Authors Notes: So even though I'm just returning to this story after an extended hiatus, I would like to thank everyone who has kept up with this story or just found it. I honestly expected this chapter to have been posted sooner, but shit happens. Idealistically, I'd like to have season 7 finished this year but that's the ideal. Anyway, feel free to R&R.

"I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where. I love you simply, without problems or pride; I love you in this way because I do not know any other way of loving but this"

-Pablo Neruda

Dean had gone out that morning for the gym. It was expected to be a quiet day and they'd leave the hotel in a day perhaps. Another case, or a well needed rest week after this, it hadn't been decided yet. Sam had been sitting in his chair at the table; coffee in hand and looking at the laptop in front of him. In the room next to him was Kat, whom upon arriving back from grabbing coffee laid on her bed.

Sam was surprised when Kat ended up draping her arms around his shoulders.

"You're finally up," he joked.

"I've been up, just thinking," she responded.

He pushed his chair back from the table as she sat across his lap. Her hand grabbed his bringing it to her neck.

"What are you doing?" he asked.

"Am I warm?" she asked. There was a look of anxiety and fear in her eyes that Sam didn't see quite often. It wasn't the same concern that she displayed when he was going through his hell hallucinations.

"Well, yeah."

She dropped her own hand and Sam's slowly fell onto her shoulder.

"What is this about Kat?" Sam questioned.

"Just, nothing," Kat lied. "Besides, found anything on Osiris?"

"Who?"

"Shit, I forgot that Bobby explains that part."

"Psychic thing?"

"I thought we established it was because I was from the future..."

"It sounds cooler."

Kat gave a shrug. It had also been Bobby to tell them to get out of the town since Dean would be a target by Osiris. But that shouldn't be a problem since she had saved Amy and Dean had promised he'd let her go. Sure, Fate had it out for her, but at least Dean wouldn't be a liability in this case. Sam had a hand on her back and Kat leaned into him. How could she have ended up in a place with Sam Winchester? She was alive, or at least she was trying to convince herself that she was. Finding that she couldn't get out of her head, she broke the kiss.

"Are you sure you're alright?" Sam asked.

"Yeah, yeah I'm fine," Kat said, forcing a smile.

"You're a horrible liar."

"I'm not!"

Sam gave a small chuckle, and Kat ended up cracking a smile despite being annoyed at him. Damn, his smile...

"We probably won't be leaving for another day," Sam said. "Just to make sure the ghost doesn't attack again."

Forcing a smile, Kat gave a nod. Internally she was seething over being ignored.

"So, what about a movie?" he asked.

"A movie?" Kat repeated confused.

"Yeah, I mean Dean's wherever and we still have some free time since we never really go on, dates."

"That'd be nice."

The two walked to the nearby movie theater which was rather rundown. A small family walked out, the younger kids chasing each other. Kat felt a faint smile on her lips, craving what it would be like to have her own family. Only that wasn't possible with their lifestyle.

"So could you please tell me about what your life was like back in the future?" Sam asked as they walked inside.

"It's back to the future," Kat smiled.

"No, I'm serious."

It then occurred to Kat that she really hadn't thought much about how her life had been back in the future. Being in the Winchesters universe made her previous life feel like eons ago. "Sorta fragmented to be honest," Kat said. "But, smartphones were handy. I miss those."

"A smart phone?" Sam questioned.

"Like touch screens. There's the iPod Touch now, but eventually the phone becomes sleeker and more mainstream. Then my sister was just going into her senior year of high school, I think. I'm surprised honestly because her grades were horrible."

"The one you had that nightmare about, right?"

"Yeah, I'm honestly kind of surprised you remembered that."

"Okay, but what were you like?"

"I just sorta liked being on my own. Like I got criticized for being too independent and I probably put my work in journalism above all else. Except it was a column here and a column there. And I'm thinking about then now, and honestly it feels more like a dream. A very far off dream I can't really remember."

"Hey, sounds great though."

Sam paid for the popcorn before they found the theater.

"Did you ever notice how much you use your hands when you talk?" Sam asked.

"Not really. Most of my family did though," Kat responded. "Why?"

"It's cute."

"You stop that mister."

He shook his head in laughter, and Kat could feel herself falling in love with his smile. He'd stopped doing that in later seasons. The lights dimmed as the trailers started to play and Kat rested her head on Sam's shoulder.

When they got back to the hotel, Dean threw a newspaper down on the table.

"Where were you two?" he demanded.

"Just, out," Kat responded.

"Well we're not dealing with a ghost anymore since another a-hole ended up getting mauled by a ghost dog. Or at least that's what the police report ended up being since he was attacked last night," Dean snapped.

"You guys should have listened to me!" Kat retorted.

"Kat, look, maybe we should have listened to you to start," Sam admitted. "But you two need to get your shit together because you've been fighting over everything lately and I'm getting sick of playing referee."

Kat and Dean glared at each other.

"And you said what about an orchard?" Dean questioned.

"There's an orchard outside of town where Osiris is, but we need a rams horn to sorta stab him or something," she said. "Bobby should've called about this."

"Yeah, like he will," Dean snapped. "I need to go by the coroners office for this guy, are you coming Sam?'

"You'll be okay if I go with him, right?" Sam asked Kat.

"It's your job," Kat smirked.

Dean rolled his eyes and stormed out of the room. Sam kissed her forehead before following after Dean. The car ride wasn't necessarily unpleasant; that is if one ignored Dean's grumbling about how Kat's so called visions could be unreliable and when Bobby would call. Sam went inside to view the body finding the same red dust under the victims nails. He asked one of the sheriffs about where he'd find red dirt in the town before the sheriff happily responded that there was an old orchard on the edge of town. Outside, Dean snubbed the end of his cigarette out before hearing Sam open the door.

"Red dirt around this guy again," Sam said. "And Kat was right about it being related to an orchard, because one of the guys inside told me that there was one on the edge of town."

"Great," Dean grumbled.

They came up to a worn sign reading Dearborn Apple Farm. A few of the letters were worn and could barely be seen. The road kept winding through trees before they started to see a barn in the distance.

"So whatever we're tracking can't be any easier to find," Dean complained.

"Dean!" Sam shouted.

He hit the breaks as a man was running in front of them.

Kat had been trying to find where the rams horn they needed would be when the boys came in. She glanced up before looking back down, and upon realizing she'd seen the next victim with them, looked back at them.

"This is uh Warner," Sam said.

"You're planning on keeping me safe? Here?" the man questioned anxiously.

"Oh shit," Kat mumbled.

"Look we just need you to draw the symbols you saw in the barn," Sam told Warner. He grabbed a tablet left by the hotel.

"Why should we even trust him?" Dean questioned. "He just got put on trial for murder."

"And you're any different?" Kat scoffed.

"We have to help him, Dean," Sam stated.

Warner passed Sam the tablet.

"Well I'm checking out that Neal's Tavern," Dean shrugged, before walking out the door.

"I think we need to go back to the barn, see the symbols and what we're dealing with," Sam told the other two.

"No way, I'm not going back there," Warner protested.

"I'll stay with him, it's fine," Kat shrugged.

"You're sure you'll be fine on your own?" Sam asked.

"I can't really remember what happens to you once you leave him alone, but I can do my best to help Warner avoid his fate even if it's for a little longer," she told him.

Sam looked over at Warner and kissed Kat's forehead.

"Don't forget about the salt," he said.

She gave a nod of understanding before Sam left.

"What about salt?" Warner asked.

"I'd suggest finding a comfortable position to watch the tv on that chair," Kat said.

He reluctantly sat down as Kat tossed him the remote and poured salt around him. She put salt around the edges of the room and sat on the table with one of the guns that was loaded with salt.

Thankfully Dean had left the keys in the Impala. Sam sent the picture of the symbols to Bobby hoping to get a response on what they meant. He ran a hand through his hair anxious. She had to be somewhat aware of what could happen to Warner. The idea of leaving her with little training and homicidal ghosts that could attack worried him. He took a breath and started the car. Sam just needed this to be quick to prevent anymore damage.

He wandered the barn that Warner had described; there was nothing that would suggest anyone had been there for years. Then he felt his phone go off in his pocket.

"Hello?" he answered.

"Sam, the symbols you sent are Egyptian. You're dealing with Osiris, the god of death. He can see a persons heart and if their guilt ways even more than a feather then he kills them," Bobby said. "I'd suggest getting the hell of their."

"Why?"

"If he picks up on you guys because of Dean, you're dead."

"Yeah, got it."

The line fizzed out and Sam ran back to the car.

The door to the hotel room swung open. Kat picked up the gun and looked over to see two ghostly silhouettes. Warner screamed and jumped out of the circle before she could say anything. She attempted to shoot at the ghosts, only her aim was shit. One of the ghosts knocked her over and she let out a scream. The ghost didn't pay any attention to her before it went over next to the other. Her body was burning in pain and she passed out.

Fanfiction Gothic: You end up on a hiatus for months at a time. R&R is now considered Old Fandom Vocabulary. You use it anyways.

Authors Notes: I would like to give some time frame of frequent updating but for now it's gonna remain sporadic as hard as I try. Anyway, always appreciating the input.
