Disclaimer: I do not own any part of Rizzoli & Isles. The characters belong to Tess Gerritsen, Jan Nash, Janet Tamaro, and TNT. I am in no way profiting from this. It's just for fun.
Hey, guys! This is the final chapter. Thank you all so so much for reading, reviewing, private messaging, following and favoriting. It means the world to me. You're all very sweet.
I've been asked to write a sequel to this. I'm thinking about it... I'll be focusing on my other story more now, but I'll eventually come back to this. It's been really fun to write. I've especially loved your reactions to the many twists and cliffhangers!
Something else I really loved writing was Jane and Frost's close friendship the first half of the story. I miss Lee a lot, like so so many, and wanted to do something sweet in honor of him. Hope you liked that, too.
Now, onto the last one. Extra long, just for you guys. A case, fluff, funny moments and more ahead. It's been a great ride. :)
Detectives Without Borders Ch. 21
"I'm gonna miss you." Abby sniffles as she hugs Maura.
Maura rubs her back soothingly, also choked up at having to say goodbye. "I'll miss you too, Abs."
The emotional forensic scientist pulls back and brings Jane into a big hug as well. "I'll miss you, too. Keep in touch, will ya?"
"I will." Jane promises.
Gibbs comes over to the small group of tearful women. The first one he says goodbye to is Maura, giving her big hug.
"I'll miss seeing you around here." He tells her, then eyes Jane chatting with McGee. "Kate was really happy for you and Jane. She was also very proud of you, and thought you were the best sister."
"I know." Maura smiles sadly.
"Couldn't get her to shut up about you. It may have been a year since I've seen you, but it's like you never left."
"That sounds just like her... Thank you for being such a wonderful person to her. She loved you very much and thought of you as a father."
Though he would never admit it, Gibbs' eyes watered slightly.
"Visit soon, Maura." He hugs her one last time.
Gibbs then turns to Jane. The brunette expects a handshake, but is happily surprised when he gives her a hug.
"It's been an honor, Jane."
"Thank you. It's been the same for me. So I've got a question for you..."
"What's that?"
"Did Maura learn that habit of forgetting to lock the front door from you?"
"Probably." He smirks guiltily. "Take care of yourself, Rizzoli."
"You too, Gibbs."
While they said goodbye, Frost and McGee were doing the same. The two men bump fists and make promises of connecting online, helping each other out on a case if needed.
"Was great meeting you, Agent Gibbs. We should fish together sometime." Korsak suggests, shaking his new friend's hand goodbye.
"Sounds good, Korsak."
"Semper Fi."
"Oorah."
The last of both groups to say goodbye was Maura and Tony.
"Don't give me that look." Tony warns her with a smirk.
"What look?"
"Like you feel bad about leaving."
"Am I that transparent?"
Tony laughs and pinches his thumb and forefinger close together. "Only a little... Look, I won't lie. It's been difficult and it probably will be for a long time. I'll never get over losing her, not completely, but knowing I have unlimited support from my family and friends is a big help pushing me in the direction I need to go."
"Love you, Dinozzo." Maura cries, throwing her arms around him.
"Love you too, Maura."
"If you ever need me, call me day or night."
"I will, I promise."
"Last call for Flight number 427, gates will be closed in 5 minutes." A woman's voice booms loudly above them.
Frost looks at his ticket and frowns. "That's us, guys."
Everyone looks at one another sadly, but Abby breaks the silence and excitedly says "C'mon, guys! Don't be so sad. We'll see each other again. This isn't it for us."
Maura perks right up too and adds "That's right, we will. Hopefully very soon."
"As much as I love all of you, ya gotta get going or you're gonna miss that flight." Abby chuckles, making shooing motions with her hands.
Jane, Maura, and the guys laugh and wave to them all as they walk towards the gate. As they wait in the short and fast-moving line, they glance over their shoulders at their NCIS family, who stood there smiling and waving. After one last look, and a final wave, the BPD family showed their tickets to a man and went to board the plane.
"Jane... Just give up."
"Shut up, Barold." Jane purposely uses his full name. He hates it just as much as she hates her middle name, Clementine. Why her mother thought it was cute is beyond her.
She's mentally preparing herself to open a pack of peanuts. Since it was the same airline and food company, it was the same brand as the other times.
Jane pokes her tongue out slightly as she intensifies her concentration. She almost cracks up at the silliness of it all, but remains focused, wanting to prove her long time friend wrong.
The Sergeant gets her fingers in place, finally ready. She splits the top and slowly drags it down, the rip becoming larger.
"Ha! Got it!"
"Took ya long enough."
Jane didn't let the friendly jab get to her, and instead waved the open pack in front of his face while popping a peanut in her mouth. Her face smug and proud.
Maura kept giggling softly the entire time, always loving their sibling like friendship from the moment she met them.
"I'm very proud of you, my love."
"Thank you." Jane beams at her girlfriend, and sticks her tongue out teasingly at Frost.
Meanwhile in the row behind them, Korsak and Frankie were talking about sports. More like bickering over what team would the basketball game tomorrow.
"Yeah? Well, $100 says you're wrong." Frankie bets, confident in his choice.
"You're on, kid."
Just as they shake on it, something flies back in their direction.
"What the heck was that?"
The younger of the two picks up a peanut that landed on his shoulder, then looks forward seeing his sister throwing her head back in laughter.
"Ya think those two will ever grow up?" He jokes.
"Nope." Korsak says with a deep laugh.
Jane peeks her head over the seat. "Hey! I heard that."
Frankie cracks up at her playful glare. "Yeah, so?"
"I'll have you know I didn't initiate our little food fight, thank you very much."
"Well, tell Barry to keep his food on that side of the plane."
This time the roaring laughter came from Frost, he too peeked his head over the seat. "Wasn't me, man. Keep guessing!"
Maura leans up as well, smiling and blushing. "Sorry, Frankie. I thought my throwing accuracy was better than that."
"Oh, no. It happened." He gasps.
Maura looks at the middle Rizzoli child and worriedly asks "What?!"
Jane and Frost snicker like children, knowing their brother wasn't being serious.
"They corrupted you."
"Maybe I let them." Maura says, winking at Jane.
The laughter continues until an attendant asks them to quiet down, she glares at them until she walks back into coach to assist other passengers.
Jane glares back, then chuckles after she's gone. "That woman doesn't know how to have fun."
"Sorry about her, she's a cranky one. We actually are a lot more fun, especially on the more empty flights." Another, more younger and friendly, attendant says with a polite smile. "You should see some of the hilarious stuff we do."
The entire group loves to hear that kind of gossip, relating well to it since they've all done some silly stuff while bored on a slow day at work.
"We sometimes have cart races."
"Cart races?" Maura asks, curious about what sounds like a lot of fun.
"Yeah, when barely anyone is on board we ride on the carts down the isles."
"Ooo, that sounds like fun." Jane couldn't resist eyeing up one of the mentioned carts, and the woman noticed.
"Sorry, miss. Too many people. Maybe next time if there's less of them."
"Damn..." Jane curses, slightly disappointed. "Would've been cool to see."
"You would really do that?" Maura asks after the nicer attendant walked away. Then rolls her eyes. "Silly me, of course my beautiful yet crazy girlfriend would."
"You love putting up with us nutballs, admit it."
"What do you mean 'putting up with you'? You're my nutballs. You're my family."
Jane thought that was one of the sweetest things she's ever heard, and couldn't resist leaning over to give her a kiss.
"Love you, Maur."
"Love you more."
"Ugh... You guys are killing me back here." Frankie groans in obvious fake disgust. He loved seeing the two of them happy of course, but still teased them every now and then.
"Quiet or I'll have Maura chuck more food at you." Jane threatens with a grin.
The plane lands in Boston a half hour away from midnight. The flight wasn't that long, but everyone was still rather tired. The last couple of weeks were exhausting. Physically and mentally draining. All pulled through thanks to the great support system they provided for one another.
A cab wasn't necessary to go home in since Frost and Frankie left their sedans at the airport.
"I can't wait to see Bass, I've really missed him. I hope he got along with Jo Friday." Maura says, putting her bags in the spacious trunk.
"Maur, he's a turtle. I doubt he paid much attention to her. When I visited with Jo before they seemed ok together. Besides, Ma has a handle on it. She's been texting and calling you with updates, right?"
"Tortoise..." Maura corrects Jane, even though she knows the brunette said the wrong species on purpose just to get that favorite smile of hers out. "And yes, she has."
"I take it there were no mentions of emergency trips to the vet?"
"No..."
"So they're fine." Jane assures with a shrug.
"I suppose you're right."
"Of course I am. I've got a genius for a girlfriend. Some smarts is bound to rub off eventually. We've been together for over 6 months now."
"And I've loved every minute of it." Maura leans into Jane, placing her hands firmly on her waist.
Jane dips her head down for a languid kiss, both smiling into it. The kiss ends when a car door shuts and a throat clears behind them.
"What?" Jane growls at her brother while still holding onto Maura.
"We going or you two just gonna stay here and make out?"
"Stay here and make out." Jane says with a deadpan expression.
"Jane, we're going home. We could just-"
"I know, Maur." Jane chuckles. She makes a mental note of helping Maura understand sarcasm more. Jane gives a gentle and sweet kiss on the tip of the honey blondes nose, and opens the car door for her.
While her brother drives and Korsak rides shotgun, Jane and Maura cuddle in the back the entire way home.
"You know, Ma is in love with your guest house. She's only stayed there a couple times but this has been the longest. She might never wanna leave at this point."
"I love Angela, she can stay as long as she likes."
"Be careful what you say." Jane warns with a laugh.
"We're here." Frankie announces as he pulls the car to a stop in Maura's driveway. He pops the trunk and helps Jane and Maura unload the few bags they brought. Since they left in somewhat of a rush, not much was there.
"Thank you for the ride, Frankie."
"My pleasure, Maura. I'll see you two tomorrow. I'll call Cavanaugh and let him know we're back."
"Thanks, Frankie. See ya... Later, Korsak." Jane waves to her partner, who had dozed off in the front seat on the way and woke when the door closed.
"See ya, Janie. Bye, Maura."
"Goodnight, Sergeant Korsak. Thank you again for all your help." Maura tells him again, having thanked him and the others when they all arrived in DC, after Casey's death, the takedown of his men, and once more at dinner the night before they left.
"Anytime, Maura. You're one of us, it's what we do for family."
"I appreciate that. Now get some sleep, please."
"Yes, ma'am!" He salutes with a laugh, having no problem following that order.
"Jane, Maura? Is that you out there?"
Jane turns around at the sound of her mother's tired voice. The woman rubbed her eyes with one hand and clutches her fuzzy robe together with another.
"Yeah, Ma. We're home."
Her mother gives her a warm hug, then one with Maura. "Welcome home, sweetie. How was the flight?"
"Thank you, it's good to be back. The flight was pretty fun, actually." Maura smirks at Jane, then looks back at Angela. "Though we're all tired."
"Of course." She nods with understanding. "Let me help you with your bags, honey. You want some tea before bed?"
"That would be lovely, thank you."
"As for you two..." Angela points to her son and Korsak. "I'll be having some words with you tomorrow."
Both men swallowed the hard lump of fear in their throats simultaneously. They knew they were in trouble for lying about why they left. Hopefully she would go easy on them.
"Night, Ma."
"Yeah... See you in the café."
Frankie backs out of the driveway and disappears around the corner within seconds.
"C'mon inside, girls. It's chilly out. We don't want you catching colds."
Jane lifts the four bags, two on each arm, with ease and lets her two favorite ladies lead the way.
"I'll put these in the bedroom. Be back in a sec." Jane says, then goes down the hall towards Maura's room.
Maura and Angela go in the kitchen and start making the tea together.
"You doing ok?" Angela softly asks while preparing the tea.
"I was devastated when I first heard... I still am, honestly. But Jane has been so supportive the entire time, so have you and the boys."
"That's great... You know we're all here for you and always will be. I know what you're going through. When I was in my 20's I lost my sister..."
"I'm so sorry."
"Thanks... It was tough. I just had Jane, so she was my support through the ordeal. Whenever I got upset, all I had to do was look her cute chubby cheeks. That giggle of hers was too adorable for words."
"I heard my name and the word chubby." Jane comes from around the corner and enters the kitchen, she narrows her eyes suspiciously at her mother.
"I was just saying about how cute your little cheeks were when you were a baby. They were still cute when you got older."
"What about Joey Grant? You know what that ass used to call me? Frog face."
Maura giggles while getting a cup from the cabinet and Jane's face reddens in embarrassment.
"No! It's not funny, Maura."
"No. It's not, I'm sorry." Maura tries to say through her laughter, but doesn't do so well.
"Not to mention the other one... Rolie Polie Rizzoli Eats Cannoli. Ugh."
"Aww..." Maura smiles, blowing gently on the hot tea Angela just poured in her cup. "You were overweight?"
"No... I was athletic. Ok, so I might've been a little on the heavy side for a few years. What did they call you?"
"Mora the bora... They meant boring but it doesn't rhyme."
"That was stupid. Losers couldn't think of anything more creative than that?"
"I suppose not. I didn't pay much attention to them anyway."
"Cuz you were too busy on studying and becoming a genius."
"Right..." Maura laughs.
"Girls, I'm gonna go to bed... I'll be talking to you in the morning, young lady." Angela promises, pointing at her daughter.
"Me? What did I do? I'm the good kid!"
Angela laughs, not saying another word and leaves for the guest house.
"Should I be scared?" Jane asks, glancing between Maura and the back door Angela exited through.
"I'm not sure..."
"You done with the tea?" At Maura's nod, Jane asks another question. "Ready for bed?"
"Are you joining me?" Maura raises an eyebrow suggestively while smiling deviously.
"Mmmhmm."
A few days later, Jane and Maura return to work. The first thing they did was head straight to Cavanaugh's office.
"Morning, Rizzoli. Doctor Isles." He greets, gesturing for them to sit.
"I wanted to thank you again in person for all you've done for me. Letting me take time off, and for letting Jane and the others stay with me while I was in DC."
"It's no problem at all. We didn't have many cases, the few we did have were handed off to other detectives. The Chief Medical Examiner was free, so he filled in for you while you were away."
"I'll have to call him later. He's a very nice person for doing that."
"He's a great guy, yeah... So, how is everything? You doing ok?"
Maura gives him a grateful smile, happy that she has his concern for her as well. "I'm doing much better, thank you. I believe I'm ready to return to work, if that's alright with you."
"It's ok with me. Just meet with Susie in the morgue to go over some things. A case just came in this morning, so she'll want to catch you up to speed."
"I will."
The two women get up and are ready to go out the door when Cavanaugh stops them. "Stay back for a minute, Jane."
"Yes, sir... I'll meet you downstairs?" Jane asks Maura.
"Sure, you know where to find me."
Jane closes the door and sits back down. "What's up, boss?"
"How do you think she's doing?"
"She's... Holding up really well, actually. It hit her pretty hard at first, but she's doing ok now. I know she's ready to get back to work."
"Good... So I heard you shot the son of a bitch."
"Yes I did. He may not be paying for his crimes in prison, but he died suffering. That's something at least." Though Jane didn't relish the idea of killing another human being, she took a small comfort at how Casey died. He made Kate and her loved ones suffer, so it seemed fitting he did too.
"I'm glad it's over, I'm sure you all are too. I won't keep you... This case might be a little tricky and we just got our four best people back. So hop to it, Rizzoli." He finishes with a smirk.
"Got it, Boss."
Jane leaves his office and goes into the bullpen, where her brother and partners just settled in their desks again.
"Catch me up, guys."
"58 year old woman, Virginia Hill. Found stabbed to death in her home." Frost runs over the basics for her.
"Suspects so far?"
Frost begins listing a couple right away. "Guy who found her was the gardener for the property. We're digging into his life but he seems clean so far. Next suspect is her stepson, Nicholas. She married his father 10 years back, but he died last year."
Jane turns her computer on and runs the victim's name, scanning over her background information.
"Jesus... This lady was loaded. I wonder if the motive was money?"
"It usually is." Korsak comments.
The Sergeant types some more on the keyboard. "Her stepson was going to inherit everything in the event of her death."
Frankie stands up from his desk and attaches his gun to his belt. "Let's go talk to him."
Down in the morgue, Susie is welcoming Maura back to work.
"How ya holding up?"
"I'm doing much better thank you, Susie." Maura smiles as she begins the autopsy.
Just as she starts taking the frail woman's clothes, a younger man walks in.
"Doctor Isles, we processed the knife used to stab the victim."
"Well that wasn't very smart of the killer to leave it behind."
"The killer's stupidity doesn't end there. He must've nicked himself while stabbing her."
"We've got DNA?" Susie asks him, barely containing her smile.
He nods smugly. "Yes we do."
"I should call Jane and let her know." Maura says, snapping off her gloves and throwing them away in the waste bin. She glances quickly at his ID badge to get a name. "Thank you, Doctor Weston."
She nods at Susie as well, then leaves for her office to call her girlfriend.
The phone rings until her favorite raspy voice answers, making Maura's heart flutter.
"What's up, Maur?"
"The killer accidentally cut himself on the knife. We've got DNA."
"Yes! That's great!"
"Look for cuts or perhaps small bandages on his hands."
"I will. Thanks, babe."
Maura grins at the pet name, even after she's hung up with her and went back into the autopsy room.
Jane, Frankie, and Korsak walk up the steps to a very large and most likely very expensive home.
After a few knocks on the door, man with dark circles under his eyes answers it. "Can I help you?"
"Are you Nicholas Hill?"
He nods yes.
"Boston Homicide. We'd like to ask you a few questions."
"Yeah, sure... Come in." Nicholas opens the door wider so they can enter. "Did you find out who killed my stepmother?"
"We're still looking into it." Frankie informs, taking in his surroundings.
"Nice house you have."
"Thank you." He says to Jane.
"Too bad it's in foreclosure..." Jane sighs unsympathetically. "You're in serious debt with the bank. They're going to take the house if you don't come up with $300,000 within a few months. I wonder how you could get that kind of money after you were recently fired."
Nicholas becomes defensive. "If you don't have anything to tell me about my stepmother's murder, then get the hell out."
Jane smirks. "Hey, Korsak... How much would he get again if Virginia dies?"
"$500,000." Her partner says, stepping closer to the suspect, making him sweat nervously.
"What a coincidence. That's enough to pay off your debts and then some."
"That's all that is. A coincidence."
"I'm not so sure..." Jane deepens her smug grin. "How did you get that little cut right there on the side of your hand?"
He looks down at his hand, eyes widening in panic.
"I... I..." Nicholas stutters.
"Let me say it for you then. You killed your stepmother to get her money. What you failed to realize was that you cut yourself on the same knife. Your blood is on it, too. We got you."
Jane and the guys know they don't have his DNA matched yet, but based on how he's acting... They know Nicholas is their guy.
Nicholas starts crying and hyperventilating, dropping to his knees. "I'm sorry... I'm so sorry! I was under so much pressure, I didn't know what else to do."
Jane looks at him with disgust as the murderer confesses. "Murder isn't the answer. It never is. Think about that while you spend the rest of your life in prison."
Frankie slaps the cuffs on, them hoists him up to his feet. Nicholas staggers out of the house, sobbing violently as he's read his rights.
"That was pretty easy."
"It sure was... Haven't closed a case this fast in a while."
"Wanna go to the Dirty Robber and celebrate?"
Korsak smiles and replies "I'll meet you there."
At the Dirty Robber, the gang's celebration over quickly solving the case is in full swing. Between the beers and shots of hard liquor, everyone was relaxed and having a good time laughing and smiling. For Maura especially, it was much needed after the past few weeks.
"You say tomato..." Jane shrugs as she takes a slow sip from her beer, wanting to pace herself and enjoy the evening instead of getting completely drunk right away.
"Jane. They're two completely different species!" Maura whines adorably. "One lives on land, the other in the ocean. How can you confuse the two?"
"They both have big shells and stuff."
"Oh, what am I going to do with you?" Maura chuckles, leaning onto Jane's shoulder.
Jane turns her head and whispers in her ear "I could think of a few things."
Maura shivers in response, and winks at her. The interaction did not go unnoticed by the other Detectives.
Frost and Frankie sauntered over to the booth, laughing almost uncontrollably.
"J-Janie... Maur-uh! Come dance with us. Murray..." Frost pauses to hiccup, then continues as if nothing happened. "... Just installed a new stereo. It sounds great!"
"Yeah... Watch me show Barry how it's done!" Frankie enthusiastically adds, being just as drunk as his best friend.
Neither wait long enough for a response, and instead walk back over to the stereo and crank up the volume.
"The Drizz!" Frankie yells over the booming beat. "Man, I used to love this song!"
He proceeds to dance horribly to rap song. "Got the crunk in the trunk!"
Even though Frost was pretty drunk, he was sober enough to be horrified by the dancing.
"Whoa, whoa. Stop. Stop!" Frost waves his arms rapidly, the motion making his head almost spin.
"What?"
"That's not how it goes, man. Here... Like this."
Frost moves next to him and Frankie mimics his movements, the two dancing in sync.
"Ah! There you go! Ready?" Frost asks just as their favorite part comes on and they wildly thrash their arms around and shake their behinds.
They thought they were doing pretty well, but little did they know it was extremely comical. Jane, Maura, and Korsak were surprised they didn't hear their laughter.
Korsak shakes his head. "Damn kids can't hold their liquor."
"Except me." Jane states proudly.
"Well, you learned from the best."
Jane taps her shot glass against his and tosses the tequila down her throat, her 4th shot total.
Maura opted out of her usual drink of choice, wine, and also drank some shots of the hard stuff. She too had a higher tolerance level than Frost and Frankie.
"So back to this turtle thing..." Maura starts to slur ever so slightly.
"Tortoise." Jane corrects.
"That's what I meant." She snaps her fingers in frustration. "The tortoise doesn't have... uh..." Her mind blanks for a moment, but Jane is getting a little tipsy and doesn't notice. "Right. The tortoise doesn't have webbed feet like a turtle. Their diets are also very different."
"What do they eat?"
"Tortoises are herbivores and only eat plants or vegetables, while the turtle is more of a meat eater."
"Hmm..." Jane says. "Guess you learn something new everyday."
"I could never tell the difference, but that's cool to know I guess." Korsak comments.
Two shots and a beer later, Jane felt she had enough. Both her and Maura were sufficiently drunk, having a hard time keeping their balance as they walked to the cab waiting for them outside.
"I bet those heels aren't making it easy." Jane observes, her arm securely around Maura's waist.
"I'm taking these off the second I get in the door."
"So, um... What else are you going to take off?"
Maura smirks at her as they reach the cab, finally. "All of our clothing."
The next night, Jane was walking Jo Friday around the block of her apartment after she got home from work. Her phone buzzes in her pocket, signaling a text.
'Hey, are you busy?'
'Just walkin Jo. Not doing anything else.'
'Wonderful! Mind if I come over? I have a surprise for you.'
'You don't gotta ask. Just let yourself in with the key... I'll be back in a few minutes.'
'See you soon. Xoxo'
After Jo finally relieved herself, sniffing the same spot for a full minute much to her owner's dismay and frustration, Jane made it back to her apartment within 10 minutes. Parked just outside, was the familiar bright blue Prius.
Jane opens the door, takes the leash off of her dog and sets her down. She immediately runs over to her little bed and falls asleep.
"What's that?" Jane asks Maura, approaching the kitchen counter to see her standing by a small tank.
"I wanted you to see for yourself what extraordinary creatures these are." She says, turning the tank around so Jane could get a better look.
"Thanks." Jane smiles and leans down to see her new pet. "Aw... They are kinda cute when they're little."
"I told you... So how're Barry and Frankie doing today?"
Jane laughs. "When I called them, they both sounded sick. They said 'leave me alone' and 'never let me drink again'. They always say that and never learn their lesson."
"Hopefully they will soon."
"At least we were smart and remembered to drink water before we fell asleep. That always does the trick for me. Also bacon and coffee at breakfast, that was a must."
Jane picks up the tank and brings it over to the table in the living room, then both women sit down on the couch together.
"So what will you name it?"
"Is it a girl or boy?
"I'm not sure. It's too young for me to tell yet. How about a gender neutral name?" Maura suggests.
"Hmm... How about... Blastoise?"
"What is that?"
"It's Pokémon."
"From the cartoon? You watch it?" Maura asks in a teasing tone.
"Yeah, it's kinda cool. TJ loves it... Anytime he's over when I'm babysitting, he asks to put it on."
"I think that's a good name then." Maura agrees and looks at the tortoise with a new name. "Do you like that name, Blastoise?" She asks in a sweet voice, but the little thing was too busy chomping at their small leafy treat.
"So why did you give Bass his name?"
"After William M. Bass."
"An old boyfriend?"
"No, the Forensic Anthropologist. He founded the famous body farm."
"Right... That Bass."
"What? I was 16 and thought it was cool."
"Wow, you've had him since then? How old is he and how long do they live for?"
"Bass is about... 20 years old, I'd say. They live for about 50 to 150 years."
"Wow, that's amazing. Blastoise and Bass are still gonna be young by time we're old and grey together."
"Jane, that's not happening."
"You don't wanna grow old with me?"
"Oh I do, I meant about the grey hair thing. My hair will remain grey free for the rest of my life." Maura declares with a laugh.
After a while, they decide to turn on the TV and cuddle, but neither are really paying attention to it. They were too wrapped up in their warm embrace with one another to care about whatever is on.
"When did you know you loved me?" Jane asks some time later.
"I felt something strong the moment I saw you. The feelings grew even more after you asked me out. I though you were so cute... How happy you were, doing that movement with arm so excited."
"Oh my god, you saw that?"
"I sure did. That's when I started to realize my feelings went beyond a simple crush. I fell for you hard and fast, Jane Rizzoli."
Jane presses the back of Maura's hand to her lips. "I love you so much."
Maura closes her eyes and hums softly at the tender action. "When did you know?"
"The day we met. I was lying in bed and couldn't figure out why I wasn't able to get you out of my mind... Then it hit me. I fell in love with you at first sight, and may I say what a beautiful sight you are. I feel so lucky to have you in my life."
The blonde woman in her arms nearly wept at the words.
"I feel the same way about you."
"I think it's amazing we get to work together and solve crimes."
"We make a pretty good team, don't we? Rizzoli and Isles... Crime fighting duo. Hmm. I like the sound of that."
The end!
Thank you all so so much once again. I'm very grateful. I hoped you enjoyed Detectives Without Borders.
