Seto was actually surprised to find himself waking up the next morning. He didn't even remember falling asleep. The only thing that he remembered was watching Yugi sleep and then closing his eyes for a moment and then waking up as the sun rose and allowed its rays to slip into the room. Yugi was still asleep beside him, he noticed almost immediately, and it was still a couple of hours before the two of them had to wake up to get ready for school. He could let Yugi sleep for that amount of time and he could slip out of the room and try to get whatever amount of work that he could possibly do done in that amount of time. It wouldn't be much, but it would definitely be better than nothing.

"Seto?" Yugi mumbled sleepily as Seto shifted so that he could slip out from underneath the covers.

"I need to get some work done," Seto replied. "Go back to sleep."

Yugi frowned at him, but nodded and closed his eyes so that he could get some more rest. For a moment Seto felt like he was one of those bastards who had a one-night stand with a girl and then left before she woke up again. The feeling shocked Seto as soon as he felt it because he didn't deny that he had done that a few times to girls and he didn't feel as guilty as he did now.

Seto shook his head. He had work to do and he had already put it off last night so that he could stay with Yugi. That should be enough, really. He didn't even have to stay last night, let alone now. And yet he was still considering slipping back under the covers. Everything was so messed up. It was only a few weeks ago that he never would have paid Yugi any attention. It was all because he made that blood bond with Yugi. That was the only reason. It had to be, but his mind conjured up all those times that he had though about saving Yugi from his bullies before his change even as he tried to convince himself that the change was the only thing that was making him feel like this.

Seto shook his head once more and stood from the bed. He didn't have time for this. He had to get some work done. He strode over the door without looking back at Yugi once and ripped it open. He very nearly slammed the door shut as well in his hurry to get out of the room, but then he remembered that Yugi was still sleeping just in time to catch the door before it hit the door frame. He slowly closed the door as quietly as possible and then leaned against it. It was so strange thinking of others well-being. In the past he would have just slammed the door without thinking of how the other felt. His brother had always been his only exception to everything, but now he had another exception and it felt right so much so that it felt wrong to Seto. Every now and again Yugi reminded him of his brother and he had used that as a reason for why he was treating Yugi so kindly, but then he found his brother and sent him away so that he could keep Yugi by his side. Everything was just so strange and Seto just couldn't think of anyway to fix it. And, strangely, Seto wasn't even sure if he wanted to fix it.

Yugi yawned when he woke up to his alarm clock a couple hours later. Seto was nowhere in sight, but that didn't really surprise him. He had actually been surprised to wake up with Seto in his bed in the first place. He had assumed that last night had only been a dream. But when he woke and found that Seto was just then getting out of his bed, it made him happy while simultaneously being upset to lose Seto's presence. He didn't blame him, though. Seto really did need to get some work done and he was just getting in the way. Just like he always does. Yugi shivered at that thought and got out of bed so that he could attempt to distract himself. He didn't want to think of those things right now. He just wanted to get up and go to school. At least while he's there he can pretend that Seto likes him since they are pretending to date. Not that he really acted any different. The only thing that really changed was that Seto touched him more, but Yugi liked the touch. He had always been the type of person who found touch to be soothing and Yami had always been willing to sooth Yugi with touch. It had been hard for him to get over that when Yami left, but at least he had his father who was always willing to give a hug. Now, though, he only had Seto and he seemed to despise any sort of direct contact unless it was in an attempt to fool someone.

Yugi sighed as he slipped out of bed. There was no point in staying any longer and, if he stayed too much longer, Seto would not be happy with him for making him miss another day of school. Usually he would be just as upset about missing school, but the past week had been a lot more tiring than he was used to dealing with. Then, as soon as he fell back to sleep when Seto left, he had a horrible nightmare about his grandfather. He couldn't shake the feeling that something really bad was going to happen soon and he really just wanted to stay under the warm comforter for another day or so so that he wouldn't have to deal with any of it.

"Oh you're awake?" the voice of the butler at the door pulled Yugi out of his musings and he looked up to see the man was carrying a bag of blood with him. "The master told me to wake you up and have you drink this."

Yugi smiled as he took the offered bag. The butler was the only human in the building who knew about his and Seto's special conditions despite the fact that there were several staff that worked there. That made it so that the butler was really the only one that Yugi actually interacted with since he was the only one who dared to get close to the masters new friend by order of the master. He was a nice man and Yugi was glad that he was the one that Seto chose to share their secret with.

"Are you feeling unwell?" the butler asked. "You look really tired."

"I'm fine," Yugi smiled. "These last few days have just been a bit more than I'm really used to."

"Indeed," the butler nodded. He wasn't aware of all the things that went on in Seto's personal life, but he was really well informed so he could at least understand what Yugi was saying. "Perhaps you should stay home today. I'm sure the master will be understanding."

"No," Yugi replied. "I'm fine really. I don't really want to stay here all day."

"Very well," the butler nodded. "I'll just go tell the master then."
