"Hanger's clear Drake!"
He nodded and looked out past the open bay doors. "Blade, bring that thing in here, it's clear but I don't know for how long."
"Already on my way. What took ya so long?" Blade asked as he eased the plane into the large cargo bay, the wings just sliding over the surrounding cargo.
"Drake!" Ruby shouted from her perch on the catwalk above. "More incoming! And they have RPG's!"
Drake looked over as the rest of the teens hopped out of the plane. "Phyrra, I need you on the plane. You and Ruby provide suppressing fire."
The spartan nodded and kneeled on the wing of their aircraft, pulling out her rifle.
"Dust one, get that Dust on the plane, Rory, Juane. You two stick close to them and deal with anything that gets too close. Yang and Nora, you two are anti-RPG. Shoot down any rockets that you can. LeeAnn, help me cover the doors!"
He looked over at the goons charging through a doorway and hurled the now empty sub machine gun, the weapon impacting against the man's sunglasses and shattering them. The man looked up in time to receive a face full of shield as Drake slapped the man away.
The plan worked well for a time, until one of the RPG's hit the plane they were all on.
The metal around them groaned with the stress and the floor around them shook, knocking some of them to the floor.
"What the hell was that?" Drake yelled
"I hit a guy and he shot a rocket straight into the ceiling." Ruby called down.
Drake turned to Silver who had a Dust crate in his arms. "How much longer Silver?"
"Give us another minute." He called back.
"Ruby look out!"
Drake looked at Yang, who was frantically firing shots, trying to shoot down an RPG but missing and turned to see it explode on the metal walkways the younger girl was standing on, sending her flying out of the open bay doors.
"Ah shit! Juane, take charge!"
"Wait what!?" the blonde knight was surprised as he watched Drake sprint past him and dive out of the plane.
He fell fast, the wind ripping at his clothes. Drake straightened his body, willing himself to go faster. The speck of red was visible now, closer, closer…
"Gotcha!"
He grabbed at her boot, pulling her against him and he looked down (well technically up but I mean he looked towards the sky) only to see the large aircraft explode in a giant fireball.
"Shit! Ruby, you alright?" he looked at the girl who's eyes were closed and had a drop of blood dripping from her nose.
He could feel his own nose bleed as the air pressure around him changed but that wasn't the issue.
He pulled at his parachute cord, once, twice, and got nothing. He looked towards the ground, noticing the trees rushing up to meet them.
He yanked at the cord on Ruby's shoulder, her parachute unfolding and bringing them right side up. He felt a sharp pain in his right arm just before they hit the tree line, the parachute snagging on branches, pulling the wires around his arm tighter until they snapped, dropping him onto the ground below. The sound of more cracks was heard as he bounced off the dirt and he looked up, reaching to pull the pin on the smoke canister as he lost consciousness.
"Well this could have gone better!"
"No shit!"
All around them were teammates and burning wreckage falling from the sky.
"Virgil! Grab those crates!" Juane, with Phyrra's guidance, had stopped his tumbling free-fall and now had his fall more controlled as his body was spread out, trying to get more drag and slow his fall. "We might be able to slow ourselves enough if we use the crates as a parachute!"
Virgil nodded, understanding the idea. He rolled up his sleeves and shot his arms out, his Dust tendrils spreading and splitting, grabbing all of the crates as once and pulling them all together. He wrapped them tightly around the crates, creating a net around them.
"Weiss, freeze them together!" Juane commanded.
The authority in his voice startled her but Weiss rose above the crates, landing on them. Myrtenaetser's chambers spun until it landed on the light blue cartridge, causing the blade to glow slightly. Surrounding the bundle with a glyph, she stabbed her rapier downwards, freezing the tendrils around the crates.
Juane looked down and thought quickly. "Yang, Nora, Silver! Stand under it and shoot at the ground!"
The three glided under the bundle, planting their feet against the bottom of their package and loaded their weapons, Silver brandishing his Dust cannons.
They fired in unison, the crate slowing visibly as their other team mates flew by.
"We're gonna land hard." Juane moaned pitifully.
Suddenly he was jerked off of his course and his free-fall slowed dramatically. He looked up to find that Alex was holding the back of his chestplate, along with Phyrra's boot. "Jeez you guys are heavy." She panted.
"Hey!" Phyrra protested.
"Maria and Blake are helping to slow the package, I'm guessing everyone else has a landing strategy so I picked you two up." Alex explained.
Juane laughed nervously. "thanks…"
"Nora, Yang! We gotta move!" Silver yelled.
"Okay!"
"Got it!"
The three leapt out from under the package and fired at the ground, the explosions creating enough force for them to land somewhat comfortably.
"How's everyone doing?" Silver asked.
"Bravo team plus Juane and Phyrra are good!" Alex replied.
"Weiss and I are fine." Virgil checked in.
"I'm good!" LeeAnn cheered.
"I'm on my way to you." Ren checked in.
"I spilled some tea on my way down but I'm fine." Rory laughed.
"I… may be a bit stuck but I'm okay I think." Blade sheepishly replied.
Yang looked around. "Ruby's missing. Has anyone seen Ruby!?" she was visibly shaking at this point.
Maria and Blake landed next to them and Maria opened her scroll. "Drake is also missing and his aura is critical. He might have broken something."
Yang opened her own scroll to check the status of her sister and sighed in relief to find that the girl's aura was in the orange area. "Ruby's also kinda banged up but at least she's not dead."
Blake nudged Yang's shoulder and pointed at a cloud of red smoke billowing into the sky. "Drake insisted each drop team having different colored smoke, that's Alpha team's smoke. That's probably where they landed."
Silver opened his scroll and loaded the messaging. "Professor Ozpin, we've retrieved the package but we have lost our transportation and have injured. Is there any possibility you might be able to send something to help us carry the package?"
He closed it and grabbed at the crates, which stayed together after it smashed into the ground. "Let's get moving guys, we've got a long way home.
