Good evening! So, I just moved, so sorry for the short late chapter .. But here is the second portion of Byakko's battle. Byakko was my favorite Saint Beast as well as one of the few with a large variety of abilities. I did tear when he died even though he was a hot head. I do not own any YU YU Hakusho characters, just Aiko, Lady Shino, Madame Red, Shin and Hiro. Yes another OC.
"He's dead." Yusuke said out loud. Kuwabara wasn't dead, but I was pretty sure he was going to be. As the Beasts continued taking shots at Kuwabara, his blue uniform torn and stained with blood. This was painful, I could barely watch it. "GET YOUR BACK AGAINST THE WALL!" Yusuke yelled at Kuwabara, who ran at the beast, who quickly dodged his wild swinging.
"He has no strategy. He's just swinging his sword with the grace of a fly swatter. That is no way to survive!" Hiei said exasperated by Kuwabara's fighting. He may have learned new tricks but he lacked any real fighting technique. This wasn't a street brawl and these things weren't human opponents. Finally Kuwabara dropped and I watched the basic pattern all beats do when their prey has fallen. They pounced on top of the boy. It took everything I had to restrain myself and not come to his aid as more blood fell to the floor.
"KUWABARA! Let me take them instead, I know you want to fight this one but there's way too many of those things to swing a sword at. My shotgun blast just makes more sense okay? Come on Kuwabara please!" Yusuke pleaded, attempting to reason with the bloodied Kuwabara. To no avail. The idiot just wasn't going to listen.
"If you are going to take the time to switch, you might as well all fight me at once. After all nothing gives me more pleasure than a big group kill. Soon, your she-beast will understand just what that pleasure feels like." Byakko said once again with a cackle. I wanted to say he was full of himself but looking at Kuwabara's battle, I couldn't blame him. Byakko stared at me with crimson eyes running his tongue against his teeth. A shower was needed after this, a scalding shower. No, scalding water wouldn't be enough. It had to be a lava bath. Molten hot magma. I'd never feel clean again.
"OKAY KUWABARA! I don't care if you retreat or not, I'm coming in to help! Let's go Aiko, I can't watch the idiot die." Yusuke yelled looking at me. The weight on my chest seemed to ease. Thank goodness these rules didn't matter to either of us.
"STAY RIGHT THERE! I am not asking for help and if you come up here I swear I'll turn this sword on you. I'm no wimp Urameshi and I'm not stopping unless Byakko comes down here and kills me himself. " Kuwabara replied stopping us both Yusuke and I in our tracks. I looked from him to Yusuke. He can't be serious. Byakko didn't need to kill him at this point… his hair monsters would do it for him.
"Don't say that." Yusuke said softly but sternly. I looked at Yusuke's hands which were clenched tight and shaking. I looked up at those intense brown eyes begging him silently, to for once maintain his stubborn streak. He opened his mouth before his shoulders slumped and he shook his head at me. Was he kidding me? I bared my teeth at him, glaring daggers at him. Of all times to bend over he chose now, when Kuwabara was being used as a human scratching post. Yusuke seemed taken aback before bending looking at me. "The moment he falls unconscious Freakshow, we take them all out." He said quietly. I stopped abruptly looking back to Kuwabara who still wasn't faring well. That worked for me, I had a feeling it was the best I was going to get.
Byakko however was not thrilled with Kuwabara's speech. At least we agreed on something. Byakko let out a sound of disgust and spoke again. "If that is your choice of death then fine. Beasts, you may now tear off his arms and legs and divide them amongst yourselves. But leave the body for me so I can finish him." He ordered. I took in the Tiger's posture. He was taken aback by Kuwabara, still far too cocky but it fit. He wanted his prey to fear him and Kuwabara had robbed him of that. This must have been his first time seeing someone on the verge of losing but still challenging him. Perhaps, that will be Byakko's downfall, his cocky attitude. If only Kuwabara were smart enough to exploit it. I wondered if he even saw it. I watched as Kuwabara began running from the monsters as they obeyed their master's call.
"Sorry monsters but you can't. Genkai just fixed these arms and I'm not breaking them again." Kuwabara said trying to dodge the beasts but not doing well. The beasts struck at Kuwabara's limbs missing but barely. Finally Yusuke ran forward surprising both Hiei and Shuichi- Kurama- stopping midway on the pathway. It was taking a lot from him to not aid Kuwabara, I could see the desperation in his back muscles.
"Hey don't die for being stubborn you dope! Let me take over. There is no way you can beat all four of those beasts by swinging your sword around. Think about it!" Yusuke yelled voice straining. Kuwabara's back stiffened then and I thanked kami. The boy was going to listen to common sense. Then a look crossed his face and he ran towards us. I watched in horror as the beasts followed their kill while Byakko laughed.
"There you see, in the end the fool runs away." Hiei said snidely. The beasts were gaining on Kuwabara and I braced myself to leap forward and get them off his tail.
"He won't make it." Kurama said out loud.
"Don't worry. I'll go as soon as he asks for help. Ready Blue?" Yusuke said a smile in his voice. I yipped in response. They were much closer now, close enough for me to smell the hunger and rage that radiated off the beasts and the sweat and blood that was Kuwabara.
"You know you can't escape." Byakko taunted with a wicked teeth baring grin. As Kuwabara was within a few feet from us he stopped suddenly. What the hell? I thought straightening up as Kuwabara turned around. He was so close, why'd he stop?
"Who said anything about escaping?" Kuwabara asked slyly. Had he lost it from the loss of blood? I heard Yusuke's gasp at Kuwabara's sudden halt. He was going to die.
"SWORD GET LONGER!" Kuwabara shouted. He pulled his sword arm back before thrusting it forward. "EAT THIS!" he yelled as the sword skewered the beasts in the most grotesque looking shish kabob I had ever seen. It also seemed that I wasn't the only one surprised. I looked past Kuwabara at Byakko who stared mouth agape before looking back at Kuwabara in awe. It was brilliant, get them all lined up to control the flow of battle. He wasn't as dim witted as I thought. Perhaps he did have a chance with Byakko.
