"Okay. So assuming Amanda and Jamison are with Peter, what's next? We'll have finally retrieved her. And the two of you will be reunited, which seems like one large part of this puzzle that needed to be solved. But then what? What will happen to you?" Jim asked, staring intensely at Esther.
She bit her lip. "Well... We'll need to find a way home. And a way to change her back. Honestly, I don't know what we're going to do. Getting her back was all I've thought about for months. I was shocked to see her so small. It just, well, complicates things."
Jim snorted. "Yeah, 'complicates'. It seems like you're dealing with something much bigger than I, or maybe even the doctor, has ever had to deal with. What would you propose for dealing with the age problem?" Jim turned to the Doctor.
"I've never seen anything like it. Though, nothing's impossible when we're dealing with a xetrov remember. That's what got us all into this mess in the first place it seems. Maybe we can harness the powers somehow to get you two home."
"So you're in this until the end? Even though you just spontaneously dropped in from who knows where?" Jim asked with a smile.
"Of course. I help out where I can, and I'm intrigued of course. Very intrigued. And you'll continue to help too?"
"Police force. It's my job to help. And besides, I grew pretty fond of Amelia- I mean Amanda- while she was in my care," Jim grinned at Esther. She felt her cheeks glow red. "I'd like to see the two of them home safely. So, where is home?" He asked Esther.
"Earth."
Jim's face twisted in confusion. "Earth..." he muttered. "Must be a very distant galaxy. You ever heard of it, Doctor?"
"Heard of it?" The doctor laughed. "I spend half my time keeping that planet protected. And it seems the other half of my time is spent in distant parts of space defending it. Do I know Earth? Oh yes I definitely do."
"So can you return them safely?"
"I could... But I worry that, being this is a product of the xetrov, a part of them might already be on Earth, and bringing them back through physical transport might be impossible. I assume there is a rift in time and if they don't travel properly, they might not be able to return home at all."
"So. It's really really complicated. Well, in the meantime, it'll probably take some time to get to this Neverland. Got any food Doctor? I know I'm starving."
At the mention of food, Esther's stomach jumped into hunger-mode.
"Ah yes, just back here," The doctor strode off to a backroom.
"It is pretty big in here," Jim observed, watching the doctor leave.
"You've really never heard of Earth before?" Esther blurted.
"Yeah." Jim glanced at her with a bit of a smirk. "Is it a particularly important planet?"
"Well- I guess maybe not since we really don't have any communication with aliens," Jim's eyebrows rose at the term. "Maybe no one even knows we exist. That's kind of a lonely feeling isn't it? Well, I guess, I'm from there so I guess I think it should be pretty important."
"Hahaha!" Jim laughed. Esther glowered. "Guess I could understand that." He accepted.
"So do they train all the youth to be fighting machines and to use weaponry? You seem to have a particular prowess for it."
Esther blushed again. "No... I learned all that during my stay in Neverland."
"Should I be worried about this place?"
"Haha, no. It's not like that. I was just lucky to meet someone," Again, Jim's eyebrows shot up and he looked curious. "I think it's the sort of place where if you wish hard enough, it finds a way to help you."
"Sounds... special. And familiar, doesn't it? Kinda has some of the qualities of a xetrov."
Esther nodded. "I guess so."
"Now I've got ravioli, some beef jerky, and canned corn. Oh, and some sardines. Salty little buggers. I apologize for the lack. I haven't stocked up lately." The doctor swept in, his arms laden with cans.
"Looks good, Doctor," Jim jumped up to grab some of the food.
