Back with the moment you've all been waiting for! Shigure and Dante are having a child! Now let's see how they will cope with this.
Chapter 21
Dante and Shigure sat in an awkward silence after Michael disappeared. So many thoughts filled their head. Dante didn't know whether or not to worry about the four horsemen or Shigure's pregnancy. Too many things were brought in front of them at once. Shigure was scared though, yet happy at the same time. She had never thought about having a baby before. She only recently learned about sex. Dante sat down on the floor trying to take in the sudden information.
Shigure slowly approached him then sat to his left, "Are you… okay?"
Dante wasn't happy about this sudden information. He felt scared and horrible.
"We… we have to ask Akisame about this." He said, "He's the medical expert here."
Shigure kissed him. Dante held her tightly knowing of the danger he had put her in. He didn't want to make her panic thought so he kept calm and acted as if everything was okay. At lunch Shigure went to Akisame's clinic during his break.
"Shigure." He said, "What brings you here."
"I think I'm pregnant." She said boldly.
His face remained blank despite how surprised he was, "Is that so?"
Shigure nodded.
"And what brought you to believe that?" He asked.
Shigure hesitated for a second knowing not to speak of Michael or anything about Dante's true origin.
"Have you been feeling sick?" He asked.
Shigure looked up then nodded.
"Any cravings?" Akisame asked.
Shigure continued agreeing with what sounded to her like symptoms of pregnancy.
"I see." He replied then walked to one of his drawers at the back and pulled out a strange white stick.
"Okay Shigure." He said, "Just go on this and we will be able to tell if you truly are pregnant."
Shigure took the stick then looked up confused, "Go?"
"To the bathroom." He said, "Pee on the end there. The stick will then tell us."
She raised an eyebrow at the stick then walked into the bathroom behind her and closed the door. A few minutes later she returned looking strangely at the stick.
Akisame took it then his face widened with shock, "Oh. You ARE pregnant."
Shigure looked down and smiled at the news. However, Akisame took it a little differently. He didn't really know how to react. He had watched Shigure grow up from a small child and now she was pregnant.
"You should tell Tony." He replied, "He would want to know."
Shigure nodded and left the room looking for Dante. The last thing she wanted was to tell anybody else and have them worry about her, but she never thought about Dante. She easily found him in the dojo sparring with Kenichi. When he caught sight of her he got distracted almost letting Kenichi get a hit in. He jumped back then dashed forward sweeping his feet out from under him.
"Sakaki!" He called to the beer holding karate master, "Take over for me. I'm taking a break."
He walked over to where his red shirt was lying on the floor and walked beside Shigure out the door. The whole time she looked at the ground not knowing how to tell him. She thought if she did that he would be mad or worried.
"So how'd it go?" Dante finally asked as they passed in front of the main building.
"I..." Shigure let out but didn't know what to say.
Dante's eyes widened then he smiled, "You are... aren't you?"
Shigure looked up almost with tears in her eyes. One tear broke past her and rolled down her cheek. She looked away feeling ashamed, but Dante slipped his hand underneath her chin and kissed her.
"No crying." He said hugging her, "This is a happy moment."
"What are we going to do?" She asked.
"What do you mean?" He replied brushing his hair out of his face, "This is our child. We'll parent them of course."
"But..." Shigure looked down, "But what about the... you know. Problem?"
Dante laughed, "Hah! Like I'd let those scum do anything to you or the baby. You'll both be safe."
He hugged her tightly, "I promise."
They both broke the hug and continued walking around the buildings. They walked through the thick woods in the back around traps laid by Shigure for Kensei.
"So when do you want to tell the others?" Dante asked, "I suspect little Kenichi will loose his freaking mind. Maybe even Apachai. And Honoka."
Shigure looked off wondering the same thing, "Dinner... when everyone is together."
Dante nodded, "I'll try to get Miu to cook up something special. Sound good?"
Shigure nodded and they both headed back to the dojo. The rest of the day they said nothing to anyone, not even Akisame who tried his best not to bring it up. Kenichi and the others noticed the pair's odd behavior, but shook it off. Finally dinner came and Miu brought out plates full of Chicken stir fry and ramen with sake for everyone. Dante and Shigure sat next to each other as usual, but this time Shigure clung to his arm which was unusual for dinner time.
"So." The Elder said noting their odd behavior, "Any particular reason for such a special and delicious meal tonight, Miu?"
Miu simply shook her head, "No Tony asked me to make it. You said it was a special occasion?"
Dante nodded, "Yeah. We're just waiting for one last person."
At that moment there was a knock at the door of the building. Dante jumped up and answered it, and to everyone's surprise it was someone they had not seen before. It was Vergil dressed in his usual dressy clothes with Yamato in his right hand.
"Hey bro." Dante said hugging his brother.
Vergil raised and eyebrow and pushed him away, "Woah. What's with you? You never act so happy."
"Have a seat. You'll find out." Dante said.
Vergil took off his shoes and laid Yamato against the wall.
"Everyone." Dante said, "This is my brother, Vergil."
"Hello." Vergil said trying to hide his many questions for Dante.
"Hello young man." The Elder held out his big hand and shook Vergil's, "It's so nice to meet one of Tony's relatives finally."
Vergil raised his eyebrow at Dante. Tony? He sat down next to Akisame who introduced himself and complimented his nice clothes. They all ate and talked for a while until finally Dante looked over at Shigure and she nodded. He took her by the hand and they both stood up.
"Alright everyone." Dante said, "We've got some big news."
Akisame calmly sipped his sake, trying to hide his excitement. Dante looked over at Shigure who smiled greatly and held him as tight as she could.
"I... I'm pregnant." She said.
Everyone at the table gasped except for Akisame who still sat calmly.
"Wow!" Miu said, "A baby! That's so great!"
"Congratulations you two!" Kenichi said smiling.
"Apa!"
"How very wonderful." The Elder said.
Vergil did not say anything. He simply looked at his plate then got up and walked out the door. Everyone looked at him then Dante followed him out the door.
"I'll see what's wrong." Dante said.
