The scene was set; A beautiful day complete with sunshine, not a single cloud in the sky. About 150 evenly spaced out white chairs in rows before a perfect country backdrop. Flowers were fully in bloom, most of which were placed lovingly and wisely throughout an arch that was standing alone at the end of the middle aisle, dividing the chair placement in half. On one side of the aisle were the chairs for the bride and the other lay the chairs for the groom.
Not that any of that mattered. Oh no. The only important factor in my impending wedding was that I was nearly unable to fit into my wedding dress. No big deal. I was merely carrying a demon baby inside of my womb, which apparently grew abnormally fast in comparison to humans, and due to my child's ability to grow quickly, my dress was about ready to rip in half and fall off of my body. But it was going to be okay. I wasn't going to panic. Nope. The doctors told me that even though I was only a few months along, panicking would only negatively impact my pregnancy. Therefore, no panicking. Nope. None whatsoever. I looked at myself in the mirror.
"Oh my God. I look like a whale." I wailed loudly to Kagome, who was standing behind me and buttoning up the last of my dress.
"It's fine, Rin. Just try not to breathe so much and I'm sure you'll walk down the aisle just fine." She tugged harder on the dress, successfully buttoning another button into place. "God, why don't they just come out with Spanx for expectant mothers?!" I laughed hysterically, looking any place but the mirror in front of me.
"Look, I'm sure it'll be just fine. Besides, Sesshomaru knows what you look like naked, so you know, if your dress falls off halfway down the aisle, at least he already knows what he's getting into." I wailed louder, tears springing to my eyes as well as a new found fear.
Would my dress really split in half while I was walking down the aisle? Oh God, oh God, oh God.
"I'm sorry, that was a terrible joke." Kagome grabbed my shoulders, shaking me slightly. "Relax, Rin. I swear to you, it'll be okay. You'll get through the ceremony in about twenty minutes tops and then you can change into your other dress for the reception, alright?" I nodded my head, eager for the other dress already. "Besides, if you wanted to use the dress you just bought, I don't think Sesshomaru would care. He just wants you to be happy, alright?"
"I can do this. I will march down that aisle in my wedding dress, dammit. I've been eyeing this dress for the better part of a year and I'll be damned if I don't wear it."
With one final huff, Kagome buttoned up my dress entirely, sighing in satisfaction when the deed was done. Placing her hands on her hips she eyed my reflection in the mirror.
"You look stunning, Rin." I smiled happily, patting the edge of my eyelashes to keep any stray tears from falling and ruining my makeup. "Seriously, I can't even tell you had to squeeze into the damn thing. That's always a good sign, right?"
I breathed quickly and very shallowly, knowing a full breath would probably bust my beautiful gown wide open in a matter of seconds.
"Okay?" Kagome asked, placing a reassuring hand on my shoulder.
"Okay." I replied. "I'm ready."
As soon as the doors opened to lead outside and to my wedding, guests began to stand. I ignored most of the humbled reactions from the crowd, knowing if I listened to much to their soft murmurs I might hear something negative and become even more nervous.
Music begins to play as I slowly make my way to the silk white that covers the grass, leading me straight to him; Sesshomaru. I clutch the bouquet in my hand, my nerves almost ripping it in half. Taking as deep a breath as I can manage in the dress I've forced on, I look up and my breath catches for an entirely different reason.
Sesshomaru, demon or man, is the most handsome person my eyes have ever settled on. His face is stoic, which is usual in front of anyone other than myself, but all I need to do is stare into his eyes and I know. They shine molten gold, the love I see in his eyes meet mine and our mutual love reflects back at each other, as corny as that sounds.
Before I realize it, I'm all the way down the aisle, the bouquet is handed to Kagome, my maid of honor, and my hands are resting comfortably in Sesshomaru's almost as if he's been holding them all along. Our eyes lock and my heart skips a beat before settling into an intense rhythm, completely blown away by the demon before me.
The man standing slightly in front of us continues his talking, but I'm too focused on the demon before me to hear much of what he says. The man clears his throat, dragging my attention reluctantly to him as he gazes at me expectantly.
The man smiles slightly and with a slight chuckle repeats, "I said, do you, Rin Higurashi, Take Lord Sesshomaru of the Western Lands to be your beloved husband?"
Maybe it's the hormones from pregnancy, but my eyes fill with tears as I give a watery smile to Sesshomaru. "I do."
The man turns to Sesshomaru. "Do you, Lord Sess-"
"Yes." Sesshomaru practically hisses out before he reaches for me, dragging me to him as his lips tenderly meet mine.
The crowd cheers as the minister laughs and says loudly, "I now pronounce you husband and wife." and that's all I hear before the noise is drowned out by the lips that are growing more harsh and demanding on my own. I break apart before I get too turned on, laughing when Sesshomaru growls lowly in my ear.
"Come on, Sesshomaru. We have to mingle with people for the rest of the reception, then you can have your way with me." His face remains impassive yet his eyes are alive with irritation.
"If you had merely accepted a mating ritual I would already have you spread beneath me." The words are whispered hotly against my ear as his arms wrap protectively around me, bringing my slightly swollen stomach even further into his embrace.
"Yes, but luckily for me, you were in need of a human and since no one else could stand you, you had to make me every wedding fantasy come true."
Licking my ear, Sesshomaru growls and nips the lobe gently. "Is that so?"
"Yes," I whisper back to him. "Thank the gods you're loaded otherwise I don't think I could put up with you for the rest of my life."
Sesshomaru takes a quick step back, smirking before he takes me hand and tugs me gently through the crowd of people, ignoring most of their shouts of congratulations. We make our way through the throng of people before a limousine comes into view and we both get inside. I wave at my friends one last time before the door is shut and Sesshomaru has me pinned to the seat, his body pressed comfortably on top of mine.
"I believe we must consummate our vows before you plot spending all of my vast wealth." His breath is hot on my skin, his lips pressing along the column of my throat.
I moan lowly at the feel of his silken lips on my skin. "Is that how this works? I had no idea," I joke before he bites down on the mating mark that has been left in plain view due to my strapless wedding dress. He lifts his head and our eyes collide. "You know I love you, right?"
"I will love you until my last breath." Sesshomaru replies before silencing my next words with a kiss.
The limousine rolls to a slow stop sometime a little later and my cheeks turn a terrible shade of red when I realize I have just had sex with my husband while someone else was in the vehicle with us.
Sesshomaru glances my way, smirking knowingly at my discomfort. I roll my eyes. Of course he finds amusement in a situation like this. OF COURSE.
Sesshomaru grabs the door handle and pushes the car door open, grabbing ahold of my hand and gently pulling me out along with him, careful to not step on the long skirt of my dress as we both exit the vehicle.
I look around momentarily confused, expecting to see the building the reception is being held in. Instead, I find myself staring at trees that seem to be surrounding us. The trees seem to be nearly endless until my eyes find a brand new, mansion of a house staring back at me. My first thought is, 'How the hell did I miss that?!' followed by the sinking suspicion that I've locked eyes on our house. But surely it isn't. It can't be. I had been under the impression we were renovating a house, not creating one from scratch.
I look at Sesshomaru, momentarily speechless.
"I don't understand," I say dumbly a few moments later as the shock begins to wear off.
"I know you had selected a home, but I wanted to give you more. This is my wedding gift to you. Is it acceptable?" His deep baritone voice is as dry as ever, but I sense the uncertainty in his words.
I throw my arms around him and start crying as I laugh happily. "It's wonderful! How could it not be when you put such thought behind it?"
"You're crying." One of his clawed fingers gently removes a wayward tear that is making it's way down my face and I smile up at him.
"I'm only crying because I don't think I've ever felt so happy in my entire life. I never thought I would have a home, a child. You."
"Come," Sesshomaru says as he tugs me with him up to the front double doors of the house, using a key he produces from his pocket to let us in to the large foyer. I look around inside and gasp in delight. I've only seen the entry way and my heart is full of love and awe. I don't have to look at anything else to know that Sesshomaru has put plenty of time and effort to make sure everything is handcrafted and made with love. I wouldn't be surprised to learn that he had a hand in every detail that went into every single piece of brick and wood in the home he's so generously created for us.
Looking at the demon in front of me, I place a hand lovingly on my stomach, my heart and head so full of love I could just burst.
"I really do love you." I don't need to hear mutual words of adoration from my mate to know the truth in his heart. It's everywhere around me and with our child growing in my womb, I know it's definitely in me. I couldn't be any happier and my heart sings knowing that's true.
"Who knew accepting the role of your assistant would be such a great decision?"
End.
Hey guys! If you've been eagerly anticipating this, then I apologize for such a long wait. Sometimes it takes a long while before inspiration of any kind can strike and allow me to finish a story. To be honest, I already finished this story once, but people wanted more from the characters, so I went back and added about 7 more chapters, hoping to please the people reading it. The truth is, in some aspects I wish I hadn't changed a thing about this story, because I loved it in it's entirety way back in the day and at some points I felt I was dragging this story along with no end in sight, which is why I've done my best to close it now, as opposed to writing another chapter only to take months and months to finish it up. Anyways, enough of my rambling, I hope you all have enjoyed with SessxRin story as much as I enjoyed writing it for you all!
