Chapter 23

(Little late, I know... The website crashing several times was NOT helpful at all -_-" Hope this Chap makes up for it though! I'm SO sorry for the wait... BUT. After this chapter, only two more chapters until the end! So enjoy these last chapters, readers! ;))

Later...

It was around 9 PM before they ended their Interrogation. I was exhausted and grumpy... And uncomfortable that my 'bed' was that damn lab table.

Cold, unforgiving metal was covered by a crappy 'blanket', and a nice enough pillow. I knew the guys were trying, so I didn't complain about bedding arrangements.

I did complain the fact that Raphael was by guard.

Yeah, they gave me a poor excuse. That Raph was just there in case my INJURIES started acting up. I knew the real reason. They wanted to make sure I didn't act up. Not that I could blame them. I was still trying to find the nicest exits from their home, the sewers. I'd rather not fall on my face in sewer water again.

As I lay on my bed, listening to the computer give out an annoying BEEEP, I thought about Monday. What the hell was I gonna say to april? She wouldn't fire me, but she'd question me... And that is harder to do the handle being fired. She'd demand to see my scars and bruises, probably drag me to the police station so I can 'Report' the incident... All the while giving me almost mother-like attention that would make me uncomfortable.

I already knew what's Casey do. He'd glance at me, asked if I had at least kicked the guys ass, then laugh when I told him yes. Then he'd make me go and do all the hard labor, ignoring the fact I have injuries.

Is it weird I want to go with the latter?

Don't get me wrong; I Like April. She's like a sister... A sister who frets, yells, hugs, demands, and makes me feel like an awkward teen. Casey is the first guy I met in New York... He's pretty much the big-brother-you-wanna-punch-in the-face-then-laugh-about-it-later-over-soda kind of guy. He's also the guy who isn't afraid to get into a fist fight with a customer, which basically makes me his babysitter when April isn't around.

I sighed, then closed my eyes, starting to drift off. Monday was still a couple days away... I could plan a excuse before that, right?

Yeah, right...

Cold. Rain. Running. Yelling.

"Hurry up!" The young teenage girl hissed to the eight year old behind her. Her crystal blue eyes wide with panic, she gripped his hand like a lifeline, tugging him forward to match her speed.

The boy yelped. "Calm down! Maybe Jay distractedhim!" He insisted, though his green eyes were wide in terror. The girl ignored him as they raced around a tree in the darkness of the woods. "Do you wanna bet your life on it kid?!" She hissed, ducking to avoid a low hanging branch, which gazed across her shoulders. They both froze as a low, twisted laugh echoed around them.

The girl picked up the boy and raced forward... Before they were forced to stop in a small clearing, wall of rock before them. The boy tried climbing up to the ledge above, but the rocks weren't made for climbing.

The hairs on the back of the girls neck stood up, and she whipped around to face the owner of the twisted laugh...

And the black gun in his hand.

I gasped, jolting awake and drenched in cold sweat. I was panting, trying to slow my heart beat. My eyes darted around, before landing on the clock.

5:07AM. Too early. I forced my body to lay back down, closing my eyes again. Maybe I could clam down enough to get some more slee-

"Are you ok?"

I jolted and my mouth opened to scream, but I was pressed back down against the bed, hand covering my mouth. When I realized said hand had only three fingers, I relaxed slightly. When the figure, crouched above me, felt me relax, he pulled his hand away and flicked on the light.

I couldn't help but scowl a bit at Leonardo. "Was that really nessisrity? I asked dryly. Leo nodded, still hovering over me. "Yeah... Raph would've beat you senseless if you woke him." I scoffed. " Hmph... Bring it on." Leonardo cracked a small smile, sitting at the edge of the metal table. I raised my brow. " Wait, when did you get in here? I didn't hear anyone come in."

Leo nodded. "That's a good quality a ninja should have." I chuckled. His smile fell after a minute. "... You started whimpering in your sleep." I froze, then scowled. "So? It's my dream, meaning it's none of your business." I defended myself, rather harshly. Still, he shouldn't pry into my life.

Leo raised his hands in defense. "Hey, I just wanted to see if you were o-" "Well, I'm fine. So leave." I snapped. I saw a flash of annoyance in his eyes. "You know, I don't have to worry. I was just trying to be nice." He said though clenched teeth. I narrowed my eyes at him.

"No need to be nice. We both know you don't trust me anyways."

As soon as the words came out, a sense of disappointment came over me... But I had no idea why. Leo looked ready to retort, but shut his big mouth and instead whirled around and left the room, slamming the door behind him.

I grumbled under my breath, then stood up. I Walked over to the door, when a loud THUMP sounded on the other side. I opened the down cautiously, then blinked at the sight of my bag.

I barely hesitated, before grabbing in and racing out of the Turtles lair, heading straight home... But I felt the feeling I was watched the whole time.

Leonardo watched Shadow run. He quietly mapped out her route to her home, before standing and turning back to head to the lair. This wasn't stalking, he assured himself.

It was just a precaution.
