Chapter 21: The Best Laid Plans

"Damn!" He growled.

Six months of planning, moving things into position and now the boy was ruining it all. They were regaining control of the prison and there was nothing to be done. Now he was heading to the control tower, the plan was unraveling fast. The boat wasn't even on time, at this rate, nothing would go right.

He paced around, stopping to stare into the boy's briefcase. The flare and file had been left inside. The watch and the knife were gone but the lighter, and rings remained as well. The radio transmitter that the boy had brought had already been put to good use, allowing for a last minute change in plans. But how to proceed now?

Suddenly he was struck with an idea. He took the transmitter and cleared his throat.

"Attention prisoners, this is The Liberator. Would whoever is in possession of Richard Fitzpatrick, please bring him to the emergency boat at the north dock. I have some very special plans for him.'

That should draw him off course. Now it was just a matter of getting there first.
