Chapter 21

Putting up with Ronald "Troll Brain" Malfoy was a vexing chore for Arphen and Harry, although one event cemented their conviction that they would have to do something to get through to him, or Lucius Malfoy would find himself with a dead adopted son … not that they cared either way for the arrogant pureblood faygeles that thought of Muggles and Muggleborns as far beneath him in the accepted Pureblood hierarchy …

~SAURONION~

Harry and company came across Oliver Wood, Gryffindor, having an argument with Marcus Flint of Slytherin.

"What is the meaning of this, Flint? You damn well know as I do that Gryffindor has the Quidditch Pitch reserved for today, don't you?"

"Take it easy there, Wood, I do have a note."

"Oh, really, Flint? I didn't know you could even write, much less think. Let me see it." Flint handed it over, and Wood read: "I, Professor Severus Snape, give the Slytherin team permission to use the Quidditch Pitch today so they may train their new Seeker." He looked up at Flint's face. "You have a new Seeker, Flint? Who is it?"

The Slytherin Quidditch team parted to reveal the face of …

"Draco Malfoy? You're the new Seeker?" said Harry.

"It's not all that's new this year, Potter – we also have new brooms: Nimbus 2001s, not even out on the market yet. The Weasleys would have to save up twig by twig just to afford them."

"A generous gift from Draco's father," said Flint with a sneer.

Hermione grinned. "No one on the Gryffindor's Quidditch team had to buy their way onto it, Malfoy – they entered it on pure talent alone."

Ron Malfoy walked forward and looked at her with loathing. "Who in their right mind asked your opinion, you filthy little mudbl-"

WHAM!

Before Ron could even finish his insult, Mjøllner flew out of Arphen's hand to send him a fair distance away to land on the ground with a bleeding mouth. As the hammer landed back into its master's hand, the Prince glared at the Slytherins, eyes flashing.

"DOES ANYBODY ELSE WANT TO MENTION THAT ACCURSED WORD IN MY PRESENCE AGAIN? DO YOU?!"

"You think you're so high and mighty, don't you, Lord Arphen of Olympus?"

"No," said Daphne, her sword drawn and ready for battle, "we know that compared to us, you and your Slytherin cohorts are nothing more than an annoying plague of arrogant cockroaches. Need we remind you that Lord Potter could demand monetary retribution from Malfoy for his insult of Lady Potter?"

"So what?" said Draco. "My Father is one of the richest men in this country. I would like to see Lord Potter try to get some monetary retribution from him."

Arphen grinned. "Ah, quite the challenge, you would think. We accept, young Malfoy. How about you and your fellow Slytherins get out before we hurt you some more?"

They did so.

"Arphen," said Harry, "how do you expect to meet Malfoy's challenge?"

Arphen's smirk was devious. "Oh, don't worry. I have a plan. I just hope I didn't kill Ron."

They walked closer to Ron's body.

"It looks like he's unconscious," said Neville.

"That works. Hermione, come here a moment."

Arphen whispered a question into her ear, and she responded to it. This was going to be too good, he thought as he picked up the Troll Brain's unconscious body and left.

~SAURONION~

Dr. Daniel Granger was in his office when Arphen showed up. "Arphen! What fair winds bring you here, may I ask?"

"Well, Dr. Granger, I have a patient for you. It seems I knocked out his teeth teaching him a lesson, and he's going to need replacements."

"Replacements, you say? You mean dentures, right?"

"That's it. You aren't too busy, right?"

"No, I'm not, and I'm always thankful for another patient." He looked at the patient. "If I recall your news from the summer, this is Ron Malfoy, formerly of the Weasley family."

"You're correct."

"What brought on this attack?"

"He insulted Hermione, sir."

Dan nodded. "Say no more. Will I need to worry about his father's ability to pay?"

"Nope. Draco, his brother, revealed that his Father is one of the richest men in this country."

Dan's face had a maniacal laugh about to break out as he steepled his fingers. "Excellent …"

~SAURONION~

Ragnok looked at Arphen. "Lord Arphen, we are more than happy to help you in this quest of yours to make Lord Malfoy suffer."

"More than happy, Your Majesty? With all due respect, it sounds like a dangerous mental condition. How much does Your Majesty plan to pay Dr. Granger for his service?"

Ragnok gave him a predatory grin. "Oh ... somewhere in the neighborhood of about …"

~SAURONION~

"FIVE HUNDRED THOUSAND MILLION POUNDS?!"

Emma Granger ran into the living room. "Daniel Granger, what's all the shouting about?"

"It's our banker, Emma, hold on … are you sure about this number?"

"I don't blame you for being shocked, Dan. Even I felt stunned the first time I saw the amount of the deposit. We have checked it over several times, and it clears as a legitimate deposit."

"Certainly there would have to be taxes paid on this, right?"

"The original amount was larger, but whoever did this deposit paid the taxes that Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs would have charged already."

"Wow … quite the news … thank you."

"You're welcome, Dan. Congratulations and have a nice evening."

Emma looked at her husband as he hung up the phone. "What was it, Dan?"

"Lord Arphen brought Ron Malfoy by the dental office earlier today. I had no idea that the Malfoy father was that filthy rich … he just paid me … wait for it … five … hundred … thousand … million pounds as payment, taxes already paid!"

Emma's reaction was to scream for joy as she hugged her husband and he swung her around.

"Oh, Dan, I just remembered … what are we going to tell Hermione?"

"He deserves a giant hug."

"Aye, that he does, Dan, and we'll see to it that he gets it."

"I will make sure he does," said a voice behind them.

Dan spun around with a scream. "By Thor's hammer, Michaela! Haven't I had enough shocks for the evening?"

She grinned at them. "I guess I should have knocked, but I thought I would come by to pick up any letter you have to give my son."

A couple minutes later, she left for Hogwarts …

Author's Note: Another chapter done. I can't seem to type a whole lot these days, since my current laptop has been on the fritz since sometime during the summer of 2013. Read and review!
