Quinn) looked sort of disgusted by the thought. Quinn hoped that death by embarrassment was not an actual thing, she also hoped that she'd eventually stop being beet-red.
Rachel rolled her eyes and turned to look at Santana. "Before I was interrupted, I was about to say that I ask two things of you. One, that whatever is said is to be kept confidential, that means you cannot tell anyone—ever. Two, that you don't say anything until we're done. We want to explain ourselves fully, but we can't if you refuse to listen. Can I ask that from the five of you?"
Mercedes, Kurt, Santana and Quinn nodded hesitant to what was to be said.
"Mike?" Mikayla probed turning to the Asian dancer.
"Whatever you have to say is obviously important and personal, so clearly it's of concern. And you're trusting us enough to know, so the least we can do is respect your rules," Mike explained. "I've known most of you for a long time, you're my family and I trust Tina with my life, so if she's opening up then I trust all of you by extension."
"Tina," Miley mentioned. "Have I mentioned that your boyfriend is amazing because he is?"
The wolves laughed and Tina smirked as she leaned over and planted a kiss on Mike's cheek.
The basement was once again quiet while Rachel and Mikayla gathered their thoughts. Not one person made a move to push both women, not even Harmony and Gabrielle who were begging to get restless.
"Okay," Rachel started after a moment, "I want everyone upstairs except Mike, Tina, Brittany, Dallas and Taylor."
The wolves nodded and Santana, Mercedes, and Kurt wanted to complain about being dragged up and down, but a glare from both Alphas stopped them.
"So?" Mikayla asked looking at Mike and their second in commands. "Now what?"
"Taylor, Dallas I want you next to Tina. Brittany, a step away from Mike okay? And Tina," Rachel directed, "I want you to shift."
"What?" Tina gasped. "Rachel?"
"Tina, do you trust me?"
"Yes…I do, you know that," the raven haired girl stated.
"Then trust me," Rachel said. "I want you to shift, I know you can control yourself enough. And I know you want to know, if it's meant to be, we'll stop you."
Tina nodded but her posture slumped and her gaze was moved to the floor.
"T?" Rachel whispered.
"What if it's not meant to be?" Tina murmured. "I don't think I could handle it, if it wasn't meant to be."
"We'll get through it together," Rachel answered. "You're not alone, Tina."
"Okay," Tina conceded. "Okay."
Mike didn't say anything as he watched the dynamic played out in front of him. His arms did ache to wrap around Tina's slumped posture, but he did not move. Hesitantly he watched Tina take a deep breath before she stepped back behind Taylor and Dallas. The sounds of clothing hit the floor caught Mike's attention, and suddenly Tina was standing in her undergarments behind both tall girls, the teenage boy blushed and shifted his gaze to the floor.
The next noise made Mike cringe. It was the sounds of bones cracking and the sounds of whimpered sobs being choked back. His eyes widened as he took in the new form in front of him and his mouth dropped in shock. In front of him where Tina had stood not even two minutes before, stood a large black wolf with lilac eyes.
Tina gasped as she felt herself come apart and reform. Her muscles ached as they transformed into her new states. She hated shifting, her eyes gathered the tears that would never fall. As she came to from the change her senses were overwhelmed, overwhelmed by too many scents, but one was overpowering the rest quickly. It smelt divine to the black wolf, it made her drool, and her eyes immediately sought out the source of the smell.
Mike's mouth was still open and his eyes couldn't take in the new animal. Tina never thought he'd looked so lovely. She felt a feral possessive growl rip out from her throat and suddenly Rachel's voice was echoed off the walls.
"Tina, stop!"
But Tina could not and did not want to stop, she wanted to mark what was hers. Mike was hers, not Rachel's not anyone else's. She wanted him and she was going to get him, not matter what.
"Taylor! Dallas!" Mikayla's voice ordered.
And abruptly Tina's body was thrown up against a wall. Taylor and Dallas circling the wolf, who growled in an attempt to leap over them. Dallas and Taylor's gentle and warm nature was gone replaced by a strong and animalistic glow.
Mike stood in shock at everything that had happened. His mind could not quite wrap around the events he'd just witnessed.
"Brittany," Rachel spoke, seeing Tina's attempts start to lash out. "Take him upstairs and have Charlie look over him. Make sure Jesse is near her, it'll calm Jesse down when he finds out what how Mike found out. And Britt?"
Tina's growls still bounced off the walls; Taylor, Dallas, and Mikayla doing everything to push the wolf back.
"Yes?" Brittany asked.
"It's up to you who's next," Rachel whispered. "If you want Santana to know, next okay. If you want it to be Mercedes or Kurt, that's okay. And if you don't want to find, you don't have too…tell Sam and Blaine the same. Quinn will be last for other reasons."
The baby-blue eyed blonde nodded and slowly, she took a hold of Mike's upper arm and helped him up the stairs.
Rachel turned to look at the agitated black wolf that became more aggressive with the site of her mate leaving and took in Mikayla, Taylor, and Dallas's states. She was going to need more help, but she couldn't send Tina up quite yet.
"Tina," Rachel ordered, catching the wolf's attention. "Look at me!"
The wolf ignored her, choosing to whine out a bark. Rachel, had no time to deal with a reluctant wolf. So she grabbed the wolf's muzzle and forced lilac eyes to meet her golden orbs.
"You are to go out on a run and if I see you even think about coming back, there will be consequences to pay. Cool off and come back when you can control yourself."
The black wolf growled again, but Rachel paid no attention to it and opened the door to the outside exit for runs. Tina's form took off the moment she could and didn't look back and Rachel sighed. Mikayla's hand landed on her shoulder and Rachel turned to look at her.
"I'm sorry," Rachel confessed as she saw the small gash on Mikayla's temple. "I should have thought this through better."
Mikayla shook her head, and waved her off. "Sometimes these are the only ways to guarantee complete trust…although, you might owe Dallas a new shirt."
"And a new hoodie," Dallas added, looking at her two superiors. "Both are slightly shredded and tainted in red."
Dallas's shirt was stuck to her torso, red starting to drench it from the gashes Tina's claws had left. Taylor, was wrapping them with medical gauze and cutting off pieces of the sweatshirt that had melded into the skin.
"Who's next?" Taylor asked, as she finished up her work.
Rachel shrugged as they waited for the next person to come down the stairs.
Britany came back a few minutes later, behind her came a worried looking Kurt and trailing further behind was Blaine.
"Where's Tina?" Kurt asked. "And why did Mike look like he'd seen a ghost? And oh my god, is that blood?"
"Kurt," Mikayla interrupted. "Stop and sit."
"Blaine," Rachel spoke after. "Do you want to know?"
The curly haired boy nodded.
"And you understand the consequences to both possible answers."
Another nod.
"Alright then," Rachel mentioned. "Dallas this time, I want you next to Kurt. Britt—you, Taylor, and Mikayla will hold Blaine back if need be. Blaine, you know what to do…"
A scream came from downstairs and the wolves all turned their heads away from the basement door. In the kitchen Mike sat in front of Charlie, doing basic exercises to give the blonde medical student an idea of how much shock the boy was in. In the living room Quinn, Mercedes, and Santana sat on the couch nervously looking around and murmuring within themselves about what was happening downstairs—they didn't hear Kurt's scream, or the scuffle between a wolf and four wolves in human form.
Jesse bit his lip and clenched both his fists from next to Charlie.
"You're going to break skin," Charlie commented as she followed through another exercise with Mike.
"How can you be so calm?" Jesse hissed, as he cringed at another command from Rachel and a growl from Blaine. "She's being reckless."
"She's doing what she thinks is best," Charlie clarified. "And she's not making you do it."
"I would never risk your life like that," Jesse argued.
"You know you wouldn't hurt me if it happened," Charlie pointed out.
"You don't know that," Jesse huffed.
"I do actually," Charlie said. "There's two possible scenarios. One—nothing would happen, you'd find out I'm not your mate. Or two—your hormones and genetics would kick in and you'd want to claim me. So no, you wouldn't hurt me."
Jesse frowned, and tightly (but still not enough to hurt her) pulled Charlie away from Mike and closer to him. He lowered his head and whispered in her ear.
"Why are you arguing with me about this, Charlie?"
"Why are you afraid of your wolf?" Charlie countered, placing her hand on top of his chest. "It's a part of you, a part of who you are. I love you Jesse, all of you. That includes the part of you that's a little bit furry and big."
"I can hurt someone Charlie," Jesse whimpered. "I don't want that someone to be you."
"You won't hurt me Jesse," Charlie answered. "Not in your manner of thinking at least."
"You're not going to drop this are you?" Jesse said.
"Nope, not at all," Charlie laughed, turning back to Mike. "Can I ask you something?"
"You already, did…but anything," Jesse teased.
"Would it be so bad if I wanted to find out?" Charlie questioned, stopping her work on Mike and gave Jesse her full attention.
"You want to know?" Jesse mumbled.
"Yes, I do, Jesse," Charlie confessed. "I really do."
"Not tonight," Jesse stated and watched Charlie's face fall. "But maybe some time soon…I need to think about it and what it means for us. You'll really need to think about it, I'll give it some thought, if you promise you'll do the same."
Charlie smiled and nodded. She turned and gave Jesse a small sweet peck on his lips before they were interrupted by some shrieks from the living room.
"Fucking hell, Dallas!" Santana shouted, looking at the other Latina who was carrying a passed out Kurt. "What happened to you?"
Charlie and Jesse entered the living room from where they were attending to Mike, and took in the sight. Dallas stood near one of the couches with Kurt (who had fainted after Blaine's transformation), Sam moving to help her settle down the boy on the couch. But what caught the older Fabray's attention was the gauze (tainted slightly pinkish-red) on the brunette's torso.
"I'm fine, I can feel the healing already," Dallas answered, directing her statement to Charlie. "Kurt fainted the moment Blaine changed. I actually was sent up to get Mercedes and you know, ask you if you'd mind checking over Kurt."
Charlie sighed. "You do know I'm studying to be a pediatrician, right?"
Dallas smirked back and chuckled. "Will you?"
"Set him on the couch," Charlie ordered and turned to Jesse. "Can you get me a cold rag, and some strong pepper from the kitchen?"
Jesse nodded and made his way to the kitchen hearing Charlie tell him to send Mike in as well.
"Did he hit his head?" Charlie analyzed, running her hands through Kurt's hair, making sure there was no bump or gash.
"Nope," Dallas answered. "I was right behind him. I need to get back down there. Sam are you coming?"
Sam shook his head. "I'm not ready to know…is there anything else I can do?"
Dallas gave him a small smile and nodded. "I'll tell Rachel. We're going to be quite hungry, can you order us something to eat?"
"Our regular, plus whatever they want, on it," Sam agreed.
"Mercedes," Dallas asked turning towards the other girl. "You ready?"
"You're not going to murder me are you?" Mercedes laughed awkwardly, but not complete joking.
"I promise we won't," Dallas answered, "now come on."
"Brittany?" Rachel chuckled and the light gold wolf jerked her head up. "I think you broke her."
There was a bark that came from the wolf and laughter from Dallas, Taylor, and Mikayla.
"I'll take her upstairs," Rachel informed, "and I'm going to bring Sam down okay? I want him to be here in case things get heated. I'm going to bring Santana down next. Brittany, do you want this? Are you ready?"
The light gold wolf took a moment to look over Rachel. She was scared—terrified would be a better word in all honesty, but she was dying to know if Santana was her mate or not. Slowly, she nodded her head and Rachel shot her a smile before grabbing Mercedes and making her way upstairs.
"You are going to get back at me for all the years I was a bitch to you, aren't you?" Santana rambled as Sam and Rachel walked in front of her down the stairs. "I thought we moved past that, Rachel. I thought we were friends and we were making progress? Weren't we?"
"Santana, relax," Rachel mentioned rolling her eyes. "I'm doing this for your benefit not mine. Now I need you to be very careful and to listen to everything I am about to tell you. When you get down there, you're going to see something that is going to shock you."
Santana's eyes widened, she didn't know if that was a good or a bad thing, but nodded nonetheless.
"Good, now Brittany…well she's not really Brittany," Rachel explained slowly watching all the color drain from the Mexican's face. "She's not someone you're going to recognize, so I need you to do everything you can from reacting okay?"
"What did you do to her, Berry?" Santana hissed. "I swear if you hurt her, I will—"
A deeper growl stopped Santana's sentence, and the menace that was leaving her lips, left her throat. Across the stairs from where Santana stood, Rachel and Sam in front of her was Brittany's wolf. Mikayla, stood next to Taylor and Dallas who were wearily looking at Brittany, to insure that nothing rash would come from it.
Brittany regarded Santana with watchful eyes, her electric blue eyes followed the Latina's every movement and her mouth watered at the amazing scent that emanated from the Latina the moment her eyes had landed on her. It was taking every ounce of self-control the blonde had to hold back from jumping onto her mate and claiming her as so.
"Britt-Britt?" Santana gasped softly at the wolf that stood behind the other girls. "Is that really you?"
Brittany wanted to bark or jerk her head, but even allowing herself that little bit of freedom would cause all her self-control to be lost. So a tiny whine escaped her throat, but it was enough to catch all the other wolves' attention.
"Is she okay?" Santana asked worriedly, turning to Rachel and shaking the smaller brunette. "Is she in pain? Is she hurt?"
"Santana," Rachel interrupted the other teen. "I don't know, I think she is, but she's acting differently than the others. So I need you to relax and let me figure this out. Stay behind Sam."
Slowly, Rachel walked toward her second in command as well as one of her best friends.
"Brittany?" Rachel whispered coming to kneel in front of the light-colored wolf. "Can you answer me?"
Electric blue eyes met brown ones and they had a conversation between them.
"Are they not…" Sam trailed off not wanting to finish the statement.
Mikayla shook her head. "No, they are. Brittany's just demonstrating a great strength of self-control. One that took, Sugar months to learn."
"I got to give it to you, Britt," Taylor assured running a hand through Brittany's fur. "You're one hardass chick."
Dallas nodded from next to Taylor and petted the blonde's head.
"Brittany?" Rachel called drawing the attention back to the Alpha. "Can you change back? Can you do that?"
"No!" Santana exclaimed and all eyes landed on her. "I mean…Britt-Britt…can I come closer?"
"Santana, I don't think that's a good idea," Mikayla mentioned seeing Brittany freeze. "This is already extremely hard for Brittany. You being that close, might push her off the edge."
"She wouldn't kill me, Anderson," Santana scoffed before turning to the wolf. "Can I pet you, B?"
"It's up to you Britt," Rachel sighed. "Can you control yourself enough for that type of contact?"
Brittany mulled it over, every second she made sure not to pounce on her best friend hurt. And to have her come closer, she wasn't sure she could be able to stop herself.
"I trust you, B." Santana whispered. "I'd trust you to the end of the earth."
Slowly, Brittany nuzzled Rachel's hand before moving her head up and down. And carefully, Rachel gestured Sam over with Santana. As soon as the Latina came closer, Brittany let out another whine and Santana stopped moving. Once the whimpers stopped Santana moved closer and met Rachel next to Brittany.
"Here," Rachel murmured taking the other girls hand and settling against Brittany's muzzle.
Santana stared in awe as Brittany carefully licked her hand and allowed her to pet her. Rachel after a moment took a step back to allow the couple some privacy, and met her stare with Mikayla who looked just as impressed. After a few minutes of their barely their contact, Brittany took a step back and Santana was about to follow her when the sounds of cracking bones reached her eardrums.
Santana looked away too afraid of the noises to even sneak a peek, but suddenly Brittany's hand was intertwining with hers.
"Thank you for having that much faith in me," Brittany's soft voice said.
Santana turned to meet the baby-blue eyes she loved so much, they were slightly deeper due to the transition from wolf to human, but they were all Brittany. And for the first time, Santana found the feral aura that lay hidden deep within her girlfriend's gaze. She smiled softly and leant in to share a brief kiss.
"I would never doubt you, B," Santana replied, wrapping her arms around Brittany. "Nothing would ever change how much I believe in you—nothing ever. Thank you for trusting me enough to know."
Brittany smiled and ducked her head. She pulled Santana closer, smelling the familiar and now forever embedded smell. She took a deep breath filled with Santana before she remembered the others in the room.
"What's next, Rach?" Brittany questioned, yawning after.
"You should go up and rest," Rachel stated. "Sam ordered the pizzas, so they shouldn't be long. Quinn's the only one left to know and that's something I need to show her in private. So actually, if Quinn and I could have the basement alone."
"I'm not letting you do that," Mikayla argued. "I'll go up with all of them and bring Quinn down, but I'm staying."
Rachel for her part looked grateful and nodded as she prepared herself for what would follow.
"So don't take this the wrong way," Quinn trailed off, her arms wrapped around Mikayla's neck.
"Starting off on the wrong foot, Fabray," Mikayla answered maneuvering with the blonde in her arms down the stairs.
"Which is why I said don't take this the wrong way," Quinn replied rolling her eyes.
"That doesn't excuse the fact that you could potentially be saying something offensive, it's like the line 'don't be offended but'…"
"You two are surely going to drive someone crazy with how much you bicker," Rachel commented seeing both girls reach the bottom step.
Quinn huffed and Mikayla only shot the shorter girl a cheeky grin as she settled Quinn down on the couch in front of Rachel.
"All I was going to say is that you're really strong," Quinn added before turning to her…her girlfriend… "What's going on Rach?"
"You're about to find out," Rachel answered. "Mik, I think I have the control but just in case. Here, you'll know what to do."
The shorter brunette proceeded to toss a set of keys that belonged to one of the cages in the basement. The Latina alpha nodded catching the keys.
"Rach?" Quinn murmured slightly scared of what was to come.
"Quinn, do you trust me?" Rachel asked, kneeling in front of the blonde. She received a nod in response. "Then I need you to trust me right now. What I told you the night of Puck's party is true. All of if, no matter how crazy it sound, everything I said is the truth. I know it's a lot to believe specifically things regarding your accident, but I swear to God that everything I've told you is nothing but the truth."
Quinn swallowed as Rachel's brown eyes looked into her. She could feel the truth and earnestness leaking from Rachel's tone, but it was such an out there idea that it couldn't be real. Yet, here was the brunette begging her to believe and Quinn couldn't deny her that—could she?
"Now…" Rachel exhaled, before continuing. "Just know I love you."
"Rach—" but Quinn didn't finish because she pulled back at the sight of Rachel stripping off her shirt and jeans.
"Trust me," Rachel murmured as she took a deep breath simultaneously stepping back and closing her eyes.
As she inhaled, Rachel willed her form to change. She willed her wolf to come out and eased the thoughts in her mind. She calmed everything around her allowing just one thought to dominate her mind. One sentence that would determine her future. One sentence that became her mantra.
Don't hurt Quinn.
And when Rachel opened her eyes, she was slightly lower than a few moments ago and everything came in less flashy colors (a tone of more dulls, similar to actual dogs with black and white). However, the first thing her eyes landed on was Quinn. The blonde girl sat stunned a look of complete disbelief on her face. And Rachel frowned because she wasn't feeling the rush of air her pack mates seemed to have felt and that worried the brunette. She had sworn to herself that the girl across her was destined to be her mate. She had felt it and Rachel for her idea couldn't imagine why she wasn't feeling the rush of hormones.
Mikayla looked on with piqued interest and slight heartbreak. She could see the frantic thoughts rushing through the other Alpha's mind. She could feel the panic building under brown fur.
"Rachel?" Mikayla whispered.
And Rachel's wolf turned to look at the other girl, her golden orbs swarming with questions.
"It's going to be okay," Mikayla continued dropping closer to the wolf. "It's okay, we can make this work."
But Rachel shook her head, this wasn't fair. This wasn't supposed to be her reality. She was supposed to be fighting for control. She was supposed to be destined to spend her eternity with the blonde.
"Rachel," Mikayla tried but Rachel let out a whimper.
And with that whimper came a thundering of feet down the stairs. Tina (who'd finally come back from her run), Sam, Brittany (with a trailing Santana), Blaine, Sugar, Jesse and Charlie looked at the scene.
"What's happening?" Santana failed at whispering.
And Brittany swallowed looking at her heartbroken Alpha, Blaine and Sam looked shock while Tina swallowed and Jesse shook his head, Charlie watching the scene with sad eyes.
"They're not…"Brittany trailed off before she sighed. "They're not mates."
"Mates?" Santana questioned.
"It means they're not destined to be together for the rest of their lives," Mikayla informed.
"How?" Charlie pestered. "She was positive! I was positive! There has to be something stopping the genetic bond."
Mikayla shook her head as did Jesse.
"That's not how it works, Charles," Jesse stated, hugging his girlfriend. "If they were meant to be, Rachel would know."
"No," Charlie mentioned, "I refuse to give up on them. You know they're meant to be!"
Mikayla rubbed her temples at the growing noise, she let out a frustrate sigh.
"Whether they're meant to be or not we don't know!" Mikayla settled on answering. "Jesse is right under normal circumstances, however, there is a possibility that the bond is being interfered with."
At that all eyes in the room (minus Quinn, who's staring at Rachel, not fully understanding what's going on) land on her.
"Rach?" Quinn whispered from her place on the floor, she'd carefully slid herself in front of the brown wolf with sad eyes.
She got no answer in return, but she was expecting that.
"You were really telling me the truth," Quinn muttered. "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry for not believing you. God, I'm such a bitch."
Rachel only whined again, burrowing closer to Quinn. The blonde sobbed into the brown fur, hating the churning feelings in her stomach. Whining again, the Alpha wolf pulled away from Quinn and took a step back, beginning her shift back to human. Once she was shifted again, Rachel quietly got dressed allowing Mikayla's words to fully sink in.
"What do you mean?" Blaine questioned, once Rachel had come to join them (standing next to Mikayla who stood in between her and Quinn.)
Mikayla sighed once again before she closed her eyes and pinched her nose followed by turning to the rest of the people in the basement.
"There's been cases where a bond hasn't taken place because one of the mate has gone through a magical transition and the body hasn't rid itself of the magic or the magic has taken root with the body preventing a connection."
"You mean that Quinn's body is harnessing Monroe's magic?" Sam asked.
And the group turned to look at Quinn who looked up at her name. The blonde's eyes widened and suddenly she started assessing herself to see if any visible signs of magic were marking her.
Mikayla nodded before shaking her head. "I'm saying there's a possibility that could be happening. Clearly, we know Quinn was saved by Monroe the day of the car accident and because of that we can make a hypothesis that she still is keeping some of the magic within her."
"And this all theoretical," Rachel added, bringing her arms as if to hug herself.
"If this is true," Charlie drew out. "How would we go about reversing the magic effects?"
"I don't know…" Mikayla drifted off.
"Again, theoretical," Rachel prompted.
"I have an idea," Sugar mentioned. "You're not going to like it, but it's an idea."
"No," Sam and Blaine huffed.
"I wasn't asking you," Sugar snapped turning to look at Rachel and Mikayla.
Rachel let out a deep breath and shook her head and Mikayla watched them over with narrowed eyes.
"I'm not sure that's the best idea," Rachel said. "We might just as well accept the facts."
"Rachel," Quinn murmured. "Can we talk? About everything."
Rachel nodded, gesturing to the others that she wanted the room just for themselves. And hesitantly the other wolves left the basement Mikayla trailing behind enough so that her answer was carried out throughout the house.
"I'll ask," Mikayla stated. "I'm choosing to do this, Rachel. Monroe and I need to settle a few things. No questions asked. Now…let's eat and then get the answers we need. We'll wait for you upstairs."
