I know I haven't been on for a while on this story. I didn't know how to write this chapter. So I got inspiration and plot from "Blood and Chocolate." So deal with me and lack of character.
Chapter 21: The Claiming
Jacobs POV
I phased and watch the most gruesome and bizarre transformation of all the werewolves in this ordeal. Some ripped their skin off to reveal the animal. Others held a similar transformation, only the classical of bodies stretching then fur sprouting from their skin. Then there were some who glow then transformed. All round the circle there were Lycans like Dianna, then full grown wolves similar to mine with different traits, and so forth. Too actually see there are different races of werewolves somewhat intimidate me. And worse I got to fight these guys. Now I wish my pack is here to fight these sons of bitches.
Diana panted center of the ring shaking her fur. In her white pelt I can only believe it's her spiritual symbolism of innocence. From what I heard white fur or has hound marshals calls this trait artic pelt. The white lycan struggle to stand up as she looks at her suitors with disdain giving a primitive warning growl. At that moment a few more mutts turned around and left. Damn, scare at her already? I thought with a cackle. However that doesn't mean these ten werewolves will back down without a fight. Hunter growled in his dark auburn skin at one wolf, while Adolph who I think is the brown glared at another. I noticed Sandalius from where his human form once stood, standing tall in his grey pelt, one eye yellow, and the other red. I recant all the memories where Diana had her nightmares crying in her sleep as she screamed awake only talking about those eyes.
Collective growls went around the circle. A dark grey werewolf Lycan with white trimmed around the mane, chest, and arms crawled over to Diana. He nudges her to follow. Diana gave him a growl but followed Drest out of the circle where she'll wait for the claiming to end with her new mate. I growled ready for the kill alongside Hunter and Adolph. Tension filled the circle, eyeing the competition until Sandalius howled commencing the Claiming.
Instantly ten nine werewolves and I jumped into the clearing fighting for Diana as a mate. The thought brought fuel to the fire. I will not let my imprint become somebody else prize. My wolf inside me agreed as we pounced on a werewolf similar to my kind and went for his throat. I tossed him aside like nothing. He tried to jump me aiming for my throat. But I was faster and dodge the blow, he slid across the grass. I growled back pouncing on him and roar in his ear showing dominance of an alpha follow by a bite in the throat. He yelped trying to escape my bite but I held on biting tighter to the point I tasted blood in my mouth. It wasn't long before the wolf submitted with a whimper. I bite him one more time before letting him go. Immediately he scurries away out of the ring with his tail between his legs.
I spit the fur in my mouth to see who remained. Three were out leaving seven as two werewolves dragged out two dead bodies. I quickly go over the list: Sandalius, Tate, Hunter, Adolph, I and two others. Tate and Adolph were fighting off the two extras while Hunter went after Sandalius. All is chaos of speed and blurs, as growls, yelps, roars, and howls could be heard throughout the maelstrom of testosterone makes. By watching all this in the brief moment, the jugular is the weak point. However I had to be careful not to get bitten. I don't know if I get bitten will I turn into a werewolf or not.
I went in helping Adolph who got injured at the black werewolf duck his feint, and ripped flesh off his shoulder. Adolph howled in pain limping back as the black werewolf lunged as they rolled, as the two tried to rib each other's throat. I jumped on the black wolf knocking him off of Adolph. There black werewolf wasn't a lycan that is for sure. Dark skin stretched into this form as black sections of fur around his animal like head, arms, and legs. He sorta reminds me of the species in "Ginger Snaps" then again that might be his species after all. Calling him Ginger Wolf from the movie, his beady yellow eyes glared, narrowing at me. I growled slamming my right paw into the ground. Ginger snarled lips curling to expose his teeth covered in blood and pelt. I snarled in return before we lunged at each other. He got on top of me and bit me on my shoulder through the thick pelt. I yelped trying to thrash the mother fucker off me. However he bites harder to a point skin broke tasting blood. A howl of pain escaped my lips.
Next thing I knew he was off of me as Adolph knocked Ginger off and went for the jugular. It wasn't long before Ginger rolled onto his back exposing his stomach for submitting. Adolph let him go as the black wolf limped away. I panted looking at Adolph in gratitude, he nodded though he look like hell as he knelt to the ground exposing his neck then crawled away.
Turning around I realized the only wolves left in the circle was Sandalius and I. Shit, I cursed as I saw Tate laying on the ground not moving along with Hunter who twitch on the ground bleeding to death. Diana could be seen across from the clearing agitated as she waited for whom to win. If Sandalius win this part of the Claiming she has to run so I can get her. If I win then she would stay. Fight or flight mode must be running hot in her veins as she stared directly to me.
C'mon Jacob, you have to do this to free her.
She is mine! Sandalius growled in my head as we circled each other warily.
Our growls rumbled in our chest, black lips curling up exposing teeth. We were both wounded as our blood and those of the defeated intoxicated the air. I strike first, but Sandalius jumped away. Damn it, as I missed and tumbled, quickly recovering myself, before his jaw crunched the air. We circled each other giving off threats and warnings through primal instincts. My wolf inside desperately want to kill him after all he has done to my imprint. All the memories flooding in that brought Diana pain and suffering.
We clashed at each other biting each other trying to get one another throat. When we couldn't get a grasped we parted and clashed again, desperately trying to kill one another for one reason. There is going to be another death, I fucking know it, and it will be his. Sandalius grabbed hold and pinned me to the ground biting my muzzle. I tried to roll to get him off me, but his claws dig deep into my shoulders while jaw clenching hard on my muzzle. Instantly if not desperately I tried to get him off me, however he continues to bite harder to a point I couldn't breathe. Black spots filled my eyes as I stared deep into those two color orbs of the monster. Soon things got hazy and I stopped thrashing unable to breathe.
Sandalius let me go and stood over me waiting. I lay the twitching from the lack of oxygen. He hackled lifting his head and howling at the moon. I turn my head to see Diana in shock as she walked back towards the woods. Drest growled at her saying something only Lycans can communicate and at that she ran.
Run Dia, I thought. Run!
Sandalius stopped his howling and growled before chasing after her. I whimpered trying to stand up only to collapse. My blood filled my mouth and all over bleeding. Adolph . . . I think it's Adolph who's trying to help me up. Unable to communicate, I can only guess though his body language I need to keep moving. Slowly my body to start heal but not fast enough. Taking a deep breath, I chased after Diana. All I could think about is her. I need to find her and claim her. There's no other choice even though I despise these rule. So I smelt her scent and follow her pheromones.
.o0o.
I ran like the hell ignoring the protest in my body. Diana scent was everywhere in a zigzag formation. One tree holds her scent and then another trail is leading a different route. Clever girl, she took her precious time disorganize tracker. However now I can't find her.
Diana! I shouted in thought.
Diana has a strong connection to me and the pack. She bounded to the telepathic system. If she is listening closely then I can find her. I continue calling out for Diana following one trail. Listening for the specific howl that is her.
C'mon Dia, answer me!
JACOB! Diana exclaimed in thought.
I stopped taking the opportunity using the spirit warrior powers to locate her. Looking into her eyes I see her hiding in a cave near a stream. As one I can feel how she rapidly breathes in anxiety, sensing her fear, and most importantly hunger. So sending her comfort I follow the route she remembered to me and found the strong scent. Digging my nails into the earth, I raced towards the cave searching for the creak. I threw myself forward rocketing through this unknown black forest; I have to get close to Dia. I have to get close enough so she can come to me.
And then I caught her mood up ahead. Desperation. My stride quicken as I put much effort to reach her. Dia, Dia, Dia, Dia, my wolf chanted.
Dia, I'm coming!
Jacob! She called back.
The cave came into sight as she lingers in the shadows. She seemed scared lost between her two thoughts. The wolfsbane potion must be fading. I need to hurry or her beast form takes control. And let me tell you, her wild side is much dangerous compare to a moody Dia. Catching my scent she look up and ran out of her cave on all fours towards me.
Merely a few meters away then she stopped when another howl enter the territory. I slid some searching for any competition. Before I could catch the opponent scent, Sandalius pounced at me. Something seemed different as he became more feral. The last brawl was nothing as he went straight for the kill. His blows much stronger and lethal. I lunged, pouncing at him and going for the jugular biting deep into his shoulder. Sandalius yelped twisting in circles like a puppy going for the tail trying to get me off him. Being much heavier I slumped further down straddling him almost. Diana howled crouching trying to figure what to do.
Next thing that happen Sandalius rolled over slamming into a boulder. The impact was to strong that it knocks wind out of me and let go of him. Sandalius scurry a few steps away, scratching his shoulder then growled at me. He got up scratching his claws against a boulder sharping those long talons sharp. I tried to get up but couldn't. At this moment I thought I was going to die and worse . . . lose Dia.
Say goodbye, Sandalius thought.
No! Diana shouted, as she lunged at him from behind and jaw strangling his through as she straddles him.
Sandalius howled thrashing about to get rid of her. Diana didn't let go as she bite harder into his throat, head burry in his mane. Her paws coming to his face and claws scratching deep into his face, jabbing into his red eyes several times. She is never letting go as she brought Sandalius down. The grey werewolf rolled around in the water and rocks, smashing into trees, yet Dia continue to hold on. I manage to get up and went to help her. Throwing myself at them and collided into the side pinning them to the ground. And took my bite at his muzzle returning the favor. Sandalius thrashed between us, kicking and clawing his way out, but he couldn't.
Diana shook her head releasing a feral growled shaking her head as she chew his neck out. I bite harder crushing his muzzle. It's like something within us snapped as our animal side became the predator killing the prey. Sandalius tried to use his ability to control us but it hardly took effect. We a turn of Diana's head something cracked that I let go of Sandalius head. The grey werewolf laid on the ground in a bloody mess. His faced fucked up and a huge gash in the throat.
Diana spat the flesh in her mouth before looking up to the moon and howled in triumphed. I looked at her amazed, shocked, and most importantly worried. She just had her first killed. Yes, she killed before a few deer's, a bear, but not . . . not one of her kind. Diana finished howling and looked at me.
Focus Jacob, you don't know if this is Dia or her wolf.
The white lycan covered in blood crawled over to me, over Sandalius corpse till her face was mere foot away from mine. From all that I know about Lycans, I remained still and calm. Showing her I wasn't a threat. Our eyes met in a stare off trying to find one another.
And then Diana released a sob, kneeling down, shoulders hunched as realization crushed her. Her leg collapsed and soon was on her belly, paws coving her face as she whimpered. This broke me for neither of us wanted her to kill. So I move to her side and nudge her comfort, licking her ear to sooth here, for her emotions blocked off our communication.
We stayed like this until she calmed down. A few sniffles she nodded as we got up and left the area where Sandalius corpse lied. There was no use looking back as we continue to walk away. However once out of sight a stronger fragrance of lust filled my noise. Shit! If Dia's heat in human is tempting then her wolf form is intoxicating; it's strong like a drug. The wolf inside me growled in hunger that caused her to stop and look at me.
And like two horny teens and the natural spring heat we were at it.
Now we are mated . . . forever.
