Toothless was lost. The dragon had no clue where he was. All he knew was to get as far away from the danger as possible. He felt awful for leading the Red Death to the Pole...but he did it to protect his master. Hiccup was his best friend, and sacrifices had to be made in order to guarantee his safety.
But now Toothless was ashamed. He did not want Hiccup to find him and put him in more danger. He forgot that Manny had connected him with Hiccup when they became spirits. Their bond allowed them to always find each other. So Hiccup's tracking senses were just as good as his.
A small cave welcomed him from an oncoming storm. Not wanting to get wet, Toothless crept into the deserted cave to retire from the day and hide from the world. Unbeknownst to him, it was not a thunderstorm...
"This way!" Hiccup pointed to a dense forest.
"You sure?"
"Yes Jack! I know he's there...I can feel it."
Jack laughed, "In your belly?"
Hiccup could not help but laugh with him. The happy moment ended when Hiccup landed in front of a small cave. Jack squinted his eyes, but could not see or here anything inside.
"Toothless? I know you're in there. You know you can't hide from me." Hiccup slowly entered the cave. "Look, everything that's happened is not your fault. It's Pitch. Please don't blame yourself...I want my friend back."
Toothless wimpered, shielding his eyes with his massive wing. Just like when they first met as humans, Hiccup continued to approach the dragon. He reached out his hand. "Toothless..."
The dragon looked up. Hiccup could see in his eyes how hurt he felt, and it broke his heart to see the fearless dragon this way. Jack stood at the entrance of the cave in silence. This was something only Hiccup could do.
Toothless stood up, and with his ears back, he made contact with Hiccup's hand. Hiccup immediately hugged his neck, tears streaming down his face.
"I'm so glad to see you..." Toothless nuzzled closer to Hiccup in answer.
"Uh, guys...we've got a big problem." Jack, followed by Hiccup and Toothless, saw outside lightning striking the ground and nothing but fire and nightmares covering the sky.
"We need to get back to the Warren, now!" Hiccup jumped on Toothless and pulled Jack up with him. "I'm not gonna lose you in this mess. Jack did not argue as Toothless flew as fast as he could to the Warren.
"What do you mean they left?"
"How long have they been gone?"
The guardians tried to calm Merida and Rapunzel down, but to no avail. After Jack and Hiccup left, their memories of them came back. The curse had been lifted for some reason. It was a pleasant surprise, but the guardians could not help but wonder why. Their answer awaited silently outside the home of Bunnymund.
"Miss me?"
Hearing that silky voice, everyone ran outside to meet the Nightmare King smirking in front of them. North stormed towards him, closely followed by Bunny.
"Vat es de meaning of all o dis hocus pocus?"
Pitch just stared at North with an indifferent expression.
"Just leave the kids alone, a'right?!"
Again, Pitch made no reply to Bunny either. He walked around them to look at Rapunzel and Merida.
"Enjoy my little trick ladies?"
Rapunzel was frozen with fear. Merida managed to reply. "I don't know what you did, and I don't wanna know. What I do want is for you to get the hell out of here and leave us all alone! Or else..." Merida drew her sword out, immediately becoming engulfed with flames.
Pitch laughed. "You think you can defeat me? HA! You are missing two key members...oh, make that three. It seems your dragon has found its master again, reunited for the last time."
"What are you talking about?" Merida pointed her sword towards Pitch.
"Well, my dear, it seems my dragon is ravinous, and has created a storm to entrap Jack, Hiccup, and the Night Fury. I'm afraid they're doomed...as are you."
No one could say anything before Mordu rose from the shadows, eyes piercing and mouth drooling. Everyone got their weapons ready as Merida charged to Mordu. Pitch stepped back to avoid being sandwiched between the two. Nightmares appeared to distract everyone else.
Toothless barely dodged the wave of fire suddenly appearing from what Hiccup and Jack believed to be the Red Death. They knew they could not fight the monster like this. Then Jack face palmed himself for being so careless. He reached in his pocket of his hoodie and pulled out a snow globe.
Hiccup rolled his eyes. "Five minutes ago would have been nice."
"Yeah, well, where'a the fun in that?"
The snow globe was thrown and the portal was opened to the Warren where a battle raged on.
A/N: Hey guys! I wanted to explain some things. Pitch has lifted the curse, so Rapunzel's and Merida's memories are back! Yea! I probably freaked you guys out these last few chapters. And sorry for the one swear word, but when Merida gets mad, y'all know you better watch out! Another thing, I wanted Hiccup and Toothless to have this connection. Yes, Hiccup's element is the earth, and can use the wind to manipulate the earth like make mountains, plateaus, etc. with a wave of his hand. But I love the relationship Hiccup and Toothless have. And yes, I wanted Toothless to have a moment, and I made it short and sweet (not sweet) before Hiccup came to save him. So yeah, there you go! I hope you liked this chapter! Thank-you so much to my readers, followers, favoriters, and reviewers! I love you all! You keep me going! Cookies and cupcakes for everyone! Happy Valentine's Day!
