Woah! I'm so sorry this took so long to write. I had no idea where it was was going then BAM I wrote this all in the last two days... SORRY! It's quite long though to make up for it.
The door swung open to reveal and unexpected sight. There stood her father, he looked old, his hair was now silver and his face slightly more lined than when she had last seen him. He stood tall in his black pinstriped suit, his shoulders broad and a small frown in place. The cause of the frown, however, was the unexpected factor. At the end of her dad's outstretched arm was Beck, held by the scruff of his neck by her father, a terrified look on his face.
"Jadelyn, do you know this boy?" Were the first words to leave her father's lips and she could only nod in shock, her expression growing in anger each second. "Care to explain why he asked me if I knew what apartment you lived in and if I could help him get revenge on, 'two dyke bitches'?" James spoke with disgust towards Beck and Jade was soon feeling the same way.
"That's my ex-boyfriend Beckett Oliver. We broke up ages ago but he got mad when he found out about my new girlfriend and decided to be a dick about it… I thought he'd gone back to Canada after my girlfriend made him shave his head." The younger West explained, spitting in Beck's face slightly as she ended her speech. James gave her a knowing look before spinning Beck around to face him and leering down at him.
"If I see or hear you've been harassing my daughter and her girlfriend one more time I will beat the shit out of you and use my legal power to have you jailed for the rest of your life. Understand?" He threatened, gripping Beck tighter as he spoke.
The Canadian nodded ferociously and whimpered slightly. "Good. Now you better be out of my sight in the next five seconds or I'll stab you with my keys." James furthered and Beck ran down the fire escape stairs as fast as his legs would take him.
Meanwhile Jade watched in awe as her father exhibited traits that she had quite clearly inherited. After Beck had left, James turned to his daughter, a small smile on his face. "Hello, Jadelyn."
"H-Hey Dad." Jade almost whispered and opened the door wider to allow her father to enter the apartment, taking his bag off him to place in the hall.
Once she had placed his bag in the room, Jade crossed the space to take Chase from Tori and sit him on her hip. "Chase, Baby. This is our Dad. James West." She told the little boy, who was looking curiously at the man at the door.
James was staring in amazement at his son (who he hadn't seen since he was less than a year old.) "Hello, Son. How are you?" He asked awkwardly, unsure as to how to talk to little kids as he had never paid attention when Jade was a kid.
"You're my Daddy?" Chase asked, looking at both Jade and James in interest.
"Sure am."
"He is."
In getting confirmation, the small boy wiggled out of Jade's hold and slowly walked towards his father, all eyes following him. When he reached the eldest West he stuck out his hand. "Chase Taylor West." He introduced and Tori had to hold back her laughter at how adorable he was.
Once James had also formally introduced himself, Chase ran back across the room to Tori and hopped onto her lap and in her arms, nuzzling into her. Suddenly, the attention was all on Tori and Jade made her way to the couch to sit beside her girlfriend.
"Dad… This is my girlfriend Tori Vega… Tori, this is my dad, James West." The pale girl introduced them and Tori stood up to shake James' hand.
"Nice to meet you, Mr West. Would you like anything to drink, or eat? We have some quiche leftover from dinner if you'd like?" Tori's offerings startled the man, however, he gratefully accepted some coffee and Tori let Chase say goodnight to Jade and James before taking him to bed. Coming back soon after with James' coffee and leaving again to go and read Chase a story.
The two Wests sat in silence, awkwardly glancing at each other occasionally.
"Dad-" "Jade-"
They both started speaking at the same time and James gestured for Jade to continue, drinking his coffee slowly and thoughtfully.
"Dad, the reason I called you was because I need a lawyer… A good lawyer… In fact, I need the best lawyer." James nodded so Jade continued, "When she was younger, Tori was raped repeatedly from the age of seven until she was sixteen. She was in foster care as her parents died in a car crash when she was six… I want to get these people jailed for what they did to her dad. I love her." Jade told her father everything, thinking it was probably best to lay all her cards on the table outright.
It was silent for a few minutes as James thought over everything his daughter had said. "Do you know where the offenders are at the moment?" he enquired and Jade shook her head.
"I've hired a P.I. to find them. Tori hasn't seen them since she was able to move out. She was living in practical poverty with her sister until she moved in here. I pay for her sister a little as well… I couldn't take to see them suffering." Jade could only hope that her father wouldn't suddenly decide to pull all her funds to prevent her helping her girlfriend and Trina, but to her surprise he did quite the opposite.
James' heart was warmed at how good of a person his daughter was and he was glad his money was being put to decent use. "You did the right thing, Jadelyn. You did the right thing paying for those girls and you did the right thing coming to me. First thing tomorrow I will make the necessary calls and soon enough we'll find the disgusting criminals and we'll have them jailed."
Jade smiled and thanked her father, getting up to unfold the sofa bed, however, she was halted by his hesitant voice.
"Jade?"
"Yes, Dad."
"You love her?"
"More than anything." Jade felt her heartbeat get faster and she fiddled with the rings on her fingers.
"And she loves you?"
"So she says…"
"I'm happy for you, Jadelyn." Was all James had to say on the matter, being in no position to judge his daughters choice of partner even if he minded it was a girl or not.
"T-Thanks." Jade stuttered, pulling out the bed quickly and straightening the sheets on it. "Goodnight." She whispered, lifting her hand in a half-committed wave.
James strode forward and wrapped his arms around his little girl, briefly squeezing her before breaking away and taking a few steps back. "I'm so proud of you Jade. Remember that. Night."
The pale girl nodded her head and quickly retreated to her bedroom, dropping down onto the bed with a sigh and waiting for Tori to join her from the bathroom.
Tori quietly crept from the bathroom to their bedroom, not wanting to disturb Jade's father who was already asleep, or so she thought.
"Tori." James spoke, sitting up to look at her.
"Yes Sir?" She enquired softly, glancing at the door to their room before walking half way over to him.
"I'm sorry to hear about your parents and what happened to you… I will get you justice, do you understand?" His voice was serious and stern and Tori could only nod. "You make both my children so happy… I can't thank you enough."
His latter statement surprised Tori, "N-No problem. I love them both… They're amazing people." She told and he nodded in agreement.
"Night, Sir."
"Please… Call me James." The man asked and Tori nodded once before turning and joining her girlfriend in their room.
As she entered Jade peered up from her position on the bed, "You took ages!" She exclaimed and Tori chuckled, crawling to lie down next to the girl on the bed.
"I was hijacked by your dad on my way back to our room… He's really nice?" She phrased her statement as a question as she'd always been under the impression Jade's dad was a horrible, neglecting soul.
"I know…" Was all Jade could say in reply and she quickly changed into her pyjamas before re-joining the tanned beauty on the bed. "It's weird."
Tori hummed in agreement and backed her body into Jade's so she could be the little spoon. "Maybe he's changed? It happens… I mean look at us now compared to a year ago!" Tori's argument did make some sense and Jade tucked her head into hazel hair, kissing the back of Tori's neck.
"Well… Only time will tell, I guess."
"I guess so."
oooOOOooo
Jade woke the next day to the soft feeling of Tori's breathing on her neck. They lay twined together, her girlfriend's face nuzzled into the crook of Jade's neck and her arms wrapped round the pale waist.
"Baby?" Jade softly questions, trying to determine whether Tori was asleep or not. A groan was her only reply and she chuckled quietly, kissing her girlfriends temple and prying the arms around her waist open so she could slip out, replacing her body with her pillow. Jade watched in awe as her girlfriend curled up instantly around the pillow.
Shaking her head at the half-Latina's antics, Jade got dressed quickly and made her way into the main apartment, expecting to find her father asleep. However, the sight she was met with was one much more familiar to her. James West was sat at the dining table, coffee in hand, and numerous papers spread out around him. His mobile was plastered to his ear as he engaged in important phone calls to various different lawyers.
The unusual thing for Jade this morning though, was the fact, the minute her father saw her he excused himself from the call he was having and put the phone down, standing to greet his daughter good morning.
"Good morning, Jadely- Jade." He stuttered, grinning sheepishly. "I've managed to get a lot done on Tori's case this morning." The man gestured to his phone and the papers to ensure Jade understood.
Jade just nodded, not willing to talk to anyone but Tori or Chase until she had consumed her morning coffee. Walking to the kitchen she found her coffee maker had already used and a pot of steaming hot coffee was sat waiting for her. Glancing up she caught James' eye and he shrugged, lifting his own cup to show her he had needed to use it. Jade only nodded again and poured herself a mugful, clasping it in both hands as she made her way to her brother's room.
"Chase, Munchkin, it's time to wake up." She cooed as she entered, placing her coffee down on his desk and moving to kneel beside his bed.
The little boy stirred slightly and opened his eyes a little to look at her, "School?" He questioned, disorientated by sleep and unsure of what day it was.
Jade laughed and stroked a hand through his messy black hair, "Nope! It's Sunday… You're missing Spiderman though." She teased, lifting him up from under the arms, his tiny legs wrapping around her waist and arms locking around her neck as he rested his head on her shoulder.
"Couch, pwease." He requested and she chuckled softly, kissing his forehead and walking out to place him gently on the sofa, switching the TV on for him and returning to his room to grab her coffee and his Spiderman comforter. Jade tucked the blanket round the little boy and finished her coffee, moving back into the kitchen she put her own cup away and quickly made a milky coffee for her girlfriend and went back into their bedroom.
Tori was still asleep curled around Jade's pillow, an adorable look on her face as she muttered about how good Jade smelt, her cute little nose sniffing at the pillow she was clutching tightly. Jade smiled and placed the coffee on her bedside table, rolling onto the bed to replace the pillow with her body. The tanned girl instantly latched onto her pale counterpart and hummed contently as the strength of the smell of Jade increased.
"Wakey, wakey, Sleepyhead." Jade mumbled and Tori wriggled her face further into the crook of the pale neck. "I bought you a nice milky coffee… It's going to get cold, you don't want that now, do you?" Jade teased in her baby voice.
"The temptation of coffee doesn't work on me like it works on you…" Tori mumbled, causing Jade to laugh loudly and the tanned girl to frown at the noise. "Shhhhh, loud." She hushed and her girlfriend quickly quietened herself.
Jade was quickly running out of ideas to wake the sleeping girl so she went straight for her most persuasive one. Shifting slightly so she was leaning over Tori, Jade attached their lips and moved them slowly, grinning into the kiss when she felt her girlfriend start to respond.
"That's cheating." The half-Latina mumbled, slowly opening her eyes as Jade pulled away from the kiss.
"All is fair in love and war." The darker haired girl quoted and she sat up, passing the coffee to her still sleepy girlfriend. "My dad's been working all morning on your case… I also got a text from Joe, the private investigator, this morning saying he's found something on Steve and Carol." Jade hesitantly told, not wanting to overwhelm Tori so early in the morning.
The tanned girl looked up from her coffee to examine her girlfriend, her eyes tracing the features on the pale face. "Firstly, you're so beautiful. Secondly, why do you look like you're telling me you just split tomato juice on my favourite pair of jeans?" She questioned and Jade chuckled, relaxing slightly in knowing Tori wasn't about to break down at the news.
"I-I just… I mean… Well, I didn't want to upset you. I don't really know how to approach the subject with you. I'm always scared to make you cry because it breaks my heart when you do." Jade explained.
Tori nodded along, finishing her coffee and placing the mug down to wrap her arms around her nervous girlfriend. "I'm fine talking about it to you. I know you're just trying to help and I really appreciate you and everything you do for me and my sister… Please don't be nervous or scared around me ever." She said seriously, kissing Jade's plump pink lips after each sentence. "You may even make me cry if you are." She added jokingly to lighten the mood and Jade swatted her playfully.
"Now who's the meanie?" She teased and Tori kissed her again to excuse herself.
"Thanks for the coffee, by the way. Oh, and where is the tiny ball of cuteness this morning?"
Jade pointed to the living room through the door, "Where he always is on a Sunday morning… Watching Spiderman."
oooOOOooo
Later that day Joe came round to show Jade, Tori and James what he had found on Steve and Carol. The half-Latina was incredibly nervous and she sat in her girlfriends lap, clinging to her as the private investigator showed them pictures of her abusers outside their current house. Having to see them again brought back all the horrible memories for the youngest Vega and she wept into the crook of Jade's neck as James talked to the P.I. about getting the offenders arrested.
Deciding it was enough for the day, Jade asked Joe to leave and her father went too, intending on finding a more permanent residence for himself and to talk to the police and the LA branch of his law firm.
Finally alone again, the young couple and Chase (who had been watching cartoons all morning) decided to head to the beach for a picnic and to get some exercise.
oooOOOooo
Arriving at the beach, Chase instantly ran for the sea, stopped only by Tori who wrapped her arms around his waist, hoisting him onto her hip. "Heh, hey, hey! Where do you think you're going, Little Man?"
"Tor Tor, stop! I want to go to the seaaaa." He giggled and squirmed in her arms.
The half-Latina laughed, passing her bag to Jade and running down the beach to the sea with Chase still in her arms. She plunged them both in when they reached the ocean edge and they resurfaced in chokes of laughter. Jade anxiously stood on the beach watching them, praying they would be careful.
"Come on in, Babe! The water's so warm." Tori yelled to her girlfriend and watched as the pale girl nervously edged towards them, cringing when the water lapped around her legs. The tanned girl picked up Chase and walked over to meet Jade, talking her hand and leading her to waist deep water. "See… My promise still stands, I'll never let anything hurt you… Including dolphins." Tori reconfirmed and Jade smiled a little.
"I love you so much, Tori Vega." The raven-haired girl whispered into her girlfriend's ear as she took her brother from her, dunking them both underwater when he was secure in her arms.
After half an hour, Jade decided she wanted to sunbathe instead of swim and she emerged from the ocean, much to Tori's pleasure, in a practical slo-mo scene from a movie. She ran her hands through her wet hair and the water glistened of her pale body, clad only in a fitted black bikini. Tori gaped from her position in the sea and the pale beauty turned round to wink at her before lying down on her towel.
Ten minutes later Jade's half slumber was interrupted by a cough. Lowering her sunglasses she opened her eyes a little to peer at the offending cougher, a well-built, tanned teenage boy.
"Can I help you?" Jade enquired lazily.
"Hi, I'm Jonah… My friends and I were wondering if you wanted to join our volleyball game. Or we could join you here, if you don't mind?" He asked.
The whole time this exchange had been happening, Tori had been watching from the sea and deciding it had gone on long enough, had grabbed Chase and marched her way up the beach.
Jade chuckled to herself as she saw the angry half-Latina approach the poor boy from behind, knowing what was coming next.
"Yes she does mind." Tori half-yelled, letting Chase run to Jade so she could dry him off. "If you don't move away from my girlfriend in the next five seconds, I am going to personally see to it that your 'manhood' is permanently damaged, understand?"
The boy immediately stood up and jogged his way back down the beach to his friends, a scared look on his face.
"You looked like Jadey just then, Tor Tor," Chase said, giggling and Jade laughed, nodding in confirmation.
"You're so cute when you're jealous, Babe." The oldest West, cooed and Tori huffed down next to her, her half-naked body being dried in the sun almost instantly.
Tori looked over at her companions and then back to herself, noticing the difference in skin tone more than ever in the direct sun. "You better put sunscreen on, you two." She warned and popped the lid off a bottle to start lathering it on Chase. The little boy squirmed with displeasure but Tori relented and soon he was covered head to toe in the sun protecting lotion.
"Now you, West number one." The tanned girl joked to her girlfriend who instantly bolted away at the mention of sunscreen.
"No, no , no! I hate sunscreen, please!" She begged Tori as she was tackled to the ground by the girl, the spraying sunscreen bottle lifted for attack. "I beg of you, nooooooooooo." Jade yelled as her girlfriend started spraying every inch of her with the greasy liquid.
"Have to protect your beautiful, flawless, perfect skin." Tori told her as she rubbed the cream onto the pale skin. Chase watched from the towels, cheering Tori on and laughing at the girls' antics.
oooOOOooo
After they had finished at the beach, they went for ice cream on the pier. Eating their cold goodness, Tori noticed her girlfriend had wondered off and eagerly followed the path she saw her take, a sleepy, ice cream covered Chase in her arms. After a short walk Tori stopped outside a pet shop, surprised her girlfriend would have gone in there. Shifting a now sleeping Chase on her hips, she made her way into the shop and spotted her pale counterpart bent over a large glass cage.
Sneaking up behind her the tanned girl peered over her girlfriends shoulder at the contents of the cage. Bunnies. Tori laughed quietly, not wanting to wake the little boy in her arms and moved round the cage to get a better look at the animals Jade was fawning over.
"Look, Tori. Bunnies." Jade said cutely and the half-Latina giggled.
"They're cute, just like you." Tori replied, placing her hand over the eldest West's on top of the cage.
Looking up from the animals Jade stared across the cage at Tori, her eyes wide like a puppy dogs, looking hopefully at the tanned girl, "Can we get one? Please." She asked in a baby-like voice.
An idea suddenly came to Tori and she looked from her girlfriend back into the cage, "Which one might you want?" She asked slyly.
The dark-haired girl tore her eyes quickly back into the cage and pointed at two of the bunnies. "That black one and that grey one." She instantly replied, obviously having chosen them the minute she had found the cage.
Tori laughed and walked back around the cage to the excited girl. "Maybe when Chase is a little bit older and we have a house not an apartment." She gestured to the sleeping child in her arms and kissed the pout on her girlfriend's lips, a plan forming in her mind.
Jade huffed but nodded in agreement with what her girlfriend was saying, "I guess." She said, taking one last look at the rabbits before leading Tori out of the shop.
