Chapter 21: Kitsune Wedding

It took a lot of self-restraints for Kurama and Youko to not appear as they arrived in the place where the wedding was to be held. Botan and Koenma were both not invited to the wedding, saying that Enma was to be the representative with the great number of other guests that are being invited for this grand wedding.

The place, it was overwhelming as Kurama glanced around the place with Youko talking away in his head, urging him to hurry find Kagome as he complained about what little time that they might have left. Why had they not heard about who she was marrying earlier, or was everything just a lie, Kurama and Youko were both flustered, angered and annoyed at how much of a maze the place is.

"If you're searching for the bride to congratulate her, then she's going to be at the reception once the ceremony is over," someone said normally, but his voice was not raise and yet it travelled far enough for him to hear it clearly as though the other was talking to him right in front of him.

Kurama turned stiffly as he meet eye to eye with the person she is marrying after seeing the way that he is dressed, that same male that he had met the first time in the Tanuki Inn, and more recently, outside of Koenma's office.

"She's marrying you," he said that stiffly with annoyance in his voice.

"Did I not mention that?" Inari asked with a frown upon his face but his golden eyes were laughing at kitsune before of him.

Kurama growled at the offending male like he owed him the world.

"Now now Minamino Shuichi, and Youko Kurama, I was just steps ahead of you," the male said pacifying the soul of two before of him.

"She belongs to me! I saw her first," he growled, already up in front of the other kitsune and have him held forcefully by the front of his clothes, slamming the other up against the wall.

"She's unmarked and you never once laid claim to her," Inari said as he smiled in a provoking manner that goaded the other on.

"Inari-sama!" a familiar voice called out as a female rounded around the corner and made her appearance known.

Said female was the person of interest between the two and she froze when she saw Inari being held up against the wall forcefully with Youko pressing against him, almost choking the other with his strong arms.

"Youko…" she called out in a deathly whisper, eyes opened up in shock as she took an involuntary step backwards at the sight of him.

"Kagome-chan, you really should just call me Inari, or dear, after all, we will be married soon," Inari corrected her with a teasing tone upon his face, not seemingly at all affected by how he is being held in a threatening position by Youko Kurama.

Shuichi had given his body to Youko at one point, especially when their emotions now are both more and more in sync, the transformation coming even more easily with the thoughts of Kagome in their heart and mind.

"Kagome, are you really going to marry this person?" he asked her sternly, going up to her immediately as he grabbed ahold of the side of her arms as, a certain urgency in the way he asked her.

Kagome did not reply, but to look at Inari and then back at him almost helplessly as she looked down as though she had done something bad and was caught red-handed. Youko looked at her in disbelief, his hands on her upper arms tightened as his claws practically dug into her arms had it not been for Inari who pulled her into his arms.

"I'd be grateful if you did not hurt my wife-to-be," Inari told Youko as he had a certain demonic like smile upon his lips that would spell trouble for the other.

His protectiveness towards Kagome was more than obvious and it made Youko growled out loud, unable to suppress his own slowly rising anger at himself and Kagome.

"No, she's coming with me," he seethed through gritted teeth, golden eyes narrowing at the other male who only smile darkly at him adding to him a certain allurement of danger.

"Oh? And what will she be to you? Your mate? Or is she to wither away and watch you go around to those Tanuki girls just like in the past?" Each word that he said hit home as he held Kagome even more tightly in his arms, hiding her face from the other with his billowing sleeves as he carefully held her.

Youko gritted his teeth, knowing well of what he was speaking of, how the other knows of his past doings really should not be a surprise to him, but to say it openly, he was obviously trying to humiliate him before of Kagome, and that was also something that did not settle well with him.

"Well now that we know your answer," Inari said with an angry and gleeful look in his eyes, he turned Kagome down another direction, turning his head to glance at the silver kitsune with a warning look, "We have a wedding to commence with, if you're here to celebrate this joyous occasion, you're welcome to stay, however if you are here to create trouble, then please leave this place immediately, one of our kitsune attendants will be more than happy to show you the way,"

"Come my dear, it is time that we proceed on out to meet with the guests and commence in our ceremony, the auspicious time is about to dawn upon us," Inari said with a great amount of gentleness in his tone as he lead Kagome away from Youko.

In her eyes was a huge amount of hurt as she twisted and turned her head to look at Kurama, hurt, disappointment and something else were in it as she followed Inari. His words had reminded her of what he had done, and until now, there is still nothing going on between them officially, to put it in an ugly light, they are practically more like friends-with-benefits.

Kagome did not say anything neither did she turn when he called out for her, instead it was Inari who told her to ignore him and that they were going to be late for their wedding ceremony. That look in her eyes those silent words penetrated into their mind as they watched her walked away in the arms of another whilst they tried calling out to her. When they tried to catch up with her, only made it worse when he saw how much distance seem to be immediately put between them.

"Do you want him to come to the wedding?" Inari asked her softly an affectionate smile upon his face as a playful look enters his eyes.

Kagome glared up at Inari, knowing fully well what his words indicated, but did not say anything as she was led to the hall where their wedding will commence, a silent hope in her as she clung onto that tiny strand like it was her last sliver of chance, but then if she did give it to him, will he end up going back to his bad set of habits.

Inari seeing that she was not replying, smiled at her and led on the way to the hall, not even bothering to do anything to Youko and Shuichi as he chose to ignore the matter at the moment. It is their wedding day, and he was not at all willing to allow any bloodshed to ruin the moment when he finally gets her.

A/N:

Hello
Sorry that it took me so long to update, I should really be revising this story, but somehow I'm wavering on revising it again as it might change the whole plot all over again. I hope that you guys bear with me and enjoy this new update. So sorry for the delay again guys!

So sorry for the delay in update, I've been rather not too motivated for this story (and a few others) and rather dry as well on ideas. Mmmmh a reboot might be great, but I just hope that they do not ruin it with something overly fancy like how they did to a few. I hope that you enjoy this new update!
