Blind 21

Night had finally arrived and the moon was high in the shape of a crescent, the same as the dog demon's forehead tattoo. Sesshoumaru had no idea how long he had been running, but he knew he needed to keep going. All the while, the taiyoukai had been thinking about the recent events that had occurred, starting with Kige. That glare she shot him when she fled the village… He hadn't seen that glare ever since she left the Western lands, or rather ran from them.

He shook his head of the troubling thoughts. It was best not to dwell on the past; what's done is done. And yet… his light-haired, dark-eyed mistake staring him in the face was off putting to say the least. Sesshoumaru thought she had left his life forever; apparently that isn't the case. But maybe this was the grand plan of the gods from above; to constantly curse him with grief and aggravation. On the other hand, Kige's and To-Yan's reappearance could finally be a chance to come to terms with his own personal demons.

Sesshoumaru's mind then wandered to Princess Reitana, the root of his new found frustration. Sure the woman was blind, but why did it always come down to him having to make sure the well beings of others were secured? First his infuriating subordinate Jaken, then his young companion Rin, and now Reitana.

He was almost 100 percent positive that his father was laughing at him from beyond the grave; that old fool was obsessed with protecting and caring for the weak. And look what it got the man; an early death, two widows, and a runt-bastard son who perished by the hand of his own woman - a mortal of all things!

Sesshoumaru huffed as he discarded musings of his father's disgraceful actions and focused his attention back to Reitana. What was he to do after he rescued her? Obviously, the woman could no longer continue living by herself in the remains of Aria, so maybe living with him in the estate as Rin's mortal companion would be the proper solution. There was no way she would be able to travel along with him on his ventures, however. And perhaps he could convince her to let him have the land of Aria as gratitude - or payment - for his services. He could expand his inherited empire.

Of course he had to save Reitana first.

I know... you all hate me for this short chapter. But I just wanted to open up a window so you lovely audience can peer inside our 'hero's' mind and how he's reacting to all that's going on around him. Because I mean let's face it, he was bound to lose a bit of his composure at this point. (Sorry Sess fangirls :p) Anyways... keep on the lookout for my next installment and as always,
~Happy Reading/Writing! ^.^
