Nick slowly opened his eyes; letting out a groan of pain as he did. "What happen…?" He said, his voice cracking. Lita was seated next to him; afraid to touch him, she didn't want to hurt him anymore then he already was.

"You showed up at my friend- She shook her head and her eyes traveled up and down his body; looking at all the bloody gashes and bruises that could be seen. "how did this happen to you…?" She asked looking over all the injuries on his body. Nick's eyes flew open and he shot up, only to let out a hiss of pain as pain enveloped his whole body. Nick let himself fall back flat on the bed.

"I-I don't know… Lita?" He asked after a few seconds of silence; opening one eye and glancing over at Lita, a small smile appearing on his face. Lita felt her face go red as he smiled at her.

"Yeah, as she grabbed one of the towels and dipped it into the water; hissing as her fingertips touched the surface of the water.

"Geez that's freaking hot!" She said as she dropped the towel into the water and pulled her hand towards herself; blowing on her fingertips.

"God, Raye did you go down to hell to get this water," She said and then felt a smirk tug at her lips. "because I'm sure they'd welcome you with open arms." She said. Raye bit her lip so she wouldn't make a comment. She only rolled her eyes and set the bowl down on the nightstand next to her bed.

"Oh don't be such a baby," She said and then set a hand on her hip. "you asked for hot water and that's what you got." She said as she took a step back; arms crossed over her chest. Lita murmured under her breath as she poked the towel into the water so not to burn her fingers again, which was a task in it's self.

"So what happen…?" Mina asked from her spot; leaning against the wall now. Nick took in a breath and then let it out as he laid there.

"Fought a Youma," He said. "trying to get to someone." He said and he really hoped that they wouldn't poke any further and just leave it at that, but that would just be to easy…

"Why were you fighting a Youma?" Mina asked and then brushed some stray hair behind her ear.

"I mean I thought those little freaks were your minions, or something…" She said; her statement getting a few hard looks from her friends. Mina shrugged.

"Well it's true, they are." She said simply. Nick slightly shook his head.

"Not anymore…" He said and then he let out a tired sigh. "Not for me anyway…" He thought to himself, but wasn't going to say it aloud; not wanting to freak the girls out anymore then they already were.

Lita rung out the water from the towel and pulled it towards her. "Now this is probably gonna sting…" She warned before she placed the towel against one of the gashes; which in fact it did sting, no probably about it.

"Damn that hurts!" He said through clenched teeth. Lita nodded.

"Well duh," She said. "I did give you fair warning though…" She said with a small laugh. Nick sucked in a big breath and held it to the point of him feeling light headed.

"Y-yeah I suppose you did…" He said; voice wheezing out slightly. After that Lita went to work to cleaning all the cuts and gashes that peppered his chest, torso, arms and hands. She was finishing wrapping the last bandage on his hand when there was a knock at the door. Raye walked over and opened the door slowly.

"What is it- Darien what are you doing here…?" She asked. Darien stood outside; awkwardly scratching the back of his head.

"I need to talk to you, Raye." He said. Serena let out a sigh and stood up walking over to the door so that she could be seen.

"We're a little busy at the moment, Darien." She said and then looked over at Raye and set a hand on her shoulder.

"You think you could reschedule your discussion for another time?" She asked with a tight smile; it really bugging her that Darien was always showing up at the most inconvenient time. Raye swallowed and nodded as she saw Serena's expression from the corner of her eye; the look in her eye hard and slightly murderous.

"Yeah sorry but we've got some stuff going on, Darien. I don't have time to talk." She said and went to close the door, but was stopped by Darien's hand.

"Wow wait a minute," He said and then looked over at Serena. "I know that you and I aren't talk right now, but that doesn't mean you get to boss everyone around." He said. Serena let out a snort.

"All I said is that we're to busy for you and Raye to have five minute discussion-" She said, but was interrupted.

"Yeah that's all its gonna take," He said. "just give me five minutes." He said. Serena laughed and rolled her eyes.

"I think it is so sweet that you think the 'discussion' is gonna last five minutes," She said. "I'm sure the 'discussion' is gonna be long over before that." She said. Darien blinked; his expression changing from irritation to completely confused in a matter of seconds.

"Wait, what?" He asked. A burst of giggles filled the room and even Raye couldn't help but crack a small smile at that. Serena bit back a giggle and then cleared her throat.

"Nothing," She said and then looked towards his hand that was holding the door open. "now would you please remove your hand so that Raye can close the door. This discussion is private." She said. Darien shook his head.

"Now what what are you trying to imply?" He asked his voice rising with anger.

Serena shook her head, not playing into his game, and said, "I'm not trying to imply anything," She gave her a hard look. "What I'm trying to say that what we are discussing is private," She said. "in other words; no outsiders allowed." She finished off. Darien's eyes opened wide and his hand went limb at the word 'outsiders'. The door closed with a click and the sound frightened Darien back to his senses; as if the sound of the door closing was a wake up call. "This really can't be the end can it...?" He thought to himself as he turned and made his way outside; his eyes seeing nothing but the bitter blackness that his world had taken…

I know I haven't updated in quite sometime, but there is a reason for that; family problems, writers block, working and moving have really cut into my time for the past few years.
