Disclaimer: I DO NOT own any of the Operators or Deputy Director Six. I only own the OCs. The historic figures (Current presidents, FBI Director, etc) portrayed in this story are as accurate I can make them.
The address to the De La Rosa residence is fictional, but the city is not. And most of the attention will be given to the Spetsnaz operators.
Thor's abilities as a genetically engineered German Shepherd will be explained in this chapter.
Since Roman and Taina are on leave still, they will be referred by their real names in combat as well.
Chapter 21: Keys To The Kingdom
Hereford Base, Herefordshire, England
December 26, 2017
06:20 Hours
All of the operators gathered in the recreation room stood in awe. None of them could comprehend with what they saw on the television. Half of the MGC headquarters was now in flames. Police officers panicked as they tried to fight back against the White Masks, but with the firearms they're equipped with, none of them stood a chance. Even the SWAT officers couldn't even reach the front steps as they're gunned down almost instantly. Civilians were also seen panicking, trying to dodge the bullets that were flying at them, cover became scarce with each vehicle exploding.
Then the last thing they hoped for came to life.
The White Masks lieutenant called out the existence of the Rainbow organization, the most discreet CTU in existence. They all looked at each other in awe, no words were muttered. Their existence has just been exposed to the world. Sure, news reports have made rumors about Rainbow but none had solid evidence to back up their claim, which lead to cold ends. The headline changed yet again, as they saw.
"What is the Rainbow organization? Who are they?" the headline wasn't professional, but that what it was.
The remaining Special Air Service operators were dead silent. They lost one of their brothers and now their top-secret organization has been exposed to the human race. Shuhrat, Maxim, Tim, and Alex all expressed their sympathy for the American people, as they know what it feels like to see their own people die. Some of the operators even shed tears, male and female. It was absolutely bullshit, no person deserves to suffer. No innocent person should die early. No child should be taken away from their families. All of the Rainbow operators wanted to put an end to this, once and for all.
Then, Ela remembered something. Both Roman and Taina, two of Rainbow's operatives, are in California, specifically, Newport Beach. If the White Masks find about their whereabouts, that could spell trouble. She shared her thoughts with everyone and they all agreed. A second team needs to be send and rescue both Roman and Taina, but that would mean abandoning his family. All of them knew that Roman is a loyal colleague and he won't abandon anybody no matter what and with his family also at risk, there's no way in persuading him to leave, not even sex could.
"All Rainbow operatives please report to hangar five immediately." Six's voice cut through the inter comms.
The operators all double-timed to the hanger in record time. Standing in in a group circle, they waited for the bosslady to speak. She was fuming, her anger nearly controlling her thoughts. It's obvious that Six is feeling that way is she is American herself.
"There's no time to waste. We've been re-activated several months ago for a reason. We're here to stop the evil which is known as terrorism." Six said as the hologram projector turned on once more.
The projector showed the blueprints of the Masrani Global Corporation headquarters. Several layouts of the building were showed, several lines of red and blue were also seen. From he's seen so far, Mike came to the conclusion that Six is sending more than one team to deal with the threat. Strike Team Alpha is on they're way back but won't be so for another couple of hours. Roman and Taina are on vacatiion and with Seamus gone, they have to pool in whatever resources they have and act on it. Rainbow can't afford another loss or else the organization will be discontinued once more. Another C-17 Globemaster was seen, three armored trucks were also being loaded in along with the backup MQ-1C.
"Baker, I will leave it up to you to discuss the plan on the MGC raid. There's also something important we need to act on."
If the operators were surprised, they didn't show it. A layout of a mansion was shown, and the operators knew it was the residence of the De La Rosa family. Because why else would she show a home of a random person? More or less, of a family? It was fairly large, a long driveway with multiple garage doors, a infinity pool, a basketball court, it had everything you'd imagine a wealthy family would have. Then, eight images appeared.
Their eyes widened once more.
Two of the images belonged to Roman and Taina. But the other six? José, María, Kevin, Melvin, Elizabeth, and Victoria De La Rosa. When Dominic asked if it's another hostage situation and that their two colleagues are one, Six responded with a simple "no".
"But if the White Masks gets a hold of their locations, we won't have to deal with just the scrutiny of the world, but of the Masrani Global Corporation. That's why I'm sending in a third team to protect them."
The beautiful image of the mansion now turned into a small fortress appeared in their minds.
"Strike Team Delta will be responsible for protecting the De La Rosa family at all costs. And I will be assigning that responsibility to the Spetsnaz operators. But since Glaskov is going with Team Bravo, Porter will be going in his place instead, understood?"
Six looked at the Spetsnaz operators, who all gave her a reassuring nod. This is now the opportunity for all of them, visiting the United States was on all of their bucket lists, more so for Shuhrat, who found it ironic that he's going to be defending civilians instead of extracting them.
"I guess I don't have to use my cluster charges and almost get them killed." Shuhrat thought, a small smile on his face.
"Strike Team Bravo and Charlie has been cleared by the FBI as HRT while Strike Team Delta will be going in as Rainbow."
Yumiko, Masaru, Ela, Siu, Liu, and Tim has been assigned to Strike Team Bravo while Emma, Julian, Gilles, Vicente, Elena, and Mark are going in as Strike Team Charlie. All of the operators that were called for combat are now boarding the plane while the rest were dismissed and allowed to resume whatever activites they were doing previously.
Seveal hours later
California
The Rainbow operators had successfully landed at a private airstrip in Riverside county. The three armored trucks rolled out followed by the MQ-1C. It did look a little suspicious to the civilians on the freeway, and some of them even assumed that they're back up to the White Masks, which is funny because Rainbow isn't, they're the exact opposite of the White Masks. They're there to fight terrorism and protect civilians.
Strike Team Delta broke off from Bravo and Charlie when they got closer to the city of Irvine. Fuze and Kapkan complimented how nice the country looks so far, and briefly mentioned that Irvine might be the best looking city that they've seen. Tachanka was busy behind the driver's seat, trying to pay attention to the road. He had a general sense on how to follow the American driving laws but he doesn't have a California's drivers license, but the law enforcement sirens he has on gave his team good coverage. Smoke enjoyed the scenery, looking out the passenger window.
They arrived to Newport Beach, and that's where they encountered their first problem, it was a gated community. However, Kapkan was able to hack into the security system thanks to the skills he picked up from Meghan. They're in broad daylight now but didn't want any attention so Tachanka turned of the lights and siren. They crept up on the De La Rosa family residence and found that it's in perfect condition, but the driveway is open.
Tachanka drove the truck slowly and parked it right by the steps of the main doorway into the house. They hopped out the truck and Shuhrat knocked on the door like he's a family friend. They all became surprised when Taina answered the door wearing nothing more than a robe that hugged her body perfectly. She looked at them stunned.
"Why the fuck are you guys here?" Taina looked back into the mansion, and was thankful that it was only her and Roman present.
Smoke was about to say something until Roman appeared behind Taina, wrapping his arms around her waist and kissed her neck. She slapped him and told him to look up, which he did. Roman became confused, why were they here? But they were allowed into the home when he opened the door more wide.
"Can you four explain yourselves?" Roman demanded, curious as to why they're in his family's home unannounced.
"Obviously with the attack on MGC mate, Director Six became wary and assigned us to protect you two and your family in case the White Masks get a hold of your locations." Smoke said, removing his mask.
Roman sighed, Smoke's words are true. He walked into the kitchen to pour himself coffee but Taina already did that. They kissed for a moment before Roman insisted that she'd change into something more "appropriate" as they have "guests". Taina smirked as she walked to their shared room to change. Roman turned around saw his colleagues smirking at him. Tachanka brought in his LMG, Kapkan adjusted his traps, Fuze rested his head on the couch, and Smoke relaxed as well. Then, Thor came from the kitchen door that led to the backyard and looked at the four new guests in curiosity.
"Easy boy, they're friendly. Come here." Roman said, and Thor barked in obligation.
The German Shepherd walked up to his companion and nuzzled his head on his thigh, looking up at him with the cute puppy eyes he still possessed. Roman smiled as he scratched the spot behind Thor's ear, making him wag his tail in excitement. He then offered to give a tour around the mansion, which all four of them agreed upon. Tachanka then noticed the large balcony that gave a nice view of the front lawn and the neighboring houses, a great spot to have his LMG mounted and loaded. Kapkan told everyone that he brought ten traps and he's going to place them at the doors that lead into the home. And Smoke? he mentioned that he's going to wait until the last minute to toss his toxic babes.
When Fuze asked where his family went, Roman responded, saying that they went to a charity event that's in Long Beach while his dad went to Irvine to deal with the White Masks situation. Taina came out the room moments later, wearing a buttoned-up shirt and jeans, but the clothes did little to nothing to conceal the assets that causes every male operator in Rainbow to drool over. Kapkan and Fuze brought in the radio equipment so they could get in contact with Six again.
"HQ, this is Delta-One, how copy." Tachanka called.
After a second, chatter was heard. "Delta-One, this is HQ. I hear you loud and clear. Is the family secure, over?"
"Yes ma'am but we only got our operatives secure. His family is out and about, over."
They all heard Six sigh, and that usually mean that there's something wrong.
"Okay, report back as soon as they come back, H.."
The line went silent before Six could finish what she had to say. Roman walked into the security cameras room and saw a semi-truck along with masked men trying to gain access to the residential area gate, holding the security guards hostage. He signaled to Tachanka, Kapkan, Fuze, and Taina to prepare themselves. Tachanka mounted his LMG facing the main entrance into the home, Kapkan placed his ten traps in places where he thinks the White Masks will enter, and Fuze? He hopes it would be a good idea for him placing his cluster charges facing outwards, meaning that they will detonate and the grenades will launch towards the front lawn.
Taina followed her boyfriend to his father's armory, where they found numerous firearms mounted on the wall and on shelves. Roman took a Remington ACR and several magazines, along with a tactical vest for himself, Taina, and the good boy Thor. He also took six night-vision goggles for the team, who were standing behind him. Roman turned around as they nodded at each other.
"Alright, let's do this. Remember, no radio chatter." Roman said as he turned off all the lights that dimmed the mansion.
All the lights that dimmed up the home turned off. The shutters closed automatically, the curtains brought themselves closer, and any light from the sun that shone was covered, covering the interior of the mansion with darkness. Several clicking sounds were also heard as a small explosion knocked down the gate that led to the driveway. The six operators scattered and took their positions. Tachanka went to his LMG and moved towards the garage door instead, ready to mow down any White Masks that come their way. Fuze took Tachanka's old spot, placing a cluster charge at the door before doing so. They managed to set up on time as the White Masks managed to breach the front gate.
And the wait game begins.
Silence crept to the mansion as the six operators heard shouts and screams, along with several thuds on the doors. Roman had a good view of the security feed and saw four hostiles trying to breach the front door. He looked at Fuze and nodded. The Spetsnaz operator detonated the cluster charge, releasing five grenades. The enemies tried to take cover behind the armored truck, but it was too late. Their limbs splattered across the lawn and some of the blood even managed to slightly cover up the camera, but it didn't do much as Roman saw a virulent man carrying a RPG.
Roman covered his face as the blast turned the door into lethal fragments. He signaled to Thor to take cover and wait for his commands. The first bullets came flying from the White Masks, but none of them managed to even graze Fuze, who's head was peeking over the sofa, which was knocked over. Then, the Rainbow operators exchanged gunfire, managing to hit a couple of enemies, but were momentarily pinned down.
"Smoke, we need one of your toxic babes!" Tachanka yelled, firing his LMG at the garage door.
Smoke only laughed in response, tossing a orange canister to accompany the sound of his voice. Roman and Taina moved away from the smoke as it killed three White Masks that tried to enter. Kapkan shouted from one of the bedrooms, but none of the operators could make out what he said.
"We can't fucking hear you mate! Speak up!" Smoke yelled.
Kapkan yelled again, and still, nobody could understand what he's trying to say. Suddenly, he came out running the room as a explosion tore apart the room. Chunks of cement flew into the living room as Fuze and Smoke ducked for cover. The latter dashed to Roman, who moved into the security room to scan the enemies. Fourty-five White Masks soldiers were accounted for, with more heat signatures in the truck.
"You know, Emma might be a little jealous with the technology your family has!" James joked loudly as he exchanged gunfire, maiming two hostiles.
"You can tell her to suck his dick!" Taina's accent was heard, firing her Luison 2.0.
"I wouldn't mind that!" Roman said.
James and Roman heard Taina mutter something in Portuguese but the latter gulped when he heard her mutter something about "revenge". But what they didn't pay attention to was to the window shattering that gave a view of the nice backyard.
And a White Masks soldier crept in.
When he was about to aim his gun at Tachanka, Thor came rushing and sunk his teeth into the throat of the would-be assailant. He tried throwing Thor off but the dog used his weight to his advantage and pulled the enemy to the ground as he crushed his throat completely, costing his teeth with blood.
"Fuckin' A that dog is smart!" Fuze yelled, reloading his rifle.
Thor heard Roman snap his fingers twice. The good boy took it as a cue and rushed to his side, swiftly dodging the bullets with relative ease. Smoke tossed another canister but he used it to buy everyone else some time. Fuze activated another cluster charge and swore to everyone that he heard the bodies splitting apart. Bullets continued to rip through the air as they continued to exchange gunfire.
Tachanka was able to keep the White Masks at bay for a while until his shield cracked, forcing him to close the door and to move the refrigerator, which was industrial sized. Smoke checked his magazine pouched and realized that he ran out of bullets for both his FMG-9 and his pistol. He yelled it out, which caused the rest of the operators to check their magazines, and they too realize that they are running out of bullets as well. Roman considered running to the armory to gather more ammunition but he would waste a considerable amount of time.
"Fuck, everyone fall back, use the darkness as cover."
Taina smiled, she loved using the darkness,, that's where she thrives. She heard someone trying to break in from the window, which was in their room. Creeping slowly, Taina entered her room and closed the door, waiting for the men to break in.
And that would be the last mistake they ever made.
Both men entered at the same time and quickly surveyed the room, unaware of their demise coming. Taina fired her Luison, killing one before switching to hand-to-hand combat. The man had more strength than her but she had more skill and techniques. Taina effortlessly high blocked the jabs the assholw threw and performed a double-leg takedown.
Taina went to the mount position but the soldier used his strength to his advantage by rolling her over and forced her into guard. She blocked the punches but her ribs ate a nasty hook that caused her to wince in pain, but the vest helped her a bit. Taina grabbed his sleeves, kicked him once and immediately locked the assailant into the spider guard. He tried escaping by bringing her legs together but Taina kicked him again, drawing blood from his mouth and nose, but he didn't want to give up yet.
The White Masks asshole tried kicking Taina but that gave her the opportunity to lock in the triangle choke, which she did without any effort. Her long legs helped a lot and the man was about the same height as her, which was also a plus. He tried escaping by picking her up and slamming her to the floor, but it only angered Taina even more as she trapped his arm under her armpit and cranked her body up, snapping the arm in half and caused him to choke on his own blood, killing him.
She learned that trick from her boyfriend.
"What filth." Taina disgustingly said as she quickly fixed her hair into a ponytail.
Tachanka somehow ended up in the arcade & gaming room by himself but saw a White Masks soldier coming his way. Both of them pulled their triggers but they were both out of ammo, which caused them to resort to a fist fight. To make it fair, Tachanka removed his helmet and balaclava, revealing a face that should only belong to a god.
His opponent swung first, and it was a haymaker. The Lord dodged it with no effort and retaliated with two jabs with his left, a reverse with his right, a hook with his left, and a nasty uppercut with his right once more. The soldier staggered back and held on to a table to keep himself upright. He managed to land a hook directly onto Tachanka's jaw, but it only angered him even more.
The Lord returned the favor by landing a devastating elbow strike, which for sure broke the jaw of his opponent, followed up by several hooks, jabs, uppercuts, and a swift knee to the throat to ensure quick death. Tachanka himself was surprised that he managed to fight someone and win with no effort despite his age and the armor weighing him down, but everyone calls him a god for a reason. Putting his helmet and balaclava, Tachanka walked away and began the search for his other comrades, hoping that they're okay.
Smoke and Kapkan hid in the gym for some odd reason. They quickly surveyed the room and admired how nice it looks. Pictures of the Gracie family were also hung on the walls, which was a plus to the De La Rosa family. Then, a explosion turned the door into ashes as a tall man, about 6'11 in height, stood by the entrance and looked at the two Rainbow operators, with a devilish look on his face. Smoke and Kapkan turned to each other and gulped, hoping they could take down the abomination that stood in front of them.
The SAS operator charged first and punched the adversary's gut. He smirked to himself thinking that he got a good shot in but when he looked up, he saw the man looking down at him, with even more anger. The soldier picked Smoke up by his vest and tossed him towards the large mirror, shattering it into pieces. Smoke groaned as he slowly got up, hearing the footsteps of the giant man approaching him from behind. Kapkan looked at his ally then at his foe, a face of worry and anger on his face. He gulped once more before bringing his hands up, preparing for a slug fest.
The Russian charged towards the man and unleashed a fury of kicks, punches and elbows. the soldier staggered back a bit but quickly recovered as he landed two straight hooks to the side of Kapkan's hips, causing him to grunt in pain while being tossed towards Smoke as well. The Englishman barely got to his feet and narrowly avoided Kapkan crushing him.
"Bloody hell mate, we're going to have to do something to take him down." Smoke said
"Da, I agree." Kapkan responded.
Smoke and Kapkan circled around the soldier, who was thinking about his own game plan, and he acted on it right when he thought of it. He lunged at Kapkan again, swinging mercilessly but Kapkan was blocking all of them, although barely. In an instant, Smoke performed a front kick and striked the kneecap of the shoulder, bending it back in a frightful anger that caused him to scream in agony. Smoke then tried to land a roundhouse kick but the maimed soldier somehow managed to grab a hold of his leg, preventing him from landing the kick, but this gave Kapkan the opportunity to strike.
Kapkan landed a vertical elbow strike downwards, landing on the bicep of the soldier, making him wince in pain even more. He recoiled back and stood up, despite the fractured leg he has. The soldier picked up a barbell and held it like a bo staff, and urged both Rainbow operators to swing at him. Knowing that the barbell had weight to it and he would be slow in swinging it, Smoke and Kapkan charged at the same time, nearly avoiding a downwards strike from the barbell. Twirling the barbell, the soldier charged at Smoke, who picked up a 20 Lbs dumbbell and tossed it as hard as he could at the soldier's face.
And it knocked him to the ground.
The soldier's face was now red. His nose, mouth, and cuts on his forehead poured out blood. He tried getting up but Kapkan grabbed the barbell and continuously landed strikes towards his face until he laid motionless, dead on the floor and covered the mat with his own blood. Smoke grabbed his ribs before walking up to Kapkan and patting his shoulder, laughing at what happened.
"Jesus fuckin' Christ man, I didn't know you were so brutal." Smoke's comment earned a chuckle from Kapkan.
"desperate times call for desperate measures." Kapkan responded.
They walked out the gym and found Fuze leaning against the wall, a large slash on his shoulder. Smoked pulled out a first-aid kit from his tactical backpack and began treating the wounds, most of them non fatal. Fuze explained to the both of them that he was assaulted by two assailants wielding knives, also explaining that he managed to kill the both of them, evident by the bodies that laid next to each other, knives sticking out their throats.
"Well, that's two more down for the count. Let's find Mr. De La Rosa." Smoke said, with Kapkan and Fuze follwing him.
Roman wandered by himself through the East hallway, and it was fairly long. He shook his head and realized the mistake of not exploring this side of the mansion. It became troubling to the young Rainbow operator as he heard glass shatter, which drew his attention instantly. Roman knelt down and pulled out his knife.
He's starting to regret not going to the armory and not getting more ammunition. It was his fault, Roman thought. The Rainbow operator approached the room he heard the noise come from and entered. The room was filled with various awards, from certificates to gold trophies hoisted on shelves, pictures of the De La Rosa family posing with their achievements were hanged on the walls. Roman then realized a third of the room was filled with his awards alone, all because he's the smartest one between his siblings. Well, at least he used to be as they're all University of California Irvine students.
Roman inspected a medal but felt some place him in a rear naked choke. He struggled for a moment before stepping to the side and slamming the person to the ground, breaking the hold instantly. However, it wasn't much as his opponent got up to his feet seconds later, apparently unaffected by the force of the slam. They both cracked their firsts as they knew they were in for a fight. The're both the same height.
Roman attacked first, going in for a double leg takedown, but the White Mask saw it coming and countered with a hard knee to the chest and a nasty left hook to the ribcage. The Marine recoiled back in pain but the vest he's still wearing provided a layer of protection. They tussled one another, one trying to gain dominance and position over the other, but Roman's experience as a black belt in BJJ and as a Marine Raider came into play. He sunk his right hand into the inside of his opponent's collar and used his other arm to yank him to the ground.
The Rainbow operator increased the grip on the inside of the collar and used his free arm to reach under his opponent's body and grab his arm. All Roman needed to do was to roll under to lock in the Anaconda choke but the soldier fought back by placing his right arm on Roman's thigh and used his left hand to grab the arm that's wrapped around his neck.
It was effective in stopping the submission, but it was bait the entire time. Roman trapped the soldier's arm and swung his legs over, trapping him in the omoplata. Of course the submission was painful as the soldier winced in pain, feeling his rotator cuffs tear apart as he tried to roll out but Roman controlled his hips by moving one arm around it to prevent him from rolling out.
And the arm bended in a direction it shouldn't had.
The soldier cried out even more, but refused to accept defeat. He used his good arm and with all of his strength, pushed Roman off of him and pulled out a pocket knife, ready to strike. Roman, however, looked composed and begged for the soldier to attack him again, and the man obliged. The soldier lunged forward, nearly slicing Roman's handsome face, which would've angered Taina, but the man didn't.
Each strike delivered by the soldier was effortlessly blocked by Roman, as if he had Ultra Instinct. The Marine moves was flawless, as if it took no effort, then he countered a overhand strike with a high elbow block. Roman then tossed him over his shoulder and onto the ground, maintaining control of the arm that still held the knife, and the soldier was still trying to fight his way out.
Roman then touched his left shoulder, realizing that he had just been cut unsuspectedly by the man laid on the floor, a mix of anger and pain in his voice. There was blood leaking, of course, but it wasn't enough to cause any harm. However, it did anger Roman as it did ruin a portion of his favorite tattoo, which was Goku in his Super Saiyan transformation.
"Anyone there?" A voice called out before Roman could finish off his opponent.
Roman was about to thrust the knife into the soldier's neck until he saw Taina peeking through the room, with Smoke, Kapkan, Fuze, and Tachanka behind her. He looked down at the injured man, who was in agony, and decided to spare his life, deciding that he'd be a good cell mate for Amir. Smoke handed a pair of zip tie handcuffs to Roman as he assisted in restraining the soldier, ignoring is injuries.
"What's your name buddy?" Smoke asked, picking up the soldier, with his colleagues behind you.
The soldier spat on Smoke "Fuck you Infidels, all of you the same."
Smoke delivered a punch to the soldier's gut, making him wince in pain even more. The soldier still relented as the SAS operator dropped him to the floor and picked him up from his injured arm. Fuze, Kapkan, and Tachanka smirked under their masks, enjoying the pain that the evil man was suffering. Roman was quiet, inspecting the damange the White Masks caused and was thinking of a good excuse to give to his family, particularly, his mother. Taina however, felt something different she never thought she would feel as a interrogator, remorse. Caveira wouldn't give a flying fuck about the soldier but Taina had separated herself from her sadistic persona, the former becoming a alter-ego all around. Her facial expression didn't go unnoticed by Roman.
"What? The almighty Caveira feeling guilt for the asshole who could've killed all of us?" Roman joked, a grin plastered on his face.
Taina scoffed as Thor came out of hiding and walked to her side "Caveira would definitely enjoy this bloodshed, not me."
"What you're trying to tell me is that Taina Pereira and Caveira are two different personalities sharing the same body?"
"Yes estupido."
"Says the one who didn't even go to High School."
Roman felt Taina punch his left tricep, and it definitely gave the man pain. Taina power walked from Roman and opened what remained of the main doorway, leading them out to the front lawn. Bodies of White Masks soldiers scattered across the grass, blood tainting the green, making them grow. The mechanical gates were hanging off the systems, threatening to fall off at any given moment. A groan was heard, which drew the attention of the Rainbow operators.
Another survivor, attempting to fight back with every strength in him left.
The other soldier tried picking up a AK-47, but Tachanka was quick to the draw and pulled out his pistol, aiming at the soldier's head and shot twice, killing him instantly before he could raise the rifle head level. Strike Team Delta knew that they couldn't bring Roman and Taina back to Hereford yet, it'd be rude to leave without saying goodbye. Also, Fuzd loaded up their prisoner into the truck.
Needless to say, Victoria's Ford F-250 pulled up.
The truck stopped right at the entrance of the driveway, thanks to the White Masks vechile blocking the way. María was the first one out of the vehicle, and she didn't look too happy. Walking around, she inspected the front lawn as the rest of the De La Rosa children exited the vehicle, looks of worry on their faces. Sirens were heard in the background, which alerted the Rainbow operators. María does notice the four strangers dressed in military gear, but all she cared about at the moment is the safety of her eldest child and his girlfriend.
"Mamá (mom)." Roman called out, embracing his mom in a hug.
"Mijo, are you okay? Are you hurt?" María's motherly instincts kicked in, rapidly checking his body for any injuries "You're hurt! There's a cut on your shoulder!"
Taina lightly chuckled, playfully punching Roman's new scar "He's alright, Roman's a big boy."
María embraced Taina, which she returned "Are you okay sweetheart?"
Smoke, Fuze, Kapkan, and Tachanka held in their laughter. None of them truly believed that Taina's a sweetheart, and that's all thanks to Caveira, her alter-ego. Knowing that they were smiling under their masks, Taina moved her hand behind her back and flipped them off.
"I'm fine, luckily, InGen security came and saved us."
María tip-toed and peered over the tall woman's shoulder and stared at the four Rainbow operators, who were staring at each other in curiosity. InGen, really? There couldn't be a better excuse than that? But when Smoke looked down at his shoulder patch, he noticed that his Rainbow Six patch was missing, and in its place, a InGen security patch. The same for the Russians, their patches replaced with another, but none of them knew how it ended up there.
"Yeah, ummm, the bossman sent us, we're uh, new to the unit." Fuze went along with the lie, and despite María being very intelligent, bought the lie.
Completely out of character, Tachanka, Kapkan, and Smoke shook their heads vigorously, all of them knew the reputation the De La Rosa has and how skilled the children are in martial arts thanks to the numerous news articles they read in Hereford. And if Roman is Rainbow's best operator, then God knows what María De La Rosa is truly capable of.
"Mamá, where's dad?" Roman asked, concern on his face.
María knew that her child only called her Mamá if he's scared "He's in Irvine mijo, handling what's going on, and it's a stalemate going on right now. Neither side is willing to budge."
Moments ago
Masrani Global Corporation headquarters, Irvine, California
It took a little longer for Strike Team Bravo and Charlie to arrive at their destination. California traffic, a living hell it is. Capitao still had a smile on his face as he drove the armored truck along the road, Rook passed out right next to him. Twitch was in the back fiddling with her drone as usual, Montagne was counting the number of dents on his shield, and Mute and Mira rested their heads against each other.
"You two are a thing now?" Twitch joked as she placed her drone in its pouch.
"No, we're not senora Pichon." Mira sarcastically responded, moving her hand through Mute's hair.
Mute smiled as he fiddled with his signal disruptor, or "Moni" as he liked to call them. Twitch was curious to their odd relationship but decided not to comment on it. Their age difference is significant, Mira being a decade and three years older than Mute, but love is love, right? And besides, they work really well with each other, Mute's disruptor's saves Mira's black mirrors whenever Hibana shoots her pellets or when Thermite places his exothermic charge. Their relationship is weird, but it's working, and they're madly in love with one another.
"What about you Pichon? I heard you have a crush on Julien, or was it Roman? I think you have a crush on my boyfriend?" Mira teased back, causing Twitch to blush furiously as she placed her balaclava to hide her face.
"Roman is cute, but he's taken already, same with Mark. I don't know about Julien, I think he's interested in someone else."
"You keep saying that and you'll push the love of your life away from you. Give him a chance, you may never know."
"Maybe." Twitch said, barely above a whisper.
The trucks pulled up into the parking lot of the headquarters after being scanned and cleared by the FBI. They were then allowed in, and they all notice how packed the parking lot was with law enforcement, Local, State, and Federal. You name it, Irvine Police Department, Orange County Sheriff's, UC Irvine Police (due to the scholarship program Masrani has with UC Irvine), FBI, ATF, every agency was there. Hell, even the California National Guard was there, but they were ill-equipped to deal with the White Masks. But Rainbow was there to save the day, if they could, that is.
The Rainbow operators pulled up to a fenced area, designated specifically for them. They parked their vehicles side to side, all the operators exiting in a professional manner. Strike Team Bravo and Charlie were ready to face the White Masks, but they encountered a problem, they had nobody to act on the behalf of Director Six. They all talked amongst one another, and came to the conclusion that Lesion would act as liaison.
"Oh God, he were go again." Ying sarcastically said, adjusting her shades as they entered the tent.
"Relax Xiǎo mèimei (little sister), I got this." Lesion responded, a smile on his face.
They opened the tent and found that it was filled with what they needed. radios, computers, food, water, all the necessities. but there wasn't a single occupant that wasn't the Rainbow operators. But they decided to set up their gear, each taking a spot around the large table. Guns clicking, magazines being slapped against one another, curse words being said by the operators. They were told by Director Six to wait for a man wearing a Marine Corps uniform, and that was all the information the boss lady gave them, saying that "they should be able to identify who they're working with in a quick notice".
"Well, can this man or woman hurry up any faster? We got shit to do." Rook said.
"I agree, but we should be patient. Just because Director Six gave us the okay, doesn't mean the officer in charge gave us the okay as well." Capitao responded.
Seconds later, a Marine wearing his Service Dress Uniform appeared. Four stars pinned on both shoulders, stacks of ribbons on the left breast pocket, neatly trimmed hair, garrison cap held to the side. None of them knew who he was, but his presence alone made them realize that he's the real deal.
"I'm General Mundy, it's nice to meet you all." Mundy said, walking up to each operator as they exchange greetings.
"You're the officer in charge, sir?" Lesion asked, chewing on his toothpick.
"Yes I am. I don't know why but I'm here." Mundy responded, walking to a empty spot around the table "There's one thing I want to ask before we continue. How's my Marine doing? Sergeant De La Rosa."
Everyone looked at him in awe, so that's his former commander, they thought. General Mundy chuckled when he noticed all of the Rainbow operators staring at him either in confusion, or awe.
"He's doing fine sir, he's actually the best operator Rainbow has to offer." Elena spoke up, swatting away Mark's hand under the table.
"That's good to hear. I don't expect anything but the best from De La Rosa. But that's not what I'm here to talk about."
Present time
Lesion has opted to say behind and act as liaison for Rainbow, much to the disapproval of Ying, but it was a good decision as Ying was leading the way for Strike Team Bravo, Hibana, Echo, and Ela followed her, covering and checking every corner and angle, in case any White Masks tries to sneak up on them. Glaz stayed outside and found high ground to provide Overwatch. They entered a break room, they entered, and closed the door.
Both Hibana and Ela noticed Ying and Echo glancing awkwardly at one another.
"What's up with you two? Both of you have been acting weird ever since you, Ela, and Lesion got here, what gives?" Hibana asked, checking out her X-Kairos.
"Nothing of your concern Hibana." Both Ying and Echo said at the same time, causing each other to blush.
"Rude." Hibana scoffed under her breath.
Ela was just quiet the entire time, but did pay attention to the small conversation the three Asian operators had. She knew the reason why Ying and Echo were acting very strange lately, as she has witnessed it before first-hand, thanks to her elder sister. Ela herself had a couple of lovers during her teenage years up until her mid-twenties, but the majority of those relationships never lasted more than three months. The longest was just a little over a year and Ela thought she would get married and end up having children just like her sister but her boyfriend admitted to cheating on her, and she never had one since. Ela wondered when she's going to find true love, maybe.
Echo fiddled with the device on his wrist, which connected to his Yokai drone he left in the hallway, and Echo smiled under his mask. Five White Masks soldiers walked down the hallway liked they owned the fucking place and paid for everything, fuck the De La Rosa family, right? Echo raised four fingers to his squad members, and they nodded. The four of them spread out at arms length, raising their firearms at the wall as Ying notified Glaz of their location. One of the soldiers tried opening the door, but noticed that it was locked, and it was the last mistake he would ever make as Echo disoriented them.
After quickly scanning them, Echo switched off his gadget as Ying ordered for them to fire through the wall. The five soldiers fell the ground almost instantaneously, none of them fought back. Ying unlocked the door, with her squad following her soon after. Ela pointed her Scorpion at the bodies, in the slight chance that one of them survive the onslaught and faked their death to bait out one of the Rainbow operators.
But none of bodies reacted when Ela kicked their heads, which drew a small smile on her face.
The green-haired lady placed a Grzmot mine on the doorway when they entered the large office area the headquarters is known for. A large glass wall gave a nice view of the parking lot and of Blizzard Entertainment, which is just across the street. Ela wondered if Daddy Kaplan is thinking about nerfing Mercy again, as she does play Overwatch too, although in secret.
Ying ordered her squad to spread out ten meters, a tactic she learned to keep others at a safe distance in case an operator triggers an IED and is caught in the blast. Tons of paperwork were scattered across the floor, some monitors were cracked and were hanging of the desks. Furthermore, several traces of blood were found, and it didn't signal anything good for the Rainbow operators, well, it coud.
Ying shook her head for a moment. She knew that if Lesion was here, he would make some fucked up joke about dead people, and he would probably find it hysterical.
Sounds of boots pierced the silence that filled the air. Hibana looked at where the sound is coming from and four more White Masks soldiers entered, apparently they're doing routine patrols around the building and as mentioned earlier, they act like they own the damn place.
"Glaz, do you see us?" Ying asked.
Glaz peered through his scope and found the rest of his squad, ducking and allowing the soldiers to walk towards them, although slowly. He felt like Jiraiya from Naruto when he got a nice view of Hibana, but his calm demeanor and professionalism kept the sniper in check. Glaz admitted in his mind that he was growing uncomfortable.
"Da, I see you four. What do you want me to do?"
Ying was about to respond but Hibana beat her "I know you got a nice view of me, so just enjoy the show."
Glaz gritted his teeth, not knowing how Hibana caught him staring at her, but calmed down moments later.
Two soldiers walked towards Ela and Ying. They nodded at each other and waited patiently as they appeared in front of them seconds later. Both soldiers raised their firearms at the strike team leader but when they stepped another foot closer, they triggered one of Ela's Grzmot mines, disorienting them and causing them to drop their rifles. Ela unsheathed her knife and held it in a icepick grip before locking one of the soldiers in a rear-naked choke and slicing his throat with her knife. Before the other soldier could react, Ying pulled out her pistol and shot at the other soldier twice, killing him.
The other two soldiers from the other side of the office space walked towards Ela and Ying but Hibana and Echo took them down before they could.
"Gowno (shit)." Ela said, removing her baseball cap.
"What's wrong?" Ying asked, standing up, placing her pistol back in its holster.
Ela looked at her baseball cap and became irritated "I got blood on my favorite cap."
Ela cursed in her native tongue as she placed her cap back on, clearly annoyed with the bloodstains. Strike Team Bravo moved down the hallway and into another hallway. The appearance of the hallway looked like it was ripped out of a horror movie. Poorly dimmed lights, sections of fluorescent lamps hanging from the ceiling, furniture and plants knocked down with the vases shattered. In addition to all, several pools of blood were also present, some leaving a trail to a room that appeared to be closed. The four operators approached the door, but decided not to open it.
They looked above and saw the word "Auditorium" above it. They looked down the hallway and read three signs that indicated they were also entrances into the auditorium. Ying found it really sketchy, but Echo insisted that he has her back, making her blush once again. Hibana and Ela took note of it again and they mentally agreed that they're going to ask the both of them the truth.
The four operators lined up against the doors, the three waiting for the orders of their squad leader. Ying nodded, and her team entered the auditorium. She tried radioing Strike Team Charlie, but there wasn't a response from Twitch or from the rest of her squad.
The auditorium looked outstanding. Lights helped showing off the state-of-the art technology that was displayed on stage, but the technology weren't the only ones being displayed on stage. There were eighteen bodies laying on their stomachs, but there was no blood around them, and Ying quickly assumed that the hostages were still alive. After clearing the auditorium of any potential hostiles, Ying ordered her squad to check on the hostages to make sure they're alive and breathing.
"Lesion, this is Bravo-One, we count eighteen hostages with us, over."
"Copy that Bravo-One. Strike Team Charlie is in a tight spot. Protect the hostages at all costs, Lesion out."
Ying cursed under her breath, completely out of character. She knew she should've have prepared more while on the way, but it was her own incompetence that could costs the lives of the hostages and her squad. Keeping Glaz outside to provide Overwatch was another huge mistake made. One more, and Ying's stint as a Rainbow operative could end short, just like her height.
Hibana and Ela placed their claymores and Grzmot mines down respectively, respecting AoE of the explosive devices. Echo moved one drone to one of the entrances and another by the backdoor, in case anyone tries to flank them. When he turned to his left, Echo saw Ying looking down at her boots and from first-hand experience in the past, the Japanese operator knew that there was something wrong with Ying.
"Mei." Echo called, which drew the attention of Ying.
She knew that he was serious when he's calling her by her real name instead of operator name "What is it? I already told you that I forgive you."
Echo couldn't help it but he pulled Ying into a hug, which she sighed into before letting a single tear drop down her face. Removing his glove, Echo used his thumb to wipe the tear away and his fingers to caress her soft cheek, a cheek that he missed kissing, a lot.
"We've only dated for a year and it's been a while but I can still tell that there's something wrong."
Ying managed to suppress her tears "I'm... just... scared to fail. What if someone gets killed? What if you got killed?"
"If I remember correctly, the last words you said to me before we broke up were 'Fuck you asshole, go die in a hole'." Echo joked, although it's considered rare for him to do so.
"I, um, I didn't mean to say those words, I'm sorry."
Echo lightly chuckled "It's okay, we can still be friends."
And those words shattered Ying's chances in hopes of reconciling their romance once more. Giving a small smile, Ying stood up and walked over to the hostages, checking them to make sure that they're okay. Hibana and Ela, as usual, were listening to the small conversation between the two.
"How long have you known her for?" Hibana asked, cracking her knuckles.
"A couple of months." Ela kept her response short.
"Note to self: Tease oni-san (big brother) later." Hibana mentally noted.
Right when Hibana stood up, the doors blasted open and bullets went through. One nearly grazed Hibana by a fraction of a hair, nearly taking her life. Strike Team Bravo took cover behind the props and fired back. Ying requested for backup through her comms but there was no response from the other side of the line. She quickly assumed that the White Masks had some sort of radio jammer, but that thought was tossed out of her mind when her headset was clipped off her head by the bullets flying at her.
"Shit, we're out of comms, we're going to fight our way out of this!" Ying shouted.
Echo pulled out a small tablet, larger than the standard-issue cellular device handed out by Six, and began moving his fingers weirdly. He opened up a programming device on the screen and typed in a security code, and smiled under his bandana. It was a small trick he learned from his friend that's in the 707th "White Tigers", but that's all he would mention about the said person. Three seconds later, he nodded in approval as he snapped his fingers.
Ela looked at the Asian man as if she was annoyed. The tempest thought that he was busy playing his stupid mobile game but her mind changed quick when she noticed the curtains unveiling the large projector screen. Echo cursed under his breath and began typing on the tablet frantically. Then, the sprinklers installed on the ceiling turned on and began spraying water. The rest of Bravo team quickly turned to Echo and caught him moving his fingers slowly to the left. The pressure from the sprinklers increased, which caused more water to pour out at an abnormal rate.
This caught the White Masks off guard, who were stupid enough to divert their attention to the sprinklers instead of focusing it on the Rainbow operators. Their actions bought enough time for Strike Team Bravo to gun most of them down. But one soldier managed to fire his weapon, one of the bullets striking a hostage who decided to peek her head out, and killed her. Neither of the Rainbow operators spared a second to check on her lifeless body as there was a bigger issue approaching them.
The White Masks decided to amp up the pressure by tossing their own grenades and C4, causing the chairs to scatter across the auditorium, debris mixed with the shrapnel flew towards Bravo team, who nearly dodged it. Echo tapped his tablet again before placing his headphones on Ying's head, who stared at him in confusion. Hibana took the cue and adjusted her earbuds. Ela didn't care as she's experiencing the thrill of a lifetime. Both of her remaining Grzmot mines were tossed, and were triggered almost instantly when it landed near the White Masks. The green-haired lady managed to kill two soldiers before being grazed on the right shoulder. And although it wasn't life threatening, Ela cursed.
"Ela, are you okay?" Ying asked, tossing a Candela over her head.
"Yeah, I'm fine. It just fucking hurts!"Ela dropped her SMG and pulled out her RG-15 pistol.
Strike Team Bravo managed to repel the attack and kill all of the remaining White Masks soldiers who wanted to linger a little longer. It was a textbook-style firefight, despite the one casualty of course. When Hibana noticed the dead female, she turned to the other seventeen hostages when they told her that they didn't like the woman that got killed as she was a "bitch" to everyone and promised that they wouldn't tell. When one of the hostages was questioned by Ying on who they were, the person responded saying that they're the Board of Directors for Masrani Global Corporation, and they so happened to be in a business meeting before the White Masks attacked.
Glaz somehow managed to snake his way into the auditorium and grouped up with his team. He noticed the small wound on Ela's shoulder and decided to patch it up, making her blush lightly. Before any of them could move, Strike Team Charlie came from the second story of the auditorium and pointed their guns at Strike Team Bravo and the hostages down below.
"Blue on Blue, don't shoot!" Ying waved her hand, lightly smiling.
Capitão waved his hand at his team and had them lower their guns to prevent any accidental fire. They soon joined each other on stage before checking the hostages one last time, and they soon left after. Minutes later, they walked out the main entrance of the building, SWAT teams from various law enforcement agencies, local and federal, waited for the Rainbow operators to fully leave so they can sweep and clear the building one last time to make sure that it's clear of hostiles and anything lethal that can kill anyone else.
"So that's how Rainbow operates? Interesting." Mundy curiously said.
Lesion and Mundy talked amongst themselves as Strike Teams Bravo and Charlie entered the tent. They removed their gear before settling down and relaxing, their muscles feeling tensed up due to all the gunfights they were in earlier. Ela, despite not wanting to talk to anyone at the moment, became intrigued with Glaz when he brought up the fact that he's a painter and loves to paint on his spare time and being a painter herself, they began to discuss various techniques they use when they paint.
"So General Mundy, what is the true reason why you're here? We know that you're a Marine general and if memory serves me correct, they don't have authority over the best Counter-Terrorism unit." Capitao asked, fixing his eye patch.
Mundy chuckled as he sat down on his chair.
"If you all didn't know, I'm being recruited into Rainbow myself as the new Deputy Director. And I don't know if some of you are aware but Six is going to be the Director."
"So two Directors then? Ja?" Glaz asked, diverting his attention away from the Polish lady to Mundy.
"In a way, yes. But Six will have more authority over me and I'll have to answer to her directly, no big deal."
"I believe Monsiuer Roman has a dad already." Montagne joked.
And so did everyone else.
Redmond, Oregon
Hal took a sip from his hot chocolate as he smiled, watching the television as the news casters began breaking down the White Masks attack in Irvine. Despite not killing any of the De La Rosa family members, he found the attack a victory as the damage caused should cripple the company and will make them lose several million dollars in investments. He also had his men gather data and transfer it to him though a secure e-mail, untraceable. Moving the curtains to the side, Hal looked out the window as his men were doing their daily physical training to stay in shape. He continued to look at his men for several minutes.
Until his attention turned to the door, a knock on the other side.
When Hal yelled that it was open, the last person on Earth that he wanted to see walked in. Wearing his generic suit and tie attire, John sat down, adjacent to Hal, his smile wiped off his face and turned into a stoic expression.
"What's up?" Hal asked, sliding the FBI agent a water bottle.
"Nothing much, I heard your attack on Masrani was a success."
"Yes it was, and I gathered all the intel I need, but they're not my main targets."
"That's fine, you can leave the rest to me."
Hal and John began to discuss their next plan, both men found it surprising that they weren't yelling at each other for once. John mentioned to Hal that he and his organization should lay low and take a break for a while, and Hal agreed. They began sharing information for another hour before John decided that he had to leave as he had a case in Portland to work on. Hal walked John out his office before sliding down on the floor, knowing the next plan could potentially have his life on the line. He planned on attacking Jurassic World next, and that's where the issue came in, that's where he's planning to go on vacation.
Both of them needed to take down Roman, as he's the key to the kingdom, and they needed it to fall.
"So what you're trying to tell me is that you're on Rainbow and you don't have the cojones to tell your own mother?" Roman's mother asked.
The cover-up for Strike Team Delta didn't last as long Roman would've hoped. When InGen security arrived, his mother went up to a guard and took his tablet, scaring him. She then searched their names on the database and nothing came up. Angry that her beloved and eldest son lied to her, she slapped him in front of everyone. Yes, in front of everyone, including Taina herself. If she wasn't Roman's mother, Taina would've fought the woman but then again, would she even last more against her in a fight, the only person who can make Roman tap so easily without breaking a sweat.
"Sorry mama." Roman pulled his mother into a tight embrace.
If there's anything that Roman hates in the world, it's lying to his own family, especially his own mother. It broke his hard when he saw his mother about to cry, a mixture of sadness and anger on her face. Angry at the fact her own son would lie to her and sad at the fact that she had to find out the truth herself when it could've been told a long time ago. While the InGen employees are busy cleaning up the mess Rainbow made, Roman let out the tears building up in his eyes, breaking down in front of everyone. His siblings were sad as well, finding it upsetting and uncomfortable that their big brother is not happy. Roman's colleagues found it the same way, but they managed to keep their bearing, but any sharp eye could easily tell that they were upset too.
Taina became upset as well, upset because she thought she had a part in it. When Roman covered for his colleagues and mentioned that they worked for InGen, Taina went along with the lie and encouraged it as well. She thought that she gave a horrible impression on her boyfriend's mother and siblings and also thought they would disown the both of them for being liars. None of them were shocked when they saw MarÍa pulling Roman into her own hug, upset that she physically harmed her eldest child and her own tears swelling up in her eyes.
"It's okay mijo, I accept your apology. Don't lie to me next time, please." María kissed her son's cheek like the caring mother she is.
"Of course mama, I promise."
Author's note (09/25/2018): I apologize for not posting a new chapter in over a month. College has gotten to me and I have to devote my hours into studying and completing my homework. I can't guarantee that I'll be returning to a every-other week schedule but the next chapter is under way and I can guarantee that the next chapter will be the best Rainbow Six fanfic you'll ever read.
