Say Something
Chapter 20
Ashley being the youngest did not stop her from getting into trouble, although she had her father wrapped around her finger.
At three years old she could tear apart the house, and still manage to have Peter buy out the entire Barbie section of Toy R Us in the same day, no matter how many time outs, warnings, or siblings she made cry or scream.
All Ashley had to do was bat those baby blues at her daddy and bounce on her toes to make her little strawberry blond ringlets bounce and daddy was done for. Grandpa too. Hell almost any man in her life, except for her brother. Logan was immune to her charms, she'd terrorized him to no end from practically the day she was born, and he'd learned to block her out. She hadn't broke him yet.
She was spoiled by her father, there was no doubt about that. When she was good, she was an angel, otherwise, watch out.
Carmen had recently retired as all the children were in school accept for Ashley.
But I'd finally talked Peter into putting Ashley into preschool for more social interaction.
She was extremely smart and needed that extra bonding time with children, plus I needed time to recoup during the day.
I was in the middle of writing my most recent book and they were pushing it to be out by Christmas so they could get feelers if it'd make a hit movie or not. That's the part that had me a nervous wreck.
It was a Young Romance novel so they were trying to hype it up as the next Twilight without the vampires.
When my publicist told me that I rolled my eyes and said it didn't make any sense and she said to teens it would. I just shrugged my shoulders and went along with it. She obviously knew what she was talking about, because we'd already had pre-orders for 100,000 copies and the summary wasn't even out yet. Not one peep of what it was about was out yet. It was going to be a love story though.
Bree was 12 going on 20. She was into sleepovers and friends. Destinee at 10 was to an extent, but she'd rather have a couple friends over at the house, rather than go to a huge sleepover like Bree.
The years were passing by so quickly, my babies were growing up.
Bree was becoming a woman and also enjoyed spending time with me, shopping and getting her nails and hair done.
Destinee was still into Barbie dolls, at least she let Luca play with her. Luca and Logan were now 6 and fiercely independent and loyal to one another. So it was rare for them to play apart but when they did, Logan would come in and bug them, they'd threaten to braid his hair and he'd scamper off.
And then there was Ashley who was 3 and was the terror of the house and of course as I've often said the most spoiled too.
But what we wouldn't do for any of our children.
And the grandparents, don't even get me started on them. Anything and I mean anything that the grandkids wanted or asked for they got, from one or the other set of grandparents. If it was something big, they went in on it together and school fundraisers, forget it… My kids always won.
Between family, friends and co-workers, not to mention extended family, all I had to do was send out an evite and everyone wanted to buy something. And they bought from all the kids if they were all selling at the same time of the year and we of course bought from our friend's kids too.
But of course as with all good things, there must be a few bumps in the road…
And little did we know we were headed for a major one…
AN:
Sorry for the shortness…
This is a filler and the next one will skip ahead a few years…
Dealing a major story changer… SORRY…
