When my eyes opened, I was attached to a table. Well, it felt like it. I was tied down, anyway, with thick, leather straps.
I looked around. Damian was tied down too. He was covered in a light sweat and looked like he had just passed out.
A face appeared over me. I looked and flinched. It was a gruesome mask that looked like a scarecrow.
"Scarecrow!" I hissed.
"Harm." He acknowledged me. "Or, that is what you are called, correct?"
His voice was soft, gentle, like someone I could pour my problems to.
Oh shit, that really was the Scarecrow. Oh no, oh no, oh no.
"I watched you for a little while. You don't like to wander around regular places, do you?" He paced back and forth. "The boy you were with was an interesting experiment. I imagine you would like to know what you are doing here?"
"Surprise me." I muttered, already knowing why I was there. I was a fancy new experiment.
"They don't want me to tell you, but Killer Croc and Baby Doll asked me to convince you to join their side." He laughed, high pitched.
Okay, I guess I didn't know why.
"Let's begin!" He squealed in glee.
"Wait, what did you do to him?" I tried to make him pause.
"What I'm about to do to you!" He cackled.
Another oxygen mask covered my face. I tried to hold my breath, but he didn't take the mask away until I breathed.
The straps were gone. So were Scarecrow and Damian.
"Shit!" I shouted.
He must have knocked me out again and taken Damian away, shit, I told his dad I would take care of him!
I looked around. There was one door. Only way he could have gone.
I yanked it open and began wandering around. I didn't know where I was. The walls were white, way too white. Maybe a hospital?
I opened every door. Not a single person was behind them. I expected the last door to lead to the exit, but it just led to another room with a table, empty straps.
Shit. Where was I?
I began looking at all the walls, the ceilings. I traced my way back to the first room and realized there was another occupant.
Dad.
Dad in one piece, Dad whole and alive and looking at me with a smile.
"Daddy!" I ran to him.
"Hey, baby girl!" He didn't move when I threw my arms around him.
A weird smell like bacon whirled around us.
"Daddy, you're okay!" I held him. "Daddy—"
"No. But that's okay baby girl, it wasn't your fault."
"What?" I stopped.
I pulled away from him. He wasn't whole or smiling or alive. He wasn't in one piece. Someone had arranged his body this way. I could feel his chunks separating.
I shrieked and jumped away.
"That's how you're going to repay me?" He frowned. "I took care of you after what happened and this is the thanks I get?"
I backed away.
On the floor, Wally crawled forward. His body was contorted and blackened.
"You ruined everything!" He accused in a raspy, dry voice.
"Daddy?" I whimpered. "Wally?"
"You're a freak! We should have given you to your mother and the doctor!"
"No!" I screamed at them and ran out the door.
I yanked the door shut behind me. Robin was standing there.
"Robin?" I asked carefully. I was shaking.
He smiled at me. His arms opened. I ran to him gratefully and his arms encased me.
"S-Scarecrow did something." I stammered. "Dad and Wally are in there!"
"Who?" He asked me gently. He stroked my back.
"Dad and Wally! They're back there and it's my fault and—"
"Don't be silly, there's no one back there."
I opened the door. They were gone. The smell was gone.
"Harm, are you okay? I think you need to seek some help." His arms tightened around me. "I'm taking you to get help."
"Stop!" I squirmed. "Robin, you're hurting me!"
Robin was no longer behind me but in front of me. I was tied down on a table again and doctors were standing over me.
"Don't worry, Harm, these people will help you." He smiled gently at me.
"No!" I shrieked. "No, no, no!"
There were scalpels and a bone saw and they were cutting into me and I was screaming. There was pain I had never felt before and it brought back the feeling of chemicals washing over my body. I was drowning in them and tears and sobbing, inhaling chemicals as they kept coming out of the truck and it hurt to try to move, everything hurt.
But I was invincible.
The pain stopped. My skin was harder than diamond. I was stronger than the ocean. I ripped away the bondage that held me still and I used their tools to stop them. I made them stop moving. I looked up at Robin. He was still smiling pleasantly. My vision was blurring. I picked up a knife and started stumbling toward him.
Arms closed around me and I threw the knife at Robin. I leaned against the invisible figure.
It was all Scarecrow. I had heard about him. Fear gas. Scarecrow.
"Stay out of my head." I mumbled. "I don't belong here. I don't. I am normal. It's not my fault. None of it is my fault."
"Easy." A voice said.
I was in the first room again. Scarecrow was still stuck to a wall, a knife in his shoulder pinning him there. Damian was holding me.
I shrieked at Scarecrow and tried to get to him, but Damian held me in place, with quite a bit of struggle.
"No, Harmony!" He said quietly. "Easy! Easy!"
Scarecrow laughed. I clung to Damian and breathed heavily.
"Harmony, you're okay." He rocked me gently. "It's okay, you're okay."
Damian carried me out of the room. The room let us out into the fight ring's green room where Killer Croc and Baby Doll were waiting for us.
I got down onto my feet and kicked the door shut so hard it came off its hinges.
"You wanna play this game?" My voice got quiet. "I can play this game all night. Just remember, I will win."
Baby Doll's face got pale. She shrank closer to Killer Croc.
"Don't touch either of us ever again or I'll have a new pair of croc skin boots and a shiny new taxidermy doll." If my eyes were as powerful as the rest of me, they would have been dead simply from the look I was giving them. "I won't even ask my family for help, just to make it more fair to you. Oh, who am I kidding!" I laughed at them. Killer Croc was stoic, but Baby Doll looked like she was about to piss herself. "That's still no advantage to you!"
I stormed out of the room, Damian following silently behind me.
This time there was no noise when I slammed the other door shut. There was no angry screaming coming from Baby Doll. Both were silent. Both knew they had fucked up.
