The day of the Navy ball was the day of the first snowfall in DC, it was beautiful outside, Ej and I stood staring out at it as the others got ready. This year we had decided that we would all just meet at the venue which seemed like a good idea. Since Ej and I were dressed in our suits we had to wait for the others to get ready. Hayley and Sky came out first, Sky wearing a lovely deep purple dress with black flowers and vines going up the dress, whist Hayley wore a pink dress with a white skirt with butterflies delicately stitched into the skirt. Ziva was the last one out wearing a black dress, with flowers going down both sides of the dress, she looked lovely and it really pronounced her eight and a half month baby belly. I made my way over to Ziva and kissed her before whispering
"You look beautiful" into her ear and she blushed, before swatting at me when I went to capture her lips again. When I pulled back laughing I helped the kids get into the car and Ziva got in too.
We arrived at the hall and their waiting for us were the rest of the team, all the men were dressed in suits and the women looked incredible in their gowns. We all greeted each other and then posed to take photos as we made our way into the venue. Abby was wearing a sparkly silver dress that fell to about mid thigh, and she held Topaz who was wearing an adorable white gown with pink ribbon and a pink cardigan, they looked adorable as they posed for their photo as a family. The Palmer's were next with Breena wearing a red dress that was styled so she had one sleeve and the other arm wasn't covered, but on the sleeve of her dress were diamanté in a strip, Veronica and Lily wore similar dresses with flowers on the bodice and a bow in the middle, Veronica's was purple and Lily's was pink, they posed for the photo and as the camera flashed Veronica and Lily hugged each other as they were on the floor in front of Breena and Jimmy. There were awes as they came to stand with us, Gibbs and Faith were next, he had his arm around her waist and she was looking up at Gibbs with a smile on her face, it was such an adorable photo, and the dress that she was wearing was gorgeous, it was a white dress with purple pink and black flowers on it. The Vance's were last and they all looked very smart and dapper as Director pulled both Jared and Kayla into a hug, they smiled at the camera and looked beautiful, Kayla wore a dress with a black bodice and a light pink skirt.
We walked into the venue and the music was playing loudly as the DJ played, there were lights shinning all over the place and the kids were off, straight onto the dance floor which made us all laugh, everyone that is apart from Faith who stuck by Gibbs side until he ushered her onto the dance floor. We all watched this and he smiled sadly
"She's dealing with something that she's not sure she wants to be put out in the open" he explained and we nodded, it made sense I guess. Looking at my children on the dance floor I laughed they looked so cute, Ej and Veronica, Blaze and Sky, and Hayley and Lily dancing around in circles, I pulled out my phone and videoed them dancing together before I turned to Ziva and took her out to the dance floor. We danced to a couple more songs, enough for us to dance with each of our children at least once before we made our way over to the table to have our meal.
We were eating dinner when Ziva excused herself to go to the bathroom, we all nodded and Hayley and Sky went with her because they both needed to go as well. The rest of us were sitting chatting about work and our kids when Sky and Hayley rushed back to us Hayley almost in hysterics and Sky a little calmer than her sister, when they reached my side Hayley sobbed into my leg and Sky choked back a sob before she said
"Mummy fell over daddy, she said to hurry" I nodded on my feet before she had even finished talking
"Where is she Sky?" I asked and she told me that she was in the hallway coming back from the bathroom when she fell. I nodded getting Abby and Tim to calm them both down and got Gibbs to follow.
I ran around the corner and saw Ziva on the floor, leaning against the wall. She was holding her stomach and was breathing heavily
"Baby?" I asked as I knelt down next to her and she nodded, I looked over at Gibbs and he was already on the phone to the paramedics. Ziva screamed as the first contraction hit and she clenched my hand in hers, squeezing it so that I couldn't actually move my fingers. I looked back at Gibbs and he said
"The ambulance should be here in five minutes" he said and I nodded before Ziva screamed again
"I don't think she'll be waiting that long Gibbs" I said beginning to panic. I'd never dealt with a birth without being in a hospital with doctors, nurses and our midwife, I don't know if I could do this with out medical help. Gibbs hearing the fear in my voice knelt beside me and grabbed my shoulder squeezing it as he took Ziva's other hand,
"Tony go get Faith, Kayla and Ducky" he said and I nodded running back to our table
"Kayla, Faith and Ducky I need you to follow me, I don't have time to explain" I said rushing back so I could be by Ziva's side. When the others arrived Gibbs got Kayla to rush to find some towels whilst Ducky sent Faith to his car to get his first aid kit that he kept in his car
"This will be my third delivery, the first was in Guatamala some years ago now but it was a special occasion-" he said and the rest of what he was saying fell on dead ears as Ziva was in pain and Ducky told her to start pushing. Everything happened so fast, the girls were back just in time for the birth and then the paramedics arrived a short while later.
It was about an hour later when I arrived at the hospital after organising rides and the kids car seats. It had been hectic but I was finally with Ziva and our new born son. He had little tufts of light brown hair coming through and his little fists were clenched tight in a ball, as he slept in Ziva's arms. I leant down and kissed her forehead and looked at our son
"How is he?" I asked and she smiled
"He's great, really healthy, breathing on his own. When he was weighed they said he weighed 7lbs 6os" she said and I smiled. Ziva looked so tired and exhausted so I held out my hands for our son and held him in my arms.
"Do we have a name for him?" I asked, it had been something we'd been discussing over the past month but we still hadn't come to an agreement yet. She looked at me and smiled
"Hunter Isaiah DiNozzo" she said and I smiled, both of those names had been at the top of our lists when we'd first started talking about names for him. I leant over and kissed the top of her head.
It didn't take long for Ziva to fall asleep after that, especially since she hadn't slept properly the night before and today had been one of excitement. I was watching our son sleeping peacefully when I got a text from Gibbs to say that he and Faith were outside in the waiting room, I took the sleeping new born out into the waiting room and found Gibbs and Faith sitting in the far corner of the room. Both looked up and smiled when they saw me make my way toward them.
"Hey" I said
"How's he?" Gibbs asked and I smiled
"Healthy" I smiled and they nodded in relief
"What's his name?" Faith asked and I turned to her before laying my eyes on my son
"Hunter Isaiah DiNozzo" I said and she squeaked
"That's a great name" she said and I nodded.
"Yeah. I'm going to have to take him back to the room, but we will see you guys tomorrow" I told them and Gibbs nodded
"Of course see you tomorrow" he said walking out with a rather tired looking Faith.
The following morning Ziva woke looking a lot more refreshed and was even transferred from the room she was in to an out patient maternity ward until she got clearance from the doctor to leave. Hunter had been a very quiet baby from the moment he was born and when Ziva asked me to bring our girls in so that they could meet their baby brother I smiled.
"Morning Timmy" I said as he walked toward us carrying a still sleepy Sky, Hayley and EJ toddling around by his side. I held out my arms for Sky and Tim smiled
"Morning princess" I whispered kissing her forehead and she smiled rubbing her eyes
"Morning daddy" I smiled, telling Tim that we would be around his house later that day before I thanked him and walked with my kids back to the room that Ziva was in. Opening the door for them to walk through and the kids looking around frantically for Ziva they spotted her and squealed in delight noticing the little bundle in her arms and even Sky was eager to be put on the bed next to her. I dropped Sky next to Ziva and then helped EJ and Hayley up onto the bed before grabbing my phone out and started taking pictures of these moments.
"Guys meet your little brother Hunter Isaiah" I said and Sky smiled
"That's a really great name" she said before turning all her attention back to her baby brother.
