Chapter 21

Allen sat on his bed petting Barth, Tim had disappeared a while ago to who knows where. With all that had happened in the past few months along with the return of his memories, he was completely out of his league. Thinking back on his time in the Order he couldn't see why he ever thought to stay with them fighting people he now saw as the only family he ever had since Mana. As his mind wandered he found himself thinking about his supposed friends in the Order such as Lenalee, Kanda, Miranda, Jonny and Krory and of course dear Lavi who despite it all still stuck with him even in this life.

Allen sighed and picked Barth up from his lap and held him in front of his face to nuzzle his nose against his cats. Today was his birthday or at least the day Mana picked him up all those years ago, December 25, XXXX, he had been with the Noah for the greater part of a year and already so much had happened.

Neah and Adam had found him at the lowest he had ever been, Sheryl his father had adopted him and in doing so he gained a sister and brother. Then the first meetings with Kanda happened- just thinking about it still made Allen want to curl up and sob until he couldn't feel a thing, and that room in the Ark -NO! - He wasn't going to think about it. After that things really started to pick up: he met Red his Noah and regained his memories though most of them were bad he had a few that made his heart ache at the sight of them, in a good way mind you. And then Lavi the one person that he feared would come from the past to haunt him turned out to be one of the best things in his life. Lavi joined the Family though he could not be a Noah he could still keep up with everything. His brother- his brother- Lavi wanted him as a younger brother, Allen didn't think his spirits could be lifted any higher that they were at that moment when he saw Lavi that first time.

Allen was pulled from his thoughts when he felt a weight settle on his head and borrow in. "Hi Tim where were you the past- oh however long?" He asked his golden golem.

::Well considering it is your birthday I had to make sure that all the plans were set:: Allen was about to ask what plans but Tim continued, ::Come follow me I'll show you before you start to worry your little head:: With that Tim wrapped his tail around Allen's wrist and pulled him out of the room and down the corridor. As they were nearing the common room Tim slowed down and disappearing into the room he left Allen standing outside the dining room door.

"Wait Tim! Where are you going?"Allen called to Tim.

::Just come into the room and you'll find out:: Shrugging Allen sighed and pulled open the double doors only to be tackled to the ground by Road following the shout of.

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ALLEN!" that caused said birthday boy to cover his ears at the noise. Jerking up Allen pushed Road off and stood up, brushing of the dirt he picked up from the floor he looked into the room to see Neah, Sheryl, Tyki, Adam, Wisely, Lulu bell, the twins and Lavi standing up in front of the dining table. The room was decorated in silver balloons and streamers along with the banner stretching across the room that read "Happy 16th Birthday, Allen!" On the table there stood a pile of presents that shocked Allen out of his stupor.

Bringing his hand up to his mouth with a gasp Allen whispered in shock, "What is this, why did you do all this for me?" The others blinked before it dawned on them that Allen had never had his birthday celebrated outside of Mana, Lavi came up to Allen along with Road and Wisely the three siblings glommed their youngest brother in a group hug. Lavi being the oldest of the four whispered, "We know we didn't have to Allen but we wanted to, it's what family does, right? Besides it's just one more reason to have a party and eat unhealthily." Allen chuckled thinking that he had better keep an eye on his brother should he get into the candy. Allen pulled back from the hug and looked at his father, uncles and Adam, "Better get this party started shall we?" and with that Allen was coerced over to his spot and a platter of Dango was placed

in front of him.

"Dango! Oh I love you so much I've not had this in forever!" Allen squealed in excitement before shoving one into his mouth. The sweet slightly chewy flavor of the dumplings made Allen sink into his chair in a satisfied moan. Which cause everyone else to chuckle at the childlike actions of their beloved family member though they knew how unchildish he could be when he wanted. Wisely who had read where the others thoughts were headed laughed internally because he knew more than everyone besides maybe Lavi, whom he still had not figured out, just how wicked Allen could be. As was proven just a week prior when Allen had learned just why Lavi was living in the forest where Timcanpy had found him.

(flashback)

Lavi and Allen had been in Allen's room where they had been staying since Lavi arrived, when Allen burst from the room his anger levels so high the air around him was vibrating and the floor where he walked was singed where he stepped. He all but flew down the hall towards the Earls office before he even touched the door it disintegrated into nothing leaving not but a scattering of dust. When Allen saw that Wisely, Road and Neah were talking to Adam he growled at them low in his throat.

"Leave now, I shall not be responsible for my actions should I hurt you." Allen stalked around the room waiting for the unwanted guest to leave. Wisely who saw the fury beneath the anger Allen was showing grabbed his sister and Neah before they could say something stupid, though from the looks on their faces they hadn't even thought to speak and pulled them from the room and out of sight from the missing door.

Adam who had remained sitting with a concerned expression on his face looked at his youngest ward and was shocked at what he saw. Allen's eyes which were usually filled with love and kindness were nowhere to be found in those glowing silver eyes and in their stead was the hard impenetrable glint of poorly contained fury. The kind of fury that made one do away with their morals, the kind of fury that was only ever seen in an act of vengeance. Knowing something must have caused this Adam stayed silent and waited for Allen to start talking, and talk he did.

"I'll kill them every one of them and leave nothing left! Rip them to shreds and burn the left-overs! How could someone do such a thing to a fellow human being without there being some form of retribution," here Allen burst into a fit of dark laughter that sent a shiver racing up and down Adam's spine. "Well their peace is over for they're on a death's door they just have yet to realize it. Adam I'm going out don't expect me back for quite some time, I plan to do what Road did for me."

With that Allen swept out of the room and didn't return for a quarter of a day though when he did he was covered in blood with a pleasantly relaxed expression on his face and in a considerably better mood. No one asked where he had gone and no one wanted to after they saw how Wisely paled after seeing into Allen's head. Though if they saw the pleased look on Lavi's face they all could easily guess as to what Allen had been up too.

(End flashback)

Shaking his head Wisely returned to the present to see that Allen was on his second helping of Dango and gave no signs of slowing down anytime soon.

It took forever but finally Allen was allowed to open his presents: from his father he got a golden pocket watch that had an intricate Celtic design on the front and the engraving "Life can never be lived unless it is lived with other people." on the back, when Allen opened the watch he saw that he would be able to put a small picture inside it; Road and Wisely had gone in together on a gift and had gotten him a Stradivarius violin which left him speechless.

"How did you even afford this you two?" he asked after a while as he just sat and stroked the neck of his new violin. Road and Wisely looked at each other before shrugging at Allen. Deciding to ignore it he opened Lulu bell's gift to find a cat castle for Barth smiling he thanked her and told her Barth would love it. Next he opened Tyki's which was a brand new deck of poker cards with an invitation for three poker games with Tyki, smirking Allen looked up at Tyki.

"For some reason or another I feel as if you're going to regret this immensely." Allen told Tyki with the most innocent look on his face that his youngest uncle froze and paled drastically before just nodding his head in horrified agreement. As Allen opened Neah's gift he looked up at his uncle to see an expectant look upon his face, unwrapping the package he pulled out a picture frame that was flipped it around turning it around so he could see it he almost dropped the precious image. It was of Mana and Neah as children Allen didn't know how Neah managed to get a picture like this but he wasn't going to ask. Allen smiled up at Neah and if the smile was a little watery no one mentioned it.

Last but not least Adam handed Allen his gift which turned out to be a set of books that Allen had been drooling over at the last book shop they had visited.

Allen was back in his bed ready to go to sleep a few hours later after a great deal of eating and pranks thinking back on everything Allen could never have asked for a better family. Snuggling down into his blankets he fell asleep with a smile on his face.
