Uy! Welcome to the first chapter of the summer! Hope you enjoy, I made this one extra-long as compensation for taking forever. Enjoy!

Zelda appeared in a white dimension, located within the depths of her mind. Her dress had become a pure white, and she wore no shoes.

"Why did you call me here? I'm in the middle of a fight Sheik! I don't have much time..." Zelda pleaded.

Sheik appeared, wearing white clothes, just like Zelda did. "I know. Ilia is still adjusting to her massive change in energy levels. That is why she is taking her time walking over. I needed to tell you this in person; it will only be distracting if I try during battle."

Sheik took a deep breath. "The Soul Transportation I used on us only allows the host to use their excess souls' powers if the other soul consents to it. Ilia has obviously chosen to side with King Ganon. She has Queen Nabooru's soul implanted in her, which is what allows her to have such capable fighting abilities. However, that would mean Nabooru is willingly allowing Ilia to abuse her power. Not only that, I can't imagine Nabooru having the kind of power Ilia is displaying now."

"Ganon, Nabooru, and Ilia now all wear the same yellow gem on their body. All of them wear them on their head, the most crucial part of the body in terms of Mind Control. King Ganon wears the most elaborate one, considering there are chains, which seem to go directly into his skull. Mind Control normally requires the user to be in a highly concentrated environment, in total silence, as to concentrate. And this is to control the mind of one person."

"So what you're saying is…" Zelda began, "You think King Ganon is controlling everyone through those yellow jewels?"

Sheik nodded. "I think it's very likely. We've personally seen King Ganon walking around, talking like a normal person. It's impossible to control that many souls while doing even the most basic of tasks. Every spell has a weakness. In the case of Mind Control, which is forbidden magic, you must be in an extremely focused environment. If Ganon has created a new kind of Mind Control, his weakness may be those jewels his victims are wearing. It makes sense, because breaking a jewel takes almost no effort, but one wouldn't normally think of doing that. And the fact that King Ganon wears that huge headdress, it would also make sense, because it's an easy way to always keep them under his control, since it's the closest to his brain!"

"So, all I have to do to defeat Ilia is break her jewel!" Zelda exclaimed, ideas forming in her head.

"It's a stretch, but I think so." Sheik smiled. "You can do this Zelda."

Zelda ran up and gave her older brother a hug. "Thank you…"

Tears began to form in her eyes, as she had left him in the dark as to what she planned to do later.

Leaving the dimension, Zelda woke up just to find Ilia about to slash at her face. Jumping out of the way, she noticed the way the jewel twinkled in the light.

"Still aiming for my eyes, huh?" Zelda smirked.

"Don't get too cocky though." Sheik warned. "We don't know what her powers are capable of. Most likely, she's is receiving energy directly from Ganon himself."

"I know…" Zelda said.

"You fucking bitch…." Ilia hissed. "I can't wait to pummel your sorry ass into the ground and watch you bleed to death…"

Waving her staff, Ilia summoned a mass of lighting, surrounding her weapon. In a flash, she directed it at Zelda.

Jumping up, Zelda dodged the lightning. Pushing off the bookshelf, Zelda propelled herself toward Ilia, who was charging up for another attack. Before she could finish, Zelda swung her knife across Ilia's neck.

"Did we get her?" Zelda asked, sliding back.

"No, look! The wound is healing itself!"

Zelda watched as the slice began scabbing, then peeling, then falling and disintegrating. Ilia turned her head and gave a demonic smile.

"Unless we damage the user itself, it seems the controlled souls cannot sustain damage. In this stage, the souls synchronize with the user, except it only goes one way."

"Right. So it's get that gem, or nothing."

Ilia screamed and ran towards Zelda, covering the staff in dark magic.

"Adar mandis rat, set, a odji, dal deram to mandis cheuri!" Zelda quickly shouted, blocking the staff with her white magic. The two women were put into a stalemate, as neither one refused to let down their blade.

Sheik… she's overpowering me! Zelda said telepathically as Ilia began to push her down.

"Hang in there, Zelda! If you can hold that long enough, I can think of a way to beat her!"

Whatever you say… Zelda said, pushing harder against her knife.

Ilia began to screech loudly, breaking the windows in the library. Glass panels collapsed, raining shards on the guards below. Shouts of confusion emerged from the courtyard. Ilia had lost all rationality. She had exposed them to the rest of Hyrule now, if they hadn't noticed the screams and battle cries already. Speaking of which, how had they not noticed by now?!

"What was that?!" Link exclaimed, stopping in the halls after hearing a loud noise. A nearby maid shrugged, her face twisted in worry.

"Prince Link!" Another maid came running towards him. "The windows in the library have shattered! A guard and two civilians sustained damage from the falling glass! There seems to be a fight going on in there! Between two magic users, because these bright flashes keep showing up!"

Magic? Link's stomach flipped over. "Zelda!" Link shoved past them, running as fast as he could towards the library.

Zelda's in trouble! But who could she be fighting? What if it's King Ganon? Did he finally decide to blow his cover now?

Link finally reached the library. His father and mother, Captain Auru, Impa, King Ganon, and several guards stood nervously by the door. Several meaty guards were using a battering ram to try and bring down the doors.

"What's going on here?!" Link stopped the battering ram so he could speak.

"It appears a battle is raging in there…" Queen Marin said. She fanned herself wildly, as if about to faint. "Between two powerful magic users, it seems…"

"The door's locked with some kind of magic." Captain Auru gritted his teeth. "But we're trying to break through."

"I tried getting in through the Shadow Dimension." Impa said, a look of shock on her face. "I couldn't get through. It's unlike any kind of magic I've seen before…"

"We tried calling in the high priests, but they're going through a sacred purifying ritual of Hyrule right now, and cannot be interrupted. We're just going to have to face whoever's in there ourselves."

Meanwhile, King Ganon remained silent. Link, too distracted to notice, began banging on the doors.

"Zelda! Stay strong, okay?! Don't give up yet!" he shouted at the stop of his lungs.

Inside, Zelda turned her head towards the door. It was faint, but she heard Link's voice. A wave of guilt, horror, worry, and longing overcame her. Suddenly, she just wanted to be in Link's arms, sitting under a tree, looking towards the sunset. Somewhere safe, somewhere warm, anywhere but here. She wanted so much to throw her arms around him when this was all over, but she knew she couldn't. She would either be dead, or promptly arrested. She would go to trial for the murder of the prince's fiancée, and that meant death. It would just be her begging for the king to let her go, all in vain. She had the perfect motive to kill Ilia, jealousy. It would be even worse if someone picked up on Link and her feelings for each other.

But what of Link? Would he even look at her after she brutally murdered his future queen and childhood friend? Would he just throw her in jail, leaving her to rot, until they hanged her? Or would he still love her, and the look of pain and desperation on his face as the rope was tied around her neck kill her right there?

Should she just take her own life? Or let Ilia kill her? It would make things a lot easier, since then Ilia could be accused of killing her.

"Zelda! Now!"

Zelda snapped back to reality, shaking away all her worries and going onward with Sheik's plan. She needed to survive. She needed to protect Link. She had to.

Zelda let Ilia's staff come down on top of her. Allowing her staff to push her to the right, Zelda threw her legs back, then jumped. Arching herself over Ilia's head, stomach down, Zelda held her breath as she readied her knife.

For that one moment, there were only two sounds Zelda could hear. Her heartbeat and Ilia's. Ilia's was faint, probably from being controlled to the maximum extent. Hers: loud, rapid, nervous, stressed, broken.

Instantly, Zelda pushed the white blade through them yellow gem, then using a separate blade to go through her stomach. The gem shattered, its golden pieces sparkling as they twirled through the air, disintegrating before they touched the ground.

Zelda watched pupils formed in Ilia's eyes, showing signs of consciousness. The purple glow on her staff faded away, eventually leaving the staff itself to disappear.

A single tear fell from Ilia's eye as she fell to her knees, landing on the ground.

Zelda fell on her back, landing with a thud. She winced, pain traveling down her spine and reaching her toes.

Slowly crawling towards Ilia, Zelda watched as the former maid began taking her last breaths.

"Z-Zelda…" Ilia whispered, her voice cracked and frail. "I…I'm so sorry…"

Zelda managed to sit herself next to her, moving Ilia so she was on her back. She promptly began healing her using magic.

"S-Stop… there's no point." Ilia said firmly. "I succumbed to my desires, and let evil take over me. Now look what I've done."

"Ilia, you can get through this." Zelda clenched her teeth. Even if her engine was running low as well, Zelda knew saving Ilia would be the right thing to do. Her magic, however, would take a lot longer, because she was only using 1 arm.

"I don't want to though…" Ilia gave a weak smile, to Zelda's surprise. "When you first came to Hyrule Castle, I suddenly felt threatened. You were strong, mysterious, not to mention beautiful~"

This made Zelda blush, as she tried to continue her work.

"Everything I was not. Not only that, you had Link's attention, which I had been working my whole life for. Sure, I was jealous, and I did let it get the better of me. However, you have to believe me when I tell you I never meant to hurt you or anyone." Ilia pleaded, tears straming down her face now.

"While we were in Kakariko, King Ganon found me in my bedroom, sobbing. He offered a way for me to have Link all to myself." Ilia sucked in her breath. "He told me to kill you, and eventually, Link."

"Something in me said yes. Some dark, evil, twisted, unspoken part of me told me to say yes, and being the weak person I am, I listened." Ilia sniffed. "The second I put on that earing, I became his slave. His pawn. He could've taken complete control over me at any moment. He could've forced me to kill myself, if I showed any signs of having second thoughts."

"When your only hope is to help the enemy, when that enemy becomes the only thing standing between you and death, that is when you start to become the enemy. Their principles, their beliefs, whether it be that you are nothing but a worthless piece of scum, or that they are doing you a favor by beating you into doing labor, anything, no matter how bizarre, it will eventually become a seed in your head waiting for some water to sprout."

"The moment you twist your enemy's words so they seem reasonable, that is when you water that seed. It starts to grow, consuming all other thoughts in your mind, until it becomes the only thing you think about. It becomes your life, who you are, and what you want to be. This is how people lose their minds in places like prison and war. The principles being shoved down their throats, eventually they start to believe it. And if those principles are wrong, it marks the start of one's loss of humanity."

"Zelda, without a doubt, you will be arrested for my death. You'll either be put to death, or sentenced to life in prison. But whether you choose to escape or go through with the charges, I want you to stay true to yourself, and never think of yourself as anything less than perfect." Ilia coughed, blood spurting out. "See? Told you I can't be healed."

Zelda sighed, and removed her hand. "Are you sure that's what you want?"

Ilia smiled. "Yeah, I'm sure. It's my time to go anyway. Just do me a favor?"

Zelda nodded. "Anything."

"Please, whatever you do, protect Link. He's lived a sheltered life. He doesn't know poverty, or helplessness, or suffering…"

"I know. And I plan on making sure King Ganon can never lay a hand on him ever again." Zelda stated firmly, brushing hair out of Ilia's eyes.

"Thank you." Ilia coughed again, panting more heavily now.

Silence hung over their heads as Ilia struggled to stay awake, if only for a few moments.

"It's nice to know you're not some scheming yandere who hates my guts."

Ilia laughed. "Isn't it?"

"I really did respect you though. You know, until you started picking on me."

"Hmm… how nice of you. Zelda, you're a good kid."

Ilia sighed and closed her eyes.

Zelda just stared, shocked. "W-Wait… Ilia? Y-You still there?"

She was in denial. Just a few moments ago, she was having a normal conversation with Ilia, just like old friends. And now, she was dead.

"Ilia!" Zelda cried, suddenly missing her presence. It's amazing how quickly your perspective of someone can change. I thought I hated her, but now, I feel like we've been friends forever…

Zelda buried her head in her hands and started crying.

The magic barriers on the door broke down. The double doors fell down as the battering ram team crashed into the room.

"Zelda!" Link pushed past everyone else and rushed into the room, only to find Ilia with a knife in her stomach and the library destroyed. Another blade, which had a strange white glow to it, was lying across the room, next to what appeared to be a magic staff. The windows were shattered, as said, and the large bookshelves had toppled over in a huge mess.

The place looked like a war zone.

His eyes eventually fell on Zelda, who sat by Ilia's side, crying hysterically.

He wanted to go over and comfort her. To tell her it was okay, that it wasn't her fault.

But wasn't it?

Did Zelda really do this?

Link found himself rooted to the ground. His face was contorted into one of horror. No way Zelda had done this. Sure, as a skilled fighter, she was capable of doing this, but she would never go that far, unless she was in danger. But he knew Ilia; she had never learned to fight.

"Oh dear Farore…" Queen Marin exclaimed, then promptly fainted into the arms of a nearby guard.

King Alfon sucked in his breath, waiting to see what Link would do.

Auru spoke, rising to his job as captain. "Zelda. Would you please give us an explanation as to what has happened here?"

Zelda didn't respond.

"I'll repeat myself again. Please tell us what happened here."

Silence.

"Zelda? Do you plan on answering me?" Auru was pleading now. It was in his voice.

With a simple hand motion from the king, Captain Auru pulled out a rope from his pocket and walked over to Zelda. "Zelda. You are under arrest for the murder of Ilia Ordon." he mumbled as he tied it tightly around her wrists, saying it more to himself than anyone else.

"Your initial response to this crime will be used during the trial, which is to be held in three days. Did you kill Ilia Ordon?"

"…Yes…"

Link clenched his fists, ducking his head to hide his tears. But who were they for?

"Why did you kill Ilia Ordon?"

Zelda let her bangs fall over her eyes. "…"

Auru sighed. Gently tugging her upwards, he met eyes with Impa, silently telling her to take over.

Every word was said according to law, every move was done by the book. Everyone tried to remain emotionless, everyone except Link.

He let his tears fall, not caring who saw or what they thought. The only word running through his head was why.

Impa nudged Zelda forward, leading her towards the dungeon. The accused murderer didn't even spare a glance at Link, not a last minute SOS, not a quick I love you, nothing.

Nothing. Just like what Link was feeling now.

One part of him told him to side with Ilia. That she was going to be his wife, and that was all just taken away. That he should honor her death by sentencing Zelda. That it was the right thing to do.

The other part told him to investigate further. That Zelda would have never done this. That there had to have been a reason. That she was still the same sarcastic, yet caring woman he fell in love with.

In the end, the two sides cancelled each other out. He didn't know what to feel, so he just felt nothing at all. The tears were from the two halves trying to see which he would cry harder for.

Zelda hadn't been in a prison since Ganon enslaved her. She didn't know what to do, so she just dozed off, seeing how she needed to recover from her fight.

On her second day, she found herself sitting in the corner, staring at the cold, hard, stone floor. A prison ward came up to her cell. "O bandia na flaithis" he began, "tairseach de draíochta a oscailt." A small opening appeared in the magic screen that encased her, going through the metal bars as well.

"Breakfast." he said coldly, before dumping the food into the portal.

Zelda didn't move, much to the ward's disgust. "Playing hard to get? You know, you gotta lot of nerve, killing the future queen like that. She's from Ordon. I'm from mess with one Ordonian, you mess with all of them. I swear, if I wasn't getting' paid, I'd come right over and choke the life out of you.

"Hey. Knock it off." said a voice to the right. It was smooth, somewhat deep, the kind of voice you'd expect to come from the hero of a romance novel.

The warden switched his glare toward the cell next to hers. "Shut the hell up, Dark. Yer next on my list."

The man, Dark, merely chuckled. "Be my guest. I'd love to get a chance to get out of this cage and exercise."

Irritated, the ward shoved some food into Dark's cell as well. "Screw it. I don't need to sink to yer level."

"Not today, anyway." Dark smirked. The ward gritted his teeth, then turned on his heel, walking off, nose pointed upwards in an aristocratic fashion.

Zelda brought her knees further to her chest. She knew what was coming next, the awkward conversation.

"So, killing the future queen of Hyrule. I like that one. Has a nice ring to it, you know?"

Inside, Zelda groaned. I am in no mood for this right now…

"You should give yourself some credit. Assassinations are harder than people think."

Go away… Zelda shut her eyes, hoping she could block out his voice.

"You gonna eat that? If you're gonna play stubborn with the food, then give it to me, at least."

Zelda took the bread, smashed it in her palm, and threw the crumbs at him. They bounced off the magic screen that separated the two. "Go fuck off." she grumbled.

Dark laughed. His voice was cracking, he obviously hadn't laughed in a long time. "Hey, hey now… let's not get our panties in a bunch, hm? We're both prisoners here, it's rare you get to see someone put into Level S."

Prisoners were sorted into five groups: Levels 1 through 4, and Level S. Level 1 prisoners were convicted of minor scuffles, such as refusing to pay taxes or driving a carriage too fast. Level 2 was designated for small crimes, such as vandalism or getting into a fight with a guard. Level 3 consisted of theft, fraud, prostitution. Level 4 was for murderers or lying to the government and such.

Then there was Level S. These were special prisoners, prisoners that posed a real threat to society. This could be serial killers, a foreign spy, a dangerous monster, etc. Often times these prisoners had special abilities, which is why they had to be kept in strict conditions to suppress those abilities.

Zelda rubbed the heavy bracelet around her wrist. There was one on the other arm, and on both her ankles. They prevented her from using any kind of magic or special abilities. They weighed about ten pounds, and were uncomfortable to sleep in.

"I see you got the metal bracelets. I got those too~" he said, lifting up his arms to show her. "You get used to them after a while, so don't worry."

"I'm going to die in three days." Zelda stated bluntly, hoping to shut him up.

"What, you mean a trial? Naw, that just means they're gonna review the evidence and see if you're really guilty."

"I'll repeat myself again." Zelda said, voice rising in anger. "I'm going to die in three days."

"Not necessarily~"

"The evidence is all there. They found her dead, I was right next to her. The entire room was sealed off. That's all there is to it. I'm going to die in three days. There's no point in keeping me here! Why won't they just kill me already?"

Dark shrugged. "That's no way to think, is it?"

Zelda slammed her hand down. "What would you know?! I lost everything. Every hope, every dream, everything I wanted to accomplish, all gone. Once those two got married, I could've been free. Heartbroken, but free. And I could've settled down and started a family, try to rebuild my clan. But noooo. That asshole Ganon decides to come into my life and fuck around with it, as if what he's done already isn't enough!" Zelda suddenly broke down into a fit of tears, unable to control herself. Dark attempted to reach through the bars and comfort her, but the screen prevented him from doing so.

"Hey… it's okay…" he said softly, unsure of what else to do. "If it makes you feel better, Ganon screwed up my life too."

Zelda lifted her head. It was the first time she got a good look at Dark. To her horror, he looked exactly like Link. Same hair style, facial features, body figure. The only difference was the coloring, really. Dark had silver hair, though it was slightly longer than Link's, framing his face more. His skin was as almost white, but his eyes were blood red. I suppose you could call him good looking… I kind of can't say otherwise since he looks just like Link…

"Checking me out?" he smirked to himself, catching her staring at his features.

"Don't give yourself so much credit. So, Ganon messed you up too?"

Dark nodded. "Well, I guess it was bound to be screwed up anyway. It's hard to explain."

"Care to tell?"

"Alright. During the Great War, King Ganon did a lot of research into Transformation Magic. He wanted to create a henchman who could transform into any of his enemies without using up energy, as other transformation techniques would use. Such a feat would seem impossible. No one believed he could do it, not even Queen Nabooru. Even after it was outlawed, Ganon kept doing more and more research. Sure enough, he succeeded, and I was born.

So… Dark can make himself look like anyone in the world? Without using energy? "So what did he do with you?"

Dark leaned back. "The Great War had been going on for a while now, and the Gerudo army needed a big win, so I was used to assassinate important generals by disguising as soldiers, after killing those soldiers I was impersonating, of course. I was only a kid though. It was a hard life: always living as someone else, never getting to be me. My last job was killing the prince. Not Prince Link, a different one. In fact, I had to impersonate Link in order to kill the other prince. His name was Marth, I think? Prince of Altea? Yeah, that sounds about right. So anyway, I couldn't kill Prince Link, but I got myself into Altea… killed the prince… it was real easy getting in, actually. Apparently the two princes were super close. And yeah. Got caught, Ganon abandoned me after he heard about something called the Reincarnation, I got sentenced to life in prison after they realized I was only a kid… but since they have these bracelets on me I can't change out of this form. Not that I'd know what my actual form looks like, I guess since I was constantly changing my appearance I forgot."

Marth? I think I've heard Link mention his name once or twice… "That's… That's kind of sad... They should've let you go! I mean, you were only a kid." Zelda said, hoping to make him feel better.

"I suppose. Hyrule tends to be kind of strict when it comes to magic users though."

They continued talking together, seeing how there was nothing else to do. Zelda told Dark about being a Sheikah, her time working as a slave in the castle, and about the raid and going to Kakariko. She found it easy to talk to him, most likely because he reminded her of Link. Dark told her more about Ganon, how he put the disintegration spell on him, the various assassinations he's performed, and the different people he met in prison. They stayed up till around 10 chatting, before finally going to bed. Zelda's trial was tomorrow, and she needed to look her best.

The next day, Zelda was shoved into a bathroom, and had to rush to take a shower. The prison workers gave her a black dress to wear, taking away all her other belongings, with the exception of her white shawl, seeing how it had the royal emblem on it. Her Sheikah necklace was safely tucked in a small crack in her cell, where she could retrieve it after the trial was over. Dark had already informed her of what was going to happen. "Just be yourself. You seem like a nice person, and you need to show the Council that. They, along with the King, will be the ones deciding your fate. Act like you're truly sorry. Show that you want to repent. Worst comes to worse, just tell the whole truth: with Ganon and all. The chances of them believing you are slim, but it's worth a try. Only mention it after they sentence you to death, as a last minute attempt. They could always sentence you to life in prison, but don't get your hopes up or anything like that."

"Are you ready for this…?" Sheik asked, knowing if Zelda died, they would have to kill her a second time. Having more than one soul essentially gives you more than one life, like if an arrow just so happened to go through Zelda's heart; it would take a second one to kill her.

"I guess so…" she ran her fingers through her hair, hoping to untangle the knots that had formed from several days of sitting.

"You'll do fine. I'm sorry I haven't been there for you while you were in prison, I was thinking deeply about something."

"It's okay. What were you thinking about?"

"I was thinking about ways to break the magic barrier around your cell. If I'm able to temporarily take over your body, I can perform a Magic Release spell and remove the barrier. However, having a different soul control a host's body can be dangerous. If not done correctly, the host will die."

"Kind of like Mind Control, except with that the user can get hurt."

"Exactly."

Zelda sighed. "I guess if I'm going to die anyway, we can try it out." Besides… she thought. Then I can go through with my plan…

"Alright. Let's go then."

"Okay."

Before long, Zelda was brought into the trial room. The room itself was a circle, centered around a metal pole, where the prisoners were tied while being tried. Crowds of people sat in the bleachers, whispering harshly and sending glares her way. Someone started shouting, and soon the rest of the audience joined in.

"Bitch!"

"You filthy…"

"…jealous…"

"How could you…"

"…what happens when you don't raise children…"

"…hope you die!"

As she walked by the townsfolk, they reached out towards her, trying to grab her hair and rip her clothes. The Royal Guard struggled to keep them from diving off the bleachers, shouting orders at each other, panic in their voices.

Some people had knives and clubs. One managed to swat her in the head, knocking her forward. No doubt that would leave a bruise. Another yanked hard on her left sleeve. Zelda winced as her shoulder started to hurt again. She had managed to numb the pain by making it fall asleep, but that all went waste now.

The prison ward jerked her downwards, indicating her to kneel down. Zelda obeyed, tilting her head downwards in respect. The rope binding her wrists was undone briefly to tie her down, the rough material leaving red marks along her arms. Her eyes flickered up for a brief moment. In front of her was the king. To the left of him was the Council, their expressions filled with scorn and disappointment. To the right of him was the queen, King Ganon… and Link.

His face had a permanent look of horror and shock on them. His lip seemed to quiver, as if he had never seen this kind of thing before.

"He's lived a sheltered life…"

He was the only one out of the aristocrats standing, trying to get a better view of her. Link's eyes, normally light blue and cheerful, now seemed dull and lifeless, accompanied by dark circles under his eyes.

"He doesn't know poverty…"

That's who the majority of these people were. Poor farmers, who had hoped to see a simple farm girl like Ilia become queen. A monarch they could truly relate to. Someone who could stick up for them and their rights...

"…or helplessness…"

"Assembly, rise. By the grace of Nayru, goddess of order and law, we are here today to decide the fate of Zelda: former slave and accused murderer of Ilia Ordon. The punishment for murder of the first degree in the country of Hyrule is 75 years to life in prison. The murder of someone of high standing in government is punishable by death. We will now begin the trial."

Link had to sit down halfway through the King's introduction. He placed his head in his hands, knowing there was nothing he could do.

"…or suffering…"

A man wearing all black came out, his face concealed by a mask, showing only his eyes. In his hand was a long, leather whip. If she were to try and run, or say something the King or Council didn't like, she would be whipped. It was as simple as that.

Zelda thought back to the time Link caught Ganon's whip on the first day they met. That time, Link protected her because Ganon was whipping her for no reason. This time, she had every reason to be hit. No one could save her now.

I was listening to depressing music when I was writing this, and this is how it turned out. What do you guys think of Dark? Let me know in the reviews or with a PM!

The best place to write stories, turns out, is the car, while on a super long road trip. I managed to write this one and I completely edited three chapters of this other story I found on my USB. I know, I'm terrible, right? I should be focusing on Whatever It Takes, but I can't help it. With 9th grade coming up, I found this high school plotline with all the Super Smash Brothers characters in it, and once I opened it, I was hooked. In fact, I think I'll post it now. It's called Ninten-stars! (Don't ask about the stupid name, that'll come later in the story) and it's based off of the anime K-On!, if you've ever heard of it. I find it cute, plus I've been wanting to release it for a while, so we'll see how that goes. Now you'll can read that story while you wait for this one! Anyway, thanks for reading!
